What to say - it is an amazing story.

It isn't big on action and as far as romance is concerned it is practically nonexistent.

Where it shines is its character development and setting. Our high elf protagonist takes his time with things he does and the things he does are interesting. His perspective is that of someone who can casually alot some 30 years on a hobby, yet he moves in a world that rapidly changes. This novel brings in complicated feelings from me.

I do agree that the writer style is good and idea of showing the life of long living species is great, but outside of this I don't understand why I should read this novel any longer. There is no one who develop with the MC. The description of MC previous world and any attempts to use this knowledge to develop something are nonexistent at point where I've read.

This novel may be interesting for someone, but it is completely useless. Or at least I... more>> can't find any meaning in it. It is good, but it doesn't show how to communicate, or differences in culture, or differences in world view, or economics, or intrigue. And thou my demands for novels might be a little bit too much for writers to meet... there is no character developed enough for you to see them as something more than background for MC.

So:

• if you want a laid back story written in good language - read this novel, you will love it. I mean it;
• if you want to get something useful from this novel - try finding another.

There must be many kind novels out there, and I find this one quite enjoyable.

The plot and style encases in the traveling novel genre, where our MC narrates memories in present tense. His time perspective doesn't make fun of the lives of short-lived humans but at the contrary the protagonists involves intimately with them.

The translation and edition is quite nice and careful and the reading is very pleasing.
