Fun read.

Not greek mythology accurate tho but still based on it give Hades (mc) more screentime

Like he appears in one of the myth he is canonically don't

Greek mythology nerd in me still like it so give it a try

To be honest, I only started reading this because I'm bored. I was expecting it to be your average power-scaling genre with the MC replacing Zeus or something.

But no, this was actually surprisingly good, and it completely hooked me up! Moreover, it's right up to my taste! There wasn't much fighting in the novel (maybe it's still too early), so it's better to not expect a high-tier battle of the gods and whatnot.

Almost all of the fight scenes are from other characters; MC just comes in to help or stop... more>> the fight.

The MC is chill, and as the god of the underworld, he has a gloomy aura in contrast to his personality (he's not very cheerful, but not gloomy either).

So anyway, try it out for yourself; after all, everyone has a different taste, so some of you may or may not like it. But as for me, it's a perfect 5/5 (for now, c28).

Note: According to novel updates, the author is the same author of Beware of the Brothers and Suddenly Became a Princess One Day. <<less

It's a story telling the world of Greek mythology through the eyes of Hades, keep in mind, though, that he does bring changes into the world. They might be somewhat subtle at the beginning but they end up affecting the classic Hero stories in a positive way.

Our MC here, inspite of being human at the beginning, is more of a God in the story. His perspective, his lack of massive moves make sense this way tbh.

It's more of that he's a God who has lived through the humility of being... more>> human, he still thinks all godlike not personally stopping the God of r*pe, but does have human compassion and insecurities.

Overall it's kinda a slow burn, romance really starts from ch 60-70ish not bad.

Edit: fixed typo <<less

The entire thing reads like a retelling of events from the MCs perspective. You need a very basic level of Olympian gods but other than that it's really cool to see MC being a god albeit a more pragmatic and compassionate one. I would definitely recommend it.

Grammar and flow is top notch. So far I could not spot any thing that really makes MC hypocritical. MC also has character growth as well although as a god of the underworld his feelings are more on the mellow side.

Update:110: MC is... more>> at a stage where he finally accepted (proactively pursued) the love from the goddesses around him which was very cute considering the distance he put in between because the concern he had for them.

Regarding GoldenDog04 review hades has time and time again shown that he is against the other behaviour of other gods the very point you addressed has been bought up by Hades himself so no he is not an a**hole. Also this isn't an exact retelling as things change drastically when the not applied to the main storyline. At the beginning he himself could not beat the old pantheon of gods so he was left with working with Zeus and Poseidon. He mentioned restated that he was the weakest of the three major Olympian founder gods which I suspect is because his domain handled souls of the dead which before there weren't any making him weaker whereas Zeus and Poseidon were in their prime from the get go. There was also the threat of the old gods which for some reason seems to fly over your head.

Regarding his reincarnator status what can he possibly do to change when there is no such thing as a leveling system? This isn't a xianxia or a system novel. His ability to influence comes from of interactions (humans and gods alike) which in many circumstances have changed the current climate massively and re-addressed old stories in a new light (the people of Thebes are fully behind Hades
Spoiler

Finally, your reading comprehension up to 40 seems like a lie considering the very thing Heroes wanted was to join the Elysian fields or be worshipped as a new god. This was explained in the chapters by Hades and the Heroes themselves. <<less

The real rating is 2.5

At first it seems interesting, but I got tired of it closer to chapter 40.

The main character is a migrant / reincarnator / it is unclear what, but this fact is forgotten immediately with the words "it was so long ago I already forgot" moreover, he has no effect on the story. It would seem that as a modern person, he should be disgusted by everything that these gods do, but the emu does not care in general. He doesn't act like an a**hole, but he... more>> closes his eyes and doesn't prevent it, in other words, he's an a**hole. No logic, no consistency.

The underworld is like an old rusty mechanism ready to fall apart at any moment. Every time something breaks, they just solve the problem in some way and forget about it until the next time.

In matters of love, the main character and his harem behave like the heroes of a dumb Japanese romantic comedy. Are they schoolchildren or gods? Zeus and his r*pes are less ridiculous than Hades and his women.

As for the heroes, they are dummies. The world does not follow any logic, I repeat. What is the Hero's goal? Other gods ? People? And I'm not talking about something as obvious as defeating the Titans.

what's the point of writing about being reborn into Hades if you're just retelling the same myths. Any such story is based on the idea of how a person would correct mistakes or change the course of history. <<less

This is a pretty decent read if you're into Greek mythology. The story’s about a guy who gets reincarnated as Hades, and while he doesn’t shake things up much at first, he eventually starts trying to get the gods to be less awful and even helps humans here and there. It sticks pretty closely to the original myths, though, so if you’re looking for wild changes or alternate takes, you might be a bit let down.

The harem stuff is there but not super gripping, and the whole “he’s a transmigrator”... more>> thing doesn’t get used much—it’s kind of just there in the background, which happens a lot in this genre anyway. Think of it more as a chill slice-of-life take on Greek mythology rather than some epic “path of kings” vibe.

Overall, it’s solid for what it is, but don’t expect anything groundbreaking. <<less

Kinda generic.

Doesn’t actually divert that much from the source material of Greek myth besides adding their own interpretations of personalities. If you expect large departures or alternate myths it’s kinda disappointing.

The harem is slow but not really that gripping.

The fact that he’s a transmigrator is under utilized and sometimes ignored entirely, though that’s common in this genre.

It’s alright. Just don’t think of it as a “path of kings” sorta novel and more of an average slice of life Greek myth fanfic.

This is a good read if you enjoy Greek mythology. It's about a guy who gets reincarnated as Hades. At first he doesn't change much, but as the story progresses he becomes more involved in trying to get the other gods to act more fairly, helping out humans when he can, etc. There are some harem antics but the focus is on the Greek myths and how they are affected by Hades' more modern worldview. It would be more interesting IMO if the story diverged more from the traditional myths... more>> to tell their own story, so it's no Percy Jackson, but it's still worth a read. The main story seems to be complete now as of chapter 177 with maybe some epilogue chapters still yet to be released. <<less

Surprisingly more entertaining than I expected. It sticks by the Greek Mythology to a large extent except Hades alters some of the more famous events so they don't wind up being so horrible, and some are left out entirely (I was fully expecting Medea to kill all of her and Jason's children for his infidelity). There isn't a particular enemy or overarching plot that continues all the way to the end, since the main issue ties up about 3/4th of the way. But its still an entertaining read, especially if... more>> you are a fan of Greek mythology. <<less
