It's not bad. Tbh I really really liked the premise so I was hoping for a bit better (Noah suspected too early..) but given the length of the novel it's still pretty decent.

I like where the author was trying to take MC and ML's characters. I don't feel like it QUITE got there yet, but I like the idea of it. Plot was also pretty decent, nothing really in the story to complain about. It wasn't amazing, but still a decent read.

The writing / translation is a little iffy though,... more>> not that it was hard to understand but the flow was a little weird. Just get used to it lol <<less

This novel takes a unusual take on rebirth trope. It is more like body changing but well I like it. They are many sub plots that makes you want for more and the way the characters were portrayed were astounding.

For the ML

Spoiler

he was described in story that have few mental issues and I dont really know myself if I liked him or not, since his actions and personality keeps me going back and forth to that fine line whether I hated him or I loved him. To be honest I cant decipher the thoughts of ML. But one thing for sure, he was obsessed with Mason

[collapse]

But the MC
Spoiler

I really loved him. The way he is indifferent and somewhat softhearted (to the ML) at the same time.

[collapse]

The only thing that really makes me take a few steps back from this story is the smexy scenes. Since it was between the line of dub-con and r*pe.

Spoiler

it was really hard for me to take when the first time they did it. Especially since the MC is straight and he had a wife and a daughter (thats already dead). Although the way the author wrote it was hot. It seema r*pe to me even though the MC's current body is lewd. It just *shivers* feels wrong. I think all of the R scenes are like that. Well it feels like that.

[collapse]

But if you can handle it. This is truly an amazing story to read. <<less

I have to say, before this I never liked any BL smut reads since Viewfinder. The plot was interesting. And it does give you cliff hangers.

The MC is so likeable, but ML is... err, I guess he's too well affectionate (?). But anyways, it's a nice read for those who are trying to find BL with a bit of suspense and smut so yeah it's worth my 5 stars.

I seriously love the story concept!

Unlike most stories, the transmigator's back story serves as a major plotline.

Strangely enough, even I don't know why I can't give this story 5 star...

Is it the weird sound effect korean story made? Or the random interchanging use of ' and " which confuses me of which sentence is thought and which is spoken out loud? Or perhaps it's the fact that this story violates 'safe, sane, consensual' at almost all R scene : (?

Spoiler

Don't get me wrong, I love forceful lead and bdsm even, but...

Few chapters in, we know ML had mental issues and it shows @[email protected]

MC is straight, and we know he really wants to keep being straight, sadly his new body and ML didn't allow that...

For the R scene, MC repeatedly begging ML to stop, and he didn't! And to make it worse, ML knew MC didn't truly like being f-ed like that, but he still does it anyway! >__<) ;

Placing the 'It's not r*pe if the body enjoys it! Who cares what the mind wants?' Issues aside, I don't like the convenient events either.

You would think that if someone had dealings with darker/less than legal side, they would invest on good security or at least have enough self-awareness to not get randomly mugged, something which the MC points out ==) a

[collapse]

In the end, most of my complains won't be there if only the author didn't make events where MC thought/said things against it. <<less

The set-up of having a hard-core mercenary accidentally possess the body of a flamboyantly gay druggie and public toilet weakling who is well-hated by the populace is really funny to read. Haley was used by his family members and pushed around quite a bit, but Mason is not putting up with any of that. I enjoyed reading how Mason turned the apparent underdog into an up-and-coming celebrity star.

If you aren't interested in BL, you can skip those scenes and still have a good time reading this series. The plot is... more>> fun and a touch dramatic. The characters keep cracking me up, especially those on the set. <<less

kill the lights was an interesting take on the reincarnation trope. I think it told its story quite well - it didnt drag on unnecessarily, had enough content and sub-plots to develop the story & relationships, and concluded in a natural way. its definitely not a think piece - personally, it was a nice, light read that wont leave you wanting closure.

characters were likable too - I honestly really liked mason as the protagonist, if only because he was at the very least capable and in control of himself. he... more>> was, for the most part, level headed and mature, relative to other mcs, and I found myself rooting for him a lot. his story is not all smooth sailing, and there were bumps along the way that he had to face, but watching him overcome them made me proud of him lol. u go, mason.

noah was alright as a love interest. the romance was... there, but it couldve been better. not much to say re: s*x scenes because translated ones always read awkwardly to me personally so I skipped those. still quite a nice relationship because I felt they were, roughly, on equal grounds? and they do seem to care for the other a lot.

overall, id reccommend it if you were thinking of picking it up. its a killer time waster, so to speak <<less

The MC, Mason is a mercenary whose soul drifts into a gay actor Haley, aka Hollywood trash after he dies. Worst thing, before the original passed away he confessed to Noah, the richest and most charming man, in the country!

Join Mason as he tries to start over, now that he got a second chance.

He turns Haley's life style upside down and swears to keep a distance from Noah.

... more>> Only problem is everyone seems to be too interested in Newly changed Haley especially Noah..

Noah has a bit of an obsession with Mason. So now he is directing all that focus on Haley. <<less

LOVE IT! It's truly a good find. The translation is awesomely done. The plot is engaging, the characters are both endearing. I really like how they are both each other's weakness and strength. Their relationship is simply really sweet. As to what many commenters have been saying, the only similar things between this and True Star is that the MC died and transmigrated (am I using the right term?) into the body of a failing idol. Well, they do both have endearing MC, possessive lovers, and is superbly translated, but... more>> otherwise the stories are very different. Both are gems in their own rights, both are sweet and sexy in their own ways, and if you're not iffy about BL then both are novels I strongly reccommend you read. <<less

The characters have personality and the interaction between Raynoah and Haley/Mason is bittersweet. I love how Mason deals with Haley's xxx cousins, but it's sad at the same time because you can tell how Haley got driven into a corner. This story and plot leaves me wanting more with each chapter ;w; So good! Translator is also super interactive with her readers <3 I keep reading this :3 and I tap on the chapter so fast when it comes out :333

As of c11 part1: I was pleasantly surprised while reading this. I was hesitant to read this due to the yaoi tag, and even more so when the violent scenes in the first few chapters were somewhat detailed. Since the author had no problems going into that much detail (perhaps it's more accurate to say it's uncensored, rather than detailed?) I figured that, when/if there's a s*x scene, that I'm going to be feeling awfully uncomfortable...

As of c11 part1, there is no s*x scene, but I agree with Ninish.... more>> There will definitely be a s*x scene.
Spoiler

After all, there was a brief masturbation scene.

The best thing is that the story doesn't throw homosexuality in your face. Some stories end up more about pushing homosexuality with the story suffering for it.

I'm a huge, huge lover of Skip Beat! and am always on the lookout for good acting stories. Admittedly the focus isn't on the acting in this, it's more about how his previous life experiences affects (comes out in) his acting, but it's still interesting to read.

All in all, it's a very good read and Korean Novels have done a good job with the translation. <<less

Finished this a long time ago and I can't believe I didn't leave a review.

A good read with the right amount of drama and action.

I love the plot but it is really frighteningly similar to What Lies at the End Manhwa (which is also a favorite) so I had this nagging feeling who copied who (but softmatcha's review helped me realize it so there you go).

I just hope that someone will find and translate the last extra (or just kindly share the raws so I can MTL). I found at... more>> the comments section of sidetrack 6 part 3 that there's still an extra one chapter where everything was properly concluded.

Spoiler

The stalker was identified and the movie was a success (I think?)

The first BL novel I've ever read and also the reason I got hooked with reading yaoi novels. If only there's 100 star, I'll give it right away. :D

I like the character of MC, he's so pragmatic and calm. I also like ML's character. I feel that he is so human; flawed, deranged and possessive.

This novel is one of the best. ≪3 <3

The concept is pretty interesting, and I like how the MC isn't too much of a pushover in the beginning, but at the same time I do have some qualms with his origins as a high-spec, skilled mercenary, because his actions often contradict the expectations you would have, given his background -- though admittedly he's living the life of a 'regular guy' now, so...

I do wish there was more focus on his origins and previous relationships, such as his wife and daughter. It's nice reading how his current career as... more>> an actor slowly develops though, and the mini movie scenes and dialogue are pretty well-written. The director is hands down my favourite character in this novel, he never fails to make me laugh at his ridiculous antics.

I also feel like the relationships between the MC and the side characters aren't very fleshed out, though given the length I suppose it can't be helped. The ML is also pretty psychotic, which especially shows in the R scenes. Quite a lot of dub-con also occurs with not much resolution, but those scenes are fairly skippable. Overall a decent read!

Plot: 4/5

Story: 4/5

Characters: 3.5/5

I'm a big fan of transmigration novels like this so this was something I enjoyed reading. And unlike most novels of the same genre, the MC's former background actually has a central role to the storyline.

I find the MC pretty interesting, although he acted like a pansy a few times after he became Haley but I guess that can't be helped. The way he handled things was very cool and badass. He always seemed like he was in control of the situation. But the ML was a bit too domineering... more>> for me. His interactions with Mason were off-putting at times. Seriously, that guy is a little too insane. (Probably not just a little)

But I still ship them anyway.

The plot was engaging. The MC was awesome. The romance was ok. The ending was quite sweet.

What's with all the crying tho... <<less

This novel is very interesting with how the MC actually got caught that he (transmigrated?) went into another body. ML caught the MC even when he went into another body. Though it is a little skeptical, it was good.

It would have been more understandable if the ML knew the mc's quirkes and stuff, but he was a mercanery so it's understandable how he won't know much. The MC is more realistic in how he tries to adapt to his new body and new lifestyle. And then there is the ML... more>> that tries to reason that the MC isn't the MC, when he transfered into another body. It's sweet how they are eachother's strength and weakness. The translation is also great in convaying all of this.

Spoiler

though the MC only had about 2 times when he had s*x with the ml, it was quite detailed. ≫~<

Spoiler

i wish the author wrote more about the time when the MC met the ML again as a bodyguard, when ML was in his teens and after MC rescued the ML when he was like 7 years old. And also the MC heard that the ML lost his memory when he was kidnapped so how did he regain it?

Definitely worth a read, if you have doubts just read the first chapter to get a pretty good idea of a lot of the things I mention in the review.

The protagonist is very interesting and down to earth. And has a refreshing attitude towards everything around him, though this is mostly due to his indifference and the fact that he's seen the worst of what humanity can offer.

The previous owner of the body the protagonist transmigrates to is very different from his original body and it's a little pretty fun... more>> having the usually indifferent protagonist being challenged by the former hobbies of his previous self.

The villains in the story aren't all that villainous either (aside from the transmigrators family) and are very interesting to read about.

The interactions between the the protagonist and the other male lead are pretty interesting too, and become even more so as the past they share becomes unravelled.

There are some NSFW scenes that are at the very least, dubious consent, if not r*pe. So be warned. Actually there is a lot of crude language as well as gore so bear that in mind.

Speaking of language, the translation quality is unfortunately fluctuation, and was at it's worst at the beginning, but as long as you can bear it, it'll get better and was in my opinion worth the pain. <<less

This really is a gem. Dont mind the BL tag and honestly I am not a fan of yaoi either. But if you miss this novel it will be a shame. Avoid the parts that makes you uncomfortable and give this novel a shot.

MC is not similar to those flowery boys in other yaoi genre. He has a personality as well as charisma moreover he knows how to say NO. The author did a wonderful job in creating this novel as the story is thick with plots and twists. There... more>> is action as well as drama, narration is on another level altogether.
