The author made a great blunder by writing almost 30 chapters of complete mechanical RPG grinding without interesting/unique inner monologues. What I meant by complete is literally every single paragraph in those 30 chapters are spent into mundane and repetitive grindings. The MC is completely dry and absent of personality and we can easily replace it with a bot...

I was pretty excited about this one, since it has a bunch of tags that are relevant to my interests. But after reading up to chapter 11 I'm dropping it.

TLDR version: Super boring!

Long version: If what you're into is other world reincarnations with nothing but grinding and stats, this is the novel for you! Main character reincarnates as a girl in another world and... proceeds to ignore all character development (or having a personality) in favor of killing wild dogs and thinking about how to spend his level up... more>> points. It's certainly possible that it'll get better later once more characters get introduced (I assume that'll happen eventually) but it's already lost my interest. <<less

One thing first. I wrote this reviews only because I found this story to be very entertainment and funny. There isn't much to the story yet so I don't know what will change and happen in the future but for now, I am giving it a 5/5 since it was VERY interesting.

Its an amusing story of a man who dies only to be sent to another world... As a girl... Kinda. He (?) eventually learns he (?) is a girl but, it doesn't mean much as she (?) can change gender freely, but due to him 1. Being found a girl first. 2. Looking like a girl. And 3. Seemingly not caring, he stays a girl about 99% of the time.

She eventually becomes extremely strong and due to her young age, lack of family (she doesn't tell everyone she has no... more>> family, maybe a few but not enough for it to stick out), being incredibly strong, and (Small unimportant Spoiler) most of the time when she sleeps she talks saying "Mom... Dad... I dont want to die." so a lot of people who are close to her hear this and becomes convinced that she has suffered a lot. She doesn't know she does that and they don't tell you for a long time.

For those who want to know how she is seen later.
Spoiler

She ends up incredibly popular given a nickname as well as being pretty influential, but not in a politics way more like if one knows her and she is close to them they might get a lot of special treatment depending on who, what, when, and where.

I enjoy it though sometimes it lost me, but then again I only read the raws so maybe thats why. <<less

I would like to give this a lower score but it's pretty much exactly what it says on the tin. The MC just singlemindedly focuses on leveling up throughout, the fight scenes become a tiny bit better written further in (the first ones are like 'I hit the thing and it died') but I can't call them well written. Honestly I skimmed the last 5 chapters or so hoping for something to change (another character maybe?!?!?) but nah. It's just reincarnated MC wakes up in fantasy land immediately casts off... more>> all the trappings of civilization he previously enjoyed to wander around hunting wild dogs, eating their meat, sleeping on the ground, and of course leveling up. <<less

Pre-existing review up to chapter 84: 5 Stars

Whilst this review will be very biased as I like the Gender Bender, Overpowered Protagonist and Game Elements quite a lot, which I know many people loathe (especially OP Protagonist), I do believe that it is of high quality within the OP MC in a game genre, being able to compete with series such as Moto Sekai Ichi no Subcharra and DWR as a Sage. If you enjoy the type of grinding present in "Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka?", like RPG OP MC... more>> Isekai, or just want to chill and read without treating it as Shakespearean literature, give this novel a try.

Plot: You're not supposed to find any, it's an Isekai with no unique premise.

The series is less about overcoming tough situations like the typical shounen and more about the protagonist finding himself/herself accidentally being OP whilst grinding levels too much after being isekai'd, but doesn't fall under the typical complaint category of 'We don't get to see how they suddenly power up' that is applicable to most Isekai with OP MCs, kind of like Kumo Desu ga Nani ka, which if you have not realized from the other reviews here is actually one of the major complaints regarding this series. Surprisingly, this series also has a premise to getting Isekai'd that is actually relevant to the events of the story, and is really well planned out as it's effects take place in various parts of the story but starts to kick in a lot at around chapter 80ish.

PS Regarding the Tags: Whilst it says multiple reincarnated individuals, it is irrelevant until quite late into the translated chapters (the original story is like a thousand chapters long I think, so... yeah)

TL;DR It's for people that want actual premises and grinding powerlevels in the early stages (not that long, as there's also some struggle before the grind starts), or just like RPG style OP MC isekai. Gender Bender is a + for me, and helps contribute somewhat to the eventual change in personal from the MC of Japan to the MC of the isekai world.

Raw Review (at Ch 600ish) : 4 Stars (no heavy spoilers maybe, still read your own risk)
Spoiler

The Story has lots of repetitive fluff scenes that serve 0 plot purposes after the main heroine appears, and everything up to the end of the 'first story' feels incredibly generic, which ends around the c230ish chapter mark. There are a few gimmicks that make it not feel like a completely copy and pasted storywriting formula such as slightly unique and unexpected abilities from side characters, but overall it's pretty plain, especially when the MC gains the ability to revive the dead and yet the story still tries to make things tense.

For what I call 'part 2' of the story where there are new main casts which nature I shall not reveal, the novel becomes great again, where there is actual tension and plot, as well as cool new abilities and new romances. Eventually the part 2 protagonist (s) fight a final battle alongside the part 1 protagonists, and up to that point it's good. Then everything after that point (around chapter 500ish) goes downhill, and I've dropped the raws since long and repetetive chapters of going to watch a person in a real world judo competition when they have the partial stat boosts of isekai abilities is simply boring, especially when the result is predictable. The real life slice of life part is what ruined the raws for me.

At the beginning Chapter 3-24 are boring. No social interaction at all. It mostly just information about the system of the world and how MC that was gamer able to level up rapidly.

BUT the story gets really interesting since chapter 26.

So you can just skip Chapter 3-24. (I can't bring myself to continue read this story in chapter 13. So I skip to chapter 25)

... more>> The story is always grinding. It is the name of this novel "levelmaker". (But too much at the beginning)

Great story but poor start.

Read this story in Re:Library; Go to index page. I recommend.

This wn is a bit disappointing.

I mean, I came here for the gender bender tag but we get nothing. Aside from this there's no real plot, it's just lvling, stats, dungeon. The MC don't seems to care about being in another world, another maybe of (maybe) another s*x... Etc

It make me remember of s*ave harem and why I abandoned it, too much stats and repetitive pattern.

Well I will still wait for any improvement after the MC kill the boss of the dungeon (if tl-san come back) but I can't... more>> for now tell you if this novel is worth a try. It's short and carefree so maybe you don't loose that much time. <<less

Really mediocre, but it’s a guilty pleasure reading a story where MC can just really go to town on someone. It’s confusing at times, annoying at others, but it’s cheap and easy.

hmm how should I say it, initial world setting is good because it is balanced where everybody is starting with same status and can become OP if they want to grind their level eventualy, but it has suck conversion efficiensy,

MC forgot about what is Strugling and go straight to easy-mode rute

MC will be like "oh my friend dying" lets make Legendary Potion that can revive dead person with skill "item master" dan "dark matter creation" and the cost is only 140MP

MC will be like "oh my enemy is too... more>> OP" lets syntesis more Skill so I will become more OP to defeat that enemy

MC will be like "uh I run-out Skill point to leveling my skill" lets go search for dungeon and troll power-leveling there million time and let set out for just a day

so balance but unbalanced ???? <<less

There's a lot of interesting ideas in this story, although mostly in the way the skill system is set up.

In the end though as you read through, it becomes ever more difficult to call it a "story" as it essentially becomes a list of bullet points or a checklist of actions.

Certainly it's worth a read for the earlier chapters but the lack of suspense, tension, challenge (for the protagonist), character depth (anywhere) and character development (again, anywhere), ended up killing what interest I had in it.

The worldbuilding and character development isn't interesting. The protagonist is overpowered never has to work at anything. "I need a magic sword! I'll make it! I've made it! (Others: wow, she made that really fast!")

Well, never mind the ~30 chapters of "grinding" (info dump), since the chapters are short anyway and never mind the first TL group as well...

but the problem remains that there are leaps and bounds in logic and story telling that it does not only feel unnatural, it most certainly is. There is just too much to retort to, with such thick plot armor is just silly and the characters acting way too good to her. I think that if she is not a prime example for Mary Sue, than no... more>> one else is and

I sure have read about a lot of characters which swiftly became OP (or started as such), building questionable harems, currying favor from everyone at the tender age of 3-5, however the mental gymnastics one has to do here are literary on Olympic levels albeit her being older than that. And one has to do those constantly. <<less

It's directionless so while well written, you can get bored very quickly.

That can* be a good thing, allowing changes in pacing or new interests/areas to explore. Here it doesn't work really well. He is levels very hard then stops. Then it's a gag novel. Then it's a fighting arc.

These broad changes and lapses in personality make it difficult to lock onto the MC and the story. Not horrible but I don't have the connection needed to read through a part I don't like.

I have mixed feelings about this story, there are several things I can criticize and praise about it.

lets start with the negative aspects of the novel: it goes from one end of the extreme spectrum to the other. With this I mean the 2 complete tone changes that happen within this story. The first bit is similar to what the description says., which I quite enjoyed to read. Then the tone completely switches to a romance slice of life and side stories. Neither really move the main plot anymore, and... more>> it's like this for about 450 chapters. If you were to skip these chapters, you would not miss much relevant information, I nearly dropped the novel because of this. However, after getting though these chapters, the story really picks up again turning back to it's roots but at a faster pace (less description of the grinding). The lack of progression does tie back to the conclusion of the story though.

next negative: the gender change bit in this story is nothing more than a gag. If the MC was male, not much would change I think. Especially with the gender change skill the MC obtains really early in the story (before the gender was ambiguous anyway) small positive: it is later explained how the MC can accept and adapt to living as a girl so easily and I like the fact that his romantic partner also obtains this skill later in the story. (It really fits the partners character)

now to the positives:

  • it's not a typical harem story! With this I mean side characters aren't hopelessly pursuing the MC, rather they find their own love interests and live their lives without the MC's involvement as well.
  • the romance is consistent, but unique to each pair. (Ranging from really shy to straight up yandere)
  • the characters grow in personality and behavior
  • the action is well written and does not rely on plot armor (anyone can die)
  • real danger.
  • plot twists are logical and had enough preparation.
  • almost no overly lengthy narrated explanations.
  • lives up to the name level maker.
tl;dr: overall I think the story is written well, if it wasn't for the complete lack of progression half way. The first 1/3d was good and last 1/3th of the saved the story for me. The middle bit was too different from the rest. <<less

This is super cute and all the transferees/reincarnators end up being super powerful from leveling up a ton (natives apparently focus on skill proficiency), but it is fairly absurd how easy it is to level and how uncommon it is for folks to be super-high levels.

Anyway, all that being said, this work is soooo hetero! I thought it was going to be gender-bending into pseudo-yuri, but the primary relationship between the gender bender and a girl has the character constantly changing into a man to flirt and date. All the... more>> side relationships are also hetero and my only hope is the princess, but I'm not optimistic. Huge disappointment! <<less

I like this quite a bit. Its a bit of a new spin on Isekai novels I personally believe it to be well written as far as I have seen. My only issue is that the translator is slow, I don't know if they have dropped it or what however there are more than 10 times what have been translated on here. I enjoy how some times the point of view switches to another perspective and or character. In my opinion it is worth checking out either if your bored... more>> or just want something new to read.

Characters have a bit of depth to them if you pay attention, and the novel has okay world building (I have started reading the jpmtl version from where this has left off) the world building may get even better later on for all I know. I enjoy how the main character is a bit laid back and the fact that he gets stronger as time goes by not like how in some novels a character has something happen and suddenly they start to get super powerful. The main character actually works for it, sometimes getting injured but having had thought ahead so as to be able to survive. And even as he gets stronger there seems to be others who are still stronger occasionally.

Abilities are somewhat methodical and creative in the way he gets them. And even when he gets a new ability he works to strengthen it.

again this is only my opinion so dont just take my word for it, take a look for yourself. <<less

I don't understand how they even made the status window so goddamn complicated. Instead of using normal terms like DMG, DEX, AGI, they decided to use A (damage), C (dexterity), W (willpower or magic power) and while I would find this annoying most books like this just have it as a number and you can just skip past the stats and enjoy the book but this isn't even the tip of the iceberg. SK stands for skills, SK1 is magic, SK2 is martial arts, then you have the multiple paragraph... more>> explanations for those two. I could keep going on about it but my point is they way way overcomplicated the status window to the point that I'm dropping the series because of it. If the book had a good storyline and was well written then I might have kept reading it but so far all that's happened is the main character crying that he died before confessing to his childhood friend (which I'm assuming has a 100% probability of coming to that world with him somehow and them getting in a relationship) and then the crappy dialog of him talking to himself while reading the descriptions of the stats. Overall the start of the book is either so poorly written or translated that I can't even get far enough in the book to figure out if the storyline is good or not. <<less

Start at chapter 25. Seriously. Nothing happens for the first 24 chapters, all you need to know is:

Spoiler

MC is reborn in a world with an RPG like leveling system and gets lots of experience (way more than anyone else seems to get as far as I can tell and there's not really a good explanation for why). Is left super OP with a bag of holding and the ability to gender swap (even the TL isn't sure if the MC was reborn as a girl or not, but it seems like it's just a really girly face so he swaps to girl for 'convenience'). There are no other characters or plot that you missed, it's 95% killing monsters and increasing skill points and skills in a super monotonous way.

[collapse]

Things actually start to move after chapter 25 but there really isn't a clear direction or plot so far. But the translation is very readable and the MC isn't unlikable nor are any of the supporting characters. Hopefully the MC gets some agency and purpose some time soon or I'd say don't bother reading it at all.

If you haven't read 'Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka?' I'd highly recommend that over this story. It does the early leveling thing in a much more interesting and readable way that progresses the story. Although the MC is a spider which is a bit odd, it's a much better story. <<less
