Incredibly sweet, it's a really cute story that had me in a death grip up until the end. MC's a little oblivious, your typical "gentle, silly sweet, shou" type but I like that he's also got backbone and self-confidence for when it matters. ML's very proactive, his wife chasing is both really sweet and fun. His devotion to MC as a fan is really touching as well. I like that the author had the whole variety show arc filmed before we got the netizen's reactions to the episodes. Be warned... more>> though if you don't like netizen commentary, there's a lot of it once the episodes start broadcasting; I love netizen commentary however so it was a plus for me. The e-sports in this wasn't very prominent, I think I would hash it out to about 60% variety show/main cp's romance and 40% e-sports with most of the story taking place during the variety show.

I don't know if this was due to reading fatigue, but the gaming portions were a bit confusing to me and thus my eyes glazed over at trying to make sense of what was happening in the game matches (though it's easy to get the very basic gist like "x kills y and x was very impressive"). Also MC is quite passive through the entire story, part of it is understandable and realistic but a lot of the story is just ML doing most of the work. ML's the one chasing, clearing up scandals/past grievances, trying to get MC back into the e-Sports circle, etc. I think it would have been nice if the story went deeper into MC's past or showed us his desire to still be an eSports player besides one small moment that ML basically points out to us.

Overall, it's a really sweet and light hearted novel about ML chasing MC and bringing him back into the world of eSports. I liked how for once the Golden Boy™ of the eSports circle wasn't some really cool, manly guy but a gentle boy whose really cute. While it could have gone deeper into some things and given us more depth about the past, it ended up focusing mostly on the lightheartedness. I don't think the main cp might be for everyone (ML does everything while MC is just accepts), but they make a cute couple. If you're tired and just looking for a cute story of one rich and powerful fan chasing his idol for both eSports and a relationship, this is a nice one that I really do recommend.

Wei Fengmian's ending had me wanting more though, damn him and his woe-is-me white lotus act! While it's a very reasonable ending and there's no need for dramatics, I wish I could have seen him and God Bee have one final talk.

I've read this novel in 2019 and I'm still rereading it every now and then, I really love the plot on how it connects the dating show to e-sports. As an E-sports lover + a dating show watcher I really enjoyed the novel!
