There was no place for an impostor who acted as a replacement for the sake of the graceful main character.

Evelyn spoke simply, attempting to disguise her dismay at the unexpected meeting.

“Young Master, it’s been a while.”

“…Young Master?”

“Addressing you as ‘Elder Brother’ might be–”

“I’m—”

It happened in a split second. Ethan approached her rapidly from a few feet away and stood nose-to-nose before her.

“That’s right. I’m not your elder brother.”

Burning emotions flared in his crystalline-clear eyes.

Evelyn winced when she noticed it.

“Even if we don’t see one another often, the fact that I’m your elder brother and you’re my sister will not change.”

He used to utter such things in a sweet voice, but everything changed, now that he knows they don’t have a single drop of blood in common.

The story is good. I can't understand people complaining about how depressing she is. It's totally understandable. She suffered in her past life and when she thought she had found a loving family, she realize her life is not her own and once again, she'd lose everything -the love she longed for so much-

When I read the synopsis that said, 'I choose to leave on my own two feet over experiencing a miserable death again!’, I wasn't hoping to see a highly functional mop doing its job diligently?

How to say, for someone who's aware of the possible outcome for whooping 6 years, she's sure hard to adapt. Lamenting at how miserable she is at every 3 sec, getting lost in even more hopeless speculations at every 2 sec and trying to forget everything at every sec... That's what I call a gamer move.

It's... more>> hard to get her, really. Have abandonment issues? If so, ditch them first before they do you. Don't want to get too attached? Then, like I said, just ditch 'em. Don't want a miserable death? Make reliable connections BEFORE you ditch 'em.

No matter how I look at it, ditching them is the best option, tf is she even doing?

1- Doesn't like the future, does nothing significant to change it.

2- Knows that she's not Duke's daughter and adamantly refuses his affection for years, but gives in to bro who has been there for a month at best.

To hell if I try to guess this ostrich's mind.

Anyway, the translation was good tho the story wasn't, 2 stars. <<less

Hopefully people will skip all of the reviews that just post negative thoughts about this story and actually consider the narrative. Because literally all the points those reviewers brought up were directly addressed in the story itself.

She doesn't moan and cry. She actually sits down and gets sh*t done.

And it was mentioned why her brother was able to get closer to her than their father: her brother was way more aggressive in his approach.

Finally from the beginning of the story I knew why she wasn't actively trying to change anything... more>> at that moment in time and immediately ditching the family:

For one she was born as this character. So she grew up with a loving father, unlike in her previous life.

For two you don't heal a broken leg by just saying you're healed so don't expect someone to heal another broken body part (the brain) by just saying they're healed.

I was pretty sure she had built up her reliable connections already and we learn that's exactly what happened in later chapters! And building those up take a lot of freaking time anyways.

I also knew novel's law was at work. Characters who don't understand the workings of novel's law are the ones that most irritate me. So if she tried to change too much she'd put herself in danger. Obviously. This leads us back to point 3 and another reason she couldn't just 'ditch' her family. Again obviously.

Nothing against the translation work, it’s the story itself that got to me and made me cringe.
the FL is so pessimistic, that, it seriously makes me question, why the author would put such a person as a FL?
I guess due to my personal preference, it does t feel like many readers will be captivated. Because she’s so f*cking depressing!!!
she had a bad past life, and now that she has an opportunity, instead of taking a hold of that chance, she f*cking mopes around, complaining and crying. Like, no self-esteem at all!!! She’s so depressing! She makes me feel like shit. FYI, I only made to the third chapter hahahah couldn’t even go beyond.

This is an emotional angst story. Great premise. Unfortunately, it starts to have a very circular soap opera plotline. I read up to halfway and thought it could be wrapped up, since the drama was already so repetitive and you learned everything you need to know to understand all the characters. So I skipped to the end, and was very glad I did. If you read the last 10% you get a sense that everything turned out like you expected. Lots of tears, "I love you, but sorry" and misunderstandings.... more>> They even throw in another country that seemed unnecessary to the plotline. It kinda ends with the couple you want, but no one is really happy about it. And I'm left with the thought that everyone needs therapy.

Still, don't regret reading 50%. Glad I skipped a big chunk for my sanity. <<less

I give the stars for the translators. Otherwise this wouldn't get any stars at all.

As other reviews have already mentioned, the FL is unbearable. Reading her POV is like sitting next to a crying toddler, at first you feel sympathetic, after about and hour of constant screaming, or in this case 20+ chapters of constant mopping, you loose all sympathy and just end up completely irritated. Her constant inner monologue of neediness gets old quite fast. And her completely idiotic methods of dealing with the situation just makes the story... more>> even worse. 22 chapters has been 22 too many. <<less

Like another reader said, a lot of the negative reviews are from people who gave up reading too early. I don't know about the person who has completed the story (albeit skipping half of it), but the earlier pessimism and sense of being trapped that the MC has is slowly explained in the more recently translated chapters. If you only read up to the point before the MC leaves her family (not a spoiler since heavily implied in the blurb), it's hard to understand her actions at all.

She tried everything she could to ease her family relationship and the transfer of responsibilities and power while not getting too close to avoid hurting herself when she had to leave. It is later revealed that major events in the Original novel assert themselves so strongly that they are completely and utterly unavoidable.

She made as many important contacts and escape routes as possible to secure for herself as much of a chance of living well as possible.

She tried multiple times to kill the main lead of the Original story. Each time, the Original asserted itself and caused backlash on her, making her realise it was impossible to intervene in the major story beats. Not knowing how her family would react, she decided instead that her plan would be to involve herself in the major events of the Original and use them in her favour instead so that she could secure her own life.

This story, in my opinion, is a really interesting look not into the MC herself and her actions, etc., but she is a lens through which the concept of "plot armour" is explored from a supporting character's point of view. <<less
