Oooh, I MTLed this a while ago, I'm glad to see someone's translating it. The summary makes it seem really humorous and sand sculpture, but I would say it's more drama than humor. MC has always been a 1 until he met the ML. He has the face of angel, but he's actually a scum man, due to a traumatic family history. ML is sincere, hardworking, and kind. I really like the entertainment bits (e.g. The escape rooms), as well as the slow relationship development. Also, attention: this is NOT... more>> ABO. When the summary says "Alpha" - it's more of a "male god" meaning. <<less

read the first three chapters on chrysanthemum garden this morning, told myself to just follow the translation and enjoy the ride, instantly caved and MTL'd the whole thing. God this was so good!!! I really enjoyed this read.

i liked the character settings (both the MC and ML's intricate and multi-faceted natures), the slow burn (!!), and most of all, the exquisite character growth over the course of the novel, which is so gratifying to witness and be a part of. The story shows us what is love, how love changes... more>> you, how to love somebody else; the extras show us how to love ourselves. Bonus points for interesting and well-written escape room content (the MC and ML record a reality show together) and all the physics related content I learned about while MTLing. The author makes science so poetic.

i don't have much else to say. This novel has it all, and I'm excited to read chrysanthemum garden's translation. A solid, enjoyable read with poetic moments that make me want to go find love.

This is an earlier work by the same author as Fanservice Paradox, and is a spin-off of the author's previous novel BE Crazy Demon Survival System in which MC of this novel is the uncle of ML from the previous novel. However, it's not necessary to read the previous novel as most things can be inferred.

In this novel, MC is a handsome playboy with avoidant personality disorder. He has had many lovers and likes the thrill of the chase, but becomes frightened when faced with true emotional attachments. Therefore, he... more>> has never truly had an emotional connection with anyone. ML is but another one of the projects that he wishes to conquer.

On the other hand, ML is an idealistic young actor who becomes unfortunately entangled by MC's wily ways. They start off as less-than-lovers and experience a complex emotional journey together. Neither of the two are perfect, but they find ways to complement each other as ML teaches MC to love others and, most importantly, himself.

There is no instalove to be found in this novel and it takes a long time for the couple to develop trust and understanding, but it is well worth it. The characters are extremely real and go through tremendous growth throughout the novel.

The author also did a lot of research in inserting real life theories regarding math, physics, and philosophy into this novel. Highly recommended if you're looking for a more complex and worthy read. <<less

I hesitate at first to read this, because some reviews say there's quite drama in this story. I'm not so fond of angst.

But after I read the first few chapters, I really like the storyline & the character settings.

First, we have the MC, a playboy scum (who always top) who believes that s*x didn't need love. He started to pursue ML because he is attracted by ML who has the personality opposite of him, an upright man who always treat others kindly. He treat ML as kind of challenge he... more>> want to conquer. I don't hate his personality. He likes to tease the ML, constantly poking ML's edge to get to know how he will react. But later he becomes attached to ML. I assure you, ever since the MC starts to pursue ML, he didn't spare his time playing with other boys as he think they're not as interesting as ML anymore.

As for the ML, I really respect him. He is the kind of righteous man who is really patience towards MC, especially after he realize he had fallen in love with MC. And this patience, gentleness and kindness is what touches and breaks MC's shell, allowing him to reveal his insecurities to ML, even giving him the courage to face his trauma.

They really got together quite late in the chapter, even though they've already acted like couples way before. It is because the MC doesn't have the courage to make their relationship official and admit his feelings for ML due to his past trauma.

Actually, there's not much drama/conflict. Just lay back and read on how the ML catch the MC heart through his kindness & gentleness. <<less

read it last May and I liked this way more than I was expecting and it's one of six (out of 100+) on my completed raws list rated at 4.5. I didn't write too many notes but here's what I have.

One of the things I really like about the novel is how complex and real the MC feels, instead of just being an ideal collection of personality traits that are exactly the same as a hundred others. This MC acts clever and world weary, he's played around as a top... more>> but never been in love. He's an as*hole at the beginning so this starts out with the ML really disliking MC while the MC thinks he's a "delightful little snack."

this is also one of the few novels to tackle the lingering after effects of child ab*se and PTSD, including flashbacks and panic attacks, in a fairly realistic way. Trauma doesn't just go away because your an adult now, especially when the ab*ser is still in front of him. Poor MC has been through a lot.

according to these novels, in China it's apparently perfectly fine for a parent or step parent to do horrible things to their children (from physical to s*xual ab*se, psychological to neglect) and get away with it, especially if they come from a rich family. They are never reported and never jailed for these crimes. The corruption implied pisses me off to no end.

Just like the reviews above, it's really good and more on drama than humor. I really like the character of MC.

Sadly, the translator dropped it since it is getting licensed. But, don't worry! It is easy to MTL ❤️❤️

You know, I had already put this on my "To Read List" but the final last straw that made me to finally read this was because they (Zhou Ziheng and Xia Xiqing) appeared on Fanservice Paradox (in escape part.) and boom, I read it.

what I did not F ucking expect was, I had this turmoil emotions, like you're in rollercoaster but the said rollercoaster is just sharp turns and there is no ending of it. The worst case, was, my emotions AND feelings got fluctuated the best... more>> out of me. I felt, hurted, ached, and I f*cking cr ied like a baby??!?!? And AMAKAKAKAB D""";

I am those type that SOMETIMES reading a slowburn novel (or fic) really killing me inside (eps if the case is like 6 cats rushes to raise me. GOD NO. PLS NO.), but this one did not. the phase is EVERYTHING. it just sit right, in my book and CHEFS KISS.

"Rose and Renaissance." (incohorent noises.) There are so much I want to say about them (ZZH&XXQ) but I just canT bring myself to do it. I am afraid, I will just cry myself out. :"D

Beautiful story with character depth and interesting side characters. Personalities are well fleshed out throughout the story, with good pacing that helps the readers in the learning of each character. By the end of the story, you will learn that the MC has built up heavy mental guards to protect himself from hurt because of childhood trauma and a lack of self-esteem (as in, he believes that he could never truly be loved by anyone in this world, since even his own mother hated him and his own father ab*sed... more>> him). You will also learn that it is the pure righteousness and protectiveness of the ML that breaks down these mental barriers to catch a glimpse of the real MC, who is only keeping people at arm's length just to maintain his own sanity. It is dastardly good writing for they were portrayed as such opposites at the start but were afterwards showed to really be the same people given how the MC was the one who taught the ML the beauty of kindness in the very beginning of the ML's child acting career. Their every interaction, their initial tension and their fateful encounters all make up a wonderful read and it'd be a waste if you did not give this piece a try. <<less

I MTL-ed the whole thing and I enjoyed it so much. It is a fun read and the MC is really a well-developed character.

The way the main characters think also amazes me and they are distinct—like the character of the author's other novel, Fanservice Paradox.

Ye know, the author, ZhiChu, can make Mathematics and Science so poetic.

I like this novel ❤️ a good slice of life and the chara is not perfect but not annoying. Rather it is portrayed realistically. Highly recommended. MC is a painter and is fake proclaimed as a fan of ML. MC is a lil unlikeable (really a scum and shameless) at the beginning (but it is understandable due to his past. I even curse him internally) . That's why, the ML dislike the MC until the reality show bet an artist and his fan is started.

Probably the downside is the long... more>> push and pull between MC and ML. (A lil fed up with MC's attitude but this makes the chara to have a 3D personality. ML really has an infinite patience for MC XD). <<less

Super underrated! I purchased the first book about 3 months ago thinking I would eventually read it (added another book to my 'to be read' pile) because the description on Novel Updates was interesting. I only bought the first book “just in case” I was not fond of the delivered story. I finished the first book in 2 days and then ordered the last three that same night. I started the second book today and finished it today. The story is good and the characters are well portrayed with decent... more>> character development. The editing on it is not the greatest (misuse of words/confusion of past/present/future) but it reads 1000% times better than any MTL. I definitely recommend the read and plan on finishing the story over the weekend! <<less
