Su Yue transmigrated to a novel.

Inside the romance novel, the domineering male lead despised his little wife from the beginning, fought against her, but was willing to give his life to save her when she was in danger.

The two’s lovely love is enviable and admirable.

And Su Yue dressed up as the brainless and vicious female supporting character who married into a wealthy family at the same time as the female lead, despised her husband for being ugly and blind, and fantasized about climbing on the female lead’s husband and Su Yue’s husband’s younger brother’s bed every day, doing everything she could to attack the female lead using despicable methods.

Su Yue, recalling the tragic end of the woman in the book, stated that she didn’t mind that her husband was ugly and blind.

Husband: “If you feel wronged, we can divorce.” The man handed a black card with his slender fingers.

Su Yue raised her beautiful red lips and threw her soft body into the man’s arms. “Do you think you’re being ugly, blind, and have a bad temper, afraid of wronging me? Don’t worry, I don’t mind.”

The ugly, blind, and bad-tempered husband: “…”

Everytime she coaxes her husband and loses five pounds!!!

I have many things to say about this novel *sigh*

The novel starts out good and the first half of the novel or so I would rate 3-4 stars, but it gets increasingly worse with every chapter. I'll go over with what I like about it first:

  1. The romance is very smooth, no misunderstandings and FL and ML act like real adults (ML is questionable though)
  2. Yeah, that's it
So the novel barely has any good qualities that stand out, but it is still entertaining to read and I wouldn't necessarily call it... more>> bad. BUT! There are some things in this novel that make me so mad and annoyed that I simply cannot ignore.

  • The obsession with ugly in this novel:
    • The female lead is described as extremely ugly because of her darker skin tone and due to being overweight (around 75kg or so). At first it didn't bother me too much because I'm used to Chinese novels thinking that 50kg+ is obese and having a skintone darker than snow is ugly, but this novel wouldn't stop choving that perspective down my throat. Every chapter the novel brings up how ugly FL is due to her weight and skintone and everytime I become more disgusted by how the author refers to "fat" people and those with darker skintone. Like please, can you just shut up about it for one second. There is no need to say it every single freaking chapter, thanks.
    • The ML is also extremely ugly due to his scars according to the novel. This also feels incredibly wrong, but it's a Chinese novel what can you expect.
  • The male lead:
    • The ML is not a bad person or anything, but I don't like him due to two things. The first one being that he is way too freaking h**ny. Every chapter after they solidified their relationship he has to kiss the FL and try to have s*x with her. EVERY CHAPTER. I am fine with a somewhat clingy/obsessive ML somewhat, but when that is the only character trait he has, it's extremely freaking annoying. It's like he literally can't function without performing a s*xual act with her at least once a day.
    • Bad father. For some reason Chinese novels think it's cute, funny, quirky etc. When the ML is obsessed with daughters and their wives but negligent towards their sons because they're "males". The ML literally doesn't give two craps about his son and you can argue that he does but just "doesn't show it". IT DOESN'T MAKE THINGS BETTER! I usually don't care when male leads act like this because it's just fiction, but it just makes me so mad knowing that the authors of these novels think it's okay and QuIRky. I don't care if they love their son, but just don't show it. Do you think a 3 year old understands that? NO! All they see is that you are being cold and distant to them which in turn causes the children emotional distress etc. I simply find it disturbing to a certain degree even if it's just fiction.
      Spoiler

The male lead is so disgusted by the thought of having a son that he literally turns pale in disappointment when he thinks that FL only gave birth to a son. He also treats his daughter completely different from his son and I honestly feel like he wouldn't bat an eyelid if his son was mu*dered right in front of him. Even though this is only written about in the last chapters I still get so irritated

      [collapse]
  • The plot literally becomes nonexistant halfway through. This is connected to point 2 about the ML being h**ny af. After they start to get physical in their relationship, every chapter is about them doing something sexual. They either make out or have s*x in every paragraph. The author only throws in some plot like every 5 chapters. Although the s*xual actions are not explicit or anything, they still take up so much space and it's the only thing the author writes about. I would have no problem if it was filled with cute couple interactions, but most of it is just them doing something dirty. I mean, the male lead literally has to mouth feed the FL every chapter for some reason (how is that even cute? It's kinda disgusting).
  • The last chapter (extra). This is the reason why this novel fell from being a 3/5 to a 2/5 and also the reason why I'm so mad.
    Spoiler

The last chapter brings up how the older brother and the younger twin siblings grow up over time. I thought that this was quite cute to read about. The oldest child of ML and FL likes his younger brother more in the beginning. I thought this was nice and it also made up for the fact that the ML favorised his daughter. But of course, the older brother starts thinking that his sister is more cute and eventually he finds his younger brother is annoying instead. I just sighed and accepted this fact in disappointment, but the last three freaking paragraphs just made me lose it. The older brother is shown to be very overprotective of his younger sister and becomes worried when something happens to her. Fine, ok. He talks to her and then asks her to kiss him. NO!!! The last paragraph mentions how he would find opportunities to make her kiss him more and the fact that he moves his household registration to his birth family. ABSOLUTELY NOT FREAKING OKAY! The older brother might not be biologically related, but that doesn't change the fact that they grew up together as SIBLINGS!! The sister is also a minor (high school student) and the older brother is in second year of college!!! The sentence entailing that he moves his household registration and changes surname also entails that he wants to pursue her and NO!!!!! WHAT drugs made the author think this was cute?!?!?!?! Tell me!!!!!!

    [collapse]
Yes, I had a bit of a meltdown reading the last chapter (extra). I was just so disappointed and felt that every hour I spent on this novel was wasted, so for your own sanity I recommend not reading the last chapter. Otherwise the novel is okay. Not too good but not super bad either. I went on quite a rant, but I make it sound worse than it is. I am just really mad right now.

Read this if you're bored or have nothing to read, but do not have high expectations and don't expect too engaging of a plot. It's very lighthearted and not too serious. <<less

Listen, I love a good glow up novel and I can ignore a lot of things, however, I just couldn't ignore it this time.

The whole message of the story is that 'being beautiful' is all that matters, in the conventional pale skin, thin lips and boney figured kind of way. There were so many derogatory names said about the OG being 'dark skinned', 'fat', and 'ugly' constantly throughout the novel where, at times, it overrode the plot. Maybe it was repeatedly said to let the reader understand how magnificent she... more>> is now, but the author did it in a way that enforced the idea that your value is dependent on how attractive you are perceived to be by society. It is really just shoved in your face, so read with caution.

Spoiler

Also the way the author deals with the ML really rubbed me the wrong. I understand that there is this ongoing 'trend' in Chinese novels that romanticises the 'disabled' and 'crazy' ML, who ends up overcoming his weaknesses with the MC's help, by being, well, abled. The kindhearted MC 'cures' the ML and they live happily ever after. Anyways, my problem lies within how he is constantly portrayed to be 'scary', 'fierce', and 'monstrous' because of his disfigurement (imagine how an actual disfigured person would feel?). He is blind and ugly, basically all of the worst things ever.... do you understand where I'm going with this? It's like the author threw in all of the disgusting 'disabilities' she knew into the ML to let it be known how gross he was in the past, compared to him now, glorious, handsome, and best of all, 'normal'. It's kind of sad to read how the MC can only be deserving of love if she's beautiful, and the ML can only get a happy ending if he is cured.

Oh and another thing. I found it sooooo annoying how the FL had to constantly coax and appease the ML all the time, I know she had to do it to lose 5 pounds a day and get softer skin, but come on now. Why is a grown ass man acting like that? Is it maybe trauma or something that has him acting like a teenage tsundere girl from a harem anime catered to middle aged men?

Bad! Bad! Bad!

Looks like written by a hormonal crazed teenager..

I mean ML adopted son is 3 year old can dress up himself so that MC and ML don't have to look after him. I guess author doesn't even know a thing about a kid. And that white skin craze. I got sick and tired of reading that.

Then everyone has to say ML is beast just because of his scars. I mean it's 2022 most adults don't talk like that about someone like that on their face. Here every young and... more>> old is comparing ML to a monster.

Plus MC is drooling over a blind guy who has got abs despite not working out and maintaining his diet.

Waste of time. <<less

None of the major characters are likeable. I’m not rooting for anyone you often see in the story (I like the Su family/FL’s family the most) - which means the characters were not written well. The pacing could do so much better. The relationship between FL and ML holds zero ground, if I’m being honest.

I found the novel on Shubaow, a Chinese website and ultimately read it MTL without knowing there was anyone translating it, so I might get the names wrong.

The novel has one continuous good quality: that is, that it's entertaining. Many have talked about the cons: fat-shaming, disfigurement shaming, and dark shaming. Except for these, the story had pretty much flowed smoothly- the villains were... From my perspective, the biggest villain who wins the medal is the mother of Jiang Ci. Other villains were mediocre.

well, Jiang Xuan, the reborn character was a clear-headed villain for most of the part, Miss Song, the cousin of Jiang Ci, the transmigrator cannon fodder was s*upid from the very beginning, invisible villain Mr. Sheng Minghao who caused the death of Haohao's parents, and damaged Jiang Ci's face remained invisible till the end and flee abroad. The most tantalizing villain that kidnapped Jiang Ci when he was a child was resolved when he was a child. The mother sheltered her lover and kept silent despite receiving pictures of her son being tortured for 5 long months...

So aside from her, others are like paper tigers. The Granpa Jiang is a joke, the father Jiang is a bigger joke, bringing a mistress and a daughter who didn't last even for a complete chapter. The sweetest family dynamic is in the Su Family. Each and every character are adorable. Father Su loves his "fat and ugly" wife and his taste is "questionable" in others' eyes. But his concern over his daughter's change

that made him think she's stressed and facing unfairness in her in-laws is actually heartwarming. Su Zhi, the brother is also definitely admirable, trying new tricks to keep his brother-in-law away from his sister's bedroom.

Su Yue's intention towards using Jiang Ci's anger value gradually changed to genuine care and affection, which is relieving. Jiang Ci realizing that kissing Su Yue improves his eye-sight "after" he has feelings for her, is also acceptable. The disappearance of Anger value after it reached 100 once is a good way to get rid of it, the changing physical appearance of Su Yue even after it disappeared is a plot hole.

I wish there was an opportunity for Su Yue to be honest with Jiang Ci about her transmigration, but the novel ended without this. Jiang Ci accepted Su Yue's usefulness and physical changes very normally, that's disturbing.

Haohao was a lovely support character throughout the novel which was very innocent and adorable, but after a satisfying read, the last chapter's last paragraph is what made me want to choke the author. So I will pretend it didn't happen.

All in all, it was a good read. <<less

I don't know but the FL is acting like a silent b*tch she seems not different from the original owner of her new body the only thing is she have the realization that it was just a book and characters. I get bored and confused about the story hayss.. And also why putting a kid character in a miserable situation??

haysssss maybe the translation is very bad its very confusing the settings and the characters name !

I know Why the rating is dmn low. The MC is not that likable... more>> at all she's not that fvckin sincere.

This novel is very good to pass time if you are not looking for some heavy or realistic plot (I would give it four stars, but I made a little mistake). I like the MC very much, I think she is a rational and logical person given the circumstances.

I have seen people complaining about the fact that she cares too much about her beauty, but looking at her situation this is to be expected. I mean, she WAS a beauty pre transmigration, it would be very abnormal for her to... more>> just go along with it without a care in the world. I know I would be unhappy too.

So, there's really a lot of people calling her names and saying bad things about her appearance along the novel. Chinese beauty standards are pretty high, so, not surprisingly, there is a lot of criticism when it comes to this topic. Since it's a cultural thing and I have already seen it in countless novels, I am already used to it. Same case with the ML (plus his blindness). BUT if that makes you uncomfortable, I advise you: do not even bother start reading it. However, the novel is not all about that. That is just MC's golden finger and something to keep the plot moving forward.

Spoiler

I don't even know if that count as spoiler, but MC's mother is not your usual beauty by chinese standarts. Even so, MC's father thinks she is the most beautiful woman on the face of the earth and he loves her a lot. A lot.

[collapse]

One more thing about that:

Spoiler

When ML falls for the MC, he is still blind. And when she falls in love with him, he is still blind and "ugly". MC really doesn't mind that, and their family of three could still be happy even if his scars had never fade. She is just happy for him to be able to see again, and later because people would not get to mock him because of his appearance anymore.

[collapse]

About the fact that she has to coax ML when he is angry:

Spoiler

It's not JUST for the sake of losing weight and all. She suffers terrible headaches whenever ML gets angry. The more angry he is, the more pain she feels. MC does get benefits from it, but that is just a bonus for her. Again, her golden finger. Sometimes she would make him angry on purpose just because of that.

[collapse]

About the ML:

Spoiler

Most of what is said about him are just rumors. Not to mention the fact that he is a business man on a chinese novel. He is just as ruthless as your usual rich CEO when it comes to business.

When it comes to his coldness to people and all, ML has his own reasons. He doesn't know how to be a good parent at the beginning because no one was good to him. His whole family is tr*sh. All of them. Especially his mother and grandfather. His maternal grandmother was the only who gave him some warmth and care. She is the only family member who loves him, but the damage was already done when she got to step in.

[collapse]

Personally, I like their relationship very much. There is mutual care, and they really love and respect each other a lot. It takes some time for them to get there though, obviously. Also, their son is very cute and they do learn how to be good parents (especially ML, since he was the most clueless).

I would recommend this novel for those who are looking for some light reading with no s*upid misunderstandings. <<less

  1. So I've got few more chapters to read til I finish it, but basically I like the story
  2. A lot of people have an opinion against it, mainly because of the way the writer pictured beauty, yes I don't like that part as well but this is mainly how Chinese people rate beauty and I have seen it in many novels before.
  3. Also there was a lot of details don't make sense.
  4. Finally, I know I rated it pretty highly but the only reason is my mood, I'm in a bad mood lately so I prefer reading romance novels that feels like it has been written by a teenager

Fun story. Sucks that it follows typical Asian culture of shaming 'black' skin and being 'fat.' Somehow even 130 pounds is considered fat... made me rethink my current reality and second guess my own appearance.

Story-wise, this was a fun read. I do like the characters even though it's pretty cliche. The females beside the main character (Su Yue) were all disappointing. Yet somehow I'm giving this book a 5 star rating. Why? It was just fun to read, I couldn't put it down. Though if I'm being honest I think... more>> it's mainly cause of the male lead (Jiang Ci). He's honestly the best part of the book.
Spoiler

Seriously don't read this if you don't want to know...................................

So Jiang Ci was abducted and horrendously abused as a kid. Then, when he returned to his family they treated him poorly because his personality became sullen. I mean, he was a child who was ens*aved by a madman, of course a kid would become sullen and gloomy. But it was insult to injury that he was treated like an outsider by his own family. Once again more spoilers ahead but, Jiang Muheng is a child from his mothers affair. He's not even part of the Jiang family. The person who abducted Jiang Ci was his own mother's lover who went crazy in revenge against her. After being abducted he found out that Jiang Muheng is illegitimate but kept quiet and watched the Jiang family spoil the 'wild seed' and planned to stay alone forever. He only changed those plans thanks to the female lead, Su Yue.

[collapse]
His character growth is amazingly written and he has such a depth to his character unlike any of the other characters.

Spoiler

By the way, a Chinese novel that's not outright smut for once has a male lead with an actual libido. Hahaha omg I don't think his clingy-ness and obsession is bad at all. Maybe k-novels have destroyed my sense of normalcy when it comes to obsessive male leads. It was nice to read an r15 Chinese novel for once. Usually I find that it's either one or the other: shoujo or plain smut. You never get a nice balance like this in most c-novels, so this was refreshing.

[collapse]

I also liked the cute baby Haohao, such a good child.
Spoiler

who grows up to be a big bad wolf for little mango hehe. If anyone has read this book to the end then you know what I'm referring to.

[collapse]

Anyways the actual rating of the book really should be a 3/5 but because I enjoyed it so much I'm giving it a 5. Because that's what it really comes down to: my enjoyment. <<less
