As far as this is a cultivation story with a female protagonist, it doesn't have what most of the novels in this genre have.

"You got on my nerves, so I will kill you!"

"You did something bad to me, so I will get my revenge at all costs!"

... more>> "I don't try to offend anyone, but if you offend me don't blame me for paying it in double!"

You don't have the psychotic practitioners; well, some have obsessions, but it's not a norm. Like the world is filled with individuals that are self-centered and have some serious thief and mu*der tendencies aligning if their interests are in the line or not. It's not a complete law of the jungle. Heck, it's the moderns world so let's just get more rational. You have the head-over-heels over the MC guys, but they are not s*upid "my CEO is badass, domineering and possessive" or two dimensional.

It is a cultivation novel but sometimes it feels like a slice of life take on the cultivation world. You have enemies, you have trials, you have dangers, you have mysteries, but you still see the protagonist itching to go back home to have dinner with her family, invite her friends and simply have a good time. The flow of the history has this flavor of more down to earth than all the novels I've read of this genre.

The history begins when the protagonist, Lin Luoran, after being dumped by her fiancee (typical), gets humiliated but doesn't swear that the cheating couple will pay back her in double. Since the ex chooses another path in life, let's just be strangers and put my life forward. She asks her fiancee back the bracelet that she gave him, an engagement memento. By accident her blood happens to get into contact with it, activating it. Afterward, her life changed and she is set to embark on the road of cultivation.

She starts her path in a declining cultivation world or the current modern world. It has been abandoned by the precessors monks because it was foretold that cultivation here was going to be ruined and escaped to a more prosperous land. The reiki is thin, polluted and hard to be absorbed so what you get is a really weak abandoned cultivation community

No teachers to show her the way, she just blindly finds her path and perseveres. Even tho her luck is really absurdly good, if she had not the determination, faith, and effort, she would be in the end just a hi-end farmer and end her days soon.

She is super filial, values their loved ones greatly, has firm beliefs. This is a very likable MC. It's not a mary sue, it's not a cheating machine that knows it all, she is portrayed as just a simple human being. In the end, what happens in her life are paved by her choices - just like you and me.

If it's one thing that I would want to complain is that in the end,
Spoiler

we don't have an epilogue telling us what became of her after the final chapter. We have extras but they just portray other pov's and life of other characters. I was itching to know how the things went in her end, but alas.

.

All in all, it's a really good history. It's really refreshing to see an MC that is s*upidly naive, soft and merciful struggles with her choices and how it changes her time after time. She has to grow up, learn to be a sheath and when to be a sword - but we all know that in the end, she is softer after all. She doesn't blame others, blame the world, blames her circumstances for the bad things that happen to her. She just knows that she learned something from and what she needs at the end is to continue to keep going forward.

I would recommend this for anyone. <<less

cultivation with modern female protagonist. She is amazing. This woman has mastered the dao of common sense... not like your usual run of the mill female mc's, she is quite cool and collected and I am rooting for her to get far!10/10 for this baby! Back to mtl now.... at ch54 now, this is getting awkward nowand kinda disappointing. Her bestfriend is engaged to this guy (Liu Zheng) and he gave her a job and all. This guy has even met her best friends grandpa/guardian. And now there is this ambiguous behavior between them. If he ends up as the ML, I will be so ticked off. Going for your besties dude even passively is a no-no. Ok, she shuts him down quick in the next chapter.

ok... skipped to some of the end chapters and I only see Mu Tiannan :)

Somewhere between a 2 and 3 leaning towards a 2. It's like so many webnovels that confuse size with quality and engage in tricks that ruin the story to make it longer. Among the worst are

pointless pov shifts

  • introducing characters just so they can have a long backstory dump
  • cutting out in the middle of action scenes for an exposition dump
  • repetition, repetition, repetition
  • explaining things to death
These take what was a really good story and turn it into a subpar story. There's also a few too many overused tropes

  • coma (multiple)
  • kidnapping (multiple)
  • posession (multiple)
  • amnesia (multiple)
About all it doesn't have from the land of cliche are evil twins

Very enjoyable, despite a few irritating moments the author has really given the FL a good head on her shoulders. She is not needlessly ruthless, meddlesome or immature like most female leads. She takes time cultivating and making medicines through experimentation just for the purpose of helping her family and close friends.

The novel, though I have not finished reading it, I can tell it uses the right amount of intrigue to hook a reader. Give this novel a chance, it's such a gem.

Hard to tell if it's the translator or the author, but the writing is subpar - not as bad as say, Please Sign, but still bad.

The MC is like a blind man groping in the dark, stumbling across things she has no idea how to use, yet still she is still able to cultivate. At first this seemed a bit much but it is addressed and dealt with well so it's not too hard to believe. I'm interested to see where this goes. The pacing is good, and the MC... more>> is likeable.

The title seriously confuses me though. Like, can people have more than one journey to immortality? Isn't the whole point that once you become immortal, you, er, stay immortal. Or is it referring to the fact that she is the first person to achieve immortality - but then what about the maker of her treasure? Google translate seems to be saying "The Lin Family's First Female Immortal"... (which makes more sense but idk Chinese so...?) <<less

It's early days, but I am fairly exited with this novel and probably going to be a glutton as when done with the posted translated chapters will more likely carry on reading it in raws. What could I say that it is one of my favorite genre a 'Cultivation' novel and with a female MC at that!!!! That is very rare as majority of cultivations novels have a male MC. It has a very interesting start and for a changed it is not a transmigration novel....

I read the raws and enjoyed the novel up to the scene in the hospital where the FL saves her best friend on the operating table relying on supernatural forces way beyond her cultivation level. The way it was done and what happened after that was silly. Add to that a disgusting ML, like truly revolting piece of stomach-churning shit, the worst ML ever, and I really began to dislike the story. Dropped.

It is good to read, but I don't know if the author is just lazy to write the full name of the characters. He/she always use surname and not the full name. I almost forgot the name of the Leading Character because of this issue.
