I am Everiel Solgren.
I died at the age of fourteen along with the fall of my lineage, in the hands of the emperor.

“I’m weally…”

I thought I was dead. But when I opened my eyes, I found myself back on my fifth birthday nine years ago.

“Am I seriously five years old now?”

Momentary confusion amidst the inexplicable regression. If things go as planned, Solgren will perish once again, and so will I.
To avoid that dreadful fate, I must bolster my father’s, Duke Herwin Solgren’s, influence to resist against the emperor.
Yeah. If Dad protects me, I’ll be fine! That’s all there is to it… except for one little problem.

“Cough, cough…!”

My dad is too frail.
What should I do?

Herwin silently drew his sword. The blood dripping from the blade belonged to the assassins scattered in the corridor.

“Sloppy.”
“I suppose this will suffice.”

As rumored, Herwin was ‘known’ to be frail. A sickly northern duke so weak he couldn’t even leave his bed, let alone his chamber. But contrary to gossip, Herwin was strong. Overwhelmingly so, capable of facing multiple assailants alone without even breaking a sweat.

“Clean it up without a fuss. Make sure my child doesn’t wake up.”

To be honest, I didn't have many expectations when I first came across this novel. I was only intrigued by its second cover and its high rating. The beginning was decent, and I was curious about the FL's cousin.

She said he was supposed to hate and disgusted at her and then he suddenly acted desperate to save her. Another confusing statement was that he said that he didn't actually hate her. Was this some kind of "I actually like you but you'll be in danger if people know I like you so I'll pretend I hate you even if it hurts me" trope?

After that it was decent but kind of — plain, I guess? The usual regression trope where the FL tried hard to protect those she loved and being praised as genius by others on the way? Though in this story there was some kind of justification since it was said that her father and maternal grandfather were also geniuses.

Then suddenly, when you reached the middle part — BOOM!! I was like — what the heck? How did you make this simple and clichéd trope easy to read yet not losing the curiosity at the same time? It was subtly Mary Suish, yes. But at least the FL truly struggled to reach the place she was on now.

As for the ML, he was,

After reading his backstory, I'm kinda sympathetic with him. He had gone through a very, very hard days. And it was truly amazing that he was still able to control himself and not falling into the darkness of humanity. Although I kinda predicted it at first, but the ML was truly her "fake" cousin.

He was jealous of FL's escort, yes. And sometimes he also felt depressed and inferior because of his true identity, but he didn't dwell on it for too long because he knew that he still had something he could struggle for, that was to stay by the FL's side. He didn't get swayed by others' words and even gave the FL his own heart (a stone imprinted with his own life) knowing that he can also die if the stone accidentally fell and shattered!

Although he got angry when FL did reckless things, but in the end he couldn't do it and took care of her in silence. Good Lord, among all the MLs in the novels I read, I dare say that this ML — is one of the best and greenest flag ever!

All in all, I enjoyed reading this when relaxing as it didn't require me to use my brain too much. If only there was side stories, perhaps I could give it 10 stars. <<less
