I Have A Pair of Yin-Yuan Eyes

On a certain day, Xu Xing suddenly received yin-yuan eyes; he could see a red string between lovers. Then he discovered that he had a tight connection to his own left hand.

Xu Xing: I TM …… will I be ‘solo’ for life? : )

The second day.

Xu Xing suspected that he had seen a pair of ‘gay’s. The left side of the boy’s body had two red strings. The one in front was tied to his hand, the one in the back was tied to the boy’s right side.

The bottom of Xu Xing’s body suddenly tightened. Trembling in fear, he turned his head — only to see his ‘local area’ connected to a red string tied into a beautiful, intimate bow that was attached to the school grass sitting behind him ~

Xu Xing: Excuse me???

Why the hell is this rated so damn low?? Which blind person did this?? Don't look at the ratings, this is an uber cute novel!

Cute school-life setting BL with multiple straight as well as gay pairings. I would've liked it more if there was a lesbian pairing as well, but it's alright.

The MC can see red strings connecting people, it isn't exactly fate but love (kind of hard to grasp in MTL). He comes to realize that the school grass aka ML, is connected to him. One string connects... more>> the ML's dong to his own butt. ? Trouble ensues when the red string attempts to bring those two together for the first couple of chapters and the rest is history. The ML mistakes MC's "deliberate" attempts to catch his attention as MC liking him.

The good news is that the ML is a sweetheart, not a yandere, cute and supports the MC. Their relationship is as healthy as it can be. There are multiple pairs like I mentioned earlier but you wouldn't see the exact ending of all of them but you would get hints of their happy endings. :) It's a HE, with little angst or family drama. Their banter is cute and fun. I recommend it. <<less

I love it so far. Reminds me a bit of Don't You Like Me, but instead of seeing ghosts, the main character seems the red strings of fate. It's especially funny when he sees a string connecting the ML's c*otch to his own butt. XD

The translator writes well, and the editor did a great job. I thoroughly recommend this.

It's pretty interesting. The MC sees these red lines that connects people, they are kinda like how they feel about each other, like crush, dating, or in love, etc. The MC is a bit of a tsundere and the ML is like a wife s*ave. How the MC get together and their relationship is really cute. It makes me think of "don't you like me" without the ghost and the MC is more tsundere.

The biggest issue with this novel is that it's only about 40% about the MC and ML,... more>> there is many many many side characters and side couples. In almost every chapter, half the chapter is about the other characters but they are not very well developed and kind of one dimensional. Most of the time you don't even really care about them. There is too much drama with them, too many breakups. Sometimes the author would talk about one couple and then forget them for 20 chapters and then bring them back up and by then you already forgot who they are.... Honestly besides the best friend and the chubby friend, all the other side characters are forgettable. <<less

It's actually alright tbh. The MC learns more about love along the way. In case if you're wondering abt the side pairings.

Spoiler

Not every pairing is successful, for example: Fu Dai & Xiong Huan. They actually had feelings for each other however due to some reason (I forgot) Fu Dai had to go to overseas. The MC actually cut the red thread off from Fu Dai (if I rmb correctly) though in the end Fu Dai can't forget her.

[collapse]

The story of Fu Dai liking Xiong Huan is cute though.
Spoiler

It all started out with a bet or smth that Fu Dai had to confess to Xiong Huan. At first Fu Dai didn't thought much of it however when he confessed, Xiong Huan blushed & became flustered while she rejected him. She even said "Thank you for liking me. " To him while blushing before she ran away. When Fu Dai saw this he was quite shocked & felt that her reaction was too cute & started liking her.

To the main cp
Spoiler

ML told MC to give him some time to adapt & think abt accepting him (when ML thought that the MC liked him). ML likes to act coquettishly towards the MC, MC ended up falling in love with him. However MC thought that it's all due to the red thread, if the knot is untied the ML won't like him anymore. Which he rlly did ended up untying the knot. The MC & ML ended up being strangers once again. MC felt sad as he can't help but remember the times they spent together etc.

[collapse]

In the end
Spoiler

The ML got into a fight, his friends brought him along which greatly angers the ml. It turns out that the opponent the gangster leader, Yi Ze is the MC sister's boyfriend. Which he told the MC to keep this as a secret, in exchange he'll not tell her that the MC skipped class. When everyone left, the MC proceed to ask if the ML is alright since he's injured. ML didn't replied at first, MC went to ask again & ML told MC that he's in extreme pain. MC frowned & told ML that they should go the hospital, proceed to drag ML but he did not move. ML then said" its not my hand that's in pain, it's my heart. Can the doctor save me?" MC then kissed him & asked if he's still in pain. After that they made up.

[collapse]

Spoiler

In the end ML knew abt MC ability to see red thread & has the ability too. &Amp; it's back to the fluffy moments between MC & ml. The ending is everyone graduating.

Great recommend ?

I can't explain much because I dont wanna spoil anything, but here's my short review:

Love has many types, and the author portrays romantic love in a pretty great example, and that is the red string.

The summary is very funny, but when I got invested in the story, I felt that the author had use a concept that was pretty generic but it had a slight twist that makes you still stay and read more about it.

I really don't know what to say about this story so I won't rate it. It's the kind if a story where you see a huge potential but the author doesn't explore them and just lets the story follow the mainstream BL route — ML is crazy about MC, or the other way around, a s*ave to love, and only thinks about intimacy all day long.

MC can freaking see the red lines so logically speaking, the story SHOULD have focused on other couples depicted all kinds of unique love while... more>> focusing on MC's own romance. But does it? No! There are some side stories for sure but all of them are written in a half-assed way. None of them have a good conclusion.
Spoiler

There are a handful of potential side couples but none of them get together. What a sad thing!

[collapse]
It's such a waste that MC is able to see red lines but it isn't put into much use. His analysis of red lines is also very shallow. Apart from MC being able to see red lines, everything about the story is the usual high school romance story — read and read for college entrance exam.

Also, ML's character is so shallow. He simply doesn't have a personality. It's like he was born to love MC and nothing else. At least when he was introduced first, he had a bit of a temper and acted like a teenager. But the more he got entangled with MC, the more he lost his personality. He didn't have thoughts apart from wanting to be with MC all the time. This kind of 2D, or should I say 1D, character as a lead character really makes me sad when the side characters are more human than him. He is like a program who was designed to love MC and apart from that, he is just a robot.

I have never read a book where one of the main characters was the 'class monitor' so it was a bit novel. But what if he was the monitor? It wasn't used in any way. I personally believe that whatever is introduced in the story should be fully utilized. So if the author makes MC a class monitor, and not a delinquent, or a sportsperson, or a normal student, then the author should use it for plot advantage. Sadly it didn't happen.

In a sense, I am thoroughly disappointed with the story because it has the potential to be a nice story. It's not unreadable though. It's not 'high-quality tr*sh' but its definitely 'could have been high-quality but turned out to be mediocre' kind of novel. <<less

I actually really adore the main character, Xu Xing. While he may seen too impulsive or tsundere at first because of the multiple 'misunderstandings' that bring him and Lu Che together, you can see that he really cares for his loved ones. He remembers their likes/dislikes, tries to accommodate their preferences, and shows concern silently.

Spoiler

For example, when Lu Che first comes over to his house and doesn't eat much at dinner because his tastes don't match the food at their house (e.g. He doesn't eat fish because of the trauma of fishbones in his childhood), Xu Xing quietly tells his parents, who prepare Lu Che's favorite dishes whenever he comes over from then on. Then that night, he brings Lu Che out to a kebab stall with the excuse of a "midnight snack" although he is not hungry, because he knew that Lu Che did not eat enough.

[collapse]

And when Xu Xing is honest, he makes you fall in love with him all over again, as Lu Che does again and again.

Spoiler

When Lu Che jokes that he is willing to be Xu Xing's "accessory, " Xu Xing immediately disagrees and states that Lu Che is not. Because Lu Che is indispensable to him. He is priceless and someone he is extremely grateful to have next to him.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Xu Xing ends up staring at his fat friend's girlfriend whenever she appears due to the red string, and Lu Che notices. When he verbalizes his insecurity, Xu Xing immediately puts himself in the point of view of Lu Che and thinks about how he would feel if Lu Che stared at another girl like he did (without knowing about the red string). Then he states, since I stared at that girl for 12 seconds, I will look at you for 120 seconds, 10 times the amount of time. Because I want to take away your insecurity, and I only know how to express it through my actions.

[collapse]

These are some of the examples that really make me love Xu Xing. He is so sensible and reasonable; although he is angry that Lu Che teases him due to his misunderstandings at the beginning, he admits that he must appear the unreasonable person in a bystander's point of view. Although somewhat tsundere at first, when he opens up his heart to Lu Che, he is such a considerate lover.

Truly, while I also like Lu Che and love their interactions (which wouldn't have progressed if Lu Che wasn't willing to continue approaching despite Xu Xing's th**ny and rejecting exterior), I feel that Lu Che is truly blessed to meet someone like Xu Xing. He says so himself. Of course, Xu Xing is blessed to meet Lu Che as well, someone who is willing to devote himself to his loved one completely. However, I sometimes feel that Lu Che is too unrealistic/idealistic of a "boyfriend" or "wife-s*ave, " which may be why I prefer Xu Xing. But fictional characters are there to be enjoyed~

A note on the side characters. I think they were well fleshed out, and I had little trouble remembering their names because they each had their own distinctive personality/role in the novel. As the author's comments stated, most of the couples and characters are there to help Xu Xing grow and understand what love is, how to approach it, and how to cherish it.

Spoiler

The side stories at the end summarize HE/open endings:

[Ch.97-98] Fu Dai (rich second generation) and Xiong Huan (cold class flower) are admitted to the same college. During the first class reunion after graduation, Fu Dai arrives when Xiong Huan finally confesses her love in front of everyone.

[Ch.99] Wang Zicong (Xu Xing's fat friend) and his beautiful ex-girlfriend get together after he overcomes his insecurities by losing weight. Little tid bit shows that his girlfriend is actually very rich.

[Ch.100] Ke Di (sports guy with a string of girlfriends) and Zou Mang (good sports buddy with good academics) have a rift in their relationship after Zou Mang reports to a different academic college after promising to attend a sports college together. Ke Di breaks up with his girlfriend, who was Zou Mang's previous white moonlight. Although they don't have a red string together, Zou Mang is shown to actually like Ke Di, who remains oblivious. Another extra states that red strings may not show up because they are "hidden, " like in this case. Zou Mang does not confess, but there is an open ending leaning towards a possible pair between them.

[Ch.103] Xiao Shun (timid shou) and Jiang Jize (his crush who had the other end of the string tied to his c*otch) have an open ending too. Jiang Jize finds him interesting because Xiao Shun is an "extremely pessimistic optimist." I.e. Jiang Jize and his friends say that they sleep naked and ask if Xiao Shun does. He replies no because it would be terrible if he suddenly died in his sleep and his parents discovered his body, which was naked. Jiang Jize is the only one that laughs.

[collapse]

Overall, great slice-of-life novel with character development. I truly adore Xu Xing and Lu Che together. I'd say the novel actually gets better after the first "arc" of misunderstandings as the couple gets closer together. <<less

Cute and funny.I liked the main characters. MC is a tsundere and ML is sweet, not like cold and loves MC a lot.

But the real problem is there are too many side characters. I hate when the story is most about the side characters and the side characters don't have much personality. They just come and go and then suddenly appears after a long time. Like the side cp Xiao siao and Jiang. They were mentioned in first few chapter and then they were Forgotten. They came back again at... more>> the end of the novel. Most of the side characters are like that. Forgotten and suddenly appear. Most of the chapters are about them so sometimes it feels like the story is just dragging. <<less

I did not like MC and ML at first. ML somehow gets on my nerves while MC is boring in my opinion. But I found the plot really interesting plus it's pretty funny.

After that, I saw MC and ML in new light. ML is really sweet. I liked him so much because I love how doting he is. MC is a slight tsundere and is very soft-hearted to people he cares about. I love how he does not get swayed easily by his emotions and tries to think rationally first.... more>> They are actually really cute together!! Funny how they can make each other blush xD. The characters are also entertaining and they have chapters focused on their relationships.

Other things I like:

Spoiler
  • The development of Xu Xing and Lu Che. Y'all it was fun to see their relationship grow! Xu Xing is not always honest with his feelings but he reflects a lot and does his best to show that he loves Lu Che just as how Lu Che loves him.
  • I edited this because I said that the ending is not eventful but nah, it was because I did not actually finished the whole novel lol. The last chapter is wonderful!
  • Fu Dai (the guy who went abroad to study if I am not mistaken) and Xiong Huan reunited aaaaaa!! <3
  • About Ke Di and Zou Mang... this confused me a little bit because it was said that Ke Di knows ZM has feelings for his gf, right?? Turns out, ZM is waiting for their breakup (which eventually happened btw) because the one he likes all along is Ke Di. But I remember that the red line XX saw on ZM is connected to the wrist of KD's gf. So I was ???? For those of you who understood this please enlighten me.
  • Maybe ZM fell for KD later on or maybe it's just my bad reading comprehension (used google translate) lol but yeah, y'all KD/ZM shipper like me, ZM likes KD.
  • I like what Tang Mian said that if you like someone, your body and mind will be ahead of reason.

Gosh the interactions between the main cp can be so frustrating!

Spoiler

Mainly because the MC says one thing, but it's interpreted as something else by the ML. E.g. MC would say "Go away!" Which would then be interepreted by the ML as "Stop! I'm shy~" Ffs!

[collapse]

Throughout the novel, you're constantly wondering when the ML will find out about the red string, or when we the readers learn more about the characteristics of the Yin-Yuan eyes. Which, fyi has not yet happened so far despite the many many chapters gone by (honestly, I still don't know it's effects).

You're wondering if and when the bow is untied?

Spoiler

It finally happens in chapter 75! At this point in time, the two have basically implicitly confirmed their feelings for each other. And you guessed it, after unravelling the bow, the ML recoils in shock and reverts have to his cold self. Yep, as of present, they are once again distant from each other.

[collapse]

Still, we'll have to wait and see how everything unfolds from here! <<less

The synopsis and cover is promising to be funny... It has common troupe but I guess it also has some twist? Bcs there's so many different place of the red string intertwined in human body from this story. Its interesting...

The way author telling the story is a bit jumping the focus, idk maybe just me. And I guess there is many side pairing too. Hope the main pair get proper portion and didn't sided out (?)

Highly recommed this for people who are looking for fluffy romance. It's also exciting because of the red thread and the moment MC finally able to untie the thread will make you feel the emotions and you'll start to wonder what will things go now that 'that' happened. It's really good. It isn't perfect but I love it. It was never boring in my opinion. :))

Finally finished reading!!!

I'm actually in a middle of a one-night reading spree, a nightly activity that I always follow with all my heart, so it is of interest to note that this novel put a sudden stop to that just last night.

The story is very good and fluffy sweet. Amongst the CN school-genre bl, I guess this is one of my favorite. I love the interactions between the characters, the comedy tag is pretty solid on this one.
