Despite having found Mingxi, the Zhao family continued to favor the fake daughter, saying that Mingxi was not as kind nor as graceful as Zhao Yuan.

Mingxi didn’t mind. She continued to work hard to please her family although they would always say that she was trying to rob their attention away from Zhao Yuan.

Until she died because of a terminal illness.

It was then that she realized that Zhao Yuan was the actual lady blessed by luck while she was merely this novel’s evil supporting character with a tragic ending.

Zhao Mingxi who was given a second chance at life was bitterly disappointed. She no longer cared about her family. Screw her family and her fiancé. She immediately packed her bags and left home, off to complete the task given by the system named ‘Becoming Friends With Popular and Valuable Characters’.

After she left, the house suddenly became cold and quiet.

By right they should feel at ease, but–

Her parents, her indifferent elder brother, her brash younger brother, Shen Liyao who was used to her pursuits were all successively feeling… unused to it?

I specifically registered an account just to rate this novel!

One word. Sweet!

Two words. Very sweet!

The interaction between the MC and ML is just... wow.

I can't help smiling at their every exchange! ❤️

It's worth reading, trust me.

Read it for Fu Yangze, the fluffiest little tsundere in the land. You will want to keep him. He is beautifully nuanced and perfectly acts his age. He's like a riled up, slightly feral cat, who nonetheless desperately wants pets and brings you dead things, while pretending he is ignoring you. And you will want to pet him. I like that the family wasn't melodrama-horrible to their bio daughter. They're just lazy and limited. There were some genuine and sweet moments shared. There also wasn't a major rivalry or hatred... more>> between the two daughters to start with. It was more like, the family didn't know their new daughter, and didn't know how to get to know her, and were lazy about working on it. Rather than trying hard, like Mengxi did, they took the easy, self-serving path of liking what they've always liked instead of adjusting to accommodate a new person.

Thousands of tiny barbs, biases, and indifferent behaviors built up until, finally, Mengxi in the original plot line snapped under the crushing avalanche of microscopic cuts.

This time around, she's just done, and has moved on cleanly. No revenge or pettiness. Her family is staggering awake from a fugue and panicking as they realizing they can't rely on Mengxi to haul their lazy carcasses up the hill anymore.

However, they overcorrect and begin to take it out on Yuan, their "fake" daughter, since it's easier to blame her, rather than acknowledge their approach was terrible, biased, unfair, and flawed. They do an about face, when a middle balance of correcting their skewed behavior and treating both girls fairly would have been best.

I genuinely feel bad for Yuan, who is in a difficult and precarious position. Her place in life is entirely dependent on their level of affection for her, and they are so inconstant that she becomes desperate to ensure her security.

This did make me cry at parts, so if you've ever felt unappreciated or unseen by your family, prepare for some feels. <<less

Okay this is just wow amazing, it was one of those stories that I couldn’t get off my mind so I read the whole MTL novel.

If you like stories where the romance is cute, the “villains” get face slapped and the there is a happy ending then I recommend this so much.

The ML is just amazing, he never does anything that annoys you or puts you off from reading and although he acts tough, he never insults the FL at all and is a doting ML.

it was so satisfying when the family all repented on how they treated the FL and even more when the fake sister was found out to be the child of the woman who abandoned the FL! She got kicked out and honestly it was the best feeling you could get from reading this type of story.

all in all 10000/10 recommend, cold-hearted but smart FL and worth spending ur time on if ur looking for a light read which doesn’t require too much thinking. <<less

This novel is so good I actually cried a lot (or maybe I'm just a sucker for family members regretting what they've done). Anyway, the couple is so cute!! The romance will make you feel giddy. I just find myself smiling while reading.

the Zhao family. It was left for the future if ever they will make up. It's a pity because it would have been cute for the three brothers to spoil the MC, but it's kinda understandable because she had drawn a clear line and severed the relationship with her family. Again, it's a pity, but it's fine as well.

What I like:

    • the male lead, the female lead, and their friends in the international class
    • The ending
    • Spoiler
        • How author alludes that the MC and her original family may sort things out in the future (They were wrong and they are regretting. It will be a shame if they never get together, but only time can heal such big wounds. Honestly, if they author had, on the other hand, got them together or plot's sake, it may have actually been worse... But I still hope to see them together... maybe in a sequel?)
        • How the relationship between ML and his mother changes, it's not just one sided - the MC didn't just say things and she changed, but the ML's mother took the first step.
        • How the Shen guy learns to move on... His character development is nice.
      [collapse]
The other things:

    • Okay, so the heroine's halo made everyone in MC's family against her... then it's not exactly their fault right? It's not MC's fault, not her parents'... can I blame you author?
    • Personal rant: why is it that every time two children are swapped at birth, one turns out to shine and they other gets ostracized? Can't the children get along? Why do they have to be compared... both children are insecure. Such plots are too dark to actually give one the innocent verdict and the other the guilty. The MC's family think they have done well enough for ZY, but they gave her money, made her spoiled... them saying they didn't know the real her just shows how shallow their relationship was. Giving her everything and then throwing her in poverty when she isn't prepared for life... I don't like ZY, she is pitiful and hateful. But I hope that when she comes out of prison, she can move on.
    • Spoiler

Lastly... because I mtl-ed, I don't get what happen when MC decided to give her luck to heal ML. Like consequences - none? I like that she chose not to be the heroine and just fall in love (that's character development right there)

It was good, and bad.
The only downside for me is,
Spoiler

The character here have no character development, the bad characters realized their mistakes and regret, that's all, and continue being bad until the end.
Everybody should have a 2nd chances despite being a bad person.
I think, everyone deserve to be happy including the villain, they just need some chances and the right guide.
The story would be better if the bad character become better, and in good terms with MC.

I love the ml, but I think the romantic relationship and the FL are both pretty strange. Definitely not what I imagine as romantic. Is it really romantic for someone to misunderstand that another person likes him when they're really just trying to leech off his luck and secretly thinks he's a delinquent? Is a "love" for someone that is built out of misunderstanding and selfish need really love? The ML is lucky compared to the FL, but he has his own problems, and his own difficult situation at home,... more>> so when he thinks that someone really finally loves him for himself, despite his flaws, he invests in returning that (non-existent) unconditional love wholeheartedly. Isn't he pitiful. I know the author intends it to be humorous, but the ML is literally just used as the fl's lucky koi and golden finger - he isn't really even his own person. He just needs to be grateful for being able to attract such an intelligent, beatiful, and perfect woman even if it's through a misunderstanding and continue to do everything in his power to not get thrown away like the other people in her life that have lost their value.

And the FL is quite decisive in acting for her own benefit. She 'likes' her fiance in her original life, but when she realizes that he's not lucky enough, she decisively abandons him despite acknowledging that he's never really done anything unforgivable to her. Even when he helps speak up for her to her family, she just sees it as what she deserves because she's treated him to so much of her home cooked food previously. She really can only see the world and relationships as a series of transactions. She gives her family so much effort in her first life, so she expects a return from them. When she realizes the returns isn't worth her effort, she decisively switches targets to someone else. I think the "luck tree" personifies her life philosophy. It allows her to accurately judge if she's getting the proper return on her investment into her relationships.

That's another thing that strikes me as off in this story. Perhaps I've just read too many counterattack stories, but there's no such thing as free lunch. How is it possible to increase someone's luck without subtracting someone else's? The whole concept sounds like a scam. Even the way the system describes it, as using scenes to boost the fl's popularity with audience, hints that this probably means decreasing the attention to someone else. The wifi analogy is the same - if you heavily leech off someone's wifi with video stream and online games, you'll likely slow down their connection. Finally, I have to disagree with the consensus on how awful the biological family is. They tried everything they could to get back their daughter. Sometimes, when the book's perspective changes, it's possible to get glimpses of how the situation looks from their perspective. They want to do well by the daughter they've raised, but also try to care for the biological daughter they don't fully understand. There's going to be misunderstandings, and biases, because they gravitate towards believing the child they've raised over the less familiar biological daughter. Things that the daughter does differently will initially feel strange and wrong to them, but over time, they'll grow to like it and care for the daughter. Is it really their responsibility to immediately understand, cater to, and deeply love a stranger, even if it's a biologically related one? I honestly don't know what they've done to deserve being cut off by the biological daughter. They're biased, sure, but I think from their perspective, it's probably quite hard to see this. And this doesn't seem to be the main reason for the FL leaving. Because if it was, when they realized their mistake, she would give them a chance. Instead, it's because they can't provide her with the luck she needs, so they aren't worth her effort. Sure, she has no obligation to forgive them, but they also had no obligation to favor her just because she put in the effort in her first life.

Perhaps I'm just very biased, but no family is perfect. And discarding family because the relationship is hard, or because they can't read each other's mind, or intuitively understand each other's perspective, feels a bit juvenile. Sure, everyone has to be willing to take that initial step towards trying to understand each other and speak honestly. But that's not going to help any luck tree grow, so what's the point. <<less

The first novel that I have read start to finish in a really long time.

Translation and writing-wise: Perfect 10/10. No mistakes. No long-winded paragraphs about unnecessary business stuff and perfect length details for emotional scenes and world building.

Characters:

MC: In these kinds of stories, I think there are 2 types of good MC's

    1. The "I'm going to actively plot revenge on those who wronged me."
    1. Or the "I'm going to leave and live my best life without caring about them anymore."
(MC is number 2). She rarely does face slapping, even if she can because they don't matter and it's kinda refreshing to see this type of pace in the story.

ML: He's not a strong, handsome, smart, super perfect" type of guy that is usually the ML in these things. He has the character flaws that an 18 year old with family issues should have.

Romance: It's great. The main thing I want to say is that they do "misunderstandings" perfectly. Sometimes they do the misunderstanding and it gets solved in a logical and clever way. Sometimes they hint at it, but then they subvert expectations and the MC's are grown enough to trust/communicate effectively.

Antagonists:

Family:
Spoiler

They were in the wrong and they actually learn their lesson. They learned that they treated the real daughter super poorly. And they learn that relatively quickly (the brothers learned it way faster than their mother.) The lesson of "It's too late" was ironically, learned very late. THey keep on trying to win the MC back, but in a half-handed way until the very end.

[collapse]

Other Daugher: She's not a "super evil, I hate the MC for no good reason" type of character.
Spoiler

Honestly, She's almost as innocent as the MC in most of the story. She was beloved to the family and never purposefully caused trouble until things started changing for the worst. In total, there are only 2 times where she goes 'hate-able'. One is legitimate and the other one is at the very end when she kinda goes crazy. Besides being jealous, she was getting a lot of unnecessary hate from the other characters "

[collapse]

2 small parts I liked that I want to mention:
Spoiler

1. There is a "point system" that rewards the MC for staying near and interacting with the "lucky people" to negate her "villain unluckiness". This creates the expectation that she will interact with multiple "love interests" and create some artificial drama. Long story short, not the case. She sticks with ML and keeps it that way.

[collapse]

Spoiler

2. There is a good chunk of the romantic story that never mentions the "point system". I found it to be very pleasing to see a romantic scene and not have the MC be like "Nice! 12 more points!". It really helped the flow of the romantic development be more natural and helps see the feeling between them as genuine

[collapse]

The thing I hate the most:
Spoiler

The family sometimes sob saying stuff like "If only we kicked out the adopted daughter" or, "Why did we choose the fake daughter?" and other things in the later chapters that I don't want to spoil. Point is, they blame the adopted daughter for clearly THEIR OWN TERRIBLE BEHAVIOR when they should be self-reflecting, instead of pointing fingers.

[collapse]

Supporting characters are a 10/10. Friend characters are fun to see, They have personalities and aare helpful. Previous "Antagonists" pop up again and play a fun part of the story. They are not just forgotten after some face slapping moments.

Really good story. Had some clever twists. Face slapping scenes were fun, but theCharacter and Romance development was the #1 part of the story.

The novel isn't bad, it's light-hearted with just enough of drama to be tear jerking

What I did not like:

I don't excuse Zhao Yuan behavior but it is justifiable. She is young and felt insecure more than that, the entirety of the Zhao family disgust me. Neither their behavior toward MC or their behavior toward Zhao Yuan showed love and the bond of family. I have in my family adopted children, and not once did any member of my family stop considering as family due to bad behavior or even stop... more>> looking out for them when their life took a bad turn.

Also the trope of if one is lucky the other is by default out of luck is tiring. So a child who has been good and pampered all her life turn into a psycho-maniac green tea bit*h? So a rich family can not find other way to accommodate one more child?

What I did like:

I like that MC wasn't focus on revenge, after seeing her family heartlessness, she decided to take back all of effort and love and to move on.

Spoiler

I also like the fact that MC did not forgave them. Too often in novel after a bit of remorse is shown by the family, the MC forgive and everything can be forgiven because it's the fault of X wicked character. In my eyes unless it's by use of supernatural means, the behavior shown before by the family is indicative of their true nature

[collapse]

The romance is great but ML family background has been a been flattened for the sake of ending the story, it feels a bit rushed and not fleshed out enough.

Anyway this is a good read that I would recommend. <<less

I love the main couple but you can't escape their immaturity & cringe worthy moments since it's a highschool romance.

Some low points :

1. I felt extremely uncomfortable with how she cut off her lil bro. Tbh his actions were dictated by the author; I felt more inclined to blame the author. This did not excuse her family's behaviour at all, but he out of everyone seriously self reflected and was the most remorseful for his actions. AND he tried to make up for his wrongdoings, albeit too late.

The rest of... more>> the Zhao family could rot for all I care. They were so fickle with their affections. They had already hurt the fl, why would they repeat the same mistakes and isolate the "fake daughter" afterwards? I thought they would self reflect and learn to treat BOTH daughters with love and respect. If they had initially taught the "fake" how to accept the FL and fostered their sisterly bond, there was no need for the girls to compete. Anyway them abandoning the "fake" after "cherishing" her for 2 years was vile not admirable.

2. I'm disappointed that ml's trauma was never addressed. His family was utter tr*sh.

  • His grandfather was a delusional psychopath for treating a CHILD as an emotional & physical punching bag
  • His mother needed medical help. (It saddens me when characters blame kids for the loss of their beloved partner. Instead of cherishing the product of their love as their partners would probably wish for.)

Yes, yes. I'm very happy for the FL turning her life around and finding love. Story was nicely written. Wasn't dragged on for too long, and the pacing was great for it only being 70 chapters.

Now, on to the importantly glaring part that I would like to comment/complain about.

Unpopular opinion, but:

Spoiler

Personally, I don't think that Zhao Yuan deserved getting kicked out of the house with nothing because of her biological mother's actions. Yes, she was a villain and did underhanded things to be better than the FL. But she really did not have anything to do with her mother's actions in switching the children at birth. The family kicked her out after realizing what happened because they couldn't bear their own actions in favoring her over their own biological daughter when the switch was intentional. She was used to this lifestyle for 18 years. In reality, it's is extremely difficult to change one's lifestyle in a blink on an eye. Yes, definitely she deserved retribution for her past actions, but her actions weren't that bad for her to get kicked out with nothing. Imagine spending 18 years to raise her and immediately throwing her away because she was the culprit's daughter who intentionally switched the babies. You'd expect them to still have a little pity on her and give her some money to live off and cut her off the family.

I can also understand Zhao Yuan's actions. Considering that the Zhaos still placed a lot of importance on blood relations, her finding out that she was not their real children was scary. She was scared to be abandoned because the real daughter arrived. She could already feel slowly that the family was beginning to turn back on her. She did petty and small things because she was jealous. I agree that her friends bullying the FL and her not saying anything when FL's name gets slandered is wrong, but she was jealous. She was also a sheltered child. I don't think she's as bad as people think she is. Yes, she was definitely in the wrong, but we should also blame the Zhao family. They were extremely impartial to her instead of being fair. I don't think Zhao Yuan deserves all the faults, because a big chunk of it really was the Zhao's and how they raised the children. Yes, Zhao Yuan did petty little green tea things, but honestly she had no power and the only thing she wanted to do was keep herself where she was.

It's just really sad how the Zhao family dropped Zhao Yuan like a hot potato and she spiraled down.

If you're looking for a light-read school life/ modern/rom-com/angst, this is undoubtedly one of the best cnovel. I'm currently reading it for the second time, but still gives me the rollercoaster of emotions as I did before in 2020.

Instead of the cliché stories of getting revenge, the FL just doesn't give a damn, hakhak. It's about her having her second chance of life and not wasting time for those people who don't even care about her (or at least that's what she thought).

I love how she stopped doing things for... more>> her family and stopped chasing the guy she liked before. Now, the reverse card is happening. Ah, the satisfaction. She's paired with a tsundere ML who's really hot and cool but cute. By all means, he's a green flag.

There's a lot of misunderstanding going around. Communication is the key, but a portion of angst is exactly why I'm in it XD The humor is great. The romance build up is cute. The characters are so fine. And the way the author writes it makes me feel each word.

I've read lots of novels and manhwa, but this one definitely outshines the rest. It's underrated. Every weebs must know this. <<less

Good story if tropey. While the story uses common tropes and setting the author actually wrote a unique story. The characters while familiar, are unique enough to feel different from other swspped at birth stories on NU. Tropes aren't bad if they're used as a framework using the readers familiarity to quickly build the story. Just that too many authors write lazy copycats.

What makes the story standout are the characters. The FL while pretty and studious isn't obsessed with looks or her studies and is a bit fiery. Other than... more>> her excessively good looks she feels like someone you could actually meet. The ML isnt the used to death cold CEO type. He's actually a likabl, cute tsundere and I normaly hate tsundere characters. Too often tsunderes are poorly written, annoyingly rude, flat 2D caricatures

Spoiler

I love that the ML was a secondary character in the Orig with a personality and setting that would usually be written as a villain or supporting ML who doesnt get the girl. It feels great for this poor character type to finally get a happy ending!

[collapse]

As for the authors attitude towards adopted children I don't think it's as bad as other reviewers interpret it.

Spoiler

Remind reviewers the author writes the MC's adopted situation very lovingly. The Mc's childhood in the mountains with the villagers and grandma who adopted her are all positive. The Ori/FL's situation is much more complicated.

It's stated a few times that the father is old fashioned with a higher fixation of bloodkin than modern generations. Even so, the father and the rest of the family were happy with keeping the Ori/FL after discovering she wasn't their real child before things fell apart and some harsh truths came out.

The author reiterates throughout the story how the Ori/FL super good luck/heroine halo made those around her either dumb stepping stones or blindly pampering sycophants. It litteraly messed with their thinking to benefit the Ori/FL. This unfortunately made things worse as by the time MC's luck increased enough to offset Ori/FL's halo things had long developed way past a point to reconcile things: The fallout from the truth behind the swap, the disappointment/shock of seeing the Ori/FL's flawed personality/deception, and the horror/realization of the extreme/mindless bias towards the Ori/FL all happened in a very short period of time and left them overwhelmed. This created a strong lashback against their adopted child the Ori/FL who they originally cared greatly for. Had their thinking not been influenced by the heroine's halo things would have been handled differently and many issues would never have happened. The family members aren't dumb and the author strongly suggested that their behaviors and thoughts were impacted and changed how they would have otherwise handled things.

That said, Ori/FL's halo left her character very weak and underdeveloped so it's understandable that she made the poor choices she did in her panic at change. She never had to be held accountable or do any real character building since her halo made everyone mindlessly spoil her. Unfortunately for her, her family was too overwhelmed/hurt to have the emotional/mental energy to help guide her through her poor choices. Especially since her bad actions were part of the burden making them overwhelmed.

Long story short, the heroine's halo had a negative impact on everyone and the family's repeated mentions of blood vs adopted was more out of horror at realizing their blindly s*upid actions under the halo's effect leading them to grossly mismanage things and abuse their blood daughter leading things to become unreconcilable.

I adore this novel with my whole heart. The FL is great and the ML is simply the BEST. It's so sweet how much he cares for her. I also like how she doesnt forgive the people who treated her so badly in her first life.

The only thing that kinda bothered me was that the system was pretty much forgotten half way through but otherwise it's a perfect story.

I read it because I wanted some face slapping, people regreting treating badly the MC while they walk away and make a new happy life for themselves. And it didn't disapoint.

The ML is sweet and I love their interactions. The MC does things by herself and doesn't need to hide under ML shadow. It's a pretty casual read and the MC doesn't face much difficulty.

However...

Spoiler

1. At the start of the novel the MC is offended about how in the ori!novel she is portrayed as a brainless, malicious villainess. The author didn't take into account her situation, traumas or feelings, making her a one dimension character with the sole purpouse of being a stepping stone. Well, since the author criticized this I thought the villainess in this reality will be the oposite of this. I was wrong. The ori!FL can be accurately described like that.

2. The system is unnecesary, literally just appear once every 5 charapters and has no real weight in the plot, it's not centered in the system like other novels, makes me wonder why the author kept it.

3. During all the novel the idea that blood relations matter more than anything is very present. The family starts thinking less and keeping things from the adopted daughter because at the end of the day she is not their blood. Yeah they loved her and raised her for 18 years, but... Mingxi is their blood daughter! How could they prioritize an strangers child over their real family?! The mother has a conflict because she realizes that her daughter and son left home all because of a child who was not her blood and as such, it wasn't worth it.

4. Remember the villainess and her accurate description? Well, yeah, poor thing, has as many brain cells as an ameba. She is just an spoiled brat, she cries when something doesn't go her way and wants all the attention on herself. She is insecure her family will love Mingxi more since she is their bio daughter, probably had an identity crisis when she found out she was adopted and feared she will be trhown away, but it is never explored. She is just written as an stepping stone, an idiot who doesn't know what's good for her, there's 0 character growth for her. Like the author was afraid giving her some good qualities or a functioning brain would steal the spotlight from MC. This is even more evident when we see that nobody is as beautiful as MC and the villainess "doesn't dare compete with her in looks".

5. There's no character growth on the family. Other than expressing regets and wanting to do better for MC that is. This whole situation started because they are toxic. They view blood relationships as more worthy in their hearts, that's why they always payed more attention to ori!fl, because they felt guilty for thinking that about the daughter they raised and thus they treat Mingxi as an scapegoat. After Mingxi left they treated the villainess more and more like a stranger, always justifying themselves, until they discarded her like tr*sh when they found out what her mother had done. They all need teraphy, glad MC went far away from them.

6. The same as 5. They regret so much, never going forward, that it gets repetitive and boring. It's like a good joke repeated six times, it was fun at first, maybe also the second time, but then it got more and more 'meh'. I just want to see more interactions between ML and MC.

All in all is a good read if you want to feel the satisfaction of the evildoers regreting and not getting MC back. <<less

i'll give you more of an honest, down-to-earth, reality check review from my personal perspective because as much as I do respect the opinions of others on this novel, 5 stars is wayyyy overrating this from my standards. for me, a few things that make a 5 stars webnovel is a one with fleshed-out characters that are well rounded/complex (aka not a flat, OP, flawless, golden spoon mc), a complex well-developed plot without over the top explanation or unexplained plot holes, and no messed up ideal incorporated into the story... more>> to make the MC more OP.

Spoiler

the last element I'm referring to, is the complete villainization of the adopted daughter. although I do agree that she deserves karma and is not a good person, ultimately, like all CN villainesses she's simply reduced to the one-dimensional character that is a white lotus and everyone turns on her. in my opinion, this trope is overrated and overused -- I want some well-rounded villainesses that have brains, emotional complexities, and the possibility of redemption.

but basically, the idea that adopted children are below biological children is very very heavily supported in this webnovel ; whether for the plot or the author's personal belief, either way, I think it's pretty messed up and made me kind of pity the villainess. her "family" is the one who spoiled her and partially set the example to treat the MC badly, yet they place the majority of the blame on her and basically abandon her for their "real daughter". I get that the villainess was in the wrong, but after seeing how the family easily abandoned her despite treating her like family for 18 years, I understand her anxieties (especially as they were proven right). how can they just throw away their daughter like that, even if she is adopted? adopted or not, they chose to raise her as their daughter, they need to take responsibility for that and not just throw her away because they prioritize the biological daughter all of a sudden. (especially after the biological daughter chose to cut ties with them and did not even want their attention). again, not saying she doesn't deserve karma, what she did was wrong, but her "family" wasn't right either.

some other things I disliked was how the MC got prettier and prettier each day and no one was as pretty as her, so people started liking her more (bro I'm so sick of this trope, like authors please please stop putting so much emphasis on this, we GET IT. it reminds me of me as a child writing a book, imagining I was the MC.) and also how the MC suddenly got so great at studying and became super smart, beating the years of efforts other students made and becoming number 1 in the province..... maybe it's because ik how much you have to work to get academic success being a student myself and the MC just magically studying and easily getting it on the first try... it's just way too unrealistic and again... cliche. however, I get it, it's a typically CN webnovel, OP mc's and overly exaggerated face slappings are to be expected.

[collapse]

anyways, just a quick summary of my dislikes is that the characters are very one-dimensional without any depth or complexities, and the plot and character tropes are extremely cliche (typical OP MC and face slapping scenes).

however, one positive note was that I did think that the relationship between the MC and the ML was cute, as cliche as they were.

overall, if you want a simple, easy read with a typical OP MC and face slapping scenes, it's the novel for you. however, if you want a webnovel with a well developed plot and characters that are well rounded, I suggest looking elsewhere. <<less

The story was really sweet. Perhaps had it been any other day, I would rate this 4 but atm I'm just too focus on the unrealistic elements in the story that I can't unsee or ignore them to enjoy the plot properly.

WARNING: If you just want a quick romance story with a bit face slap and comedic plots, then don't click the first spoiler, The first spoiler is the unrealistic elements I am uncomfortable with, the second one is for the overall story. ^^
Spoiler
    • Disparity and unrealistic sibling love. Usually I tend to ignore this element, however since the story heaily talks about siblings relationship, I can't just skip it. To be fair, I did enjoy the slow development of changes in the brothers and how they had their own personal reason for keeping a distance with the fake daughter. My main problem is the questionable parts and this sort of expectation that brothers should treat sisters like this pearl in their hand? Questionable parts include the younger brother hating fake daughter cause he can't keep a cat cause latter is allergic to cat (you're 15, for crying out loud, at least you should be aware how dangerous allergies can be) and moments where elder brother was sad cause he felt as if he is obligated to take care of MC and treat her like how he treat the fake daughter. Bro, you're not the father, heck before worrying that you are treating MC unfairly, have you forgotten you have a younger brother too that you also never did the same thing??? Honestly, the younger brother's situation is just screaming to me how CN writters has this "daughters are jewel, sons are shits" mentality. Which been pissing me off, these days and unfortunately this novel has to come along.
    • MC GOD-LIKE COOKING SKILL. Let's get real here. Can you expect someone raised in the countryside, and further develop their cooking for 2 years in a wealthy family match Gordon Ramsay? EXACTLY. Let's ignore that foods in a cafeteria as
the principal definitely did not consider there are wealthy kids with golden spoon in their mouth in the campus despite having a special class for them whoopps-

but the entire bs of MC being so good at cooking that everyone who eats it can't bear to eat other stuff is really too shit.
    • GREAT AT STUDYING.
Same as the previous bullet point. -.- But I get it, plot and face slapping -whatever.

Spoiler

Overall, the story is the cliche MC is the real genuine daughter of a wealthy family who was reborn to kick the fake daughter's ass and face slap her consciously or unconsciously. The difference is that ML is such tsun.

This is honestly such a rare novel especially considering it's a Chinese one. All the characters had IQ, from major to minor they had the ability to think for themselves. None of the side characters are over blinded by jealousy or dead brained when they pick on the MC, even when they woke up from their behavior the characters are written with very human feelings. Each character also had their own morals and common sense. If I was to rate each aspect, it'll be 10/10 for the plot, 10/10 for... more>> development, 10/10 for character relationships 10/10 novel details. It's very down to earth and in no way is it boring to read. You'll at some point feel sweet from the cute interactions between ML and FL, you'll sometimes cry from the misfortune of people. This novel is really relatable and I highly recommend it, I honestly doubt you'll regret reading it once you start. It's a melodrama but it's satisfactory because of how the plot advance and how the author wrote the novel everything that occured seemed right. Some people might find it off putting that the chapters might not be in the 1000s but honestly with this type of quality I'm more satisfied after reading this than all of those long novels. I honestly thank the author from the bottom of my heart for writing such a good novel. <<less
