This is an excellent showbiz novel. Although fairly sweet, it has enough description of the showbiz world in China and even a little about the international entertainment business.

Mei zihan, the MC, originally wanted to become a salted fish (lol) but, his lover, Jiang Ying motivated him to explore the world of an actor. MC is originally a small soap opera actor and was content with his lot. And his extraordinary journey begin. MC is the cute uncle type, and I don't mean his look, but his character is lovable. He's... more>> not ambitious but he will do anything for love and because ML loved the acting career, MC find his love for acting as well and tried to keep improving his acting. ML is a genius acting school graduate but because of family reasons, he can't enter the showbiz world, so he started coaching MC. This novel is fairly tame in terms of intrigue. The funny thing is many persistent villains ends up being good brothers him and it was hilarious.

MC wanted to be raised by ML and also wanted to sleep With ML but he keeps on getting distracted by ML. The dynamic of this couple is funny, and the characters are cute. Especially MC broker, he's certified mother hen.

This is a steady, sweet, fun showbiz novel to read. <<less

Fun and exaggerated, in depth about showbiz and trying to portray a sense of realism but contradictory because of how author wrote MC's career. 4.5 rounded to 5. If you like entertainment circle story this one is great. The storyline focused more in the career of MC rather than the romance.

MC is a golden retriever type, s*upid, simple but lovely. Saying he's smart but he's only smart in acting, other things are dumb lol I like how MC is not 360 degrees perfect. He sucks at dancing and singing. He... more>> thought he's great but he met someone better so he ended up thinking he's mediocre and is fairly satisfied to get a bowl of small rice from acting bad telenovelas. The agent always told MC to go diet, he's lazy asf and only thinks of climbing the bed of MC which makes a great gap moe from his cool acting side. MC began to love acting but he love ML more.

The ML is honestly a weak presence until chapter 200s when author began to gave him background instead of just "handsome, rich, acting genius teacher and good at cooking". ML is great and loving to MC, and take many first steps together with MC to face his own obstacles. Just like how he pushed MC to be better, MC also pushed him to be better.

Because of how author described them (MC:handsome golden retriever type actor, ML: beautiful teacher in univ) I thought MC is a gong lol but he's a spirited shou.

The only minus is that there is no sense of crisis. The "villains" was barely mentioned and there's no large rollover scene and MC passed everything quite smoothly. If anything one of the point of this story is the fake brotherhood lol. It's funny, refreshing, but didn't give a sense of satisfaction to readers. But it's a matter of preference anyway. <<less

3.5 stars - A satisfying read for a showbiz novel - enough emphasis on 'behind-the-scenes' shenanigans, fan/sunspot weibo comments, various acting arcs with interesting storylines. Though, it's a smooth sailing for MC - so much that his fans wonder if he was reborn... XD

MC is lovable to an unbelievable point - his naivety, at times, help him make bonds with others. He is super loyal to the ML and is willing to pamper ML and trusts him wholeheartedly. MC-Broker/Agent interactions are funny, and the agent is a good friend to... more>> him.

On romance, the story is a big let-down - MC-ML interactions seem more like ML Pavlovian-conditioning MC... MC, at times, seems to be afraid of ML's response, and is always looking for confirmation from ML, and ML is always calculating how to further condition MC so as MC stays loyal to him in future... <<less
