This taste a bit bitter at first but turned very sweet and a bit tangy but still very sweet as the chapters goes, I did cried a few times like I legit sobbed because I also had experienced unrequited love for almost 5yrs and it’s really painful so I can relate to the characters very much especially the ML,

So I was very happy when she gives him a chance, both of them, they really deserves each other and loves each other very much and I’ve never felt so happy... more>> when the characters were finally official, I wish for every unrequited to be reciprocated but sadly it’s just a wishful thinking...

But I do want to mentioned the how the ML almost makes me hates him for being so indifferent about towards his son, I don’t understand why some authors love giving this trait to their ML, as if cool characters would lose their cools by showing affection toward others person other than the FL but he did improved his character so it was okay..

as for the ex husband, at first I was simply loathing him but towards the end I still felt bitter and a bit sad for him, he messed up but isn’t he’s just like another cold ML in others novel who eventually get back together after redeeming himself? I don’t wish him in fact im so so glad she didn’t get back with him or I can’t even imagine if he was the ML but I do wish he also find someone... eventually <<less

I like the story. The characters are well-written and their story is very sweet. I love the ML, he shows his emotions clearly and he has a personality. He's not one-dimensional.

About the ex-husband

Spoiler

For me, he doesn't deserve the MC. They had 5 years together and its impossible not to notice her affections for him. It just goes to show that he didn't care for her in the first place. Can you believe that as her husband, he didn't watch a single movie of hers? When the reason she became an actress was because he like movies.

And when his family, won't accept the marriage unless she quits showbiz, he didn't do anything to support her. That's what I like about the MC & ML's relationship dynamic, they are equal.

And what made me hopeless about him was when it was stated that he first held her hand was when they were about to sign their marriage in Civil Affairs Bureau but it was also the last time that he did so. Like, you married for 5 years though??? He doesn't love her, he just felt empty because he was used to having her waiting for him.

A short story but with a decent amount of dog blood.
Spoiler

FL who can't express her love for her ex-husband. A s*upid ex who was too dense and also can't explain himself. Well at least the ML is quite loyal.

[collapse]

I'm actually quite sympathetic with the ex-husband since he didnt really cheat nor abuse her. Quite an amicable
Spoiler

divorce

. In another universe he could be the ML instead.

Not great, to say the least.

ML is pulls the "nice guy" tactic and essentially guilts FL into a relationship with him while she's still grieving the end of her previous marriage. She's only been a divorcee for 2-3 months and he was salty when she wasn't into him five years ago, salty again when when she still isn't into him (again, she just got divorced!!), and salty still when she tries to kindly and discreetly reject his efforts at getting at her. He could've been an endearing puppy, but he... more>> ended up more like a privileged, fussy man-child who's never had someone say no to them.

Spoiler

When he meets her for the first time after her divorce, he is very petty and antagonizes her because he just can't let go of her past aloofness towards him. He then gets further upset that she doesn't notice how he's having a hissy fit (they never had anything beyond a shallow professional relationship in the past).

News flash: She doesn't owe him anything and he's the one that needs to get over himself.

[collapse]

On the other hand, FL's ex is actually somewhat respectful of her boundaries albeit also unlikable with how he treated FL at the outset of the novel. Unfortunately, he made his realizations too late and the two were just never on the same page at the same time.

I had to drop this novel. I liked the premise, but let's get better male leads, please. <<less

I really liked the story. I was expecting it to be emotional but it wasn’t too emotional which was great for me.
Spoiler

I usually hate redemption stories because it’s s*upid, but I wished she ended up with ex-husband. I feel like he never really got a chance. It is really his fault that he was blind, but there’s tr*shier MLs out there so I really feel for him. I liked who the FL ended up with but like... I feel bad for ex.

The story is cute but I got so tired of people forcing FL to accept ML's feelings even though they know she just got divorced. And they even had the audacity to be upset with her for not accepting him faster, even ML was like that. She straight up said to him the she just finalized her divorce and she loved her ex a lot, yet he still gets upset and questions why she doesn't like him. He didn't give her a chance to explain why she was photographed with... more>> her ex either, he just ignored her and cried by himself. His advances toward her and consideration were cute and that's the only reason I'm giving this story 2 starts <<less

I really like the story. It reminded me that although one should believe in second chances, sometimes, if not most, once something is over, it's really over.

So cherish each moment with the people you love.

I love the main characters and how they love each other. However, my heart goes out for the ex-husband. I have to thank/hate the author for inserting him in the story once in a while even after the leads have gotten together. It really shows that once you love someone, however deeply, you really carry them... more>> with you for the rest of your life somehow, since they did shape who you are in their own way. I'm so used to reading these kinds of stories, but it's rare that the FL won't end up with the ex. It's somehow heartbreaking, and it's a hard pill to swallow. But it's part of life. The people we once loved whether as partners or friends or even as family don't stay in our lives. Just have to cherish moments with them while we still can and one day say "thank you for stopping by." <<less

It's just a very basic simple romcom you read to pass time. Really nothing special here since they only sell the romance. Even the characters don't have clear defined personalities to begin with, they're so obscure you can place one character in another's place and they'd act the same, wouldn't notice the difference. Just an OK read if you really don't have anything else left on your shelf.

This story needs blood. The storyline is nothing extraordinary. Details are not fleshed out, the events in the story, and the characters' responses to them are like cliches picked out of script textbooks. The characters are built too taciturn and uncaring, makes it feel as if their world is set underwater where sounds don't travel.

The FL is a real salted fish, in terms of the quality of being dried and extra stiff. She has no emotions apart from an overhanging gloom, in short, not interesting. The ML, at this point... more>> is not blooming yet, I don't know if he will turn more interesting in the later development, but it does not look to be very promising. <<less

Pretty eh.

So far FL kinda just lies down and wins, every obstacle is overcome by others for her.

I get that the author wants to show a character who was lonely/without support and suddenly realises she has a lot of support but like, there's no change to FL's character in the before or after.

TL;DR, FL feels like a beautiful salted fish, the prev romance break up could've been avoided with communication and FL is a backdrop to hang romances on.

A well written story with a lot more love from both ML and FL. At first I thought it would be a very normal love story between two actors but after reading it through I found that the story is much more diverse than my presumptions.

4.5 but rounded down for the rushed parts of the story.

This is a story about one hell of a misunderstanding a woman who finally gets her happy ending with the man who has loved her for ten years.

The MC was a film empress who gave up her career to marry a man she had loved for many years. Only, she spent the five years of that marriage being ignored by him and treated terribly by his family. Upon divorce, she returns to acting and encounters another actor who has been... more>> in love with her since she started acting. What follows is their rather speedy romance and her eventual happy ending.

The ML is a film emperor who has been in love with the MC from the moment he first saw her (when they were both 18/19) and he tried to pursue her before. However, upon her rejection and learning she had someone else, he stepped back. Once a cheerful individual, he closed himself off slowly once she disappeared from the acting world Upon her return and learning that she has divorced, he begins his pursuit of her once more.

The story begins when the MC returns to China after asking for a divorce from her husband. She has spent the last five years alone in the marriage with just their dog but finally gives up on their marriage when he never shows as the dog gets sick and dies. She also receives proof that he had cheated which breaks her heart even further.

Spoiler

Quickly turns out that the proof was all faked by the other woman who wanted to break the pair apart. The woman was so conniving that she even tossed the husband's phone out the window so that he could not call the MC to explain.

[collapse]

The MC starts things out with a bang by acting in a movie by her old teacher (who is a famous director) which brings her back fully into the attention of the ML. The pair then spend a lot of time together and he finally convinces her to open her heart to him. From there, they have a slightly rocky relationship with the ex-husband trying to redeem himself and the ex-husband's first love trying to ruin the MC. However, these road bumps aren't really significant and rather quickly solved (even for the length of the story, it's pretty quick).

This story does show the significance of communication in a relationship. While most commentators on the translator's websites mentioned how the ex-husband was terrible for how the MC was treated, they were both at fault here as it seems like neither really communicated with each other. Honestly, they're both EQ stunted in this. The comparison to them is the ML who is very open about his intentions with the MC and is the driving force in the relationship. Almost aggressively so.

Spoiler

Yes, the Ex-Husband's family was terrible and ignored her but she never once told the ML that she loved him. It's implied he always believed he had to take responsibility for the night he got drunk and slept with her. From there, he threw himself into work and didn't spend a lot of time with her. Guilt is a helluva thing.

Not justifying his actions, but her trying to explain to him that she actually loved him would have saved them a lot of heartache. I mean, it's not like she wasn't already aware that he was emotionally constipated as the story regularly claims that she was in love with him for 13 years. I refuse to believe she didn't understand his nature by then.

So again, they both s**ked at communicating.

[collapse]

Possible unpopular opinion but I was hoping there would be some sort of redemption for the Ex-Husband, especially with how he handled the "other woman". He knew he had messed up by the end of the story, and the MC was well out of his reach, but the author never really gave him a chance to find his happy ending.

Spoiler

He meets the MC and ML's son, who accidentally calls him daddy just because he was dressed formally. From there, he goes on to have a son through surrogacy, which is heavily implied just so the business can have a successor. He never has a girlfriend or wife after that.

Tell me you don't like your character without actually telling me you don't like your character.

[collapse]

Otherwise, it's a fairly enjoyable read. Just wish there was more between the Ex-Husband and the MC. <<less

Decent story. Dog blood is realistic. Very rational and well-rounded characters (include supporting and side characters). No face slapping but full of angst and heavy drama.

The main con is that the FL is too pitiful that she wasn’t even given ample time to move on from her recent divorce and process her feelings before going through another quite messy relationship. Definitely not a healthy relationship (the previous and the next) although the intentions are without malice.

Still, it’s fine to pass the time if you prefer bittersweet stories.
