I’m Too Lazy To Run away

A major ordeal has struck someone like me, a socially inept person who finds everything in life bothersome.

Thanks to my average looks, I had been coasting through life effortlessly, but suddenly, I found myself the center of unwanted attention. And, as expected, I’ve somehow become Baek Eun-Seong, an extra whose sole joy is tormenting the main characters before ultimately meeting their downfall.

Apparently, I’ve been kidnapped by the male protagonist, Cha Gil-Do…

“Can I take a nap now?”

“Are you out of your mind? Do you still not understand the situation?”

“…Yes.”

I might be slow to grasp things, but hey, what’s life, anyway? I’m just an extra, so I figure staying quiet will do the trick. I just want to be left alone to rest, but why are you keeping me locked up instead of dealing with the heroine?

Welp, another day of being fooled by KR Novel's beautiful cover.

To enjoy this novel, you must turn off your brain.

MC : No thoughts, head empty. Even a 10 years old would have more logic and survival instinct than him.

... more>> ML : Violent (at the start), s*xual harassment, and attempted r*pe.

MC will forget (or don't mind) all the harm ML did to him, but remember all the good things ML did to him, then dub him as "a good person". Also, ML did all the above and MC wasn't scared at all, but when another character get close to MC and touched his neck (that was bitten by ML), MC was very scared and ran to ML.

I do not need a realistic character, but it at least needs to be believable... <<less

I've read up to Chapter 41 on Ridibooks, and I just need to say, it was definitely not worth my money or time 😭🤚

At first, the misunderstandings were terribly addicting, but gradually, it became more and more ridiculous how these two could even communicate hello without misunderstanding each other.

In a nutshell, the MC transmigrates into the body of the villain in a drama he watched before, Baek Eunsung. At the worst possible timing, he transmigrated when the OG Baek Eunsung was getting kidnapped and planned to be mu*dered by the... more>> ML because the OG Baek Eunsung had already done some unspeakable things to the OG FL of the drama.

Spoiler

In the beginning, it was said that the OG Baek Eunsung had "feelings" for the FL, so he stalked her, and after she tried to chase him away, he attempted to gr*pe her (if I remember correctly).

But apparently, in the later chapters, it's revealed that this is not true. And there's actually a massive backstory to the OG Baek Eunsung and the reasons why he did what he did, which I won't be getting into detail about.

[collapse]

What's unique about this novel is that the MC's acceptance of his transmigration was realistic, I would say. He took time to process that he was in a different body. And because of that, he ended up revealing to the ML that he isn't Baek Eunsung in the start, and that turned into the misunderstanding that the MC has dissociative identity disorder/split personality and the main personality had vanished due to trauma.

Many Ridi readers believe that MAY be true, though.

Anyhow, the core misunderstanding is that the ML believes that the MC is su*cidal and has low self-esteem issues (which is true), but the MC believes... honestly, I don't know what he believes, I think his head is empty at this point.

He views the ML, who is quite literally his kidnapper and confined him in his own house, as his generous landlord because he's not making him pay or do anything in return for this free housing lmfao. The author also gradually reveals how poorly the MC used to live, so having this sudden change in environment was honestly a welcome to him.

And how the misunderstanding of the MC's su*cidal behaviour came to life... is quite literally because of the MC himself.

I read the translated chapters on System707, and although it's understandable, it misinterprets some details from the novel itself. For example, in the novel, the MC actually withholds some words in his dialogue and the author presents those words within brackets, making us understand how the ML could misunderstand those words and how the MC innocently believes he's presenting himself. But the translator just gets rid of those brackets, making the WHOLE dialogue and narrative change.

I'll give an example below of what the real dialogue looks like from Chapter 10.

Spoiler

ML - "Aren't you curious about what kind of person you were?"

MC - "I have a rough idea."

ML - "What do you know?"

MC - "tr*sh."

ML - "...."

MC - "Am I wrong?"

ML - "No, you're accurate. Then what about you? What kind of person is Kim Doyoon?"

MC - "... tr*sh?"

MC - "Why is Kim Doyoon the same kind of tr*sh as Baek Eunsung?"

MC - "Because I lack worth."

ML - "What worth?"

MC - "Uh... the worth of living (as a proper person) ?"

And the reason why the MC said he lacked the worth of living as a proper person is because he is essentially a lazy person, but you can tell from his POV, he is an extremely unreliable narrator and also has low self-esteem issues.

[collapse]

From that example, you can see how addicting the misunderstanding came to be lol. One side is toxic angst and confinement (ML's POV) and the other is a touching healing story (MC's POV).

But overtime, it just got too much because the ML was just a hot, blazing red flag. His reactions to the MC's behaviour were too much, and he would just instantly resort to restraining him, confining him, forcibly mol*sting him, kissing him, and even sexually touching him when he misunderstands that the MC is running away or having su*cidal thoughts when he actually wasn't even thinking a SINGLE strand about it 😭 !?

And the MC's reaction to this type of behaviour? He's honestly so FORGIVING and clueless that it's almost a miracle he has at least one brain cell alive in that head of his.

90% of this novel's plot exists solely because of how the MC withholds his words and how the ML does absolutely NOTHING to say how he's interpreting his words and just uses action to respond instead 😭

An example that ticked me off was how the author presented the MC as a genius artist. When they finished their dinner date or whatever, the ML had to take a call and went away for a bit. While waiting for the ML, the MC notices an unfinished mural on the restaurant wall. Mind you, there were HIRED workers who were paid to finish that mural. And the MC decides to completely paint over that mural and paint a scenery of cherry blossoms, which he saw a viewing of together with the ML. As an artist myself, I found that extremely uncomfortable and unrealistic.

After that, the ML comes back and misunderstands that the MC was trying to run away and forcibly tries to gr*pe him in the car before the MC faints. Then afterwards, he realised the MC was just only painting on the wall and he just misunderstood. I don't think he apologised afterward... This is only chapter 7, yall.

And it still gets worse from there 😭 because from what I'm seeing in the comments of Ridibook, there is still NO sign of any resolution of misunderstandings in the last 113 Chapters. It got to the point where the Ridi readers even said even if the MC and ML texted each other on phone or wrote on paper, they would still misunderstand each other's words.

But... the only reason I read so far was because it was so ridiculous that it was entertaining. So I recommend reading this if you're bored, need some brainless plot, crave some funny misunderstandings and want to read how a novel can show a toxic angst and an extremely healing plot at the same time through the POVs of the ML and MC respectively.

Edit: It just completed, and I heard there's actually more depth to this novel than I thought and it's getting good. <<less

It's a nice dark couple of chapters, but I was completely turned off by the SA and the misunderstandings.

The ML is pretty much attic wifing the MC after kidnapping him. Yeah.

This may trigger some people, especially because the author goes really deeply into the description of MCs feelings.

Careful reading guys!

So far, things don't look as grim as the usual story of an innocent man being locked up.

The MC probably didn't even transmigrate...

In general, you can see that he's acting weird and abnormal from the beginning, even when he's narrating on his own behalf.

And why ML is being so cruel to MC is simply explained.

ML himself is not a villain or a psychopath yet

The original villain is a real monster. That's why ML, knowing that, acted violently:

Spoiler

Once he (villain) targeted someone, he destroyed everything around them. Starting with violence and chaos, he'd escalate to drugs, kidnapping, and torture, relentlessly driving his targets to the brink. The options left to such people were few.

Four had committed su*cide.

The reasons for his targets were absurd—eye contact, physical contact, gossiping behind his back, or rejecting him.

When they first met, Baek Eun-Seong had been committing yet another heinous act. Cha Gil-Do couldn't forget the image of him attempting to assault Kang Ji-Ah.

Back then, his only thought had been to kill him. Listing everything he had done was enough to make anyone grimace.

Baek Eun-Seong was an evil that shouldn't exist. Even someone like Cha Gil-Do, who had always been ambivalent about the dichotomy of good and evil, was sure of it. Eliminating him felt like doing a good deed for the world.

Further spoilers about the contents of the 15 chapters below.

Spoiler

He (MC) is the original villain who has gone insane and suffers from dissociative identity disorder.

And often he sees and hears differently than the people around him because of his insanity. MC - unreliable narrator.

[collapse]

In a couple chapters on ML's behalf, it turns out that he's saying very different things than what we read about on MC's behalf.

Like:

Spoiler

(MC)

I looked at the IV drip attached to my arm. Doesn't this mean I'll live longer? In this state, I couldn't even guess when the villain's exit would happen.

"Doesn't look like I'll die today... "

(ML)

After sending the attending doctor away, he returned to the room where Baek Eun-Seong was. Nothing had changed. No one sought him, and no one wanted him, so it didn't matter how broken his mind became.

And yet...

"Will I die tomorrow?"

Seeing Baek Eun-Seong mutter absentmindedly while staring into the void made Cha Gil-Do's heart sink.

For Now I am not rating this work. It's still too early for that but there are a few thing I would like

to highlight

    1. MC and ML both have a few screws loose. How should I put it? It's like they are both weird'
    1. First MC I think process things very slowly. Just Imagine you woke somewhere else all of a sudden, wearing different clothes and you already imagine from slap at your face and girl's appearance that you are mol*sting her. But Nah you don't know.... more>> And with the way he thinks his reflection in the mirror is a ghost.
        1. A person comes and tell you to bark and you actually did. He is keeping you confined and is strangely cold and warm with. And you think he is your landlord now.
        1. WHY? WHY??? Why the hell aren't asking him why are you being beaten and confined???
        1. The other person is obviously talking to you, calling you Baek Eun-Seong, The girl Kang Ji ah but you still don't get in what kind of mess you are but thinks the other party is talking about drama.
        1. Why don't he understand even though the other man is cruel and weirdly nice to him. That man has an unhealthy obsession with him. He is keeping you confined, He beat you up. You don't understand what's going on but there is still something engraved in him. No matter what he thinks the other person is nice.
        1. He talks about his uni and projects but he doesn't even remember the faces of his classmates. Yeah totally normal.

        1. It took him some time to realize that he has transmigrated so he just thought that he will stay here till he dies and after death he will return to his world. Isn't it still weird how can he be sure that he will return to his world.
        1. Oh and he is also dense with emotions like biting your neck for giving you a hickey but he is like. 'Why this person likes to bite me'
Oh and male lead, believe me! Is he an a**hole? Yes he is. Does MC deserve it? Yes. He is warm at times and beast also. To be honest I think he has a thing for MC (really not).

I think he is not angry at MC for being shitty but he just want to monopolize MC cuz there is no other way I can explain Why is he so ruthless to MC and still forcefully warm at time.

        1. He is cold like a ruthless person ready to judge him, kill him and yet he he didn't. Even male lead himself doesn't understand that.
        1. He is caring like a lover exactly his care will make you feel that he has been in love with this person for years but that's only if you have not read his pov.
        1. At times he treats MC like his caged canary and behaves like he owns mc
        1. And Forces himself on MC.

In regards of forcing himself how is he any better that og mc? He practically almost r*ped him.
        1. He is good yet bad and bad yet good but despite everything we can't forget the fact that our MC is innocent and oblivious to the rules of world so what ML is doing right now is just trying to taint an innocent soul with his desires someone who who doesn't even understand what is happening? And why is happening?
I don't like ML in one sense that this bastard tried to force himself on MC and he always forcefully kiss him and all but (yep the og villain deserves that but he clearly understand that og and the other personality in MC body is not same. The other personality can't be blamed for host personality sins.) He is so good to MC at times (just my illusion) I can hardly imagine anyone to be that good. I think he has a bipolar personality (just kidding) but right now most of the things he does just want me to jump in book and beat the sh*t out of him.

      Spoiler

All in all for now ML is only keeping MC near him cuz MC is interesting. That's why he calls doctor for him, psychiatrist for him, provides food and clothing, taking him out on (obv dates) outings to keep him healthy and gifting the only watch purchased in country costing 35M$ (well it's not like money matters much to rich people) to his prisoner. (He is obviously just obsessing over but it's not just a simple interest)

      [collapse]

And now there is difference and MC and ML narratives like

      Spoiler

MC: "The writer intended it that way, and it's quickly forgotten anyway." about og villain's death aka mc

what ML actually heard: "I decided it would be. Besides, people forget soon enough."

MC obviously talked about Writer but ML heard him talking about himself. I don't understand if this is simply a mistake or something else.

      [collapse]

Still I would love to explore their relationship more cuz MC is obliviously cute and ML is red flag at times and yet he has the potential to become the sweetest green flag. All in all it's gonna be a sweet and fluffy yet angsty story and I am all for it. Who doesn't like a little bit of angst because actually I do.

And they are gonna get married? Aren't they? Look at both of their ring fingers on novel cover. I am excited. <<less

Hehe, I feel a lot of the reviews are a little exaggerated LOL. I was expecting this to have some deep psychological perspectives or maybe even a killing stalking vibe but its surprisingly very.... tame?

Lets start with the biggest issue the MC baek he's well....... I don't know even what to say. Im just curious how someone as naive and slow as him managed to live for so long. Like I don't even blame the ML for kidnapping him because this guy has the IQ of a toddler but none... more>> of its self preservation skills.

Sigh, the concept is very cool though. A MC who doesn't want to live, has a mental illness and a timid personality 'transmigrates' into a villain. I put that word in quotations because I doubt he really transmigrated.

Spoiler

His memories of this supposed drama or novel is very vague. He even admits the fact he's never watched it and only knows a few characters and some spoilers. Which at first you think, 'alright whatever' as must of us have probably seen this same plot line dozens of times it doesn't catch our attention. But like a small bug you can't help but feel irked especially when his mental states keeps deteriorating...

[collapse]

Despite my cursing I really do like this MC Lol I just wish it could be done properly one of my favorite trops is characters like Cale heintune from tr*sh of the count family who hate sacrificing or hurting themselves but always end up in those situations and others misinterpreted it.. But this MC is definitely different from that still Mls misunderstanding is very satisfying hehe.

I do dislike the ML because he's very hahaaaaa 'smart, rich, handsome' and his behavior also makes me question his brain cells. In general I just dislike wishy washy characters. If the author wants to make him hate MC then do it and he wants to make him love the MC I don't care but why the hell is this guy acting like he has bipolar? LOL maybe I'm just odd but even if he thinks MC has DID I could never love someone who literally tortued 4 innocent people to death.

Well the ML isn't a saint like some of you are saying either although he says he's kidnapped MC to stop him from harming society that's a lie. He's at least in my opinion no less ruthless than original MC haha. <<less

So far love the story, finally a relatable MC who goes to sleep at the first sign of trouble.

Very interesting twist of the kidnapping genre where the kidnappee doesn't realized he's kidnapped, and doesn't want to leave.

The ML also understands quickly that the MC isn't the person he (the original character his body possessed) used to be. The MC never tries to hide anything but the whole situation is bizarre so it often leads to small misunderstanding.

Some triggers that might turn readers away:

1. Suicidal thoughts:

Spoiler

the MC thinks he needs to die to get back to his own world, the ML over hears it and togther with a doctor saying he has DID disorder and will try to self anihilate, thinks MC is suicidal and bc of it tries very hard to make him want to live

[collapse]

2. Depression:

Spoiler

MC is a very simple minded person who likes to chill in his room 24 7, but that couples with ML thinking he's Suicidal and him not eating a lot makes him think his depressed. Which isn't inherently true, but reading how his day to day activity go does spark depressive thoughts of futility. Maybe that's just me.

[collapse]

3. Attempted SA:

Spoiler

The ML has a misunderstanding and thinks the MC was trying to go SA thr fl, so he wanted to give him a taste of his own medicine, but before it went in, realized his mistake and took everything back

Interchanging point of views.

Interesting take in what happens if transmigration happens and the MC is a 'normal' person (with anxiety)

Spoiler

Usually it only shows it on the first chapter how the MC is shocked to find themselves in a different body but somehow seamlessly adapts by the next chapter, MC here thought he was seeing a ghost, very understandable and realistic.

[collapse]

The cliff hanger and suspense keeps me reading forwards, just when something happens it suddenly goes back previous chapters to show the other point of view, a little frustrating, good thing it's not verbatim, there are subtle key informations that give depth to the MC and ML because they're not together 24/7.

Spoiler

Chapter 43 MC just got kidnapped by the original body owner's family just when he faints next chapter is MLs point of view going back a few chapters. I don't know how it will go but I hope the kidnapping doesn't get dragged to much. Why does the original owners family need to come back to the picture they didn't exist in the original novel.

I just want them to get together again, ML still needs to grovel from the past chapters non-consent. (No 🍇but MC did not agree to intimate contact) they need to communicate and live happily ever after.

General Spoilers Ahead!

Honestly I'm enjoying it! The ML is that sort of obsessive sweet yandere archetype and the MC is a weak person from a poor background. ML isn't obsessive to the point of being an as*hole (to others) though, he's just very focused. I LOVE reading the ML's POV to see how xyz has been misinterpreted. I think it's quite funny. The MC is just trying to live his life and he's only *slightly* self deprecating (maybe a bit depressed) but in the eyes of the ML it's dialed... more>> to a hundred and he's the most fragile man in existence.

MC acting solely on the original series
Spoiler

(not even the novel because he apparently never read it)

[collapse]

I think the other characters are also very typical of dog blood dramas. They have their own misinterpretations and motivations which clearly causes them to act certain ways. I think the trope of originally lovable FMC being displaced in their own story to become an antagonist (because im only on C. 43 and thats where this seems to be going) is kinda interesting. Maybe they'll be friends down the line?

The story is full of very typical toxic yaoi tropes and drama tropes in general so you can't take it too seriously. If you're weak to yandere/toxic stuff then maybe don't read this. It did take me a while to understand some of the stuff in the beginning chapters (like the
Spoiler

glassware breaking scene and how that was misinterpreted lol. Turns out ML thinks MC tried to commit su*cide then and there but really he just cut his hand

[collapse]

I just had to make this review not because this is the most phenomenal thing I've read but clearly some people were expecting maybe a different kind of story. Really the MC I could probably read about in those depressing otomeisekai manwhas :skull: and every other character belongs in a drama series wwwww. Oh and smut, does kissing count as smut? There's a lot of it (☆▽☆). This is a very turn your brain off trope-y read and dark subjects don't really bother me so I like it. I am excited to see where it goes and I wanna read more chapters! <<less
