They were all characters doomed to die.

Out of all the suffering they were destined for, I lightened their burden. Just a little.

Fate cannot be changed. It is iron clad and set into stone. It will happen no matter what.

But there is destiny. Which is basically all the options that fate can be fulfilled in.

You must die. But there's a difference in dying alone, or dying with loved ones.

You must die, but there's a difference between dying and achieving nothing and dying but achieving something.

All things end, but how they end is up to you. Basically this novel is about fulfilling fate on your own terms.

Amor Fati, Memento Mori.

I don't understand why this has such a low rating. It has a strong start, coupled with the translation quality bringing it justice, it's easy to get hooked from the get go, even with so few chapters available.

Fate is a thread where each and everyone tread on. It is predetermined and cannot be changed, nor escaped from. It must happen and it will happen, as that is how it should be and would be. If the red thread of fate is weaved into something, so too, are the future of... more>> those who tread on it. However, who would accept such thing if the people you treasure are subjected to such a cruel fate that only ends in death after suffering? Simple. Take fate into your own hands and weave it into something completely new. Still, if fate cannot be changed, must happen, and will happen, how will you be able to know that your precious ones really has escaped fate's grasps? If you can't weave their fate freely, then be the one who intertwines with their thread to bring about a future you're able to control. If their fate necessitates an adversary - be their adversary. If their fate necessitates a loss, then be the one who takes from them. If their fate necessitates their death or the one who's fate is entangled with them... Then be the one who dies. However, doing so doesn't change the essence of their fate and what you're doing is the same as breaking them, your precious ones. If all else leads to something undesirable, then there's only one answer. BE THE SOLE SACRIFICE, THE ONLY ONE TO BEAR SCARS, A MARTYR TO THEIR FATE - while they, themselves, remain in an illusion - a story - that you, yourself fabricated. Only then, when they reach the final threads of their fate, waiting for it to be cut, would it be possible for their fate to show countless possibilities and branch into multiple different futures. Only then would you be able to say that the thread of fate made it's course, and now, it's time for them to take their fate into their own hands, ultimately giving them salvation while you yourself, is a broken wreck.

At least that's what the premise is pointing out into. The MC is a kind soul, not a pure one, but one who will do whatever it takes to save the people he cherish, while not compromising his way of dealing with them of ensuring that they would find happiness after all is said and done.

When fate itself is your adversary, and the people you cherish considers you as their enemy, how will you save them from their predetermined end, when even the ways you could do so is limited to something that would ensure that the amount of suffering you could subject them into is non-existent at best and minimal at least as that is how you want it to be. Quite greedy but It's intriguing how the MC would play it out. <<less

The idea is potentially interesting, but not executed in a convincing way. Fate doesn't work this way, even in a horror movie.

Spoiler

The protagonist says, each character has an archenemy who will inevitably lead that character to death. So he takes the place of that archenemy and basically turns the game difficulty down to the minimum. Sounds good, right?

But the backstory shown so far, he met one of the characters at least before her story started. In other words, he could have simply... Prevented the fate altogether. A story has a beginning and an end. If it can't start, it can't lead her to death. For the example the author gives, the hero must kill the demon king, but if the demon king doesn't come into existence the hero is not born. The person just lives an ordinary life.

So the protagonist could have simply and easily saved at least one person, from what I've seen, and chose to become Joker instead.

[collapse]

I'm usually more lenient about weak logic, but the author is trying to sell me on a novel where the protagonist has made everyone he cares about very unhappy, and promises to keep doing so. Do a better job convincing me this is necessary. <<less
