“I am the heroine of an otome game, so is it wrong to like the villainess?”

Corporate s*ave OL, Oohashi Rei, reincarnated as the heroine Rei Taylor in the world of the otome game 「Revolution」.

Her preference isn’t the capturable princes, it’s the villainess, Claire François.

She merrily accepts Claire’s dislike.

With the protagonist’s involvement, it’s the beginning of a unique romcom.

To make it worse, Rei’s love became directed at the villainess, what does Claire’s future hold?

It’s my second series with a screwball villainess.

A little different from ordinary… I hope you can enjoy the villainess who’s just a little different.

This story's really fun and great. It's really interesting and has a great impact, especially the comedy. It's gold af. Also, the flow of the novel is quite good. The manga is already released (with only 3 chapters), if you're interested, you should check it out. The characters are quite draw well.

It is rare to find Yuri which is completed and is quality.

It begins on a humorous note. Somewhere along the line we deal with the insecurities of being a homosexual. The romance is well built and FL does not magically fall in love with MC. Everything is taken step by step until we reach our end. Love the character development and steady plot progressions.

Yuri tag is not a click bait so don't worry. The main CP story has reached a conclusive end so you don't have to worry about a... more>> cliffhanger,

The story is interesting even with the same transmigration and otome game theme. The story development doesn't seem force and it keep me reading more.

The characters or cute and they are really enjoyable to read. The characters development and thinking are understandable.

I hope future readers would also enjoy this relaxing and cute story. First time I write a comment so please be kind.

Thanks for reading.

I loved this novel. For the concept, and for the way the story went. I can't say much about the writing, since the translations I read were all done by machine... But... even with that, the story was interesting and exciting enough to shine through and keep me going!

I really hope the light novel does well in Japan. This is a very politically heavy WN, it might have a slice of life elements but MC has a very strong ideological view even though she insists that she doesn’t like politics.

honestly, I would honestly play the effing love out of that otome game because of the good world building it has. Every character is explored and even if they have nothing to do with the romance-plot. It has coherence and consistency when it comes to the storyline which I liked. While it does deal with strong serious themes, it... more>> is a very lighthearted and humor based WN.

The main couple is the best aswell. Claire is obviously a tsundere and starts out completely arrogant, she has gradually has amazing character development during every arc. The protagonist can be described as the class clown at worst and at best is a tactician. The interaction between the two is very entertaining and fun to read. I can proudly recommend this for anyone who wants a good plot with good character dynamics <<less

4.8 outta 5

Emotionally speaking, because I just got done reading through it and currently high off it I want to give it a 5/5 I need to stay realistic here.

World building is great you get absorbed in it the more the story goes along. 4.5/5

... more>> Characters are great though it is mainly focused on just the two (Which are well-written). Nothing too spectacular with the side cast but they have depth. 4.7/5

Plot and Story are brilliant. 4.7/5

The translation is a little odd but doable. Few grammar errors. Highly recommend reading this on the Jingle Translation site. 4.4/5

And there is plenty of content including the extra R-18 chapter (which is accessible in the jingle translation site for a small fee-see to the site for further details) 4.9/5

Overall a brilliant heartfelt character driven story. <<less

For a story that had a transmigrated protagonist with enough information about the game world to become even an emperor, the plot developed in an surprisingly down to earth manner. I am sincerely impressed on how little impact had the premise on the way the story developed and some of the twists were more or less unexpected even for the protagonist. But even so, there are a few big flaws that lowered the quality by quite a bit.

Starting with the story, while we have an interesting premise, a lot of... more>> events are more or less recycled from the majority of light novels you can find a dime a dozen. While from the beginning we understand the protagonist intentions and some of her plans we are discouraged to find out later on that many of these plans are moving in weird directions, either by being overly complicated or too straightforward. The biggest flaw in the end is one excuse from the protagonist, well, an excuse from the writer himself in the end>
Spoiler

We are told that a lot of information even about the most important characters was undisclosed for some reason or another and also that quite a lot of the characters were lesbians. At some point we are fed a homosexual theory that spans two chapters just to somehow force the plot to move forward after stagnating for 30 or so chapters, and by plot I mean the relationship between the protagonist and her 'villain'

[collapse]

Beside these flaws the novel had a good backstory that could have been developed a lot more instead of focusing so much on the characters. Anyway, moving on..

The characters from this story are both the ace of the story and the Achilles heel. The nobles are acting like nobles, planning at every step and either showing no remorse in using humans like objects or being ready to sacrifice everything, absolutely everything to bring a ray of hope. They are the best of the best in terms of characters from this story. Then come the princes with their ability to maneuver both behind the scenes and also in front to obtain more power and stability.
Spoiler

even if one of them had to become a woman just so the story would have another lesbian couple... something that the protagonist says the developers had hidden which is dumb AF, when would a writer actually hide something about their characters till the very end???

[collapse]
.

Going on, after the higher nobility we are stuck with the side characters, characters that act weird at times, forced by the plot in other situations or simply impossible to understand in others. An example for every situation is first the strongest mage that simply screws around with the protagonist before going all sage mode to encourage her, then we have a former childhood friend that suddenly becomes some sort of villain that disappears in less than 2 chapters, and then we have the biggest screw up, the protagonist, capable of doing tons of things behind the scene only the stumble at even the smallest changes in the plot. Acting like a complete madman only to force on us some shitty explication that this was the only to cheer up the love interest, incapable of obtaining more power for herself in a real manner and having to beg at every step for help, disclosing sensitive information in an absolutely ret*rded situation and finally losing control completely and being saved by others to finally reach the conclusion of the story. A character so bipolar is a plain pain the ass to follow as nothing seems to go in the right direction, like a drunk man that has to hit every street light in his way to find the path home. Lastly, the love interest is.. a recycled tsundere. The redeeming factor comes at the end when she is willing to show her true value by facing even a potential death.

Having said this the conclusion is one bittersweet. The amount of yuri novels translated is a lot lower than yaoi, which is why this one obtained a high score even with its more than obvious flaws. Even so, this novel was not only an embarrassing attempt of fan service, but an actual story that moved forward because of the plot and not the protagonist intentions or abilities. For this reason I will rate this at 3.5 star with a 4 delivered to encourage future translations. <<less

story 4.5/5

characters : 4.5/5

translation : 4.5/5

... more>> You got it, this novel is, for me, is almost perfect in every way x)

Let's start from the beginning. I already search though the yuri tag on NU and didn't find this gem from the shoujo-ai tag *_* I was so happy, a completed shoujo-ai novel with a good rating *cross-fingers*

After reading till the middle point, I was already amazed, this is pure diamond there, the story isn't only a romcom, the author is taking a challenge to sensitize the readers to the homosexuals' situation and what's more, there's a plot ! \o/

The story is the classic trope of a girl/women reincarnating into the character of an otome game. This time, it's not into the villainess role but the heroine but since she's lesbian, well... *read title* ^^

The characters are really cute and you grow attached to them pretty quickly. About the MC... She's a total joyous-pervert-masochist-in-love with a tsundere villainess. There's quite a few interesting relationships and tags in this novel like
Spoiler

homosexuality, incest, gender-bend

[collapse]
that makes it a real challenge for the author and a novel that get out of the lot. The story were really interesting in the first romcom part, then the academy part were a bit more hard to read since it's installing the darker big plot of the story. There's a lot of foreshadowing with a good pen-style that makes the suspense grow.

If I had to give a little ranting to this novel, it would be that the ending was a little bit too easy.
Spoiler

The big bad guy having suddenly been s*upid to not prepare for that eventuality.

[collapse]
and that it's written almost entirely with the MC's PoV so we don't really learn how the other characters really think or feels in reality.

otherwise, for a shoujo-ai novel, I just didn't expect this to be this good. The characters are given real personalities and the story is well written with a good style.

5/5, I recommend ^^ <<less

Wonderful.

Simply wonderful.

I read it all in a day and it was great.

An interesting twist to the typical otome game plot, it starts out hilarious and becomes more and more serious as the plot rolls on. Much like a cartoon snowball getting bigger and bigger the further it rolls, we see more hints and foreshadowing of the end.

Spoiler

This country has a French-ish feel. The King is called Rousseau. There's a movement for equality going on. The Otome game is called "Revolution".

Luckily no-one was guillotine'd but it was a close call.

Rejoice, for there is a Good End!

[collapse]

Anyhow, Claire is super cute. Initially a haughty earnest villainess, she goes from 100% Tsun to 100% Dere. Rei's overwhelming harassment love is also funny to read about.

Edit 2/2/20: Wait, there's a part 2??? There's more?! <<less

First review here. Just wanted to share how much I liked this novel.

I've never been one to read yuri or anything like that, but this novel is espetacular. The author, even though made mistakes here and there, was able to express so many different emotions in the story. It was a joy of a reading, a learning experience and it left a mark in me. I cried sometimes, of laughter and of sorrow. The pacing of the romance is also good, not too fast or too slow.

Of course it's not... more>> all gold, some decisions are wacky and plot holes exist, but the core of the story is great.

Spoiler

The ending was particularly satisfactory. It made me feel really good and fulfilled my expectations for the characters. What is really difficult to happen with endings for me.

[collapse]

All in all, I give it a 5/5 based on my own enjoyment. This is just my garbage opinion, but thanks for reading.

I also wanted to give thanks to the translator and the author for giving us this story.

PS: definitely buy the light novel if you can! <<less

It's good, but no one ever cares that the protagonist got isekai'd. Not the protagonist, the people she spills her secret to, and especially the author. It's our initial plot device and constantly held up as foreshadowing/future knowledge, but nobody cares about the issue itself.

A lot of magic world building happens with off-handedly related clues as to what magic might really be and why she's there.

This is not an issue, though. At this point "isekai Otome Villainess" is simply the excuse the story used to get a reader, if everyone... more>> can forget the entire premise from beginning to end and simply enjoy the characters, that would probably be best for all of us. <<less

Having finished the novel, I have got to say it is a great journey. The main character Rei and the love interest Claire have great personality and seeing Rei try to get Claire to fall for her was just hilarious. There are also some great supporting characters within this series as well.

If I have to give a flaw to the series then it's got to the last third of this novel when it starts to get really serious. It feels really rushed and feels like a desperate attempt to just... more>> wrap everything up. In the end it feels like there are a couple plot holes in the end. However it doesn't ruin the whole journey of the series. I highly recommend you to give it a read for yourself and give your own opinion on it. Additionally, in the epilogue the ACTUAL author actually comments as well which is definitely a huge surprise and shows how much the author cared about the readers and the series/. <<less

I don't like the protagonist.

I do not mind the political or gender identity talk, as it somehow matches the game setting. What I dislike was the protagonist forcing her own opinion to the rest of the cast. It's totally ironic how she talked about homosexual can't be judged from one person and that different people with the same background may want different thing. Jump forward several chapter, she force her own view to another character- making a plot that would destroy the character's previous life so that the character have... more>> to life the live the MC believe as the best option. Totally kind of her.

*rant over*

Story wise it was enjoyable as long as you could gloss over the obvious plot holes. It feels like the author simply think the setting as your usual european city without giving the world much consideration. Be prepared stuff/demon/betrayal event could happen anytime and it's all make sense since "that's the event in otome game!". There's no clause and effect at all. Too bad since there's a lot of interesting character. <<less

I was surprised by this story.

A pleasant surprise if I must say so.

The story is very good, its development, the characters, the construction of the world, but the most pleasant thing is... The relationship between the protagonist and her beloved.
First I must say that the protagonist is very nice and funny, although at first I thought she is very sincere with her feelings and maybe a little (masochistic), then she tells more and more of her thoughts and makes him feel truly human.

This is my first Yuri story that... more>> I have read and I liked a lot.

Anyway if you want to read an entertaining story that mixes sweetness and comedy to create a story whose romance is quite charming, then read them. <<less
