Finished in one-sitting, can't put it down.

I really can't explain it in words, it really has the right amount of everything (yes, smut). It might not be THAT dog blooded to me, I've read worst but this book delivered nonetheless. Our baby Ranran suffered a lot T.T

You can read it as a standalone I guess as I haven't read Unsaid. I plan to read it after this because I hear THAT was more dog blooded than this. Love how the author made this have a comedic undertone that can lighten... more>> some negative feelings. For an ABO story this is such a refreshing read for me. I really hope for extras though in ML's POV [cross fingers] <<less

Interesting and very dog blooded plot, right from the start we can see our MC is mistreated and used as a chess piece against the ML. MC is ab*sed at home and ignored by the ML however there's a reasonable explanation for MLs attitude later on (in fact I'm surprised he didn't punch MC as soon as he laid eyes on him) ... more>>
Spoiler

so basically the original Wen ran that MC replaced made fun of our MLs parents dying in a plane crash by folding a paper airplane and throwing it at him ☠️

[collapse]

What I enjoyed the most was the transitioning of the MLS feelings towards our MC and our MC learning the feeling of being loved and adored for, you can even say he's really love deprived as he grew up in a pretty much loveless "family"

The stories pretty slow paced (IMO) and it's basically a slice of life filled with upper class intrigues (also a bit of smut) so if that sounds interesting to you give it a go!

In fact I was preparing for heartbreak but the angst wasn't as bad as I imagined and in fact the novel is quite sweet (??) for the most part. Be prepared for ch 51-53 tho <<less

I absolutely love the ML. He doesn't say much, but his actions speak volumes. He has that indifferent, cold, and sometimes rude personality, but beneath it all, he's incredibly kind and genuinely cares for the people he loves. He's the perfect example of a tsundere.

The MC is equally amazing—so kind, understanding, and always willing to make sacrifices for the ML. Together, they feel like a perfect match, complementing each other in every way.

I've never written a review for a danmei before, and I've also never reread a danmei multiple times... more>> without feeling bored at all, but this one is different. It feels like I could give everything for this danmei. It's like finding a treasure! This is hands down the best OMEGAVERSE danmei I've ever read!

Edit: I've read this story over and over because I really love the MC and the ML. Honestly, I still don't understand why some people say that Gu Yunchi (ML) doesn't really love the MC. As the world's number one Gu Yunchi supporter (lol), I'm really unhappy with this statement! Gu Yunchi clearly loves Wen Ran deeply; it's just that the author didn't write much from his perspective, which I think was a very good choice. From the beginning, the ML is portrayed as someone who doesn't talk much, and the author repeatedly mentions that he has a misanthropic nature. I think it would ruin the ML's character if we got too much of his perspective. Someone like Gu Yunchi should remain mysterious until the end of the story, lol.

Still, throughout the story, we're shown that Gu Yunchi truly loves Wen Ran through his actions—he's willing to give his everything with the hope that MC doesn't suffer anymore. And there are also a few instances where we're told that Gu Yunchi sheds tears for all the hardships Wen Ran has gone through (even though it's not described in detail, but again, this was a very good choice by the author because too much emotion wouldn't suit the ML's character). <<less

I really loved Eternities Unsaid, so I was very excited to read this novel, which acts somewhat as a sequel, but with an entirely new plot and very few references to the prequel. It's definitely not necessary to read the first novel before this one, but I would recommend to do so. I love both, but I will say that I honestly liked this novel just a bit more! There's no random amnesia as with the previous novel and this MC is honestly one the of the most lovable protagonists... more>> I have ever read.

The general plot has a beta MC (Wen Ran) adopted from an orphanage at age 7 and forced to undergo surgery to implant glands to make him an omega to replace his adopted family's deceased omega son. His new glands have a pheromone match with the ML (Gu Yunchi), and the two are forced into a relationship due to ML's pheromone disease which requires a high match omega to alleviate his symptoms.

The ML starts off cold and generally antagonistic towards MC, but he's never physically violent or cruel, choosing to just ignore MC's presence more than anything. His heart honestly never stood a chance though what with how simply likable MC is. Though I would call this somewhat of a slow burn, the relationship does progress very steadily, and I found it pretty easy to figure out how ML was feeling despite his cold personality.

While MC is weak in physical strength and somewhat unable to stand up for himself around his family, he's also so strong in will and able to withstand enormous psychological pressure. He's a bit oblivious, but extremely straightforward, and will voice his feelings and ask for comfort from ML without much hesitation. His perspective is so optimistic while also being so sad to read- he basically expects nothing from ML, which reminds me a lot of MC from Eternities Unsaid.

Like the previous novel, there's a time skip between high school and their adult lives, and the regrets from the past are resolved in the later timeline. This is a relatively easy read, with a cohesive plotline and fairly straightforward character designs, but I found it equal parts touching and humorous. Definitely one of my favorite ABO modern day novels! <<less

This novel follows a beta who's forced to become an omega for an alpha he doesn’t even know, all because of his family’s ambitions, leading to an arranged engagement. It starts off with the typical "cold ML and weak MC" trope, but both characters have way more depth than you'd expect.

The alpha comes off as a jerk (and he kinda is, it gets funny tho), but he has a soft side underneath it all. Meanwhile, the omega might seem like your usual pushover shou, but he is actually strong.

There’s plenty... more>> of angst, but also lots of sweet and humorous moments. I found it funny, though humor can be hit or miss depending on your taste.

This is my favorite read of the year. It’s definitely worth checking out! <<less

Truthfully, I'm a sucker for this trope.

On the contrary, eternities Still Unsaid Till You Love Me isn't my style despite both has awesome story telling.

I love love love who MC is such in love with ML. And ML is truly alpha he can stare me down to death anytime.

I wish I can forget this danmei so I can read it all over again for the first time feeling.

I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't like this novel. I'm in about chapter 25 and I find the scenes to be so repetitive, especially the fever one. And the MC is too melancholic. Everytime I read I just feel sadness oozing from the screen. Honestly I think it's my fault for expecting more because when I saw beta turned omega I was expecting alot more personality or Beta traits, because I don't think anything would change even if he was an omega originally. The ML personality is... more>> as interesting as a blank paper to me. Honestly the only interesting person in this book upto where I've reached is the MCs brother, which is saying alot.

Anyway I can accept that not everyone has the same view and the book may get better as it progresses but I'm not interested enough to continue. <<less

Is this really a comedy, didn't see any comedic undertone so far, the MC's family treats him like a straight up object without feelings, ML treats him like tr*sh, the only one that treats him with a shred of respect is the robot servant. The plot is really addictive, but the angst is so damn intense. I feel kind of deceived because when picking this up I wanted a nice light story about healing but instead I got smacked with all this tragedy.

This is the novel that got me out of my danmei reading slump. I went from reading 1-2 danmei a week to zero for months until ofcourse, I chanced upon this one. And what a pleasant surprise this novel has been.

The characterisation of both MC and ML is a breath of fresh air. What's interesting to me is that I misjudged both the MC and ML (and for someone who reads as much as me, that is rare). When I began reading, the MC came across as the usual weak... more>> airhead shou. And oh boy he is so much more than that. Trust me when I say Wen Ran will surprise you. You will come to adore him. Our strong silly straightforward boy!

Similarly, I thought of the ML as the usual arrogant rich boy who does whatever he wants. But Gu Yunchi is not just some spoilt rich boy. He is thoughtful, calm and mature with his own plans and goals. He might say things harshly but you will never doubt his feelings for Wen Ran.

It is hard to explain but the author writes stereotypical dog-blood/angst tropes with a slice of life flair which makes for such interesting reading. For someone who enjoys slice of life but finds their guilty pleasure in dog blood and angst (like the ordinary danmei reader out there). This author's writing is a total win.

off to read the other story in this universe (which is thankfully complete) ! P.S. The main story is completely translated now!!! (Happy dance) <<less

this novel is probably one of the best abo novels I’ve read in a while. I really loved the authors take on the genders as well as the different themes in this.

i won’t lie, this had me sobbing time after time. I’d wipe my eyes thinking I was done only to get the the next chapter and start sobbing all over again.

I also think the author did well with how consistent the characters personality were. A lot of times these cold aloof ML characters drastically change once they end up... more>> in relationships with the MC, becoming more sweet and smiley and affectionate. And while he did become more noticeably affectionate, this character GY, was consistently a dickhead and consistently a smart ass and honestly I loves him more for it.

No words are needed. Just read it. No regret.

This is a wonderful story with a touching storyline. Heartache for both Wen Ran and Gu Yunchi. I love this, and I love them.

Just read it.

Forgive the simpleton writing. Words elude me at the moment.

The first half of this book was chefs kiss! It had all my favorite tropes, cold ML, sweet/poorly treated MC & forced dating/engagement (all while being sad/ humorous.)

But the second half was a chore to finish. Too much miscommunication, time skips & push/pull. The characters personalities totally changed the MC became distant and cold & the ML became a clingy stalker.

this was a real rollercoaster read.. Still dont want it to end even after crying amidst chapters while binge reading this for 2-3 days.

I really really love this story. I like the development & how it turned out, even though there was a lot of what-ifs, regrettable moments -that you would really wish it happened the other way, It was a rocky almost dreadful start but happy in the end love story.

All the expected hidden blades/pits has been shown & explained as far I remember, it really is a nicely... more>> written novel & great read
Spoiler

only nitpick I could tell is I was sort of expecting a grieving scene for the fetus, a flashback/ a brief narration on Xiao Shu's pov, or a silent acknowledgement from Gu Yunchi but I guess I can accept it is moot, and other than that the writing satisfied all my expectations.

[collapse]

Also love the couple, unique character portayals. Refreshing to read a mensao ML again but I think I like Gu Yunchi's type a little more now. And Xiao Shu's life story is just.. *Sigh* I like everything about him even his clumsy moments, his decisions. Im satisfied on how XS was portrayed and wouldnt change anything about him. He's just such a cutie ughh with all the bad things they experienced growing up they really deserve all the best, and im glad they still ended up together.

Thank you Author, Thank you Translator 💕 <<less

I like this novel, the characters are well fleshed out and I think the author did a great job tying all the dramatic plot threads together and wrapping everything up. Personally, I don't really like the relationship of the main couple, it really feels like the ML does not really like the MC even at the end. I think for me it's because often the actions that are supposed to represent the MLs love are explained by other characters or skipped over in the story. I think that this is... more>> definitely some people's cup of tea but it's not mine and I would recommend the other novel in this universe instead of this one. <<less

Raws reader here! This story is set as the same universe as “Eternities still unsaid until you love me”, but you don’t need to read the 1st one to understand this can be read as a stand-alone.

As the plot suggests it’s pretty much your dog blood arranged-marriage plot with falling in love after getting engaged. The reason why I voted this as a 5 star current is the very much addictive plot, the MC is a very adorable and cute character. You might want to punch the ML in the... more>> 1st like... 20-ish chapters but you’ll find out later despite his harsh words he’s a cute Tsundere lol.

The angst is pretty straightforward, but I’d like to give props for the author because I was sobbing at 3 am reading the raws😭🤡 <<less

Have you read eternities still unsaid? Read it, you will like it.

You haven't read eternities still unsaid? Read it, you will also like it.

This novel is great, both as a sequel or as a standalone, in all posible levels. The two main characters will GROW ON YOU, the ML is "annoying" at first, but then (without changing his personality or what makes him HIM) he becomes one of the most lovable characters in all of the book. The MC's resolution to move on and stop being a tool is perfect,... more>> I admire him, I aspire to be like him, it is simply amazing. Their story has dogblood, yes, (perhaps a bit more than ESUTYLM) but it isn't any less heartwarming. Their relationship dynamic is cute, their character development was done perfectly. It also includes the struggles in an ABO world, with the addition of the Beta narrative, which was refreshing.

As for its relationship with ESUTYLM:

Spoiler

The mention of Xu Ze and Lu Heyang was amazing, their cameos were few but meaningful. The author said that the two timelines don't match perfectly, so try not to compare them, but to me there were no big discrepancies. I loved the characters in the last book, but the main themes in the story where not my cup of tea, despite the book being good, (more information can be found in my review for that novel) ; but when XZ and LHY appeared here I found them even more lovable, their appearance was very enjoyable. When I read ESUTYLM I really liked Gu Yunchi, and I had high hopes for his book, and I was NOT disappointed.

[collapse]
I recommend to read the other book first and try this one immediately after. Is it necessary? No. After all, the characters and storylines are very different, so you may like one book more than the other, but I still enjoyed having the whole panorama for all the characters (Still missing He Wei's and Chi Jiahan's story ;-;)

Overall a great book, brought me close to tears many times; great translation too!!! It has deep reflections and the way the two characters compliment each other is PERFECT. Definitely a must read. <<less

Not gonna say this is legendary or anything, but it was a good novel. I cried a few times when reading it.

I think the best thing in this novel is how the characters are complex and mostly memorable. Most side characters have personality even if they don't show up that often, and they're not all black/white. I think the ML's friends got fleshed out the least, but that might be because they have another novel for them?

The MC isn't the smartest, but his IQ is enough for him to be... more>> a normal person. He feels realistic enough, and I appreciate how he actually gets character development and starts to try things despite being highly controlled and stuck in a hard spot.

I think my biggest gripe with the novel is that I still don't understand when/how the ML fell in love with the MC. I couldn't find an explicit reason, and it just seemed as if the ML just decided to be nice to him one day. I understood why the ML had reasons to dislike the MC (and more on that was revealed later too), but even with the author going back / explaining the past... I couldn't figure out how the ML fell for the MC. Maybe because the MC was just nice to him and sincere? Perhaps I'm just not good at catching romance, but I understood why the MC fell for the ML.

Either way, their romance was sweet. It wasn't toxic despite the circumstances (ML does do some mildly forceful stuff (B&E), but it's nothing compared to actual toxic romance in BL lmao).

Overall, it was a decent read. Plot was okay (Lots of not communicating XD but interesting) albeit a little predictable. Not mindblowingly amazing, but I connected with the characters and cried for them. <<less

I gave this a 4 star for the MC. The most strongest, brave and gentle MC who I would take bullets for in a heart beat. He deserve so much for all the pain he went through. The reason why I didn't give it a 5 is the ML. Personally I don't like tsundere, stoic men like him. This type of personality always invite miscommunication because they don't openly communicate their feelings and thoughts in a clear way. I seriously think the MC deserves someone better, someone who doesn't make... more>> him second guess their partner feeling all the time. Like throughout the second half of the plot the ML saying "sorry" and his action to me was the bare minimum of what he should have compensated MC for after all the miscommunication he created that made the MC suffer. I also hated the rest of the Wen (mainly the ex mom, even the brother is annoying) family and everyone involved in making the MC go through so much. <<less

This is my first recommendation here.

the novel is not very long yet it includes all the highs and lows, all the hates and the loves with amazing ending. The characters are not perfect and you can see the developments in the characters. Until the end, their characters were realistic. I really loved it.

You may find it as usual with the the same plot, arrange marriage - fell in love - some drama. But this one's variables are different. The plot is different.

Authors' description is vey wise. From the very start, I was a bit upset with MC's character build up. Later I got to realise MC becoming someone like a doll is very normal according to the situation. MC and ml's interactions, one may find them different, different them other stories. In my opinion, according to human nature it's very normal behaviour.... more>> So one may find things very off-putting. But going through their life description, things are actually pretty wisely scripted.

It has some tragic scene here and there, some twist, but not heavily tragic. So you can give it a go if you want something ABO, but not the regular one. <<less
