Sozai Shuu, a working adult with a slightly weird habit of loving to collect raw materials, was transferred to another world by God after losing his life.

In order to live leisurely, Shuu wished for 『a power to live a carefree life collecting raw materials in another world.』His wish was successfully granted however, his magic power is strangely enormous, and his skill is really convenient? Seems like God misunderstood that he wanted to harvest materials from monsters leisurely so the power he gave Shuu was so incredible….

Nevertheless, Shuu does not take it to mind and freely uses his unique skill 【Detect】 in another world to search for materials, harvest them, eat them, make money off of them and lives a carefree life collecting materials.

Since I'm the translator, I think I should drop in and leave a review, and clear up some misunderstandings.

This novel stays true to its title - the story focuses on the MC going on material collections trips and requests. (I haven't finished reading the original yet but the first arc gave me that impression)

Personally, I think it is very stress-free, no drama, and a bit typical. However, I think it is a great novel to kill time and de-stress. If you're looking for something like that, give this novel... more>> a try.

The reason why I gave only 4 is because I think the story lacks a bit of novelty. The materials itself, the skills, and the adventures the MC goes on could be more original. It may improve in the later chapters though.

That leads to my second point. If you came here after reading a manga about a dude collecting materials, this novel right here is not adapted to manga yet, so it's not what you're looking for.

This novel will be adapted into a manga! Look forward to it.

In conclusion, if you want to read something easy-going, very light plot, no particular romance, then please give this novel a try. <<less

It's nothing crazy, but overall a nice slow paced slice of life isekai novel.

Some people apparently take objection to the MC's fixation on collecting materials, but I actually think that having an MC who is different from most of the generic ones that try a bit of everything can be quite interesting. Video games and isekais alike can be enjoyed in many different ways, and so long as you're enjoying it, there's nothing wrong with that. If you only want epic battles, I would recommend to look elsewhere however.

For a... more>> novel about collecting materials, it's nice to at least have an MC who actually takes an interest in it and not someone who stumbles across a cheat skill that can be used for it but isn't creative enough to use it for something else.

The world building seems consistent and the material economy is reasonably fleshed out up to this point. So far there's no real plot, but while I wouldn't want to read several hundred chapters of this, I'm fine with just having the characters and the setting slowly established while the reader gets accustomed to the MC's gathering life cycle.

There hasn't been a release in a while so I'm not getting my hopes up to read it anytime soon, but if there's some interesting development in the next 20-50 chapters I may add the fifth star back again (if NU lets me). <<less

I always like to read slow-life novel to slow down my thinking (because I have brain-burning job). This is one of my favorite novel, written by my favorite author (who also wrote other good slow-life novels). The story is about a reincarnated man living in different world, he likes to collect things so he asked God to have the convenience to do that (as expected, he became OP enough to collect dragon scales). No drama, no revenge, just like the usual japanese slow life novels.

Novel about our usual Japanese beta MC that got transported to a fantasy world. MC has some weird fetish for collecting raw materials and he got power from God to match it. The plot is specially made to make it easy for MC to shine so collection requests at adventurer guild are neglected so our MC can be awesome and collect them all. He got the power to beat dragons if he wanted to but he is even avoiding horned rabbits since he is a classic beta MC that doesn't... more>> know what OP is even when he is OP. The story is mostly about his daily life, collecting raw materials while moving around the world. <<less

I found the original author's website and read ahead with google translate.

Interesting concept.... but this is heavily slice of life.... and even though he's got ... more>>
Spoiler

A magic bag that seems endless and stops time for anything inside it, plus this overpowered detection and appraisal skills... plus extreme magical aptitude...

[collapse]

So even with all that... the MC himself is boring.

So far (as of chapter 26) there is no harem, but
Spoiler

there are beast girls... I have never understood the fascination that Japanese authors seem to have with beastgirls....

[collapse]

However.....
Spoiler

The guy seems to want to JUST run the equivalent of collection quests... bear in mind that he could probably make a LOT more money just going out collecting stuff and selling it himself...... why he feels the need to waste time with an adventuring guild is beyond me....

[collapse]

Also....

Spoiler

He's using this 'detection' skill to avoid monsters... but the author doesn't seem to take into account that given the limited range of this detection skill, and the frequency that there are 'monsters' out there... at least a few would have probably tried to track him down while he's out wandering in these 'dangerous' forests alone.... and yet he's only been attacked one time when 'he' stumbled upon one..... doesn't feel realistic/probable to me

[collapse]

I may pick this up again later, but for now I think I'll put this one on 'pause' <<less

An OK slice of life other than the fact that there's very little "life" and it's literally just someone collecting fantasy materials over and over again. If you've ever played a MMO or open-world RPG and gone back to a low-level zone where monsters don't attack you anymore because you're too strong in order to harvest materials to level up skills, it's exactly like that, except this guy doesn't really do anything with the materials.

It's all well and good that he loves harvesting materials, but it would be nice for... more>> him to have any interest in anything else at all. It's really boring to have an invincible protagonist with a one-dimensional personality who repeats one activity over and over again. <<less

The translation is good. The story is enjoyable specially the concept of honesty and doing your best in any work is being advocated although he has a cheat ability, the MC tried using his eyes and touch first before using his abilities.

Overall, it was good. Hope to read the next one...

Slice of life, pretty average, OP MC. I like how chilled out it is and that the MC is genuinely interested in what he's doing. Lots of the side characters are annoying, especially with how all the females are borderline hitting on him. He's also kind of a pushover but that's okay considering its slice of life, there's no consequences.

This goes at an even slower pace than most SoL, it would be fair to say NOTHING happens. That said I very much enjoyed it.

Spoiler

what a useless transformation, you haven't made soy sauce so what?

hmhmhm just wait.

has he really found a way to slow down a SoL? Is that possible?

he must be bluffing I am what would that make him? A slow life SoL?

AND THIS.

eh what he doing?

AND THIS IS TO GO EVEN FURTHER BEYOND
