Residing within the dense forest in Nore are the beautiful elves of Elune Forest. After the young elves began to be hunted by the humans to become s*aves, the Queen of Elune decided that young elves could not leave the forest until after their adult ceremony at fifty years old. When Hai’an’s ceremony finally arrived, he was excited to be able to finally travel away from his home and see everything the world had to offer. However, he got more than he bargained for.

What was supposed to be a simple ceremony turned into Hai’an transmigating to the body of… a plant?!

Stuck as a small sapling called Shaking Grass, Hai’an was bought and given as a birthday gift to a retired Starfleet Marshal named Auguste.

After retiring due to political conflict, Auguste spends his time trying to find more of his missing race, the ancient dragons. Unexpectedly receiving Hai’an, Auguste believes him to be nothing more than a rare, exotic plant. To his surprise, he finds that this little plant is intelligent and learns more and more every day.

How will this stoic, unfeeling dragon fall in love with the little transmigrated elf who lost his body?

Personally, I don't like the writing style. It's clearly in correct grammar but why does it hard to understand what is going on. What I hate in reading a book is guessing game, because what I might think be different of what it was and it only leads to confusion afterwards. I don't know if it's the translator's fault or it was written this way.

It's also boring. I hate to write this review without even going halfway through it but upon seeing all the spoilers around it only made me... more>> more disinterested.

The premise was fine, but it was not utilized and executed well. <<less

I had to stop reading this novel because the MC and ML frustrated me for very obvious reasons.

The novel itself is not that good in my honest opinion. The MC and ML weird vibes aside, if you were to get rid of the MC, at least in the beginning, there wouldn’t be.. Much of a difference in the main plot. The MC is there to react and make the ML feel happy. The plots in the story suddenly come in an out without any closure. There is so much infor... more>> dumping in the middle of scenes.

E.g. The information suddenly dumped in the middle of the fight with Cessie and Dean.

One thing that kept me from going 1 star, is that the story itself is really good. If maybe the main characters weren’t as weird, I would’ve continued.

Honestly, I personally would’ve rather read the story from the POV of Jamie or Carl nd Lydney.

Also, to anyone saying that MC and ML’s relationship is Normal or ‘Just Different’, or saying it’s okay because the MC is ‘technically 50’, do you not.. Hear yourself? So because the mind is mature, it doesn’t matter the age and appearance of the body? Does the phrase “You’re so mature for your age.” ring any bells?

Besides, we’re not talking human years, the MC ‘transmigrated’ as SOON as he turned into an adult based off the Elf years.

Stop huffing copium, please. <<less

The only thing that I hate here is the name that the ML gave the MC which means bit*h 😬🖕

I think Hai'an and Auguste have the same age? Didn't elves, dwarfs, and dragons live in the same planet? The Queen of the elf let the elves sleep for a long time while the dragons pushed their children inside the ship to escape.

Hai'an's memory was when he was 50 year old. 🤷🏻‍♀️ SPOILER ALERT!!

Every chapter has evidence especially Chapter 50 where Hai' an said in the continent of Nore, something about battlefield where he was baptized also the war of the six major races spread to every corner of the land. When he woke up he became a plant. Obviously, he is already old the same age or older than Auguste and Carl since when August and Carl Escape from the planet they were a child I think (6? 7?) And Hai'an was already ready to have his Adult ceremony something. Hey! Hai'an is the one eating Young grass here 😭😂😂 but anyway who cares? They are dragon and elf so shut the fak up 😂 <<less

An emotional rollercoaster with an unsatisfactory ending

That's what this story was, which isn't a completely bad thing but I really can't forgive the fact a character that was pouring his heart out in almost every arc was COMPLETELY forgotten after he was so f*cking close to his goal!!!!!!!! (ノ`Д´) ノ彡┻━┻

I believe that a few of these cps would've been even better if they were given their own story entirely instead of renting on this one; even the main couple were thrown aside without being developed some more. *SIGH*... more>> ಥ_ಥ

On a positive note, there were a ton of fluffy, funny and yellow scenes... The sappy lines are of course oozing out of my screen that I could taste it. I fell in love with the characters, the world building and the plot; even tho it wasn't consistent nor complete but the imagery was wonderful and I really appreciate that (◍•ᴗ•◍) ✧*。 <<less

I feel like I had to depend this story from all the bad review. It really beautiful. Sweet and fluffy...❤️❤️❤️

I love this to the bone...???

Well all I can say to the reader: "BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER"

... more>> People have "different" taste in everything. Just because they say didnt like this story. You would not like it too.

After reading the review on story I almost decide not to read it but been to many stories with bad review but unexpectedly good so I decide to tried this one.

My conclussion is: ITS WORTH READING FOR.

The story flow is good. I wonder why they say its badly written and unorganize. As a picky ready myself I can this book is quite written very good. Like I say different people have different taste.

You try this story yourself! ❤️

This is a very sweet and fluffy sci-fi interstellar romance between an old dragon and a plant!

Even though the overall tone of the novel is light, there is some drama here and there to keep the tension going. From fighting against mechs/robots to reuniting with old acquaintances now turned enemies, the MC and ML bond together through their perilous journey across space and time!

MC: an elf transmigrated into the body of a plant then eventually turns back into his elf form; age is 50 years old

ML: an old dragon, captain... more>> of a small legion, and approx. 500+ years old (another example of an old cow eating tender grass if you know what I mean ;)

Side characters: there are a lot of side characters and more than half of them are gay; funny enough most of the members in ML's legion/team (or in the story in general) are gay and their partners are plants turned into humans or robots/mechs that have gained sentience.

Overall: This is a fairly chill read, nothing too overdramatic or exciting, just your plain old interstellar clichés and a big melting pot of gayness. A good novel to read in your spare time! <<less

Good premise, but I feel like the execution lacks a lot. I stayed because of how cute Jian Jian is, but honestly I was confused most of the times. The plot jumped from one to another, and author over complicate everything (at least in my opinion). There's too much going on, and the MC faded in the background it felt like he's just a side character. I swear it can be a very good story under a good writing.

The cute parts are cute. But then there are the creepy oarts. And if you try to ignore the creepy parts as a transitional phase, the rest of it is kinda boring. So much potential wasted.

I absolutely loved the first part. The world-building was interesting, the way the plant was learning to navigate the world was interesting, the introduction of the characters and their quirks, how the understanding was slowly building up between the to-be couple... etc. That's why this novel got 3 stars.

Then it went downhill fast somewhere in the middle. In addition to the creepy ambiguous brothers dynamics and child grooming vibes, the events were too fragmented and jumpy, they failed to keep my interest and I don't even know who most of... more>> the side characters and villains were, they were so forgettable. It's funny when of all the non-crew characters, the one you remember the most is a bug, and only because it's a bug. As a result, I was not invested at all in the political conflict so those parts just slipped through my brain like a sieve. I couldn't remember any of it right after reading it, except that some woman became a monster and for some unknown reason wanted to kill the elf, and then there was a flood.

Although "everyone is gay" used to grind my gears, I'm kinda used to it by now as an unavoidable trope I have to put up with, but the reason I'm mentioning it here is that the side couples are so shallowly explored that all their parts read more like filler than content. And in addition to "everyone is gay, " you get "many people are gay for plants"... yeah. The only well-presented side couple is Uncle Ye and Palatine, and that's only because they got their own mini-arc (basically an extra) with a plot that had some continuity, and did not jump around (at least not in the beginning) like the rest of the novel's ADHD plot.

This would have been a good novel if it weren't so disjointed. The world is pretty interesting and could have held up the whole novel if the writing was even a tiny bit better. <<less

the first half was great but for the second half, I ended up just muddle-reading through it. I was ready to drop it at around 100 because the story became feeling to cramped? Dean's story left a bad taste in my mouth - I needed to pause inbetween and read other novels - but Dean and Jamie is is my favorite characters, no doubt.

I guess when the author was writing this, they didn't expect it to end at only 120ish chapters. That's the feel I got. Also the extras made... more>> me tear up haha. I ended up liking the side characters instead of the main protagonists.

If you're just going to casually read it (like me while waiting for other novels to update) it's an ok choice. <<less

The beginning is funny! It made me stayed put and decided to read till finish.

The word building is very very vast, much more detail than star wars the movie, with mix of some kind of cultivation and fantasy theme.

All the support characters are memorable, and more interesting than MC and ML. Around chapter 80s, I only interested reading those support characters story than MC and ML.

I cried reading this, and strangely all the tears were not for MC and ML story parts. It's for those support characters. Their backgrounds and... more>> stories are enough to make me stay till the end.

I'm not satisfied with MC and ML characters. ML character changed after MC has his human form, ML just turns into the sterotypical ML, black belly, drinking vinegar everyday, pe*verted. And MC turned into you typical innocent coquetish bottom. Making me tired reading them. <<less

I really liked the premise of this story and it was kinda interesting in the beginning but most of the time I just read through my confusion hoping I know what I'm reading half of the time which makes me even more confused. Even with the meng relationship between MC and ML can't make me any more interested in this novel anymore. Maybe I have comprehension problem etc but wtf is up with inconsistent character like

As a fan of non-human fantasy BL, this was a rather unique and interesting ride as the author managed to make a lovestory between a dragon and a plant believable. The first few chapters were adorable and I loved the cute interactions between August and Hai'an the shaking grass. It reminded me of "The number one lazy merchant of the beast world" which I recommend if you liked this one.

The world building is simply amazing, with plenty of details of races, planets, society, politics and military and I loved that.... more>> There are some writing/editing/translation issues because some sentences were incomprehensible but overall, they are really not that serious.

Also, about the shota that many seems to be complaining about. To me, there is none. The MC Hai'an is a 50yrs old elf who although has the appearance of a child at first, is never abused at any stages of his growth. He is not a weak character who can be easily bullied. Not once did he complain about being abused by ML then why in hell do people always want to see drama when there is none? People who constantly finds potential victims in everything and everywhere, please go consult because it's damn serious! <<less

The translation is probably the biggest challenge for this story as it's edited MTL. I very much appreciate the big efforts the editors went through to work with it, but there are still many parts with sentences strung together that don't seem to be connected or make sense.

A big problem with edited MTL is that it lacks detail. Tons of reviewers (including me) complain about the abruptness, lack of detail, lack of foreshadowing, etc. and I honestly can't tell if it's the author or the MTL translation.

Additionally, the author seems... more>> to have a very fast-paced writing style (no over-wordy paragraphs here) which means that there's even a higher chance that the edited MTL drops a ton of important details because the author seldom repeats themselves.

-

Other than the slightly disturbing shota-con/infantilism in the middle, the rest of the book was surprisingly creative.

It reminded me of Firefly with the space opera/mercenaries/interstellar futuristic world. Lots of humor, action, battles, intrigue, and interesting side characters (none of the villains are black-and-white and they each have their motivations/backstories and often very sad pasts).

While the world felt very "full" like there are many more mysteries to discover as not everything is explained but seemed to work together to form a coherent whole, there were some pacing issues as some big events would seemingly just happen out of nowhere (could be a MTL problem yet again), with no foreshadowing or explanation on how it's possible

Spoiler

such as a singer suddenly turning into a weird cannibal and then somehow teleporting but then everyone disappears and only the MC remains and the reader has no clue how/why any of that happened or even that it was possible...

[collapse]

Other than that, this is a pretty original story that doesn't often appear on NU. Great pick! <<less

I don't know why others rated this novel low but I really had fun reading this. This is unique and weird, in sense that I haven't read the kinds of scenes before. Maybe others may find this story shallow for the fast paced events happening but I think its enough for it to be interesting to read. It has angst and drama but more on fluff side.
Spoiler

The MC & ML's interactions are sweet. And other couples too. This is a HE.

Oh, it also has smut scenes. ?

I was really excited to read this, and it was interesting for a while, albeit a bit messy, but then it just felt flat. Everything became confusing and uninteresting, and after a while, I stopped liking the characters.

Basically, it got really messy, and it felt like the author was whipping out plot points and plot holes out of their bu*t and slamming in new characters who aren't interesting. The characters pretty much show up, reveal their sad past, let readers feel a bit of angst, develop 20% of their personality,... more>> get randomly matched up for no complex or realistic reason, and then have s*x in their happy ending. After a while, there were so many characters I didn't care about that everything just felt confusing and stretched. The author also randomly pairs up people to ensure they're not alone, and a lot of relationships felt random and not very deep.

Also, the author wasn't really clear in descriptions, often making it difficult to understand what was going on. The plot's pace sped up and slowed down, so it also got kinda confusing. The MC's personality is kinda nonexistent too. I felt that beauty (the author writes so many descriptions about the characters' beauty) overwhelmed personality in the novel.

Basically: messy, too many flat characters, too complicated and not very useful worldbuilding, and unrealistic love.

I really tried to like the novel, but after reading all of it... I kinda regretted it as a waste of an afternoon. I pretty much agree with mrews' review. <<less
