An enjoyable read. It doesn't have the same punch as ICDS or EER, or the weirdly compelling sociopathy of SFF, but it has the same fun dialogue you expect from a Toika work.

This was absolutely amazing. Great story till the end. Only problem with it is that they could’ve spent a few chapters on the conclusion to flesh out all the characters endings Instead of MC and family only.

It's your typical harem where all the females get on the MC.

Characters 3/10 : I have some problems with the female characters, some of them just fall in love with the MC for very little to no reason and accept everything he says as an absolute and don't argue, don't disagree, or doubt him at all so they are basically a harem of yes-women. I'm glad that the 2 male characters other than the MC that "exists" at least bounced off the MC well but that's it. Every character that... more>> is female just immediately falls in love with him and is part of the harem without fail. No depth from most of the girls except for "I love you Artpe and I will do anything for you".

Story 5/10 : The story was good with the mystery and some of the fights were pretty interesting on how they got out of some situations.

Spoiler

I kept wanting more male characters but it never stepped off the ground of "Every female will f*ck the MC because he's the MC" and it pissed me off. I like the way the author did the mystery for the Demons.

MC ending with all the girls and having children with all of them and not telling us what happened with the other characters made me bitter after reading all the chapters in 3 days. Ending felt super rushed but hey the start of the novel was pretty good. It got boring around the part Regina came in.

For the most part, this novel was fantastic. Time skips are often, where the first dungeon the MC and main love interest goes into takes them a year. You suddenly see 6 months or so pass in one sentence,

OP MC with all the women falling for him was standard in this genre.
Spoiler

However, the worst was the time skip of 20 years at the end where only main love interest, MC and all the kids talk while the other partners are nowhere to be found. The author just says who has how many kids with the MC. The end twist/ last 2 sentences were great though and explains why MC got reincarnated btw.

[collapse]

The last 20 or so chapters feel really rushed, especially the last boss fight.

An interesting story. The pacing was done well to reach the conclusive point of the novel without feeling off putting at any point.

Your normal japanese isekai/reincarnation story, it's nice, if you like that kind of genre, I kinda do... so, I had a great time reading it.

But yeah, it doesn't have mindblowing plot, well, it is not really that generic, it has his own things, but whatever that's how it's the genre, if you are down for some isekai/reincarnation story a la japanese but with no male princess MC but more "normal" MC, it's a nice reading.

Also, after reading Everyone is a Returnee I kinda see the main Angel girl from there... more>> in the main hero girl here, they act like the same person sometimes lulul <<less

This novel, I Reincarnated for Nothing, is a comedy centered jack-of-all-trades kind of novel. It doesn't excel at anything (action, comedy, romance, etc), but does all of them "adequately", somehow giving it its own charm. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading light novels and isn't looking for any depth or exceptional-ity.

Overall score: 3.9/5

Pretty entertaining. For me it's a 3.5 but the site does not let me input that score.

Good if you like/expect some of the following:

  • Reincarnation
  • RPG elements like levels, skills, stats, etc.
  • OP protagonist
  • Harem
  • Cautious protagonist (plans ahead as much as possible and most things go as planned)
  • Cute, useful, somewhat OP pet/beast companion
Not recommended if you expect/need something like:

  • Amazing plot
  • Great character development (there is some character development but not much)
  • Great and detailed fights
It is not an amazing story, as usual there is a lot to dislike if you are picky. At the... more>> end of the day my recommendation for you to read this novel depends on, do you want something entertaining and passable? Yes you can read this, do you want a great story that you would remember fondly for years? This is not it.

So its not a great story, a little above average at best but it is enjoyable and the characters are likeable and most importantly it is not 2000 chapters long full of dumb stuff. <<less

It's not a bad light novel. Pretty typical of the Isekai genre, though the protagonists isn't from Earth. Just starts over as a human instead of a demon, retaining his knowledge from before.

The trouble I have with harem stories is that they just keep introducing, more and more women that want to be with the protagonist and it jumbles the plot. This one keeps it fairly concise, though it's not exactly perfect. The author seems to have trouble properly developing side characters. And the ending was kinda weak. It was... more>> both too long and too short. Like it was rushed but had to be padded for length. Then the epilogue was way too short. Glossed over a lot of things. Left a lot of questions.

But the action scenes are written pretty well, and unforseen events are introduced in more or less organic ways. The protagonist is pretty typical of the cunning 'genius' archetype you see a lot in these sorts of stories. So if that's your thing, this story has it. I personally like it so I enjoyed it, I just wish some of the conflict he came across was a little more challenging with a little better pay off. But no complaints otherwise. <<less

Artpe is probably the most heroic MC I've seen Toika actually write in that he's genuinely trying to do the right thing even if he's kind of a jerk about it. The downside is that the female lead in the prologue is about ten times more interesting than the girl we actually ended up with and she wasn't that interesting there to begin with. The rest of the cast has that other tendency of Toika's characters in that every single one of them slowly morphs into a tsukkomi for the... more>> MC while craving his d*ck at the same time, which gets tiresome. As such, naturally the most interesting characters are all side characters who only have to fawn over him half the time instead of all the time.

Halfway through the story and so far it's good enough to keep going but not enough to really impress. I'm hoping we'll get some good payoff when Etna reenters the story and we find out the ~sudden twist~ that the demon king Artpe knows is only the first heavenly king while the actual demon king is, I don't know, a demonic wallaby or something. <<less

I've just picked this novel up, the concept is fine in my opinion, but unexpectedly I got a drawback by how bad the translation of the first chapter was (frustrating). I'll keep updating this review while following this novel

Beginning is pretty rough, especially with how they get wrapped up in a dungeon for a huge amount of time right away. But the farther in you get the more fun the novel gets. Also I LOVE how the demon king is referred to throughout the novel as a Chef due to his habits of growing and "cooking" his enemies until they are perfect for eating.

MC is a bit annoying with how his special skill tells him freaking everything if he looks for it and it feels like the author... more>> uses this as a crutch sometimes, but he's not all knowing and can oversight things which is nice at least. Also he kept all his knowledge from his past life, which is a bit irritating at first, but things begin to diverge from what he knows in interesting ways.

Hero is a simple ret*rd and is ultra naive that is super powerful in melee, MC completes her in that he's cynical and world wise and super powerful in magic. I think it works out pretty good really. <<less

As of chapter 26, the novel is funny, light and gives the reader all gratifications they would want from Reincarnation/game-like/op plots. The author seems to be intelligent and love sarcasm.

A good novel with good comedy side and without any major downsides.

Harem is present in tolerable amounts and is not excessive (Atleast currently MC is in denial).

Nothing much else to say, this is basically your usual "weak to strong with game system" - annoying parts + comedy.
