She is a street-walking prostitute; he is a cog in the law enforcement machine; they live in different worlds, but life has brought them together. This is a beautiful love story, this is a series of mysterious mu*ders, this is the story of a fantastic supernatural power. Perhaps they live right beside us, or perhaps they never really existed at all…

Killer Nights is quite a good read and undeserving of its low ratings. However, it may not be what you expect when you initially read the summary and look at the tags. For example, investigation and mystery feels a bit lacking in this series. There are a LOT of investigations scenes, but they mostly serve to horrify or mystify you. From the last 71 chapters, I pretty much still know nothing about the mu*derer. This is not to mention that the mu*ders are rather supernatural, so pretty much anything goes.... more>> Most of the 'mystery' is guessing what has happened in the main characters' past and speculating how it is related to the current case. A huge focus in this story is the main couple's relationship and the serious, dark drama around them, which is plenty interesting.

Some things that may put readers off is the brutality. There is some serious violent depictions and scumbag characters in this novel. For instance, there are depictions of r*pe and torture. Some of our characters linger around a moral grey ground or associate with dubious people. I would stay away from this novel if that's not something that you want to read.

In general, its positive points are that it has a story, and character interactions are interesting. It has a good setting (series of mu*ders) and clear, conclusive goal (solving the mu*ders, unraveling the characters' pasts, and a conclusion on their relationship status). It makes steady strides to reach the goal as the story proceeds. This seems silly, but having a goal is somewhat rare among web novels. Character interactions are also interesting enough with the main character's shameless s*xual innuendos.

Its negatives are that some character decisions are rather silly, and you will feel that the author knows just as much about the case as you do. In other words, it feels like the author is just writing the story as s/he goes.

As far as web novels go, Killer Nights is good, entertaining read to add to your list. <<less

Ajiao died. The ML end up with is ajiao's twin sis. The ML 'touch' the twin because he thought she was ajiao. At the end, the twin sis was like 'Don't be sad ajiao. Let me take care of them on your behalf.'

What I also found unforgivable is that all three women— ajiao, ajiao's twin sis, and the woman before ajiao called the ML HONEY. ALL THREE OF THEM.

Then ajiao's soul gave them her blessing. hehe

If your a straight guy and you're into mystery, this is probably 80% for you.

If you're an individual who reads with romance in mind like TWO people being loyal, and singing love and sweet songs to each other, THIS IS NOT FOR YOU. Don't read this pls. You're gonna regret reading this 90%. <<less

First of all, I think you should add a "tragedy" tag in this novel (you'll know why when you read the ending). Second of all, give me back my precious 2 days (those are the times I spent when reading this novel). This novel seriousy makes me angry and here are some of the reasons:

  • ML is so biased towards pro*titut*s in general while in fact his lover (MC) is also one of them. He also doesn't hesitates sacrificing them to avoid casualty from civilian and also for the sake of arresting the mu*derer. Seriously, ML? Aren't they civilians too?
  • Is the ghost a pe*vert or something? Why does she need to kill her victims while they are ma*i*g l**e? She even kills innocent people while she's at it.
  • Many likeable characters are killed in the end by the author, for example ML's assistant and the righteous reporter who done nothing wrong.
  • There is no conclusion of the mu*der case. I think they just leave it as a cold case since the mu*derer is a ghost and no one will believe that. But will the family of the deceased be able to accept that the case will forever remains unsolved?

And the ending is the worst of all. It really destroys all my good feelings towards this story.

Spoiler

MC doesn't make it but her baby is safe. ML is hearbroken and decides to resign from his job as a police officer. A year later, suddenly MC's twin sister appears in front of ML and mistakenly thinks that she's MC. MC's sister offers herself as a substitute of her deceased sister since day 1 and ML is easily agreed? (Where is your so called undying love for MC?).

And that's not the only ridiculous thing in the ending. ML actually build his own company from the money left by her first wife and daughter's mu*derer. What a joke.
