Standard ‘let’s grind and evolve!’ premise; although, if you’re a sucker for them as much as I am, the options are surprisingly small, and this definitely scratches the itch.

The fights are well outlined, I like the different creatures, and it’s a good novel to read that doesn’t require heavy thinking. For now, the main character doesn’t have a lot of distinctive personality features; if I had to say, they’re more practical and serious than other monster evolution main characters. A solid monster evolution story, although it seems to lack direction at this point. It's just continuously evolving and moving into different biomes to find stronger monsters to level up efficiently, and repeat.

Other than appealing to cat enthusiasts, there also seems to be little reason why the protagonist had to be a cat in particular, and the behaviour mostly resembles a gamer focused on levelling up rather than a monster. Overall, I can't help but compare it to Kumo desu ga, nani ka? Which is such a stark difference that it seems unfair. This story just falls behind in literally every single aspect, from worldbuilding to the main character, to plot, the whole evolution system and the pacing of the evolutions, etc. (Also characters since no other characters have appeared yet).

There's some potential for future development if the story breaks out of its current routine at some point, but it's not a masterpiece by any means from my point of view. <<less
