Hi everyone! I'm the new translator. Hope you've enjoyed the novel as much as I have so far. This is one of the author's earlier novels, so the plot might not be as tight as some of their other novels, but the writing is excellent, as expected from Yang Su. It focuses more on the concept of family - both found family and blood-related family.

Qi Yin, the main character, lost his mother when he was young. I know, it's typical for main characters to have dead parents and grow up... more>> as orphans, but those things actually play a big role in the plot. We were introduced to Qi Yin's mother later on, and even as a side character, she was such an intriguing character, I was honestly heartbroken that she's dead.

Qi Yin himself is a pretty down-to-earth and easygoing person. After his mother died, he lives with his aunt in a bit of a Cinderella-like situation - living in the attic, helping out around the house, etc. He never complains and he isn't melodramatic about his situation. He only wants to live as a normal person. So when he got entangled with the cultivators and immortals, he's a bit hesitant. He works hard, but he's got no real talent for it. The story will go on to explain how he trains and grows among his found family in the cultivator sect, and the ML is with him all the way.

ML

The ML is possibly my favorite character so far. He's very kind and devoted. There's not a mean bone in his body, despite being a demon. He's like this gentle big brother type, and that's how the MC sees him at first as well, before their relationship becomes more romantic. Everyone calls him a fool for some reason. He's not s*upid - he's just a bit slow, but he's also one of the cutest MLs I've ever seen. His relationship with the MC is very heartwarming to read about.

All in all, if you're looking for a very plot-heavy novel, with complicated court politics or face slapping plot, you probably won't find it here. But if you're looking for a heartwarming story that has some bittersweet moments mixed in. If you're looking for something that will make you think - about life, about family - this is the right novel for you. <<less

I assume this was meant to be funny, but the humour the writer used just... isn't.

It looks like a parody done by someone who isn't good at making parodies, so it ends up being forced cringe.

Characters all behave like they are suffering from insanity, a good portion of the plot is an unnecessary misunderstanding that could have been solved in chapter 6, adults all act like they are children, and the list goes on.

The description sounds like a completely different novel that has nothing to do with the actual story,... more>> if it weren't for the explicit violence, I would have thought this is an adaptation of a "comedy" Anime targeted at children between 10 and 15.

I wouldn't have wasted so much time on this if the description would have made it clear what kind of story this truly is.

This really isn't for those who are into cultivation/wuxia/whatever, but try it if you like comedy antics and general brainlessness, then it might be a fun read. <<less

If you're following me here from WCJ, be aware that this novel is very very different. Not heavy on angst at all and the ML is number one sweetheart. If you hated WCJ because of the abuse, try this one out.

This is a character growth focused novel. You know from the initial synopsis that our MC (shou) Qi Yin will one day be called the Great Demon, but he starts out as kind of an apathetic loser who is down on his luck.

About the yaoi tag: This isn't really a smut novel (sadly), but toward the end there is an uncensored chapter. So think of this novel as mostly shounen-ai with a bonus yaoi chapter. <<less

The pacing is incredibly slow but MC and ML are pretty interesting in their own ways.

ML is so cute, pls he's too adorable whereas MC be in denial about ML's famous identity lol.

I got a bit bored at how slow everything felt so ill probably pick it back up when I'm in the mood.
