This is a gem in the making. While the world building is still flawed with limited information onto the complete ranking system beyond legendary, this suggests the author might want to expand the world. Ok so this novel takes place in a world known as Blue Star which is endowed with a game sort of like a game where people who receives a black card are forced to participate in it.
Spoiler

So, our protagonist is a boy with abilities to communicate with animals. In this novel, I found the beasts designed for the protagonist to be quite unique in chinese novels. I think the city is called Infinite City in the mtl which is the place where tamers receives resources and obtains traits which can be used to evolve their pets. Now, the novel still does not romance but it does have hint towards romance with another powerful female beast tamer. The Infinite City also allows the protagonist to challenges secret realm of varied difficulty- Novice, Normal, Abyss, Legendary. They also has artifacts for pets-weapons, armors and equipments. The MC eventually becomes a chef likely inspired by Shokugeki no Soma even from their over the top reaction itself which is extremely similar to the anime

[collapse]

Spoiler

The MC does not have an overpowered cheat like critical return or any system. But, he does have a relic from his parents which is a broken antler from the Sacred Deer, eventually revealed to be a descendant/messenger from a divine beast, Dragon of Life. The deer is currently in slumber and requires faith of people to restore its power. MC descended from a village that worships the deer and his relic can heal the injuries.

MC is kind of like an orphan which is adopted by his childhood friend, who is a female. But, no hint of romance, seems like a platonic relationship. The girl also becomes a poison beast master with her first beast is a heterochromatic spider that is also equally powerful. I said kind of an orphan because his parents are actually alive and working for an organization that is insistent to produce necromancer beast tamer, sort of tamer of the undead. But the flaw is they consumes soul of beast and will eventually becomes maniac.
The protagonist is a fourth generation beast tamer which is quite late in their beast taming journey. First generation beast tamers had evolve their pets close to overlord level (in the mtl). The one with hint of romance with the MC is a tamer of the first dragon in the world of Blue Star meaning she had evolved the first dragon from her pet. She is a powerful tamer.
The setting is about a world which is about to undergo a global mutation. The beast master receives a black card which will be used to contract a beast of their choice. Our protagonist owns a Husky which he kind of adopts in the story. It is later revealed the Husky is actually an experimentation by people from the Blue Star intending to create a strong initial pets. Thus, it kind of have a traumatic experience which it eventually overcomes. So, the protagonist saw a post about someone receiving the black card which he eventually also obtains one.
Let begin with the first beast the protagonist used which is a Husky, that learns to use the sword. It is highly likely to be inspired by Zacian from Pokemon with the beast capable of using sword abilities. In the last chapter I read, it reached quasi legendary level after evolving and can use a domain of swords. Next one, is a mutation of possibly a red eyed lizard, I am not sure exactly what species it is but it evolved into a dragon focused on defense since it is a big coward. It is the third dragon beast from the Blue Star. Because the second dragon is evolved from the Tyrannosaurus. It is revived by Eagle Federation (essentially the United States). Hint of toxic as in racism. But, nothing much since these countries are sort of not undermined. The second beast is naturally afraid of everything since it is a lizard. It is likely to be inspired from the anime Bofuri which explains its focus on defense. Thus, I find it extremely interesting how the author adapted ideas from possibly varied types of anime to create possibly a unique squad of monsters. The third beast is a dark crow that can use curse. Not sure, where the inspiration comes but the crow came with the abilities to curse someone. I think likely to be from Naruto where Itachi often comes with its crow which I suspect to be the inspiration since Itachi also uses illusory abilities from his Sharingan. Overall, each of his beast is unique.
The comedy is each pet kind of have a self mutilation tendencies. The dog has a powerful skill when released, kind of a wind blade that will break all of its teeth. The dragon has a skill that reflects all of damage it receives. To receive the powerup, his pets will attack the dragon to maximise its attacking prowess. The crow is also a funny one. His trait is Eye of Evil God which is a powerful trait to see someone far away and curse them. The payback is it eyes will be injured. But, he will heal them with the deer antlers so like nothing too serious occurs to each of his pet.
[collapse]

The novel approach is they are undertaking a world where the world is experiencing global mutation so the story is about pioneering world undegoing a global mutation which is vastly different from most novels that try to incorporate a world which had undergone global mutation. Thus far, this is my thought on the novel. An enjoyable read for those interested in tamer novels and essentially a novel approach to elaborate on a world of beast tamer. It is an ongoing novel. Stay tuned guys

This is a story that revolves around beast tamers. I haven't exactly understood what is going on yet since at the start the MC is someone born with the power to communicate with animals. But since it's the modern world he's kept it hidden for fear of people thinking he's crazy, he then get's a beast card that appears out of nowhere that allows him to make a contract with an animal to become a beast master. Thats pretty much the start of the story, it then becomes a sort... more>> of pokemon trainer like story where the MC is trying to gather beasts, making them stronger and evolving them.

We also find out that in the ancient time all the legends about monsters and fantastical beasts were all true and that it is about to return again and that the beast masters and stuff were left by the ancients to prepare them for the coming days.

Overall the story isn't anything super fantastic but it is pretty well written and thought out for the most part in my opinion compared to many other cultivation like stories on here. There is also a large focus around the beast taming + beasts which is a plus in my book. <<less

I've always loved beast taming novels, so this hooked me. What made it even better is it's the same author of Unscientific Beast Taming!

The settings are the pre-beast taming era. Meaning, the beast taming wasn't widely yet and was just beginning to happen, which is a clear stream since most of the beast taming novels are already at the post-beast taming era.

The protagonist is an orphan with the ability to communicate with animals, including insects. He came from the long lineage of family that has close relations with animals.

Currently, I... more>> would say the development of the plot is good. There's a clear, stable line of arc we are following. I quite like that there's diverse characters here, and they just don't fade out after a few appearances.

And as always, I love the interactions with the beast tamer and beast/animals. Overall, I will continue reading this and update it! <<less

Hmm..

Not that good but not that bad either, its just like slice-of-life or a daily life when taming spirit beast and hunting in dungeon is start to be a common life with death chances on the side.

Also that tag up there that says #Transported into a Game world not fit the context of the novel, they enter a mirage dungeon or like a shard of a world thru the portal and I know they are refreshable but that doesn't mean its a "Game" world, as the peoples in the... more>> stories are "transported" into another place to take test to enter the Infinite Cities, although there are numbers of city or the dungeon are separated individually and with some public dungeons but its not a "Game" world (as far as my understanding after reading the novels, unless sometimes in the future they gone bonkers and HUGE reveal that the other realm are "Game" from MC >>previous life<< if there is any mention of that). <<less

This novel is quite a leisure read, a typical pet raising cn novel without the face slapping cringe. It isn’t deep, and the story seems quite linear with some intrigue sprinkled here and there. It’s more like any conflict is just a side dish and the pet raising takes center stage. Plus the things happening in the plot don’t seem forced.
Spoiler

except for that one time about his parents

All in all, it’s an enjoyable read.
