I told you I’m not 〇〇!! ~When I helped out the most beautiful girl in my class, my identity got found out~

I, Hiura Seiya aim to live like a mob.

How much of a mob I want to be? The grade will affect my future so I am doing my best on that but I came to school early so that no one would notice me and keep my head buried in the book so that I can blend into the background! I only have one friend in my class! it might be bad for me to say this but the guy I talk to is not a handsome guy or anything, he’s just a single frame in the classroom……..I have been living such a plain life like that but I actually have a secret, I am in a modelling business.

My daily life began to crumble one day when I am heading back home from work and saved Ehashi Reika, a girl in my class who was being hit on in the street.

[What are you reading?],

[Want to head home together?].

Was I found out? At school, my face is always being hidden by my bangs so there shouldn’t be any trace that links me to my original appearance, how did she know? At this rate I will change class from a mob into an annoying guy instead!

[No, you must have confused me with someone else].

A story of a sneaky boy eluding a girl……at least he intends to.

There's a problem here. From the title, you would think that there would be a nice buildup of "when is he gonna admit it/ get found out? And when it does it's gonna be awesome!"But you never get that feeling.

There's no attachment to the characters, the female lead is really dumb and pushy, the male best friend isn't a good wingman/ comic relief. After all the character introduction all you get is some meh slice of life where the main character makes friends as his mob self. (Which is supposed... more>> to happen after the big reveal, not before)

They could have just revealed his true self from the beginning and the story would be basically the same.

If you are looking forward to some big reveal, I wouldn't recommend this novel. If you want some decent slice of life with a mob character MC, go for it. <<less

It's a serviceable novel that is good to read if you are bored. So far, there is 0 romance, the MC's interesting point only got to shine in one chapter (so we don't see the contrast of his mob personality vs his ikemen personality), the author spends half of each chapter monologuing about something totally unrelated to the actual plot.

There is a reason why the translator only does once a week chapters, even though they are so short.

You should know by now what type if novel you'll be reading if you got here. Comedy, romance and slice of life. Reading this few chapters the novel did deliver what you'll be expecting from these genres. Altough for me, the most important aspect of reading these kind of novels is the MC. How much thought-process there is behind his character? How likeable or relatable his personality is? How does he stand-out from the rest? Well, I can say that he is definitely not your standard or arbsurdly dense MC.... more>> He's quite aware of his surroundings but at the same time, lives in his own world. He has quite a few goals he had given himself too. Atleast for me, that's how I built him in my mind from reading a little of this novel. For a jp web novel, this is easily a 9/10 MC and a 10/10 enjoyment. <<less

I have to agree with user/Sword Drake. The FL is very pushy when it comes to making MC admit his Stage Name even though he continuously denies it. She’s also persistent in following MC, the latter even shows signs of not wanting her to follow him.

Basically she puts MC in an awkward situation in school (Ever heard about that Chinese guy who proposed to a girl in public and got shot down? About how he drew too much unwanted attention to the girl? Romantic, right?)

In conclusion, If you’ve... more>> read novels where characters are detailed and realistic (those Korean novels and some JP ones where the characters have the ability to read the mood and know how not to be pushy and rude,....), it.... will be fun at first, but then the FL will gradually become unrealistic. So this won’t be good for you

You’re a fan of the Drama gerne? Say no more: we have the community where the best girl position changes after a single chapter! And that’s after 40-ish chapters of her being offscreen

Ok so I gave this series a 5, but honestly just like this translators other work, dull prince, I believe its only worth a 4. The reason I did that is because I just like it. Yeah its not a masterpiece and god knows the chapters are short and the story moves slower than my grandma, but here I am still reading it. Its main charm is that the MC is secretly this popular model which is a breath of fresh air in the sea of average looking protagonist that... more>> somehow get all the hot chicks in school. The story is really all about his daily life and his interactions with his friends. Though he is super dense, I find the idea of him secretly a model so intresting that it just keeps me reading every week. Also the other characters are very fascinating anf their interactions feel natural in a way. It actually feels like how normal highschoolers interact. And given how I started reading this just as I was finishing highschool it really made me remember all the fun times I had. I mean I was the type that almost never studied, but still had very good grades so I just had fun with my friends all the time. Though given how im also a girlfriendless, jobless loser that goes to college and lives with his parents... well yeah remembering the good old days is something that id be intrested in.

So in conclusion if you are intrested in a series about a mob character actually being a handsome model and following his everyday life or if you are somewhat nostalgic about your highschool life and want to remember the gppd old days of just hanging out with your friends then this one should be a good read. Just dont expect a masterpiece. <<less

The initial premise of the story could've been interesting: the MC living a unnoticeable life to prevent anyone from realizing he's actually one of the top trending models at school, and how he would deal with the one person who accidentally finds out about it.

Except nothing happens. He denies being the model, while she isn't convinced, and that's literally just it. There is no sense of urgency about hiding his identity at all. Each chapter de-evolves into very stereotypical slice-of-life scenes, and then it reaches a point where ... more>>

he's like, yeah I'll just tell everyone about identity and that's that.

If you don't like dense protagonists, you can skip this novel.

Otherwise it has been very entertaining and I am sad that it is in hiatus.

It's a combination of the typical "dense protagonist with low self-esteem who doesn't notice it when girls like him" archetype and the "quiet type in class and flashy alternate life outside duality".

The plot can move somewhat slowly at times, and especially in the first arc, some chapters mainly consist of inner monologue about RPG equivalents of a school caste system that the MC assigns in his... more>> head, which of course turns out to be much less rigid than he imagined.

Both in that regard and the fact that characters don't act extremely s*upid for plot convenience, this novel is written rather well. I always find it strange when people try to write regular schools as fully-fledged dystopias, but this isn't the case here.

Other than that, it feels like I've enjoyed it quite a bit more than the average reviewer or even commenter on the TL's site, and I actually saw some potential for the story to continue as well, but I suppose that is a matter of taste. For my personal taste, I don't see a reason to deduct any stars. <<less

i thought from the beginning it was dull and lack luster I thought when I read more it would change my perspective it seems I was wrong it was just garbage from the very start. O yhea lets just say the author is focusing of the MC's mindless monologue for 80% of each chapter its s*upid

It's a good read. The MC is smart but dense and each chapter is quite short and only took me few hours of read to reach 50ch. If you love decent slice of life that will not make you feel "The MC is so annoying and dumb as if he has no common sense" something like that, then you'll like this.

The author forgets pretty quickly all of the initial tropes that are moderately interesting and instead focuses on mindless monologues and trivial conversations that don't offer much character development or just tiny bits of information about their personalities and lives. There is some, it's just that it doesn't feel substantial enough; it's very unlike most romcoms of this kind.

Not the worst but definitely only good to kill a couple of hours.

Honestly, this novel probably deserves 4 stars, but since I have a personal dislike of Love Triangles/Harems in Slice of Life works, I gave it a 3 star review.

I can't in good consciousness recommend this to someone though, since it been on hiatus for a few years now and ends without resolving anything.

Also, the main heroine is not particularly likeable and gets outshined by the sub heroine, who didn't have any screen time for ~40 chapters, in a single chapter.

Spoiler

Though, admittedly she (sub heroine) also has a giant flaw, as kissing someone who isn't in a relationship with you and doesn't even view you romantically is definitely a case of s*xual harassment. HR needs to have a serious talk with this girl.

Yeah, now that I'm finishing this review, maybe 3 stars were appropriate after all. <<less

It starts pretty interestingly and it is a nice twist from the usual loner mob with nothing interesting going on sort of novels. But the arcs feel a bit too boring honestly and the characters aren't really developed well. The story feels a bit rushed and full of boring dialogue that doesn't contribute to the plot. It isn't a bad novel and if you are just looking for a way to kill time, then by all means read this. But if you are going into this with high expectations, then... more>> it would be better off dropping them or just reading another novel. <<less
