I finished MTLing this novel because the plots are just too intriguing and I can't wait for the TLed chapters.。゜ (`Д´) ゜。

This novel revolves around the appearance of the Abandoned World, where time stops and only those will potentials can enter. There're dangers everywhere; monsters and humans alike. You just need to survive until the Abandoned World goes away.

The most memorable thing in this novel, IMHO, is the plot. If you read the spoiler thread, you'd know that the novel is a whole loads of butterfly effects going out of... more>> control.

So we have our lovely Jian Hua and Li Fei as the MC and ML, honestly not caring what happen with the world, but then we have the transmigrators insisting they are from the real world, trying to defeat the unknowingly-labeled-as-BOSSES MC and ML. While the transmigrators try their hardest to prevent the BOSSESS from developing their powers, they are actually pushing MC and ML to become more powerful instead.

And in midst of that, things happen:

'You think the second awakening will happen? LOL joke on you. It won't.'

'You think the monsters only appeared later? Pfft they'll appear right about now.'

'You think the story line will follow the original book? (/¯◡ ‿ ◡) /¯ ~ ┻━┻' And who will guess the reason why the final BOSS was defeated in the original book?

Spoiler

It's the MC's OP power rooting him in the Abandoned World when it disappeared, taking MC along with him.

[collapse]

But worry not, it's only happens in the original book. It's HE in the novel we enjoy right now.

The MC is quite an indifferent character (which I like). And the development in MC and ML's relationship is gradual, which I like. And no weak uke either!

Five stars; recommended for everyone to read. The novel is quite slow-building I think, before the whole shebang of abilities holders got leaked to public happens, so some might want to stack the chapters. <<less

This novel's prose made me want to cry and not for good reasons.

The storyline is so lovely but still, I dropped this novel three times and picked it up again four times, restarting from the beginning each time (and reaching almost a hundred chapters 2nd time before I gave up). I thought it was bad translation each time. I strained my brain cells trying to grasp each chapter. I really wanted to cry each time I re-picked it up.

The descriptions are a mess! The transition between one action and the... more>> other is sometimes disjointed. I needed to read a several paragraphs twice to understand what was happening earlier in that chapter. Many important points are not properly explained which makes it quite confusing, e.g. The powers in the early chapters.

The novel also fails at "painting a picture" with words about what is happening in several scenes. The order of events is not arranged step by step, example:

Spoiler

One time they are acting on set, the next thing, the MC's mushroom ability starts tearing into a black smoke (I'm not even sure how it appeared), and then it pulls out a corpse, then a bunch of words. A chapter later, we can deduce the course of events, that the corpse actually levitated for a few seconds before it fell, and confusingly, the black smoke is actually the border to the abandoned world that opened there. If the characters discover this along with me (the reader) there is no problem, but the characters know and the description doesn't properly explain. This happens several times, so there is a feeling of being left behind.

[collapse]

Another point is, it ois a bit difficult to get immersed in the characters (even though they are interesting) and their emotions. Their feelings and reactions are written drily. The main point of disconnect is the dialogue and the switching pov.

The dialogues can be a bit confusing, boring and I can't grasp the jokes, maybe because of the description or translation problem.

Overall, love the plot, love the story, but I wish someone could write-in some parts to flesh it up. <<less

I've actually read up until chapter 50+, but I forgot where I left off.

Anyways, if there's one thing remarkable about this novel, it's the world building.

Spoiler

The story is set in a "book" where the world shifts between its regular version and "The Abandoned World, " where time is frozen and all sorts of nasty monsters exist. Although time is frozen, the people who are lucky (or unlucky) enough to enter the Abandoned World can affect non-living things, but not the living. So they can try and eat or drink while in this world, but they will not be affected. But time does resume after they exit that world, so whatever they have eaten/drunk will immediately exist or affect them once the world goes back to normal. Aside from that, people who can enter the Abandoned World can awaken abilities.

[collapse]

I love how creative the concept of the world was.

And the Main Character, who is the book's hidden antagonist, is also a great person. He has a high IQ and EQ, so seeing him interact with others (especially the suspicious side characters) is a charm! Those side charas think they can fool him? Hahaha nah

Also, this is a BL story, so fair warning to those uncomfortable with the genre. The story itself is quite action packed and adrenaline pumping, so it's your loss though. <<less

First off forgive my grammar.

The story has a decent plot and a good concept for the world. The idea I can get behind but my main issue with this story is the fact that I can't get over the authors lack of knowledge when he is writing about standard things in America. He is using certain situations and environments for his story but it is very evident that he has no idea what he is writing about.

Take for example the "protagonist" as the story calls him, lived in the slums... more>> couldn't afford schooling until one event that caused some politician to create a charity for poor children to afford public school. I understand its different over there but in America public schooling is free from k through 12. Also saying that he couldn't afford food at school there are all kind of programs to keep that from happening. Also the bullying the rich kids picking on the poor kids. I understand that is happening but still in any city that has above a certain population you will have multiple school districts. And most of them would be divided by income class and so forth. Now I understand I may be nitpicking but I feel if your going to write a story do your research before just throwing something in there because it sounds "cool".

As someone that grew up in the southern states in a low income family I just couldn't get over how he depicted it. Beside that the story was good. <<less

Love love love it!

There's plot! Actual, living, breathing plot! And characterization! Real characters with flaws and personal reasoning and growth. Not 2D templates. Even the cannon fodders have a bit of dimension.

The romance is correctly put second to surviving in a science defying new reality while protecting themselves from shady organizations and even shadier "transmigrators" while trying to lead "normal" lives. But it also not so distant as to be ambiguous. Truely a lovely balancing act.
This is going into my "BEST" list for sure.

You know when you're more than halfway through a novel and you check to see how many chapters are left just so you can try to get it over with?

That was me. I actually tried to pick it up again a few times but eh, the translation isn't so great and the pacing is a little all over the place.

There's a lot of action, but I found it really hard to see where the novel was going. Maybe one day I'll come back to it. Or I'll just read the... more>> spoilers somewhere. <<less

This story is very interesting and has a focus wider than "love overcomes all". The plot is original and the characters are believable. I admit that I read BL with no plot aside from the romance, but this is not one of those. In fact, "romance" is more of a minor tag than a major genre for this one.

For those who dislike BL/ML, consider a story you like. Now take away the [ogling women/face-slapping/generic feature]. Is it still good? If so, then it's a cut above average--that's how I feel... more>> about this story.

For those who enjoy or don't mind BL/ML, give this a try. I was so hooked by chapter 12 that I continued to MTL-read it up to chapter 50. The plot is still engaging and involves characters aside from the MC and love interest. 5/5 stars for characters, plot development, and no "damsel in distress"-type romance. <<less

Despite the story and character being intriguing, the translation is somewhat poorly cleaned up MTL. This isn't helped by the author's writing style that's tends to fly around different POV and poor use of prose that doesn't actually explain what's happening in enough detail to compensate for the MTL faults. The amount of effort it takes to understand what the heck is happening really is too much.

Considering the intricate plot that seems to be going on, I'm not sure I can stomach this much braincell melting action....

I love how skeptical the protagonist is.

It is great to see his suspicious nature, it does add depth. The story's way of recalling characters and develop them make me laugh sometimes because the image during the development is adorable. It can also be dark if you look at the context from another way, generally I like to look at it in a happier, comedy relief sense.

The way the author write and the words the translator use are amazing. I can imagine the entire occurrence with glee because the details being... more>> offer up are simply great.

I don't even know what can make the novel even better but from the look of it, it seem like that is possible with the current force of the story. It's cool to have the side character with their own ambition and two supposed-bad ass character not going head to head at the get go.

I like the fact that the pairing had been decided for us. I suppose it would be the only pairing for the protagonist, I really hope so. (Really really really hope so)

I found it ironic that the peeps who is trying to go against our protagonist is trying to be the protagonist in the story. (Did I get that right?) They seem like they are being the cause of harm and violent compare to our protagonist calm nature. How did our protagonist turn villainous anyway?? I'm pretty giddy for development but I think I am going to lay off this book for awhile until there is more chapter for me to binge read and satisfied myself with. Therefore I hope the translator keep up their good work and please don't give up on this book. C:

I would check up on this novel again later and update the review if novelupdates allow me to. Idk I haven't done it before, so we will see. <<less

I agree with flying Jade...i really want to f*cking cry. the plot sounds so interesting and the fact that there's superpowers and transmigration and plot reversal wrapped into one? yeah sign me tf up. I was so excited to read it.

then I got to the 23rd chapter and I almost threw my phone. it's unbearably painful to try and read through this. I understand it's mtl, but it doesn't even feel like there was an attempt to edit this. the transitioning from one movement to the next is like a... more>> glitching minecraft server. one minute they're by the door and the next they've teleported to the car. and don't get me started on how confusing the actions are. it's so jumpy and confusing how they go from one action to suddenly a whole fight breaks out or whatever I don't I can't get through it. and I really really tried.

the translation was okay at first, but somewhere around the 17th or 20th chapter it just progressively became more and more confusing to get though. which really really sucks. I'm left with so many questions and concerns and now I'll probably never be able to get the answer or resolve them because reading through this is like pulling out teeth for me. it's very painful. <<less

This novel was surprisingly amazing. As in, it's been a while since I've read a light novel with such an intense and interesting plot. I feel like the plot and world building and setting was quite unique and gripping, and since I enjoy spoilers I definitely liked following along the summaries while reading the story itself.

Even though the romance probably isn't as sweet or cavity-inducing as in the previous BL or romance stories I've read recently, it's still quite endearing and adorable. Not too much is known about the MC's... more>> background (at all), but he is shown as a pretty gray character, just wanting to live a simple and comfortable life. Actually it seems like the MC and ML had opposing starting points, and are now flipped (from MTL, seems like MC came from a rich family but was orphaned (?), and ML came from a poor family but is now obviously rich and famous). The MC has a pretty cold and emotionless personality, but he does have high IQ and EQ (as does the ML), which makes the romance and interactions between the two enjoyable rather than frustrating. They are both quite smart people, so even when they later earn their powers, they are able to work together quickly and carefully to survive. Of course, the ML is the light to the MC's darkness, shown in many different ways. He seems to be pretty much a perfect human. Enough said.

Honestly, the setting of the story as a book kind of reminded me of TRAP, and made me question whether all their fates were decided, given how much everything seemed to be influenced by the book. While the villains didn't die in the end, it seems like interpersonal relationships and events (the MC and ML being together, certain inventions, etc.) did occur. Free will, or fate? A quite intriguing question, and the use of the transmigration trope in this way was quite interesting, and pretty reasonable from the transmigrator's point of view.

MTL was pretty easy to understand, thankfully. The novel definitely dragged me in, and while the MC and ML don't seem to be as OP as they are claimed to be (what's with all the monsters immune to them huh), they are still plenty powerful, especially the MC. Love their trust in each other, and love this story. Recommend. <<less

Forgive my slow loading brain cells.

Read for 14 chapters but I couldn't grasp anything except the MC was actually living in a book!

And about 'abilities' those characters talked about...

I read those chapters WITHOUT passion TT_TT

Just like when I read 300 pages of textbook. Such torture...

Naaahh I will read until the last chapter. So please keep translating this novel so that I can find a reason to change my review.

5 stars btw because of your hard work alone. Not because I like the story. You deserve it anyway

This is amazing so far. Enough so that I'm bummed I found it through the forum spoilers. I can only imagine how much better it would be not knowing anything.

But the abandoned world aspect is pretty cool. It feels like Stranger Things, with the empty, creeptastic dimension. No monsters yet, unless you count monstrous people. It really does make you think differently about transmigrators--and not in a good way. Droves of delusional people are treating the world like a novel. Killing, stealing, blowing sh*t up... it's like human lives are... more>> paper. All while hoping to get powers and change the plot. (Yet they're shocked when the plot changes?)

The writing and translating are so good. I've read sooooo many novels on this site of all genres. A good novel spawns a million knock-offs and they all start to feel old after a while. This is original and refreshing. It flips tropes in creative ways, making it a joy to read. (I'm sure eventually there will be a million copycats of this, too, considering how amazeballs it is.)

I love BL and have a feeling this is going to be a good one. It's plot-heavy in a twisty, cryptic way which gives me the feeling the relationship is going to be less a series of misunderstandings and more a steady rock where they're partners that support each other. Relationship drama as primary story conflict gets old after a while. So again, refreshing. Also good for the people who don't seek out BL because the story seems like it'll stand on its own beyond the romance.

Worldbuilding, characterization, plot... they're all strong. Writing and translating are strong. Can't really think of anything to deduct points for, honestly. READ THIS. For reals.

Reallllllly looking forward to where this goes. ^_^ <<less

There are many novels out there featuring transmigrators and giving their perspective as they are reborn in new worlds. This does the opposite: the MC is one of the book characters, and hoards of transmigrators have invaded his world. Being a transmigrator is definitely not always a good thing and often leads to trouble and despair. Not to mention, the family and friends of the original characters want the transmigrators to go back and return their loved ones to them. It's quite a refreshing take.

This is a sci-fi/horror/action series with... more>> a dash of BL thrown in halfway through the series. Even if you don't like BL and want to skip those scenes, you won't miss out on much. The world-building, plot development, and character development are all excellent. The MC's ability is hilarious, although it becomes terrifying later on, it's always great for a laugh. The setting is intriguing and described well. Although the transmigrators have knowledge of the original storyline, all of their actions have royally screwed things up, even for other transmigrators who are trying to predict what's going to happen next.

Spoiler

The Black Abyss begins based on what they have told the MC and ML about. They originally had no plans to create the organization but began it later to protect ability-holders who weren't connected to the government. They are overall good guys who protect their members, minimize damage to their surroundings, and avoiding killing or stealing other people. As far as we know, they've never even killed a human. In the books, they were this fearsome organization that fills everyone with dread, so the government, who knows the truth, will even threaten to send their prisoners to the Black Abyss for interrogation... Not knowing anything, those people spill the beans because they're terrified of the book's version of the Black Abyss. The leaders of the Black Abyss are good guys who generally protect the weak and only fight those who attack them first. Don't attack them, and they're pretty nice.

Instead of being enemies with the Chinese government, they actually work together and rely on each other quite a bit.

The book's protagonist has nothing but a gang of transmigrators around him trying to gain his favor and control him. Although a couple of people try to do that with the MC and ML, they're generally too chicken to try taking advantage of the "villains."

The monsters of the other world show up ahead of schedule and confuse all of the transmigrators' timelines.

I really tried to read this cause a lot of things seemed cool. However it is literally unreadable. I think the original prose was poorly written but the translation is horrible too. I am confused about the high ratings.

The story had good potential. It was interesting. As a reader, the first few chapters were quite abrupt as the story just starts without any setup. However, the flow of the story leaves a lot to be desired. The translation is just average and that doesn't help. The dialogue and plot is jumpy at times.

The MC and ML are quite one dimensional characters. The romance is ok. They get together quite early in the story and their interactions are sweet. Despite this, it's a... more>> dull read. This story failed to involve emotions. I couldn't be bothered about any characters. The interaction between people in the story is dry. Just meh.

Also there are a lot of loose ends. For me, the heroes of the story was the dog and the mushrooms. The mushrooms were so cute. They made me laugh. They refer to the ML as reserve grain. It was amusing to read their thoughts.

Overall, a story with potential that was a letdown. <<less

Besides the interesting writing and ideas behind the story, I am especially pleased with the romance here. It seems like one of the healthiest relationships I've ever read. The couple are fully equal and share mutual trust and respect in a very believable fashion. It's very much a slow burn, where the ML is patient and understanding about letting the MC come to term with his own feelings, while still trying his best to impress him. I really hope that the relationship stays in this healthy vein and that it will flourish.

Edit for chapter 121: I am pleased to say that the relationship is still healthy af, while being quite romantic at the same time. Gotta give mad respect to the ML for chapter 121. <<less

I'm still reading but why are the reviews for this so weird? Like people haven't read past chapter 5 and they're complaining about the author making things too obscure and when the author explains after 2 chapters, the author is telling too much and being repetitive? What?

One of the main genres is Mystery. Obviously you're not going to find out everything in the first 10 chapters, calm down. This story has 175 chapters, it's not going to get resolved immediately. It would suck if it did.

I've read up to chapter eleven, hoping this story gets a little more interesting, in the sense that it has more substance. Unfortunately, this story is highly ambiguous—I'm guessing it's because the author wants you to keep reading to find out the truth hidden in the story—but then the author info dumps like crazy, which I hate. Readers don't need information about certain things irrelevant in a story's plot: for example when the author wrote the background between Jian Hua and Luo Zhao. Why? It's not important, so don't write a flashback, and repeat your sentences about the same things. What's the point? Another time the author info dumped was in chapter eleven in Li Fei's point of view—he starts to think about the last film he starred in; that... more>> flashback doesn't matter in the story. It's a snooze fest. Many parts throughout the first ten chapters are inconsistent and not explained. The writer's style of writing can even be said to be redundant. Another detail I've noticed is how the author wants to make this story action-packed and suspenseful, but it turns out to feel the opposite. In my opinion, this story is lacking ingenuity, making me think this author is trying too hard to impress its readers. For now, I gave this story a rating of three because I haven't continued reading after chapter eleven, so who knows if it'll get better or worse. I'm one to give a story a chance, but so far—I think this story is bogus. <<less
