I read the manga before reading this and it's pretty far ahead of the current translation.

In short, the author basically found the genetic op isekai MC lever and cranked it up to 11. It's decently written, the characters don't make me want to tear my eyes out, the story isn't the worst I've read, and the translation quality is good. Overall not great not terrible, if you have nothing better to read then go for it but it won't blow your mind.

The MC was your typical depressed japanese salary man who slept on a train and woke up in darkness and was told by a system to choose between A. Hero B. Demon lord C. Sage. He didn't want any of then since they sounded like effort and the system automatically picked D. None for him without any input from him. Shock of all shocks what none actually meant was all of the above with bonus deus ex machina and god like powers. And now he goes and saves generic waifu and the world.

I'll be generous and give it a 4 because I did enjoy the read, but honestly it's pretty meh. The story isn't bad despite being rushed at a breakneck pace and it is translated very well, but it's really only enjoyable if you can overlook the amateurish writing style and gaping plot holes. The MC seems to find exactly what is needed exactly when it's needed no matter how unlikely the circumstances and a large amount of nonsensical things pop up over and over just to move the story along.... more>> Despite it's flaws it is however mildly entertaining so if you have nothing else on list to read or are looking for something simple to kick back and kill time it's not a bad option. Just don't expect a AAA title from it. <<less

V1C3: This story is about average. It is one of the better kinds of shounen wish fulfilment. The antagonists are often illogical, and act as if they loose their IQ around the protagonist, but at least the writer gives them a reason to be aggressive, instead of just being s*upid and aggressive for no reason.

Honestly, I think the story would be much better if it leaned more towards a seinen writing style, and the characters were more realistic.

Update V1C17: The characters seem to be... more>> divided between bystanders, hostile, friendly and cute. Each category seem to have the same personality.

There are also a large amount of plot holes. Downgrading the rating to 2 stars.

It's good to read for a little bits at a time, but I reached the point where I can't stand it anymore and am going to have to come back later to read the rest. <<less

Came from Manga to this novel in hopes that manga just skipped alot because it seemed so rushed but well... novel is just on the same level. Probably a high schoolers writing or a very busy person who does this as a sidejob. I mean... The accumulation of plotholes and errors is insane :D I really thought its so bad because illustration studios often rush and skip everything but its the novel.

The idea has potential the execution is garbage. Very oldschool fashioned.

MC finds new recipe for a potion and needs... more>> it the next moment. Some one talks about a legendary story and next moment he finds not the clues but all the "lost knowledge" and so on... its very basic and boring. Cant relate to the 3+ ratings. The translation deserves an upvote the story is not even worth writing a review... But here I am writing one.

2 stars only in appreciation of the efforts translating it. <<less

Pretty meh. The writing is amateurish, the plot is simple, the suspension of disbelief needed is immense, and the main character has everything he needs conveniently delivered to him when he needs it. It feels like a child wrote this. That or someone who has just picked up being an author and just went for broke. Worth 2 stars but gave 3 because the translation is on point. A good read if you want to turn your brain off and just go with the flow of it. Not my cup... more>> of tea, though. <<less
