Shiori Sugimura was just a normal second year high school student when her world shattered when she remembered her past life. In her previous life she was a serious Yuri Otaku, and with that knowledge she also realized that the world she has been living in is the Yuri game “Fragmented Rhapsody”. It was a game that she enjoyed dearly in her previous life, and now she is a sub-Heroine.

This wasn’t good news, she doesn’t want to get involved with the protagonist and simply wants to keep her peaceful life. However that can’t last, she chose to give up that dream, and protect with all her might Sara Fujioka, her favorite heroine and a character that is killed by a love rival in the bad ending!

Yanderes are scary, and the characters in the world don’t act like they should. The scenarios are changing and the world is different than before, but she will still do her best to protect her fan favorite.

This is a sweet and charming story with narrow worldbuilding. The drama starts off light and slowly builds subtext, anxiety, and foreshadowing. One of the highlights is how the yuri-fan protagonist often compares her expectations about romances to how realistic people feel and act. Shiori the MC has been shaped by a previous lifetime she entirely built around her obsession with yuri content, and in both lives she has isolated herself from others. Now Shiori is in a world where she can aid and pamper Sara, her favorite character, but... more>> she herself can no longer stay so isolated. Interactions between Shiori and Sara are healing, mostly wholesome fun. The secondary characters have interesting inner lives. Shiori never seriously considered a gay relationship to be possible for herself despite blatantly flirting with and growing closer to her dream-girl. I have a difficult time believing the MC wasn't gay pre-transmigration, and maybe willfully ignorant that she could be attracted to women IRL. Seriously, the thing she's the most airheaded about is what she has been obsessed with for decades? It doesn't seem very self-aware for a yuri fanatic who even thirsts over 3d (live-action?) works to be so adamant she can't be attracted to real women she knows. At least in this life and probably both, Shiori sure is talented at denying what might make her vulnerable.

Spoiler

[Confused gay sounds]! Love to see it. Shiori respects Sara, and she doesn't creep on her like stereotypical protagonists. She balances legitimate respect with her own obsessiveness and one-sided emotional dependency.

Keep up the good translation, Mamuni! <<less

Oh man. Oh man, oh man, oh man. This whole webnovel is full of typical romance tropes played out so well and I! Love! It! Everyone is so cute and I spent a week losing sleep trying to read the novel. Probably the worst thing about this is discovering that it's incomplete, which I hadn't realized until I hit the chapter they released on 4.20.22. Very sweet, brings out all the plot points with good pacing, and I love the way we have shifting POVs to see all the characters.

God. Sara is such a good character, especially when we get to her POV /// and I just hope that Shiori finally gets some more self-confidence to accept her feelings.

Also, surprisingly! I really love Koharu? They bring so many good points of her that I love, like her sharp tongue! It was literally so depressing to see her side of the story, and she deserves so much better. She's so complex, and you can see why she's the main heroine in the OG game.

And yeah, the MC Aoi is goddamn terrifying. Somehow despite being an innocent character, the author somehow frames her into one of the scariest and worst people in the novel. Props to them honestly. Hurtful to Koharu, stalkerish to Shiori, and we won't even begin talking about what happens to Sara.

I can't wait to see what happens next!!! The author is really good at making characters, seriously. <<less

A really cute love story with charming characters. I really don't hate anybody. One of my favorite things this story does is talk about certain romance cliches and how nice yet problematic they are. There is a lot of stuff like kissing someone when they are asleep or the kabedon that seem sweet in a manga but are actually terrifying and practically assault if someone were to do it in real life. Then again, if someone you actually like does it to you, it is hot. So they do well... more>> in talking about the appropriate distance in romance. It is also an interesting mystery because it provides stock personalities for all the characters right off the bat, and slowly you find out why they are the way they are.

Spoiler

It is honestly heartbreaking reading about the yandere's story and just how much she was pushed to get to the point she is in.

I NEVER MAKE REVIEWS like NEVER but this story I just can’t get it out of my heart it makes me feel so tingly and in my throat it’s all giggly! This story is so amazingly put together and I read a lot of books but this one by far made me feel such heartwarming and funny feeling! Honestly it’s a pity this couldn’t be turned into a manga but I’m also glad that the author took time to construct such a lovely novel! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS! Like seriously,... more>> I lost sleep because I binged read this all in 1 day! It’s so cute I love Sara and Shiori. If I could leave a voice message I would be screeching from fangirling so much! I love LOVE this novel!!! This review seems childish but really I felt like I can relate to the characters. The concept of how love is viewed greatly rewrote what I thought love was! Since I’m the same age as the novel characters it made it even more relatable!!! I can go on about this novel but this review already seems too long. So I hope you really consider reading this and leaving a review too! <<less

It's a fun and cute story with some surprisingly decent writing. The side cast is distinct and well developed and I find myself surprisingly fond of the OG yandere character, Koharu. I normally hate yanderes, but she's put into a rather sympathetic position and instead you find yourself increasingly alarmed by Aoi, the game's protagonist. While Koharu has a bit of a mean mouth and really just needs someone who understands, Aoi is like some kind of freaky monolithic figure even when all she's done is be a little insensitive.... more>> The worst you can say about her is that she doesn't always take good care of her friends and that she has trouble recognizing when someone is just not interested, yet there's this kind of weird creepiness to her that comes as a result of how simple she is. <<less

The novel is an excellent example of how a chapter can break or make a story. To understand why that is the case let me explain the released chapters for a bit. The story mainly focuses on how Shiori tries to save Sara from a bad end while gradually falling in love with her, the norm for a yuri otome game story.

Spoiler

Most of the early chapters revolve around Shiori trying to prevent Aoi the game's MC to meet Sara and then her avoiding Aoi to trigger her own flags. This backfires because Aoi gets interested for that exact reason. She gets the yandere Koharu's and around chapter 70 they finally talk about how Shiori is not interested in Aoi because she already loves Sara. First Koharu is quite hostile towards Shiori and by the second time, Aoi has already fallen in love with her so Koharu gives up on capturing her own childhood friend. Shiori and Koharu became sort of friends through this. Aoi confesses to Shiori and she properly rejects her but the girl is such a "positivity zombie" that she is not deterred by the rejection and swears to try again. To combat this Shiori goes for some healing to Sara and she has the idea to pretend to be lovers so that Aoi will give up on Shiori and they accidentally kiss. This is where the author makes a huge shift in perspective and we see how Sara realized she was in love with Shiori. We see her trying to figure out what the feeling of love truly is. We get back to the accidental kiss scene where Sara confesses her love to Shiori. This is where the author pulled the JP WN card of f*ck finally hearing your crush saying she loves you and jumping into their arms and kissing their final breath out of them instead Shiori just acknowledges and leaves leaving Sara crying and swearing to herself to not bother Shiori ever again.

[collapse]

To those who have not read what was in the spoiler the story is good in and of itself. The author just created a huge plot hole that went against everything that we knew about Shiori. Still, I recommend reading it until chapter 90 because that last one just ruins it for me. <<less

This was so good! It has everything I want in a yuri romance and more! My only complaint is that my heart hurt and I cried a lot, but I think that's intended. If you love a character enough to cry when they're in pain, it proves it's well-written, right?

Also, there was a twist I was half-expecting, but thankfully it didn't happen (yet?).

I like the drama of this story presented. It is a slow burn romance so the pacing (for me) is good I guess?

I don't have anything to say....

The story is good....

The character is loveable (for me)

It doesn't need you to think too much.

Perfect if you just want love story of girl between girl.

For the past months this was my favorite light novel that was being regularly translated. Although the premise was nothing out of this world, I was happy enough having characters that felt very real in their insecurities and flaws. Like Shiori for example. Way too much of a coward from having years more experience being alive than the high school girls she's now around.

It was very satisfying to experience them growing and maturing as their feelings grow stronger day by day. Only have one complaint about the story in that:... more>>

I wish there was more of Shiori and Sara being together, like going on dates and seeing what their dynamic would be like as a newly minted couple, not just them getting together and the story ending there

Overall, it was very exciting! Felt like experiencing a highschool romance all over again <<less
