Wen QingLing, as a wood and psychic type ability user, was sabotaged by his cousin at a critical moment and was pushed out to block zombies. He was bitten and his teammates fled.

He decided to find an auspicious place to die.

But while he didn’t die, the zombies around him did.

Wen QingLing, “???”

Yes, Wen QingLing became a zombie, but he mutated.

He breathed, had a heartbeat, and had consciousness, there was practically no difference between him and humans.

He had authority over zombies, his wounds healed themselves, and where his blood was spilled, life was restored.

Wen QingLing returned home to help his zombie parents regain their consciousness and restored their decomposing bodies back to their original appearance.

They opened a clinic in the City of Zombies, and would only treat zombies or infected people. All it cost was nuclei.

News that living people lived in the City of Zombies spread like wildfire.

Someone said, “There is a clinic that only treats zombies.”

Another person said, “There is a doctor that can heal the infected.”

There was another who said, “The living people there are all those who were saved after becoming zombies.”

The survivors went crazy, they all went looking for their zombified relatives in hopes of a miracle.

As I read, I slowly find it a bit difficult to enjoy due to MC's action.

Long rant and certain key events below:

Spoiler

I feel like ML love life is hard, like MC doesn't give a damn about him and treat ML as a possession/item. MC says he owns all the converted zombies and ML and says the difference is that he finds ML to not be loyal since he retains his human self and ability. Same when ML's 2 friends drank his blood and retained their human selves and abilities, MC did not like it since they aren't loyal to MC. And also there is an absurd rule where if you infect, you marry, due to that MC said ML needed to marry his friends cause he infected them. Like wtf. Later ML's friend has an uncle who they wanted to bring in but asked if the uncle is handsome enough to find a converted zombie to marry else he can go to a human base.

I understand MC's logic of humans are foe but you also won't convert all the humans and zombies. So you really can't pull the idea of they can't be trusted. It started as a nice read, but with how emotionless MC is and one time of hurting ML even though MC did heal ML, I just feel pity for ML.

Also the reason why MC hurt ML was because ML wanted to return to his base and resolve a matter but MC did not listen and broke ML's ribcage (?). So fast forward a few chapters later, MC allows ML to return and the condition was to steal medical equipment for his research in retaining abilities after becoming a converted zombies like wtf. Now comes the part, ML and his comrades returned to the base to resign as soldiers, and their task of stealing medical equipment needed to be done as well. One of ML's comrade asked why they couldn't steal from other places to which ML replied MC will know. Like MC is treating ML and co as servants and did not think of how difficult this task is and giving them a deadline of 4 days else he would be appearing at the base to probably cause mayhem.

It seems after ML talked to MC about how converted zombies should find a way to co-exist with humans, the trust issue lessened? At least MC seems to think of the wider picture of how converted zombies would one day go extinct since they can't "reproduce".

Later, Researcher Zhu found that the zombies who use the transform agent are become a new human who has longer lifespan due to the cells mutating. MC after getting infected, mutated with his wood abilities which cause his blood to be like seeds, which after consumption of the blood plants made the converted zombies different. Converted zombies are more enhanced in strength than new humans. MC was likened to being a plant.

c95:
Spoiler

ML confessed and ask to pursue MC and MC says "aren't you mine from the beginning?". Later MC kiss ML and says "you are different, I can kiss you." MC went sleeping beauty earlier due to upgrading his power.

[collapse]

c??:
Spoiler

Of course it is still MC who has the pants in the relationship. He is foremost ML's boss before lover. So every time there is a decision, MC is the one who calls the short, deciding where the humans can settle and giving sarcastic opinions when ML choose to settle the humans in a first tier city near to MC's territory edge.

[collapse]

c135:
Spoiler

MC is just... He re-infect ML so to wash away all his leftover human blood. Just because ML wanted to help a major portion of human who stayed and didn't migrate. MC was like no, your body and life is mine. ML is like slowly losing his emotion and can't believe MC would deprive him of his emotions. This is probably the first novel I read where the MC is the scum.

[collapse]

c137:
Spoiler

Too complex. ML probably don't have the passionate love kind but like a desire of possession similar to MC. MC says he frees the converted zombies of restriction and allow them to feel whatever they want. He also says to ML that he won't lose the emotions he wants to keep and that if his love for MC is true, then that love would stay. Anyway both of them have their own distorted love for each other, they kissed rough and passionately before teleporting to a bed to have a fade to black scene.

I can only say I feel like the 2 days I spent feels a bit of a let down. Too much dog blood, MC who does whatever he wants without a care, ML who views MC with a rose tinted glass and slowly losing his IQ to his EQ.

[collapse]

c140:
Spoiler

I stand correct, ML is now a pure zombie and have no more emotions besides his distorted love and loyalty for MC. MC and ML have now declared enemies to Central Giant City. I have doubts MC whether they would keep being affiliated to the 3 base since the reason the why he did so was due to ML and with ML having no human compassion, he could very well rescind his help.

[collapse]

c141:
Spoiler

ML confirms that he kept his love while enduring 3 days of torture through the re-infection. He struggled being near death and kept only that emotion to survive. This already sounds like stockholm syndrome or some sort of conditioning through torture.

I have officially lost interest in this novel. It ain't sweet, there is no happiness in this novel. It shows you the grim reminder of how even zombies won't have compassion even if they retain their thoughts and not emotions. But its ending soon so I will stay.

[collapse]

c142:
Spoiler

Author note gave insight that MC and ML still retain weak emotions but still feel protective over friends and family. Author stated that during the transformation, ML love for MC was strengthen due not wanting to forget loving MC since he worry that he won't understand emotions after becoming a pure zombie. So after transforming, ML default mostly to his love of MC.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Apparently MC has another blood plant that uses his heart blood. It was taken to be raised by the quasi zombie king, in the end MC and ML relented to let him continue being together with the quasi zombie king. MC and ML later make another child from MC's heart blood and ML's zombie toxins so that the baby would look like them. The family of 5 then went on a road trip.

It feels disjointed for the last 2 chapters. It started out like a big fight between zombie kings but became a child custody fight and family moments when there was never a depiction at all. Since early on when there was 2 kids, both MC and ML never took care of them, they were raised by MC's mom and dad, they weren't even mentioned after being handed over to the mom and dad until the child custody fight happened and he was brought back to meet the 2 kids. So it feels sort of like a mashed up ending that the Author created to give a happy ending scenario to conclude the novel.

I enjoyed the first half, but not so much in the later period.
Spoiler

especially after the ML was infected and transformed.

The writing is excellent. The plot is interesting, and it has a promising start. However, I just don't really like the MC and the development of the story.

I can understand if the MC lost his trust in human due to the betrayal, but his thoughts and actions are so chuunibyou and self-centred. He was acting like he's living in a video game of some sort, and never once was a human. This irked me a lot. Besides, although the author always claimed the MC to be emotionless in order to support some of his unreasonable, excessive actions, I don't think this is the case at all. In contrast, he and his family are rather very expressive. They're just unbothered about other people's life and death.

For ML, his character development is probably what I regret the most in this novel. Like seriously, his character setting was so good in the early days. He's compassionate, disciplined, responsible, and reasonable—the traits expected of a good military personnel. I initially thought he may be able to correct MC's wrong attitude and bad personalities. Who knows it would be him who was ruined by the MC instead. It's such a pity. sigh, I really want to express my frustration about ML's character development, but I am afraid to give away too many spoilers. 😮‍💨 To sum it up, almost all of his good qualities vanished, and he became more like MC's pet subordinate. This character development is not in line with my liking and my expectations at all. Together with the plot developments, the story became really messed up and unpalatable towards the ending.

This novel was fun and all until the Yue County arc... At the point, what MC did was too excessive for my moral threshold. I can't justify it with my eyes closed. The MC's literally a zionist at this point.

I did read the tags before reading this novel, and I enjoyed the OP and cool ride of MC's rise to power, but sometimes he did exaggeratingly, unnecessarily hostile and cruel things even though he promised to be a civilized socialism zombie. If you understand the concept of socialism, you'd understand... more>> that some of what he did were excessive.

Do note that MC's people actually didn't need what the Yue County had, but the MC still went out and destroyed a perfectly peaceful county that didn't bother anyone unprovoked. That county just wanted to protect their own resource in their own land. Reasonable, right?

Also, if you're expecting a slice of life story about opening a clinic in apocalypse from the title alone, this novel wasn't just about opening a clinic, so that's that. It's more like an action-thriller story, to be honest.

This novel started out strong, unique and funny, but changed into power struggle and moral descend halfway. <<less

I am trying to read it MTL, it's not that difficult, but there are still some confusing parts. I really hope some good group will take this novel and continue the translation, as a person who loves apocalypse-themed novels, I think this one is very nice and to see one with a zombie as the MC, even though not the ordinary kind, is still refreshing since there are not many like this.

I will put some novels with zombie MC that I know on the recommendations.

Reading the reviews most of the complaints were about the MCs personality. Reading the story I saw what they were saying but I loved how ruthless and decisive he was. However, the more I read the more I understood what the others were trying to say. The MC’s character becomes less about being strong and determined, and more petty and immature.

Plot: MC becomes a zombie after being betrayed. He mutates into a special zombie that maintains his human appearance and consciousness. He develops a sort of healing ability. Wen QingLing... more>> helps starts a clinic with the intended population being zombies or people recently infected.

Characters:

Wen QingLing (the MC) -petty, immature, and OP: QingLing is actually described to be young compared to the other adult characters. He somehow manages to survive the apocalypse only to be betrayed by his cousin. What’s a young person to do when sh*t hits the fan? Pack it up and go back home. QingLing’s character is actually refreshing in how he does not know all the answers and seeks guidance sometimes. However, he’s not some indecisive kid. He’s has his own set of morals and sticks to them, while being somewhat cutthroat. It’s the apocalypse, I loved how, to survive, he had to be a somewhat morally gray character. Later in the story he becomes somewhat of an egotistical entitled narcissistic, but in a subtle way if that makes sense. He just becomes very judgmental and petty. At times he was mean unprovoked and he didn’t even have to be because he was basically living the apocalypse on easy mode.

Spoiler

He developed a feeling of apathy for humans. Not only because of how they treated him, but he aligned himself with zombies which was his own kind. I wished he had remained that way. But he’ll on occasion most often through force of plot because involved with them, and he randomly show kindness while at other times be completely unmoved. That in itself is not too bad, but he says the rudest things. He’s so mean to some characters for no reason. I think its supposed to be funny at times or a show of strength but it comes across as tasteless

[collapse]
In the end it’s not too bad, I just prefer the indifference from the beginning of the plot.

Xiao Hen (the ML) - diligent, loyal, soldier: He really just wants to heal mankind. Many times he’s disagreed with or disapproved of QingLing’s action but he usually ends up helping. Him liking the MC was a bit strange for me because he often was around just doing damage control and mediating. The MC liking him was even stranger tbh. I saw it coming but the way their relationship developed just wasn’t danmei romance like.

Spoiler

He changes for the MC in many ways

[collapse]

I’ll add more characters later... maybe. In the end though, it’s actually really good. You’ll just find yourself side eyeing the MC sometimes. <<less

I saw the review, most readers give this a bad stars because of MC is cold blooded and just killing others. Maybe some readers want to see a "good" typical MC that help others like some kind of saint.

Actually I like that kind of MC, it's refreshing. Why should he (MC) spare the humans when he's already a zombie? Actually I'm dissatisfied with his choice of sparing some humans like his female cousin (he should've just kill her to reduce problems in the future).

MC is s*upid, in the novel he's... more>> still 20 ish but he's s*upid. He never develop any plan or think through of his next action, the author is also not a good writer. If the author want a cold blooded op MC, he/she should write it so. Like in Yue county for example, why don't he massacre them instead of sparing them?

Spoiler

Also commenting on some review, Yue city will eventually get destroyed. Even if MC didn't raid that "peaceful" place, most people there are like a pampered shut in with only 4 people that can fight. Their choice of living is already a dead end in this kind of zombie world

[collapse]

As for the relationship between MC and ML:

Honestly I love the ML more? MC is just like a brat who got op power then act rashly and arrogantly. I hate everytime the author define MC like "he no longer has human emotion" while showing MC caring for his parents and the civilized zombies, saving his previous friend before the zombie world, etc. It's an insult to some real apathetic protagonist of different novels (either BL or non BL).

ML is actually annoying at first with his saving humanity persona but he get likeable later on, although he act like a puppet sometimes.

Spoiler

they kinda get together at ch 95? MC emotions for ML are still ambiguous but he see ML as a special subordinate that he can kiss and hug

[collapse]

Some side characters are even more interesting than the protagonists, like MC's parents or the blood corpse.

Overall I wasted plenty of time in reading this novel <<less

I saw this getting updated by chance on my feed yesterday. I didn't properly read the tags and thought it would be a light-hearted story based on the title so I searched up the MTL version, but boy I was wrong. 😂 It's not light-hearted at all. The MC is apathetic, yes, and at first the ML gets into disagreements with him in the beginning because of that nature of his, but MC has his reasons and it's quite understandable.

Sure, the MC is a powerful character, but he's not a saint... more>> who's obligated to save everyone else. The ML's decision to stick to him despite their initial differences is commendable imo, and I think he's the reason why the MC who is cold-hearted at the start, gradually became a little soft in the end and became a bit more lenient.

There are conspiracies everywhere. The girl who caused harm to Wen Qingling at the start is so annoying, like a c*ckroach that can't be killed no matter what. She pissed me off too much 😂

The main CP is quite interesting too. I mean, out of all the novels I've read, I have never seen a pairing like them. I love them so much 😭

I'm glad that this got picked up by the translators. I'm waiting for it to get completed before I do a second reading, and maybe my review will get edited if I find any changes? Anyway I like like like this novel very much that I finished reading it in one night. 5 stars! ☺️☺️ <<less

I can definitely relate to the negative reviews mentioned here, but at the same time, maybe I'm just used to CN x Apocalypse novels being extremely ruthless, but the actual plot wasn't as bad as I thought.

The MC is definitely not a good person, but also not an extremely evil one. I would say his author's halo is that all of his "ruthless" actions are whitewashed into "righteous/good-for-you" actions in the end. The author is very good at twisting all of the MC's ruthless/unethical actions into something like "tough love"... more>> and beneficial to humanity.

Spoiler

Eg. MC does an immoral thing of brutally stealing all of a base's food stores because he's annoyed; author writes it into a "good" thing where the MC somehow made the "right" choice by stealing it, "teaching" those good-for-nothings at the original base a "lesson" and ends up with a lot of allies "who realized how right the MC was to take their food." Then MC uses the food to farm and basically provide limitless sustenance to his "followers" and other allies in the end. Classic YY novel genre where MC gets a ton of new worshippers after every event.

[collapse]

So, yes, definitely a morally gray / not-great MC in a morally gray / not-great plot. However, if you're able to tolerate it and you're looking for a "leveling-up" post-apocalypse story with a lot of banter and comedy, this isn't a bad read.

I definitely enjoyed the story in the beginning a lot more than the middle/end.

Translation was pretty good. A few unedited spots near the end but flowed well overall. <<less

I can't stand the MC.

The MC is so unreasonable in a lot of parts in this Novel making him so distasteful and unlikable and some of his actions is just unredeemable to me since his logic doesn't make any sense and he just wants to be an heartless ahole.

In all honesty the story concept is really good but the execution is not very well. Author's writing is really inconsistent, sometimes the phasing is fast that some details are left unexplained then sometimes slow that other things are over explained.

Regarding MC, it's understandable that he doesn't feel anything towards ML because after becoming a zombie his emotions turn to nothing aside from his connection to his parents. But we can't deny that ML is really quite pitiful. The romance is also not well integrated in the story so the... more>> foundation is really shallow.

Actually after reading the author's other work, I noticed the author's style. He/she is terrible in writing an ending and rush everything making the story concept's quality plummeted down. It's really a pity seeing the potential of the plot if it's only written with more thought.

I don't know if it is just me but try reading the author's other story ≪重生成幼崽A爆星际≫ it is interstellar plus reborn story, quite good but the ending sucks (because it feels incomplete). <<less

Many reviews said that MC character is unlikeable, for me he's an okay. He being an antihero is actually a plus.

Yes he's indifferent since he's a zombie, and he mutated with his wood ability and became plant-like unfeeling mutated zombie, and he was betrayed by humans. He's not that interested with humanity but it's understandable since he's a zombie who humans detest and human can be a danger to his zombie civilization. But to humans who close with him, he takes care of them well.

Overall I like this story since... more>> it's unique. <<less

MC is, in short, insufferable. He's the typical character that the author wants to seem badass and without a moral line (for people who don't like "good guys"), but is really just an idiot. ML seemed a lot more interesting despite the clichéd past, and it was honestly a shame what his character development turned out to be. It's the fate of ML's, I think. It's not the worst story I've read on the subject, but it's far from one of the best. Give it a try if you want... more>> to pass the time and gain reading experience. <<less

Spoiler

Nope, I won’t be rating this as well because it’s just not my kind of novel and it would be unfair if I rated it when I haven’t completed atleast half of it

Based on the 1st few chaps, this novel focuses more on the comedic side, not the rational side

At the beginning, MC became a zombie and he went back to his base for revenge. Then, when his past teammates wanted to kill him (because he’s already a zombie) MC got very upset

W/c is understandable that he got upset! But the way his reasoning it out just made me think —- white lotus btch lol

He was like ‘don’t I deserve to live’ etc. He does deserve to live! But his teammates doesn’t know that he has awareness or that he’s not targeting the whole base, just his cousin. It’s reasonable for his former teammates to fight him

Plus when he went back home, he fed his parents blood and they started to have awareness as well and grow some skin. But it doesn’t seem that his/his parents were surprised at all!

He wasn’t as emotional as he seem to seeing his parents live again. Nor were his parents shocked that an apocalypse was happening

In fact, the first thing MC said to his parents was something like “the doctor profession isn’t popular anymore”

It just feels irrational for me

I enjoyed it!! It's very satisfying power up story, everything is pretty breezy and there's a clear comedic undertone to everything, even the tense part but it's done very well and doesn't feel off at all.

The MC becomes a city lord and the clinic aspect and small life routine I was expecting wasn't dragged, the world building expanded pretty quickly, but it was done very well and the escalation didn't feel off at all. The flow of the overall novel is very smooth, the parts were intriguing and enjoyable.

The... more>> only thing I feel a little off about is the relationship dynamic between the two. Although it was sweet and enjoyable, there's elements that are very 'domineering president (mc) is in love with me!) ' -- so for those who aren't really good with things like coercion or egoistic MC you may be turned off by the relationship abit. I don't really care, it's fiction and it may not be my cup of tea but the other areas of the novel is very good, and I enjoyed it very much!!

I'm very happy the translator decided to pick it up!! I hope more and more people will like the novel as it progresses as well!! <<less

Among other Bl Zombie novels I've read, this is the first time I found this one interesting.

I mean, zombie as a main character? Sure there're also other novels that has the same setting but I prefer this one.

Due to my reading until current chapter, I'm unable to provide further information. I can only stated as following.

Reasons? Comedy. Also, a Zombie family with 3 people (zombie) ? Count me in. While there are confusion in plot but pretty sure there'll have some enlightenment for every questions. ML? Too early to say... more>> anything.

I think this is one of the best bl zombie apocalypse books I have read so far. It should have a higher rating than 3 stars in my opinion.

Some people think that the MC is cruel and even cruel to the ML, but he is not human but a mutated zombie, he can feel things very slightly and has high possession of people he likes. In the end it is a HE

The ML ... more>>

was forcibly turned into a full zombie by the MC instead of being part zombie but this is because he could feel that if the ML stayed in that condition he would die in the city because of the huge zombie tide being made, these feelings and his ability to randomly see glimpses of the future showed that it was the right choice

The only thing I missed was the interaction with his family as the base got bigger the interaction with his family lowered a lot

I also wish there was more interaction with his children but the ending was good showing how they were now free with their kids. This is not an MPREG story.

This novel used to have the tags of manly gay couple and mpreg but after reading the WHOLE thing, obviously there was none of that. At most the shou is stronger than the top, but the shou was still described as small and delicate so obviously that's not a manly gay couple. 😐😐😐😐😐😐 Also where was the mpreg who put those tags there bffr pls😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐 at most it's just raising kids together and making a baby by mixing their blood. Was the shou ever pregnant? Non. That's what I thought... more>> pls don't anyhow put tags pls.

Overall an ok read I like that the shou is the toxic one here, not sure why all the translators lost interest tho I get that the shou is extreme but it's just fiction. I liked the comedy it was a bit funny sometimes at least the jokes were not sexist. A bit of a shame that there were no close female counterparts that were likable or any female in power n most of the female characters were enemies... There was that little zombie girl but she only appeared in at most 1/2 chs. <<less

3.5 to max 4. The story plot is good but it’s also abit bland especially the romance side. But overall the circumstances were quite realistic. As MC becomes op and also building his cities, there’s alot dramas but because he was a zombie, it’s really fits his character to be bit more ruthless and cold. But he also kind in his own way. Cus human always gonna be shitty in those circumstances. And he knew what going to happened when selfish humans tend to destroy more than “save” humanity. There’s... more>> also great support characters like MC parents, they were cute and funny. Overall ok read. If you have nothing to read, maybe can give it a go. Thank you <<less
