The night before we obtained our marriage certificate, I asked him, “When did you start to develop feelings for me?”

He answered, “I don’t remember.”

“But, why me?”

“Why not you?”

“I’m very petty, and I get jealous very easily.”

“So am I.”

“I’m afraid I’m not worthy of you.”

“So am I.”

“I haven’t really dated, so I don’t know what love is.”

“I don’t know either.”

He held my hand gently, “But I know this. When I think about spending the rest of my life with you, I feel that my future is filled with hope.”

At 16, we used the same class desk, with less than 10cm between our arms. My peripheral vision was full of him.

At 26, I woke up in the morning, and saw the sunlight softly shining on his face. I thought, this is how I want to grow old – gradually, together, with him.

I guess this must be love.

The summary is a quote from the story, but its much cuter (and less codependent and pathological sounding) in context.

The entire story is overflowing with wholesomeness, good communication, mutual respect, and lots of funny moments. In addition to the healthy main couple relationship there's also healthy friend relationships, warm sibling relationships, the whole book is just full of warmth and love and softness.

Really incredibly heart warming, I kept having to take breaks because my heart was overheating so much.

This story is an absolute masterpiece.

This is the first novel that truly altered my way of thinking. Usually, in most novels we read, the leads sacrifice everything for the people they love - their marriage is close to perfect. The man always buys his wife gifts and showers her with love; he cancels meetings to spend days with her and takes her on vacation anytime she wants. The wife in return cooks him delicious meals, dresses up for him, and always knows his thoughts (in a romantic way of course).... more>> However, this book speaks about the most important part of marriage and that is the understanding between the two parties. They might know everything about each other, but they're willing to find out, no matter how much time it takes. They influence each other in all the best ways. Joey evolved as a person because she grew more confident around Mr. F and Mr. F grew more gentle and patient because of the kindness Joey shows in her daily life. Their marriage has its ups and downs of course, but they TRY and they always, always TRY. They never give up on each other. They wear sweats and laze around in bed and argue and have cold wars and hug in the rain and have outbursts of love and spill drunken thoughts to each other - and that's what love is: the ability to be with someone and grow along with them.

Many people don't like the anecdotal style of the book, but I find that the little scenes that the author writes for us to showcase the tidbits of her life are so personal, refreshing, and poignant that the reader can't help but feel touched. No marriage is perfect, but this book has shown me what a worthy marriage is. I do not have enough words to describe how much I fell in love with this story. Just read it. <<less

This story is really heartwarming and enlightening for me personally.

Love is definitely not easy because there are many hardships along the way that can stump the progress of the relationship. True love is developed only when one perseveres and finds happiness during difficult times. I feel like the story thoroughly demonstrated this fact in a simple recollection of a couple’s life.

There are many deep messages in the story that spark some thinking. I also laughed out loud multiple times while reading this. Truly a comedic, yet tear-jerking and emotional story.

Someone who could write this is genuinely a beautiful person who sees beauty even in the most bitter moments in life. Thanks for sharing a small portion your love story... here's hoping we find our Mr. F's

Certainly this would make the even in a summer movie premiere, this is a beyond brilliant story that shares the emotions of what's it's like to fall and stay in love. Perhaps I could say this one of the best romance stories ever written, and I wouldn't be going too far.

Perhaps my favorite piece of literature I have ever read. I Don't Like The World, I Only Like You is medicine for the soul and a furnace for heart. It is a romance without any of the angsty, unnecessary drama that makes us irritated beyond belief and a comedy that never fails to make laugh in all the right ways. Despite being one of the lightest series I have ever read, it is at times surprisingly heavy with all of the ways it makes you think about what love and... more>> life really is about and what they mean to us. In the end, I Don't LIke The World, I Only Like You is something that not only I like, but something the whole world would like if everyone had the chance to read this treasure. <<less

Overall Score: 43/45 - 96%

Hook Score: 4/5
It's short, effective and unique. Development Score: 5/5
Since it's slice of life, you never know for sure what's going to happen.

Story Score: 5/5
It's very sweet. It's one of those stories where you go "d'aaaw" often. It will melt your heart.

... more>> Style Score: 5/5
The style of the novel is quite unique and refreshing.

Grammar Score: 5/5
Good grammar overall. Originality Score: 5/5
It keeps surprising again and again. Description Score: 4.5/5
Vivid descriptions that help imagine the events. Like an anecdote told by a close friend. It lacks direction, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Main Character Score: 5/5
A colorful character that you can't help but like despite the many shortcomings.

Side Characters Score: 4.5/5
Since they were also based on real life people, they are realistic. The author portrays her links with them in an "easy to guess/understand" way. They're not shown enough though. Antagonists Score: invalid/5
No antagonist in this story.

Strength: One of the sweetest novels I've ever read. Weakness: It's a short read. There's not much chapters and the novel is already complete.

A fantastic book, and a rare one because it’s an autobiography not a fantasy! It’s a realistic but equally enjoyable look into the author and her husband’s relationship (although a bit romanticized as both the husband and author point out, they only focus on the good mostly). Interspersed throughout the story is different points and story of the author’s life, for example her mom’s efforts to raise her two kids, her surgery, her friends, I especially loved the story about little C!

It was a new experience with this writing style. Sounds like a summary of the life of a certain someone. It was hilarious and so fluffy. Some very very original instances that I enjoyed thoroughly. In the middle I started reading it as reading a book of jokes (that can only be enjoyed when you know the previous joke).

There were many missing details but I got used to them in due time xD

I will recommend it to everyone who wants to take a break from heavy, dark, action and thriller... more>> stories. <<less

Sweet and heart-warming. Makes you tear up at some point. No actual plot but just little bits of stories about the author and her husband but still very enjoyable.

I’ll write a more through review later but as of right now, this is my favorite quote of the book:

‘Come to think of it, when I decided to break off our friendship I didn’t quarrel with him, and when we amended our relationship I didn’t cry. When we decided to be together he didn’t confess too me, and when we decided to marry he didn’t officially propose to me– everything just happened naturally on its own accord... It was as though both of us knew that these events would happen,... more>> and that both of us were simply waiting for the right time to arrive.’

the book is well written and I love it very much. Joey is such a charm to read about. <<less

This was so bittersweet and heartwarming at the same time. Although Mr. F and Joey overcame their struggles throughout their youth and romance by effort, her friends’ situations breaks me to tears. I’m very happy for Mr. F’s and Joey’s happy future but I can’t help but agonize and sympathize with Dorm Leader, Young Master, and Female Goddess. I hope that they too one day found happiness within the one they love. And also for Hu Wan Yi to also find herself a lover :)

Great slice of life novel. We get to read about little tidbits of the author's life which is very refreshing especially when the author talked about those sweet moments with her partner. This is definitely relationship goals. Oh, how I envy all those lovebirds in the sky while I am still solo-ing through life. T^T

The story is very realistic and very well written. Without a doubt, 5 out of 5 (if I could, I would give millions stars out of 5).

Usually, I prefer to read somethings to escape reality like fantasy kind-of novel. This novel steer me back to reality and still make me love it. It is funny and unexpectedly tear-jerking at certain situations. To sum up,

Story: realistic, well rounded glimpse of the main characters' life (abit of back in school and current working life)

Romance: no unnecessary drama (no cliche to... more>> begin with). What I appreciate the most is it does not plan unrealistic idea of romance to the reader. Love in reality is not about the cold CEO who would chase and spoil you to death nor delivering dozen of roses on special event. Love in reality is so much more about the little moments that you spend with each other. If we are lucky enough, we will find an equal partner just like the main character to accompany each other for the rest of our lives.

Length: short but concise.

Re-read-ability: 100% yes. I keep rereading this and it never gets old. The sentiment this story bring you on a wonderful carpet ride.

Satisfaction: more than I ever ask for. Diamond in the rough. <<less

Truly heart warming, sweet and funny but can mix it up with some deeper segments. You'll know if this is for you if you read a few of the stories. This is a book with small anecdotes of a woman using the name Joey as her pen name. The short stories contain lots of scenarious, primarily with her husband Mr.F, but also with her friends and family. Basically about her and the people she has around.

She and Mr.F bicker a lot, with him ending on top. He... more>> looks stoic and calm but reveals his true nature with Joey. She also lets herself be more silly around him. Mr.F sly, cunning and smart, but he is also the most loving husband. He loves her with his whole heart and she loves him back.

While the stories are generally very light with a slice of life feel (since it's basically slice-of-life), it also made me cry several times. Some contain diabetes inducing sweetness, while others are describing the hardships of the characters.

I highly recommend it if you like a funny, somewhat silly, not dumb and realistic female lead with a deadpan, genius, loving husband. It's a healing book with lots of smiles. <<less

I don't have anything else to say as the other reviews have proven it right. This is definitely something to read when you want something more real and heart-warming. Clearly it was mostly the fun and loving parts that was told but Joey and Mr. F admitted that there were also sad and unfortunate days. I love the story all in all and yes this would be something to I'd love to read over and over again.

Kudos to the translator for the great quality!

Seems like an autobiography on the author's life but it's probably some real life moments and made up events mixed in.

However, the novel does justify the 'Heartwarming' tag. I did enjoy reading it.

Very interesting take on a romantic story (and I believe it's an autobiography). It starts when they're already married and the chapters contain short stories of their life. This way, readers get a peek into their life and their past. Seriously though, the lives of the characters make me feel like they're straight from a story; just take Guan Chao, Little C, Female Goddess, or even Dorm Leader.
