Please use proper spacing and paragraphs. In Ruyi Jiaoqie, the heir to the title, Xie Yunzhi, is known for his bravery and battle prowess. He is a handsome, bold young man who has spent years riding through the battlefield, unstoppable by anyone. Unfortunately, he is merely a supporting character, disappearing on the battlefield from the very beginning of the story, leaving behind three adopted sons.
Xu Qingyi discovers that she has transmigrated into a role as the contrast to the beloved heroine of a typical “pet novel.” On the day of her wedding, she refuses to marry the male protagonist, Xie Huaian, who is known for his pampered concubines and neglect of his wife. Instead, she voluntarily asks to marry Xie Yunzhi, the male protagonist’s older brother, the heir.
What if he’s a “suit-and-tomb” figure (a term for someone who is stuck in a mournful, lifeless situation)? That’s still better than being with a scumbag! From then on, Xu Qingyi focuses solely on enjoying life—admiring flowers, playing with birds, and raising the children, all while casually watching the drama unfold. She plans to divorce once the heir returns. However, things take an unexpected turn: the three children she is raising grow incredibly close to her, turning into little warm bundles of affection.
With the heir’s return approaching, Xu Qingyi tells the children, “When your father returns, I will ask for a divorce. You know what to do, right?” The three children nod eagerly: “We’ll grow up well with father’s money, and when we’re older, we’ll work hard to take care of you, Mother!”
Xie Yunzhi, who returns earlier than expected, learns that he has a “housewarming wife” (a wife taken to ward off bad luck), but he doesn’t feel much about it. His parents praise Xu Qingyi for her warmth, gentleness, and dedication to the children. They claim she loves him deeply, and he figures he can put up with it—respect and harmony should come later.
However, when he overhears something at the door the next day, his mood turns darker than when he’s been struck by arrows on the battlefield.
When they officially meet, Xie Yunzhi falls for his wife at first sight. But remembering her earlier words, his expression turns even darker than his battle wounds. Xu Qingyi tries to find a chance to talk to him, but every time she tries, things go awry. Finally, in the midst of one conversation, they somehow end up… well, you can guess. “Oh no! What happened? The usually quiet and reserved heir can’t possibly have feelings for me, right? No way…!”
