Gabrielle, a daughter of a Duke, was exiled from her country for a crime of bullying a certain Viscount’s daughter she didn’t commit.

The reason for this was that all the people who condemned her were under the charm spell of the Viscount’s daughter.

Gabrielle, who was the only one to notice this during the condemnation, decided to cancel out the charm spell as a parting gift when leaving the country.

When she was gone and the charm was broken, the country was filled with a storm of regret.

They have done something terrible.

While they continued to suffer in guilt, Gabrielle was traveling normally.

I thought thus sounded interesting. A new spin on an old story. However, it's just so blah.

Apparently, despite not preparing in any way except by reading this 1 book, a lady can easily make her way amongst the commoners and become an adventurer. Yes, she has incredible magical powers, but it's not like she actually took anything necessary.

She also seems to have some kind of emotional issue. Her brother, father, friends, fiancee and just the whole city hated her and abused her because of a magic spell that she could... more>> have broken at any time but didn't, because she couldn't be stuffed. She said that even though they were all charmed, she didn't want to deal with their apologies and she couldn't forgive them for their actions, so she just left. But on her way out, she figured, why not. And undid the spell.

In this situation, how is she any better then the "evil" girl that cast the charm spell. She could have helped all the people that loved her, but didn't because it seemed like work. It was a click of her fingers! Now they all feel awful because they hurt someone they loved, but she doesn't care.

The story would be the same if she had hated her family, friends and fiancee and cast the charm spell herself, blaming someone else so she could be kicked out.

The MC just feels off and removed from any emotions or connections. For her to be so powerful, yet not use her magic to defend herself. For her to be so lazy that she let a whole kingdom be brainwashed for (I think it actually said 2 years) yet be a happy adventurer travelling around on foot just seems so disconnected.

I just don't get it. An interesting premise, but poorly executed. <<less

The story didn't start off too terribly, but the Male Lead is so unlikable that it completely ruins it for me. I tried to trudge my way through reading because I hoped that once they had introduced the maid/friend character the Male Lead would take a hike but nope, we're stuck with him. I agree with another viewer/commenter that I don't think the author really knows how to write a strong independent woman, so they just put some random dude to be her "knight in shining armor" even though its... more>> said early on that she's the most powerful mage from the country with the most powerful magic. At this point, I don't think the author could do anything to redeem the story except drop the Male Lead so I'm just going to drop this.

If you can tolerate an unlikable Male Lead shoved down your throat then give it a shot, otherwise stay far away from this story. <<less

TLDR: It's like Scooby Doo but not as clever or interesting 2 stars

At least it didn't take much time to read.

If you read the synopsis you already know the setup is tr*sh so there;s no need to review that. The problem is that the story gets worse as it goes on.

... more>> The basic structure is as follows

1 MC goes to new place

2 MC has encounter with baddies.

3 MC solves baddies with OP magic

4 MC is humble and tries to decline rewards go back to 1

Her struggles aren't interesting, while her attitude to the people left behind is chilling.

Bottom line: dropped <<less

Let's say... As an experiment, this is quite good, the premise is quite unique. Yet the execution is bad. The whole farce she get is her own mistake for not fighting back. If she needs two years to understand charm magic and then dispel it, then it's okay (but need more details), but, the thing is, the way the author writes the story makes our protagonist seems like a lazy person, who, with her power, can stop the whole incident from the beginning, yet didn't do so because it's a... more>> bother... Risking national integrity in the process...

...

What this novel needs to fix is the beginning arc... As of right now... It feels kinda s*upid <<less

It's an interesting concept, the use of charm magic being used/dispelled. The writing's a touch too shallow to carry it well.

There's no emotional depth (or at least none described) in the MC's reasoning. The novel seems like it's set up for face-slapping but it doesn't lay the foundation of making the MC's sympathize-able.

It's a nice concept still. So 2-stars.

By god this story is s*upid; the characters are flatter than a drawing, the "villains" are either entirely off screen or not a threat at all and every character that isnt the protagonist is constantly talking about how great she is and yadda yadda yadda. If I wanted to read some idiots mary sue character then I would unearth some of my preteen stories. Actually, I think even the stuff I smashed together using a thesaurus would be somehow more compelling than the drivel I have subjected myself to

If the summary interested you, just read it. It's certainly not some deep psychological masterpiece but it was exactly what I wanted from it

Annoying characters, especially the main character, Elle and the love interest (so far?). They are so incredibly unlikable in my opinion. I don't understand how the author can write such a story and not stop and think 'man the way I write my MC makes them kind of unlikeable huh.'

Basic plotline is that Elle's close friends and relatives were placed under a powerful charm spell by a viscount's daughter, they were also then led to believe that Elle was bullying this said girl and the country basically sends Elle into... more>> exile for this (dumb yes but they're under a spell.)

Elle was fully-aware that her friends and families were under the charm spell and she was perfectly capable of dispelling it cus she's an ultra powerful magic user but she did not want to do it until she left because she felt that dealing with their apologies would be too troublesome, so she dispels the charm spell right after she leaves the country.

"Hehe, I bet they are regretting it now." Literally Elle's thoughts as she leaves the country, yep she's an unlikeable as*hole who knew exactly what she was doing. Apparently she has always wanted to be an adventurer so she saw this as the chance to go fulfil this dream. Not a single damn thought for the people who loved and cared for her after all these years.

If this is not enough, she later goes on in the story having sad dreams and cries and shit, aka the author's attempt to make us feel sorry for her? She literally chose this road? She chose to abandon her family to become an adventurer, she took up a false name and even used magic to disguise herself so will not be found easily.

She also...

Spoiler

Later on during her adventures she took on the task of reuniting a lost child with her parents. The family is poor but they truly love their daughter so they looked for her everywhere, blaming themselves for being incompetent parents. Elle then thinks:

You are not of the same kind as my father who got charmed by magic, used violence against his daughter, and then kicked her out of the house.

This is such an unfair comparison, considering how her dad was literally hopeless under a spell they did not want and she was perfectly capable of helping them and freeing them from it but she chose not to as it would be more convenient for herself.

"Now that the charm spell was broken, they might be worried. My father loved me dearly, and my little brother adored me. Still, there was no option for me to return." The woe is me pity party never ends with this ungrateful girl.

[collapse]

Now the ML (I believe, so far) is an unlikable and clingy creep. If you read the novel you will understand. He kept sticking to Elle despite his offers of companionship being turned down and also he never fulfils his promises. He is a nuisance and a stalker. If he was an ugly character he would be some canon fodder npc character who gets punished for creeping on a young girl, but he gets a pass cus he's hot? lol

TLDR; MC has a victim complex and ML (?) is a HUGE creep. <<less

Bad story, I read all available chapters so far and most of the other reviews are true. The story is very repetitive. Travel and solve problems. Also I don't like that Jeb doesn't tell her who he is. He's be an okay character if he revealed it, but he seems quite creepy since he doesn't. Glad they found Giselle so hopefully they'll eventually hit it off with their desire to protect Elle. What I'm hoping is the prince joins the party and decides to adventure with them since Elle probably... more>> won't want to go back. Either way I'll never know since I'm dropping it here. <<less

So far it’s pretty funny but the chapters are really short and the MC kinda seems like she is a child who believes anything she reads
