A pretty good novel. Not too exceptional in writing, nor too bad. Just good enough to pass free time and read something decent.

Don't set your expectations too high while reading this, and just read it for enjoyment, rather than like a detective/mystery novel.

I like the fact how MC doesn't act like an emo embarrassed character in puberty around the girls. The romance is really slow placed, but good for this kind of novel. I'm really looking forward to when

I love this novel. Let's talk about it.

Main Character

Alright, our main character Kyle/Leo is quite enjoyable to read. He's not an a**hole, he acts rationally, he's not the type that gets blushed easily, and most importantly he's not a pe*vert. He's a grown man both in mind and behaviour. He's very wise, capable of deciding what's right and wrong. Quite charismatic should I say. As far as I read, I can't find any fault in him, other than that he's actually too perfect to be true. (Okay maybe his... more>> cold and harsh personality can be a flaw but I don't find it to be a problem). I'm waiting for him to show a flaw, like c'mon.

In the entire series, Kyle/Leo acts as a kind of guide for the young hero to become stronger. He views all his classmates, senior, and junior in the academy as young fledglings that need to be prepared for the last final battle. You might feel him a little bit distant with all the side characters, which makes sense since he's older than all his peers in terms of mental age. Still, there are fun and cute moments to enjoy with all the side characters which I mainly view as "grandfather playing with his grandkids moments'' lol.

Side Characters

I love all the side character. Kyle party member ; Luna, Aron, Risinas, and Dweno, Leo classmates ;Karl, Chelsea, Illyana, Chen Xia, Eliza, Abad, Celia, Chloe, Runia, Eiran and many more. All of them are so unique that you can differentiate them just by dialogue. I like that every side character have personality that you can categorize.

For example, Karl is the weak happy go lucky guy who actually quite talented. Eliza, is the ojou-sama type with a hidden tsundere heart. Illyana, is the comedic relief with her silly lines. Runia, is the honor student that kept her foul personality a secret. Eiran is the shy bookworm with a questionable imagination.

I mean, all of them are so different and distinct. You can't help to remember how all these characters speak and behave.

Plot

I'd say, this novel is very easy to read and understand. There are no underlying plot twists. No convoluted plot. There's no overarching and dragging arc. It simply moves with this formula (problem arises- MC fight it-problem solved). Not saying it's bad though but if you're looking for the tension gripping and suspense then this novel is not for you. This novel plot is totally predictable. Like you know that no matter how bad the situation is, our MC will see through it. Again it's not bad, it's just a matter of taste because for me every arc is very enjoyable to read. It's concise, not messy, it's very easy to follow.

I must say that I actually didn't expect the amount of angst that I get from this novel. I think around chapter 400 to 600, the arc between these chapters are so full of angst lol. I cried a few times, not gonna lie. It's always sad when talking about Kyle former party member. I hope that there's a side story for them when the main story is finished. Argh, seriously I get attached to Luna and Aron the most. Berkia too.

World Building

I think the world building is okay. There's not a lot of info dumping. You get some pieces of info here and there along the journey. Like it's enough to give you the picture how this world works. Not super impressive, but it's written well.

Power system

Again, very easy to understand. You literally don't need to remember bunch of sh*t of power terms. There's only 3 class that one can choose. Knight, Summoner, and Mage. That's it. Of course, each individual has some unique abilities that differentiate them than other people but mainly the power system works by dividing people into 3 categories.

Conclusion

Is this the best novel I ever read? No. Do I enjoy it? Very. I think this novel is great for casual read. Not too light, not too heavy. It's perfect if you're looking for a story where the MC is likeable and the side characters are not annoying. Truly a fun to read. <<less

So far I'm getting an overpowered MC that gets reincarnated vibe but with no noticeable topic to really hook my interest. I'll read the next few chapter since I'm a big fan of the overpowered MC trope. What's irking me at the moment is the mother calling her son "Leo Papi" which means she's calling him Leo Father? For some odd reason.

Ive read this novel actually, but not from here. So I dont know about the translation or anything about that. Visser said that its like damn reincarnation but I read both and they dont match. This novel is Amazing and clearly Visser haven't read it all. Granted that the story starts before he enters the academy which is a bit boring but once you get the part where he actually enrolls it gets pretty exiting. The best part about this is when people actually discovers that there are 5 Great... more>> heroes, not just 4. And they find out that the Great hero Kyle is the one who defeated the boss. But that gets unraveled pretty slowly and in around 200 chapters. So you may have to wait a bit. But still the novel is pretty good. Its hinted to be a harem but story not done yet so we have to wait and ssee. Story is amazing one of the best in this site I believe. Up there with Flashing Genius. Give it a try <<less

*yeah its pretty much a straight shot plagiarism of damn reincarnation. if you want to read this exact story except written and translated better in every way go read that instead.

Start reading from maybe chapter 5?

The first chapter will make you want to never touch it again, and the next few arent much better. Chapter 6 is the standard 2 people about to try out for the super duper academy, one being the KNOWN genius and the other being the op MC.

At this point I'm not sure if its worth... more>> reading... but I will continue. I still consider the first chapter so bad that it makes the entire story almost unsalvageable though.

also.... 5000 years is pretty ridiculous. Not sure what the author was aiming for... but dear lord does it make you question things you dont want to.

also also.... the dialogue is toeing the line of childishness. I understand what the author was going for, and I'm pretty sure it's not a translation error. the author is writing at a 5/6th grade level because thats the target audience I suppose?

also also also I dont know the condition of the world yet... but this super duper academy is following the korean weirdness where only the best of the best of the best are allowed in, and there is a massive death rate for entreants and students. unless the school passes out insane elixers and skills and passives, there is no way in hell it would exist. a single very powerful family would ally with other families to attack and kill the entire faculty if their new heirs went there and died

*got to chapter 12, main character is a noble of 2 different houses. his parents own a mansion with servants, and the titles of f*cking marquis... and they cant afford to give their son any money, including the costs for weirdly expensive and mandatory clothes for the super duper academy. lowering the score to a 1. if you want to read it, have fun. its probably better than some things out there. <<less

This is a spoiler free review, so no need to worry about spoiler.

Let's start with the downsides.

This novel definitely isn't flawless. There are noticeable plot holes, and at times, the power scaling feels inconsistent. The world-building doesn't offer anything particularly remarkable either. But the biggest issue for me is the character development—while this is supposed to be the novel's main focus, it becomes repetitive after a while. The same patterns keep repeating, and it starts to feel a bit tedious (Especially so after around 300 chapters). On top of that,... more>> the author spends a disproportionate amount of time on one side character (who, frankly, I'm indifferent to), while sidelining others that I found more interesting, like the potential harem member.

Now for the good stuff:

First off, the main character is very OP, and I'm all for it. Unlike many other novels where the protagonist tries to hide their power, here the MC fully show off his power when needed, which is refreshing.

As for the character development (which, again, is the novel's main selling point), it's solid. Almost every side character gets a chance to shine and showcase their own motivations and personality. The main cast is particularly well-developed, with each member having their own unique traits and arcs that make them stand out.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Despite its flaws, like inconsistent power scaling and repetitive character development, this novel is still incredibly enjoyable. The overpowered main character is a nice change of pace, and the character development, while repetitive at times, still shines, especially with the side characters getting their moments. It may not be perfect, but it stands head and shoulders above many other novels out there, making it a highly satisfying read overall. <<less

Action is... Cool, ngl on that...

I really like how the MC is a reincarnated hero from the past and how he's raising the new generation of heroes. There are definitely some overused tropes in the academy making it kinda similar to Necromancer Academy's Genius Summoner but also different due to the depth of experiences the MC has from his time during the Age of Calamity. While there are flaws with plot holes, it's bearable and the character development of the MC and the characters around him is pretty impressive. I think the unique point of... more>> the story would be the Hero Records where future generations can relive the past through the recorded history and gain insights/power from the past. Feels pretty mid.

Storyline is pretty common. Overpowered hero protagonist reborn and attends school to find out why he was forgotten.

There's some Hogwarts-esque elements, such as a point system, and a ball sport. Humbling aristocrats as well.

I didn't find anything really outstanding with this story.

I strongly recommend giving this novel a try, and at least give it 100 chapters.

This is, like, one of the few novels where I actually went out of my way to read the MTL, because I enjoyed it so much. The problem is that I read the MTL a while back, and the site that had MTL'ed it removed it, so I kinda regret writing a review so late. Although Kyle and Leo are the same person (Leo is Kyle reincarnated), I will use their names separately in some instances... more>> to differentiate Kyle, the Hero of the Beginning, and Leo the student.

Element-wise, one of the things I really liked about this novel is the concept of Hero Records. I find the concept of being able to re-live the past in the present really cool, and I haven't read many novels (that I can think of) that have this concept. Major spoiler (though I think you find this out/can figure it out really quickly),

One of the things that I like about this novel is the character cast. Since there are a lot of characters, it's not like the character description is super duper fleshed out, but the cast is certainly lively. Although it is an academy novel, it really does feel like the characters are acting their age (teenagers), which I greatly enjoy. There's your pick of reserved characters to super-feisty, arrogant characters.

From that, throughout the story, I really liked reading them grow. Not just as heroes skill-wise, but as people too. For instance, throughout the Chap. 300s,

there is a focus on Chelsea where she really asks herself, "Why am I in the academy?"

It's something relatable to people all over the world who enter college with impostor syndrome. A lot of the characters change over time, and although I can't remember exactly what happens, I definitely remember that at the time, I felt very happy reading. When you have 700+ chapters (even if it's MTL) of a novel you really enjoy, time just flies.

As for the main character, Kyle/Leo, I'm not gonna sit here and say he's the most developed MC in the world. There could be a little to be desired in terms of Kyle/Leo's emotions, but one of the points that I think is brought up sometime (I can't remember when) is that Leo's drive to eradicate Erebos is so great that he does not have the time for anything else. He himself acknowledges it, which I think was cool writing. Other than that, he doesn't really have any flaws, which I think is a little bit of bad writing.

For the good, I really like how Kyle/Leo is a great teacher. A lot of these regressor novels include MCs that are really cynical and are living a min-maxing life. Leo is not just that. He isn't looking for elixirs, he isn't looking for hidden talents that haven't been unearthed yet, etc. Instead, Leo is a natural-born leader (duh) who grows his followers naturally. As Leo, he's always willing to be that wide back who can protect the hero candidates no matter the circumstance. When he
Spoiler

enters a Hero Record and temporarily becomes Kyle, his back grows wide enough to protect even the strongest of warriors.

[collapse]
Just his existence alone is a powerful motivator for all the hero candidates, and he isn't afraid to teach them as well. A lot of these regressors try to do everything by themselves. In contrast, Kyle acknowledges that he needs to properly nurture these hero candidates for the fight against Erebos. He knows he can't do it alone, like how Kyle could only seal Erebos (this isn't really a spoiler, this is talked about in like the first 5 chapters, I think).

And I think my favorite element of this novel is the romance subplots. A lot of these damn novels can't write romance for shit, or don't even include romance. Yerona isn't afraid of pairing up the cast, and I love that. (Romance spoilers)
Spoiler

Abad and Cecilia (who doesn't love a good rivals-to-lovers subplot LMFAO), and Eliza and Karl are the two that come to mind; there could be more, but I can't remember. I can't necessarily remember the details of the former, but I think they were both super embarrassed to learn that they were both into each other, which I thought was really sweet. They tried playing off dates as scouting trips, and I think Chelsea realizes it. I forgot how the latter pair figured out they were into each other.

[collapse]
, Assistant Professor Anna jokingly points out that Leo always has a swarm of pretty girls all over him, and asks him if he feels good about it. He very seriously replies, "It feels like a crime." If I remember correctly, this isn't an isolated thing either; he'll repeatedly make it known that it feels like a crime. Many author's will do the bare minimum and acknowledge the regression age gap, but I really liked how Yerona pretty much said "f*ck no, they're too young." The door might be open in the future after Erebos is sealed, though it looks like I won't be reading that future any time soon : ( <<less
