Pre-transmigration, MC was a cunning and intelligent but sickly emperor who spent his few waking moments either doing his duties as emperor or 'raising' the vicious but innocent guard dog ML. ML was manipulated by MC into the position of his successor, but ML didn't resent him and was only angry that MC left him behind. He somehow became a transmigrator, but rebelled against his system and started causing trouble, entering different worlds and learning from them before destroying them. MC's soul was retrieved by the system to calm him down, and that's where the story starts.

The first arc is pretty funny since ML has changed so much that MC can't figure out it's him. He has turned from a cold "stone" general, to a charming "hero of the people". Their relationship initially seems like the usual almost-yandere gong forcing the weak shou, but after MC finds out it's him, ML becomes like a harmless puppy bringing home all kinds of treats to MC, hoping to be praised and patted.

Some things that I really like which subverts the usual CN danmei tropes:

• It subverts the usual qt format by making the focus still on the original world, with a lot of flashbacks to their pre-transmigration lives, and the world hopping as simply an extension of their story.
• ML falls in love first and MC initially has no romantic feelings for him, but he recognises ML's sacrifices for him and he wants to at least try to learn to love him.
• Surprisingly not xenophobic! At one point in the first arc they encounter Western traders, and the narration is all praise for the food and wondering what their culture is like. It's surprisingly respectful for a CN novel.
