Back when they were little, Ming Chen and Xing You were both chosen to compete in an international children’s music competition. Their piano and violin duet blew everyone away.

From then on, their childhood-sweetheart CP fandom quietly rooted for them to grow up together.

When they turned 18, fans started waiting every year for an official announcement.

But as time passed, the two never appeared together in public again. This once wildly popular national CP slowly faded into nostalgic history.

Just when fans had given up hope and were about to move on… a bombshell suddenly dropped— the two would appear on the same reality show.

Fans: !!!

As long as they meet, we’re happy! Even if they just get to know each other again, mama’s fine with that too! Nothing beats a reunion CP going from strangers back to familiar lovers!

On the show — lingering glances, flirty interactions, sugar dropped left and right — the CP chemistry was off the charts.

Bullet chats exploded:

【Mama, it’s real this time!!】

But afterward, when an interview brought up his childhood friend, Xing You — now a rising star in the classical music world — stiffened her face and flatly denied it three times, “No. Not true. Don’t know them.”

Fans wailed, their hearts breaking on the spot as their beloved CP abruptly crumbled. Xing You’s cold, ruthless comments immediately shot up the trending topics.

Until one night, paparazzi snapped footage in an underground parking garage — Ming Chen striding up, gently fixing Xing You’s collar, blocking the red marks on her neck. “Still mad about last night?”

Xing You’s face flushed bright red, frowning as she snapped, “So you also know too!”

Ming Chen lowered his head, kissed the delicate musician’s fingertips, and laughed softly, “It’s my fault.”

Fans collectively lost their minds.

***

From the time he turned 18, Ming Chen always kept his collars buttoned up tight.

Until one day, a photo surfaced on Weibo — Ming Chen’s exposed collarbone, and just below it, a tattoo of a woman’s name.

“She’s my fiancée.”

Just finished reading and I liked it. I've been hungry for childhood friends/showbiz (variety show) trope so this kinda satisfied my cravings. The reason why it only kinda satisfied is because this focuses more on what's happening when they're in their 24-25. Everything before that are just flashbacks. I appreciate that the story is focused on a particular time period in their lives, but I really liked novels where it talks about their adventures as children and then do a whole timeskip to when they're in high school or older.... more>> But beggars can't be choosers.

Now with regards to the actual story, both ML and FL are considered music prodigies with ML doing piano and FL the violin. FL continued to do violin while ML stopped and entered the industry to become an actor. There's a six year gap between their relationship because they couldn't communicate with each other. But I also think they got together at the best time.

ML is your typical famous actor ML who can cook, sing, compose, play the piano and act. He's also smart and if his circumstances permitted him, better at other things too. One of the things I did not like about him was that he's too possessive of the FL. Like yeah you're her fiancé and you have every right to be jealous, but because he doesn't communicate and just assumes he knows the situation, he acts upon his assumption which ends up annoying/hurting the FL or making the situation worse.

The FL on the other hand is your typical Bai Fumei. The only difference is that she can be quite arrogant to ML (the perks of being spoiled by someone). She's very insensitive about the feelings of others. She didn't even realize that one of the guests liked her.
Spoiler

She saved him when he was drowning. Then after some twists and turns ended up liking her.

I found that character annoying and redundant because of how the author handled him. The author could have done much better aside from him serving as someone the ML will be jealous with. Especially since they gave him a sort of reflection chapter. I get it, it's hard to move on and it's not something you can do immediately.
Spoiler

But why does he keep popping up after that reflection chapter. He popped up here and there, and he does not even add anything to the plot aside from making the ML jealous again. It would have been better if the next time he appeared, it was at the wedding after that reflection chapter.

[collapse]

Aside from that complaint, I loved the extras about FL's best friend. I think the author did it beautifully. I was so nervous she'll go the other way, but I'm glad it went as I had hoped.
Spoiler

BF used to like ML's friend for a long time but ML's friend never liked her. She was always a confidant or someone the friend can call when he needs someone to talk to. This dynamic continued until the BF had enough and decided to put him down. The cliche happened and the friend realized that he liked BF, but at that point, BF already fell for someone. I'm not gonna say who, but it happened and I was shouting for joy lol.

I just wished the author continued with the story about FL's BF, I really liked where it's going and would have loved to read more. Also, where's the kids chapter, I love when there's one.

Overall a nice read 😁👍🏻 <<less
