This story takes place in a strange world that’s not the earth as we know it. In this world, there are a few so-called tr*sh Skills that are looked down on.

Our protagonist is an eight-year-old girl who lives on her own named Marron, who discovers that there is a way to make the horribly disgusting tr*sh Skill Fruit actually taste good.

While nobody else would even think of eating a tr*sh Skill Fruit, Marron – her discovery in hand – kept on eating them, until her ‘useless’ tr*sh Skills became something incredible.

All the while, she’s yanked around by a fairy with a superiority complex named Alto and a problematic Japanese boy named Tarō who’s transported to her world.

Despite that, Marron’s a girl who likes to go at her own pace. This is her adventure!

Not that great, but I will still be reading it.

The story has not moved much in these first chapters, with the large majority spent worldbuilding through what are, for the majority, exposition dumps.

There are some cool concepts, I have to admit.

... more>> The weakest part are the characters.

Like, we still know nothing of the protagonist and her personality/story. The japanese teenager who just got isekai'ed has had more screentime than her and he is so unbelievably annoying to read.

I have nothing negative to say about the translation.

I will give this novel a few more chapters to drag me in.

There are two glaring issues with this novel. The author does a lot of info dumping at the early chapters but they're interesting so it doesn't feel like a chore to read them. Although it does make the pacing of the story quite slow. The world building while interesting doesn't actually move the plot and after a while the story kind of becomes stale. If this was the only problem it would still be a light novel worth reading (at least for a few more chapters), but unfortunately, it's not.

Which... more>> leads us to the second problem. The character Taro sucks. He's incredibly annoying and ignorant. If I had to guess, the author wanted to give us more background on their world and are using him as the tool to get that accomplished. He does so many s*upid things and the in-universe explanation is that he doesn't know any better since he's from Japan. However that doesn't make him any less annoying.

This story has so much potential but I don't think it's worth reading. <<less

The basis for the story is decent for the genre. The translation seems pretty darn good as well. I also have few issues with the MC. It also seems to be doing a decent amount of world building, even if they front-loaded it a bit too much.

The setting is a bit... dark. Apparently regularly killing others is not seen as a big deal in this world, even in a backwater nowhere that doesn't even have money for taxes.

The main male character on the other hand is COMPLETELY insufferable. Take the... more>> worst stereotype of self-important nerd obsessed with games who does not want to listen to ANYONE else. Then make it twice as bad and make sure he yells EVERYTHING at the top of his lungs and you have this idiot. I dropped the story at this chapter because I could not stand to read any more of his crap.

He even got told that mentioning levels is likely to get you killed, and the next FOUR sentences out of his mouth are all yelling questions about levels. He also constantly interrupts and tries to ignore when anyone tries to give him information/advice, ESPECIALLY if said advice contradicts his game/anime knowledge or what he WANTS to be true.

I honestly can't recommend the story because this character is such a major part of it. It would be bearable if he was a side character showing up for a chapter or two, but he has more focus that the supposed main character so far. And from the synopsis it is likely that he will be around for the whole story, and a similarly annoying character will be added soon. <<less
