This is a novel I really can't recommend at all. I tend to find these types of novels interesting, this novel basically falls under the category of misunderstandings only that things are truly out of the protagonists hands and he has no real drive or motivation to do anything about it.

Maybe the first 5 chapters was a bit amusing but it couldn't have gotten old any quicker than it did. Honestly, it's incredibly dull and boring to read, forcing me to drop it after a mere 35 chapters which is... more>> rare. None of the jokes hit home after the first time, there's no energy or decent pacing and the MC himself couldn't be more uninteresting and bland. I really don't know what the author was trying to do here.

It had the potential to be hilarious, no doubt about that, but what it ended up as is just wasted potential. The whole story revolves around the MC being otherworldly handsome and beloved by the heavens yet stuck with extremely crappy talent and the mindset of an average adult with half an inferiority complex. This combo just doesn't work. He'll, for no reason whatsoever, get blessed with various things and everyone thinks he's way too awesome while he himself has a dreary inner monologue where he brings himself down every chapter. I think this is where the biggest issue with this novel is, the crux of the problem that removes any potential this had of being hilarious.

That is... the MC himself. He's not only bland, unexceptional and boring as a character, he's also such a downer in his own inner monologue, neverending complaints about how everyone is misunderstanding while he himself doesn't really dare to solve anything. He has no energy nor courage to deal with anything, instead just trying to ignore everything while hoping it'll fix itself. He has no real reactions to everything happening around him, being nothing but a receiver for the amazement of others. His lack of proper reactions, spirit and soul is what makes this an incredibly boring read. Who wants to read a comedy focused novel with a MC that's so negative all the time? And not even negative in a funny way. This novel would probably be comedy gold if the MC was changed for someone with some balls, some gall and a fair amount of shamelessness. Someone who would revel in being blessed by the heavens and everyone around him instead of feeling bothered by it. Someone abusing this misunderstanding that is hardly a misunderstanding at all.

So, thanks to the MC, this novel is a complete failure. I don't even feel like it's worth reading at all. I won't go as far as saying it's worth a 1/5, but 2/5 is a very reasonable score because I find this novel unreadable with the MC being as he is. I wish the author would've realized that this setting doesn't go well with a boring, negative, dull and slow-paced protagonist. Everything from his thinking to his actions screams of him just being a generic old dude from earth being half-tired of life, dulled by everyday society. This simply isn't the slightest bit entertaining. I wouldn't even read this novel if I had nothing else to read. <<less

This is an amazing story that is on par with cultivation chat group, reverend insanity, the legendary mechanic, and the lord of the mysteries in terms of comedy, trolling, plot, mc's otherworldly handsomeness, etc.

This novel is somewhat interesting for a little while but quickly gets old. The "average talent" means nothing as the main character basically gets everything handed to him on a gold platter early on. There is no challenge, there is no difficulty, there isn't much other than face slapping and reactions as the main character receives divine blessing and heavenly treasures dropped onto him. It's like Emperor's Domination but light hearted and a main character that's somewhat normal mentally.

Good Concept but the Pathetic excuse of an MC ruins the entire experience.

Seriously the title of 'The Most Pathetic, Unlikeable and Useless MC' has a new favorite contender.

For god's sake he is so pathetic that u can't help but think what kind of brain disease would make the Heavenly Dao choose this kind of f*cker as its chosen one. Oh, that and the world's doomed!

I was cheated by the tags argh!!!! Mature???!!! My 3yr old nephew does better. Pragmatic!!!??? that ain't being pragmatic author, its being selfish. Shameless??... more>> oh this is correct, the thickness of his face makes the Great Wall Of China inferior. Weak!!?? Author u just had him blow up a hill, replace it with coward instead.

Now while its not as well written as other cultivation parodies and wish fulfilment, such as 'I'm Actually a Cultivation Bigshot', 'History's No.1 Founder', etc. It should not have been guilty of such terrible rating, as the author added the right ingredients (if of cheaper quality) it should have been edible enough if not a delicacy.

However... HOWEVER, the author decided to add sh*t to the dish make it too utterly disgusting to swallow. The name of this shit? Lu Changsheng, the MC.

Now to those who feel I'm being too harsh, its make an analogy.. Say u r in group for some project with a super popular jock from your school, and the principal is his mother and the mayor is his dad, so like u do ALL the work in the group but most credits go to the jock, and in due time he treats u badly looks down on u and bullies u, but everyone in the school feels that YOU are leeching off him instead, and the mom & dad back him everywhere and hand him everything on the silver platter, so that he can continue leeching off others while getting all the credit. So tell me whether u can find it in urself to like such a f*cker???Nah!!!

So now let's substitute, Jock= MC, Mom= Heavenly Dao, Dad = Author/Plot Armor, The 1 who did the work =the entire world other than MC.

Find urself liking the MC much? Me ? Not At All!!!

As if that wasn't enough, the MC treats the people around him terribly. Eg:-

so he made his juniors do dangerous experiments without telling them its risk and 1 one got amnesia cuz MC used them to test his pills. he wrote the name of another junior while doing a prank and then the person was offended so he threw the blame and ran away like the tr*sh he is, making the person who was offended get beaten cuz MC was a guest. He threw away the letter other ppl folded in a festival cuz he got only letters from males in the lanterns he picked & cuz he's tr*sh!!! There was even a time when he was hoping that his junior could get hurt so that he could get a convenient excuse to hide.

AND ALL THIS TO THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE SHOWN HIM NOTHING BUT KINDNESS!!!!!!!!

Omg this book is hilarious!!!!! MC is like the 'true' son of the world, Dao's pampered child, son of destiny etc etc without actually progressing in his cultivation lmaooo. All his 'profound' sentences (aka copied from modern-day history books that he remembers thank God for his good memorising ability) can help everyone else ascend higher and higher while he can only gnash his teeth and remain the weakest in the sect.

I know I haven't completely read the novel, but till where I have read, the MC is smart, witty and... more>> cautious and this dichotomy between supernatural high events that's always happening around him vs his actual strength often leads to such hilarious incidents hahahaha.

I really like the misunderstanding factor of this novel, the MC is always seen as mysterious and powerful when he can’t even fight or spews bs that is seen as some kind of profound wisdom, the plot of the story is lighthearted and interesting and I definitely recommend it to those that wish to pass time with lighthearted stories and enjoy it at the same time. The only downside being that it takes months between each update and I’m grateful to Translator-San for his hard-work and hoping they don’t drop... more>> it since the long wait is sending my overactive imagination running and I can’t help but worry that they might drop it between each wait. <<less

I think the reason why the ratings are polarized is due to how the author writes. It's a mixture of show and tell depending on which pov and the setting. It's very challenging for the translators and some things are not conveyed perfectly. I also think it's because most of us read a lot of fanfiction. The wish fulfilment is being met but the over powered trope is not and that can throw people off. I prefer this as you won't have one dimensional villain that only need to be... more>> hit by MC to win. You get to see MC use his words to try to diffuse situations and learn more about the settings besides generic cultivation novel. MC will linger in each stage you will actually be able to see the limits of the stage over several chapters not just one or two. <<less

This novel got me laughs in each chapter, I feel that it is like a parody of the cultivation novels, I left it before before chapter 300 because the novel was taking an exaggerated couse with making the protagonist stronger, well I agree with a comment that he said that they give everything on a gold platter to the protagonist but that makes the novel more comical, I recommend it to you, it will get you a lot of laughs.

It's an average novel.

Reading the reviews, I thought the comedy part would keep me entertained, but for me, the jokes in this novel are a bit shallow and childish for my taste.

They got some smiles from me, but they didn't made me laugh.

... more>> Besides that I didn't see a story, just the same scene repeating itself in different places. No character building for the MC and side characters. No story development. No suspense, no conflict, no nothing.

It's an empty novel, like a sitcom. Some may have fun reading it, but it's not for me.

If you like those more silly sitcoms, maybe you'll like this novel a lot. <<less

I admit the first couple chapters were unique and funny. However as the story progresses, it feels like the author is jerking the MC off way too much.. There should be a limit to using exaggeration in a story for comedy. Aside from that, it lacks any kind of worldbuilding, and character development/backgrounds are incredibly shallow.
