I didn't expect to cry because of this novel. About the MC:

Spoiler

The MC who shows kindness despite his bad luck gave him good karma and he still does his best to help others even after an accident. He's a very kind person and he deserves the gift. He doesn't ab*se it either and is simply grateful he has it.

His relationship with the whole group is also heart warming and fun. They all feel close to each other and act like brothers. And his grandmother always makes me laugh and cry.

Even if MC got an ability, it's not OP like most MCs get in other novels. His other talents and skills (aside from dancing) are from his own hard work after being a trainee for 6 years and studying well. He's a hard worker and always get back up no matter how hard he falls. He also does his best to work with the members so it's not only because of his own effort but teamwork.
[collapse]

This is one of the few showbiz novels I really like, especially since even the side or minor characters have fleshed out personalities and reasons why they're doing what they're doing. It doesn't just focus on them being idols but also focus on their character development and relationships.

Woojoo, a 6 year trainee in the debut group, who for the life of him couldn't dance (or do any sporty stuff) and kicked from the debut group, got hit on his head saving a grandpa from getting hit by a car on his way to do his CSAT. Following that, miraculously he got a superpower that could allow him to mimic every movement he had once seen. But... it seems that's not everything to his power..

This is pure comedy, I got a laugh every chapter. The start of his... more>> idol story is not from an idol survival show. Things can be pretty smooth sailing for him and his group (especially with his power which can sometimes be too exaggerated). But what I like from this story (aside from the laughs) is the characters and storytelling.

And I also wanna say that woojoo has his own skill before he even got his superpower, and that is composing. He is a genius composer and I think he also has synesthesia (not explicity said) or not idk. This was one of the reason he could stay in the debut group in his previous company but eventually got dropped.

I love the team's interactions, they have their own personality. Bijoo, main dancer, mom of the group, loves cooking, directionally challenged and sometimes dense. Rihyuk, main vocalist, cleaning nerd and nerd overall, awkward in expressing his feelings, tomato head (when shy). Junghyun, our overpowered (as in strong strong) main rapper, dreaming of being a farmer, makes unintentional jokes with a deadpan face. Jiho, cute (self-proclaimed) maknae of the group, rich young master, mood maker of the group, and the least smart (academically). And lastly our MC, woojoo, producer and composer, big brother and dad of the group, old-fashioned, grandma's boy, and the group's black history maker.

And that's just the group but even the side side characters have their own quirky personality. Give the story a try. <<less

So far pretty good! This is more of a slow burn slice of life idol novel so its not really bingeable imho, got a bit bored by chap 100+ but so far I really appreciate it and its really enjoyable.

The main premise is that our MC, Wooju is an ex-kpop trainee mostly due to his inability to dance but in some freak accident he somehow gained the ability to copy any type of movement that he has seen. I really like how the MC doesn't focus on this supernatural ability... more>> inorder to succeed cause he's actually extremely talented, the only thing holding him back is his lack of dancing skills.
Spoiler

He's actually a really good composer as well as a decent singer, the author's kinda going for the Gdragon route for MC.

[collapse]

I also like the build up of other members as well as their personalities, they're not just some 2d caricature of idols on the side. MC also puts a lot of emphasis on team success over solo and he gives other members their chance to shine. I also commend the author for taking the longer route to success, instead of insta-top 1 songs with instant massive fandom we have a more realistic take on idol stardom esp idols from a non-big agency.

Highly recommended! 4/5 for me! I wish the pacing was a bit faster and more things can happen per arcs but it is what it is, I just need to accept that this is a slice of life I guess lol? <<less

So far, it seems interesting. It doesn't seem to be the too OP power type, because the "power" has a reasonable drawback. You can't do moves that your body can't support.

It also seems that the pacing is moderate. Of course, according to what I have read so far it seems that way.

All in all, I'll be waiting for it to update more chapters before diving into it.

My favorite idol novel (yes, above Debut or Die) because it's always funny.

The main character, and I quote, has a first-class license for making black history. The groupmates individually may not initially seem like the chaotic variety show level funny type, but somehow, when all five get together, chaotically hilarious stuff always happens.

A short introduction to the characters:

Sun Woojoo- the leader. He's good at all idol things except dancing, but that gets fixed when the world rewards him for continuing to be a good person even after all the bad... more>> luck he'd suffered through. He gets an ability, but there is no actual system, so bonus points for that. No annoying system. Silly leader is reliable until he gets nervous and starts saying silly things that get added to his black history.

Kim Bijoo- The main dancer. He's a housewife type who is great at cooking, but nags if the group members do something dangerous. Also the devil when it comes to dancing. He's the pretty boy type with blond hair and yellow eyes.

Seo Rihyuk- The main singer. The weakest at dancing in the group, so he gets grilled by Bijoo a lot. In return, he tutors Bijoo, who is weak at singing lol. A tsundere with skin prone to turning tomato red when embarrassed. He's a cat. You'll see what I mean. He finds it hard to verbalize gratitude, but the members know him well enough to not fight over his harsh words.

Kim Junghyun- the main rapper and musclehead of the group. He has magical country boy powers, including but not limited to: predicting the weather, jinxing the group whenever he says something's going well, weirdly good reflexes, and an insane muscular body. Oh, he can be used as a thermometer and is generally only off by.1 degrees Celsius. He's Woojoo's thug for when the other members are teasing their leader too much haha.

Wang Jiho- the youngest (maknae) of the group. He's in charge of cheering everyone up and lightening the mood. He's very good at acting and facial expressions, and uses them to act cute to get away with stealing snacks. He does his best to train his idol skills so he doesn't fall behind the rest.

The members collectively agree that Sun Woojoo is weird and completely trust him to fulfill the weird tasks he's given by the variety show PDs.

I like this novel because the other idol groups are fleshed out as well, and these guys make a lot of friends.

Hope that persuades you to give this novel a try. The manwha is out too. <<less

I read the mtl on and off because there were several arcs that bored me so much, but some of them made me roFL until I cried XD especially the variety shows that they went on, it was so funny I was sure I got some stares when I read it in public.

I'm not complaining about the numbers of chapters though, because at this point I'm too attached to all the characters and sometimes I wonder if there will ever be this kind of idol group irl (delulu much?)

All... more>> in all I like this novel because the atmosphere of the story is in-between Debut or Die (good story but too serious most times) and the Sunfish Idol (cute but too childish for my taste I can't even continue). <<less

This story is a bit different than most about idol life. There are many that start with the MC gaining abilities, but what sets this one apart is it's pacing, it's characters, and it's comedy. The comedy is great!

First off, as others have mentioned, the flow of time in this story is more slice-of-life. The pacing of the writing itself is good, but most of the time skips are a few months at most. (The only exception I've come across so far is in the very beginning where it jumps... more>> 2 years) Even those time skips are usually mentioned. It's something along the lines of "and then we trained, slept, trained, and trained some more".

My favorite thing about this story are the characters. Everyone is complex and realistic, and the MC and his group mates are quirky yet not quite out of the realm of believability. That quirkyness is the best part. The author creates amazing comedy just by having those characters run around. The more you read the funnier it becomes. It's not all comedy though. The author does a nice job of keeping it well balanced with serious and emotional content as well.

I also appreciate the way the MC's ability is handled. Being able to copy movements you see is fantastical, but also vaguely seems like it could possibly be done by someone. The MC uses this ability quite a bit, and in some fun ways, but it doesn't take over. Instead it's just one of the many quirks that make all the other characters think the MC's a weirdo. A very nice and charming weirdo, but strange all the same. Which is why it's so fun to read everything from the MC's point of view who is convinced that he's the normal one in the group.

All in all, it's a great story especially when you want something positive and cheerful. <<less
