Came here from the manga. I'm in the first arc and the premise is interesting. The manga art certainly adds to the storytelling with it's use of pencil style or colours to highlight scenes. (Also chibi Tia is adorable)

The MC is definitely op but I like that he isn't just a robot like character and actually acts like a person, though a cliches one. I enjoyed his banter with Alexis and his relationship with Tia

It could've been a 4 stars because both the translation and the story itself are actually decent obviously there are problems with the characters like the MC who's supposed to be this veteran world hopper 120 years old monster of a being who behaves like a ret*rded 13 years old typical japanese male protagonist most of the time which is what always happens when almost anyone tries to portray these longlived beings but it wasn't that irredeemable until the world around chapters 100-125 came.

Spoiler

When it turned into the absurd typical japanese cliche where the hero gets constantly beaten by the female characters while being called pe*vert and it's supposed to be funny. I don't know why the author did that maybe one of his braindead readers told him it would be a good idea for some "comedy" or he came up with it by himself which would be quite weird considering the fact that he was dodging these cancerous tropes quite decently in the chapters before but it went straight up full ret*rd and I instantly lost my interest. There were hints something like this might happen in the world before with his blacksmithing master because again this veteran of a hero was constantly schooled told how he is wrong and how he is supposed to think and behave and put in his place by characters that usually behave even worse than he does but it wasn't to this extent.

[collapse]

Well end of spoilers it wasn't completely worthless up until that point but considering the novel was something that I found interesting and somewhat new-ish the gradual turn into horsesh*t killed it for me. If your main character can't think for himself and make decisions for himself or god forbid stand up for himself against a FEMALE companion and you let all of this pile up on itself in the end your story no matter how good it was before just loses it's worth for me overtime. Maybe this will help some people with similar thoughts save time. Again the translation is good. <<less

This is a story that starts with a generic, common sounding premise but quickly turns into a very original story after the first couple of arcs.

The author has basically taken dozens of different story ideas for fantasy worlds, heroes and conflicts and put them together in a sort of multiverse. This series is like 'Cautious Hero' where our MC and his companion visit 100 different worlds where they have to help the 'Hero' of that world defeat that world's 'Demon King'.

But this quest can take very different forms from one... more>> world to the next. One world has a generic setting where the Hero is a warrior who goes on a quest to the Demon King's castle. But in another one the 'Hero' is just a blacksmith who wants to make a sword that can one day (maybe long after his death) be used to defeat the Demon King. In another world the Demon King is already dead and the 'Hero' is just an ordinary person trying to prevent his resurrection.

In some worlds the Heroes, even in the 'happy ending' don't actually manage to kill the Demon King in their lifetime but advance mankind's cause in various ways. There are also peaceful worlds where nobody knows if a 'Demon King' even exists, so the MC has to figure out who or where they are and how they relate to the designated Hero's personal struggles.

Finally there is an overarching story that only becomes clear after many such story arcs, about why the MC is doing this quest. <<less

As other reviews had said, the start is pretty generic. But I got hooked in a couple of arcs. It's not the best story there is but it's interesting enough for me.

There are currently about 25+ arcs in the web novels which goes over more or less 10-15 different isekai worlds. All of these worlds has a basic Hero-Demon King premise, but each has a twist or two incorporated into it.

Each arc is not always a new world, it can also involve previous worlds in different twist due to actions taken in later worlds

[collapse]

Other than the basic premise, there's an overarching plot point which can be quite hard to follow (maybe my Japanese is lacking lol) as it spans multiple worlds and arcs. Some actions only become clear after later chapters. Since every world only has 10-15 chapters, world-building is not a very strong aspect but I still like it nonetheless. In terms of story, I'd say it's much better than the generic isekai series scattered around NU. Also, it's not a harem so that's a plus for me most of the time. One more thing that hooked me was the relationship between the MC and the Heroine/Companion (Tia), especially in end of arc chapters. It's really nice even thought the romance is very slow. I won't say that the MC is dense, it's just that there's only a really short time between world-hops.

All in all, it's not the best, but I sure did enjoy it <<less

Early days still, but if the rest of the story is anything like the first bit here it'll be amazing. The author is clearly an experienced author, and man does it ever show at the start here. I implore you to read the first 13 chapters and take a second to appreciate how much the author explains without explaining and what a ridiculously good foundation is laid out. It's wild how great the first intro bit here is, there's an enormous amount of world building and character background and motivation... more>> going on, you can clearly see who the MC is and what his personality is, what kinds of decisions he'll make; I've only read the 15 presently translated chapters so who knows if the author will stick to it all or not, but regardless the author's skill and experience is obvious.

It's an interesting and very unique take on a well explored genre. And the translation is virtually flawless too! Absolutely worth a read, I can't wait to see where this ends up going! <<less

The novel, for the most part, appears ordinary. It starts with a promising beginning but becomes commonplace as the story progresses, mainly due to the predictability of the first plot. With each page read, the enthusiasm diminishes, and the narrative takes on a repetitive tone, indicating a simplistic storyline. It is evident that the author relies on recycled ideas, and the novel lacks innovation. The writing quality is not bad compared to most Japanese novels, and the translation is very understandable. Additionally, the protagonist was not likable to me, as... more>> the saying that "years shape a person" does not apply to him. Despite being over 100 years old, he behaves like a teenager, and the author attempts to justify this with unconvincing explanations. <<less
