On the way home from work as usual.

As I was about to die in a sudden accident, then I heard someone’s voice ringing in my head.

[I’m Elsia Artise, save him, please, you could do it!]

It was the last time I lost consciousness and the place where I was when I opened my eyes…

It was in the novel I was reading right before the accident!

I was also in possession of Elsia’s body, an extra that dies at the beginning of the novel.

There was only one thing I could do to survive.

Doing Elsia’s request and twisting the original story!

First, it was to save this Ixion, her unrequited love, who was assassinated and killed.

“Prince, I’m here to warn you of the assassination that would take place today.”

I managed to succeed in saving him using the information from the original, I wanted to live a peaceful life unrelated to the original.

Until I received a letter…

“I owe you a lot of grace. I hope you come to the capital immediately because I want to repay you with marriage.”

Ixion’s proposal, which I thought was the end of our relationship.

“Hey… Prince, I didn’t save you to get proposed to?”

Would Elsia be able to safely refuse his proposal and return to her peaceful life?

I got what I came for. We are reading the future from the title, and not the past. Thankfully so, since I didn't care much about the 'how you got to that point' and wanted to start from the rejected proposal.

'I didn't save you to get proposed to you' starts chapter 10~, we have around 10 chapters of beginning background then the story starts with MC rejecting the proposal and ML trying to figure out why she rejected him.

Nothing gross or anything, just ML thought MC liked him and everyone... more>> around ML supported his thoughts since MC's actions were currently only explainable as a desperate attempt to save the one she loved even if it meant exposing her country's scheme. So it came as a shock when ML realized MC no longer loved him, which led to ML realizing he developed feelings for MC over the course of the war and decided to win her over since he'd already dreamed of a life with her.

Since the 'I Didn't Save You To Get Proposed To' is brought up around chapter 10, the author needed a plot to carry on for the next 120~ chapters. So MC developed magic powers and will be doing some work regarding that. It's not a bad turnaround and fairly interesting so it's a good development to keep moving.

As you can tell from the reviews, chapters 25-35 is when the story unveils and you can start to see the future of the novel. I'm happy enough stopping here since I got the plot-snack that I wanted. <<less

Uh, I don't know about anyone else, but the fact that the prince doesn't even consider the fact that Elsia, a hostage in a hostile country after being thrown away by her own family, could have little to no attachment to her home country which would lead her to betray them seems farfetched. Everyone knows she has been humiliated many times, is treated with only disrespect, and has no power to stand on her own, all because of her awful brother. No one, not his aid or the Marquess, brings... more>> up this possibility either (that she doesn't like her home country and can betray them) and instead default to what are, frankly, delusions of romance.

Spoiler

What? This hostage princess decided to save the prince from an assassination attempt orchestrated by her horrible ruler of a brother suddenly? Well, it must be because she is madly in love with the prince for dancing with her that one time three years ago, despite the prince doing absolutely nothing else of worth or praise for her in the following years, even f---ing forgetting this dance even happened. And it's certainly not because if her brother successfully assassinated a war hero of the royal family, she--a powerless hostage and younger sister of the enemy king--would immediately become the target of the entire royal palace's hatred and revenge. No, perish the thought! In fact, don't even think about such a possibility! It must be because of love! Because that seems to be the only thing these people ever think about!

[collapse]

It comes off as not only juvenile but also borderline s*upid. You'd think a war hero would bother to do some more research, reconnaissance, intel gathering, anything to get a better understanding of such a baffling situation. It wouldn't even be that hard: Elsia has no backing or allies to prevent him from doing so. Prince Ixion also doesn't interrogate her at length, and shows an immediate and almost naive trust in her after barely dispelling initial doubts. This all serves as a shoddy and hasty way to kickstart the prince's courtship with Elsia that doesn't feel the least bit natural or organic.

And it's such a stretch to have me accept that Prince Ixion and his s*upid aide couldn't come up with a single alternative from marriage as a way to repay Elsia's lifesaving grace. Really? You're a prince. I'm sure you have more to offer than just marriage and status? The author tries to provide some excuses as to why the prince's group believe marriage to be the only solution, but let's be real. All of it is flimsy to the point where it's like the author isn't even trying to let any of this make sense.

Spoiler

Again, Elsia has been treated terribly and not at all like a princess by the nobility and the prince's royal family. She wouldn't be losing out on much even if she was no longer recognized as a princess. He could have just offered her his protection and guarantee of an easy and/or simple life as a regular, non-royal person. Elsia never left the palace—leaving her room only twice, where she was constantly derided at by others—why can't she live a life as a commoner? Such an offer would be a truly merciful and kind repayment for saving his life. She even asks for this from him! Freedom! Let her live as she pleases! It's frustrating that no one listens to her and everyone keeps assuming she tragically in love with the prince and imagining feelings that aren't there at all. And I mean everyone.

[collapse]

And a bit about Elsia's adopted family, specifically about her adoptive younger brother.

Spoiler

In ch29, Elsia calls the Marquis' heir as being chuunibyou when he literally committed su*cide before multiple times. How absolutely insincere, callous, and just goddamn heartless of her to think this. Mind you, she had yet to actually meet this boy yet. She is just going off of hearsay. God, I wanted to give this series a chance to fix its logic up but I'm drawing a line here. How cruel and narrow-minded do you have to be to call someone chuuni when he was/is suicidal? She didn't even bother to hold her judgment until she actually met the person or investigate the situation more.

It's also not just her. The Marquis family and their servants don't seem to treat it seriously either. Like????? What the everlasting hell do you want me to think of this???? Of them?? I'm sure there's more to it than how it was presented, but the author is really doing such a bang up job making them all come off as d-bags.

[collapse]

Maybe the story and characters' thoughts will begin to actually make sense later and follow some logic, and maybe I'm misunderstanding things as they stand, but this is a pain to read. If you're here to read about how one man refuses to understand what "no" means and how everyone in this world lives off of baseless assumptions, you're in the right spot. <<less

I have never written a review before but this novel is so bad that I felt compelled to try and write one to warn everyone of how bad it is so you don’t waste your time like I did.

I love bad romance plots because I’m an easy person to please. As long as the FL and ML get together, I’ll be happy, even if there are a million plot holes.

This story is a waste of time.

Another reviewer already mentioned some of the plot inconsistencies, so I would read their review... more>> if you care about that.

My problem is with how s*upid the FL is, and not in an air headed dunce way, but in a “I have 200 IQ” way where everyone else is made to look dumb for her sake even though she’s not that smart. At one point in the novel, she has a wild misunderstanding about the Prince, and despite MULTIPLE people telling her otherwise, she still chooses to believe it because of her “gut” feeling. Even the narrative from the Prince’s perspective proves it to be wrong. She’s s*upid in a “above average intelligence but thinks that makes her smarter than everyone else” way.

Also, don’t even get me started on the intense and egregious fat shaming in this one. FL starts off overweight, and the author constantly describes her as “bursting” out of her clothes and other negative adjectives. Other characters make fun of her weight and she’s described as ugly and her hair weak, etc. Once she loses weight, everyone is suddenly surprised at how “beautiful” she is and she starts attracting suitors left and right. Her friends and family praise her. Like overweight people can’t be beautiful as well, huh?

Most horrible part of this FL is that she calls her adopted younger brother a “just a chuunibyou” despite multiple people saying in the story that he has tried to commit su*cide multiple times. What kind of heartless and callous monster do you have to be to say that about him? And the narrative paints her as correct for saying this, because she’s so 200 IQ, of course she’s correct.

Anyway, don’t waste your time. This novel is pure and utter tr*sh. <<less

The story is very interesting. The ML is very smart and calm. And the ML is so determined. They have a big misunderstanding and in the result, it is funny that the FL perspective is always in survival tone while the ML narrative is so romance lol.

I don't really know what to say other than... it's so bad. The translation is great and is easy to read, but the actual novel? Garbage. If someone erased the title and replaced it with any of the other shitty isekai novels out there, I wouldn't notice a difference. It's just. So bland.

I'm not going to lie, I don't consider this as a spoiler because anyone who reads these kinds of novels shouldn't be surprised.

The MC is the usual girl-from-korea-transmigrated-into-hated girl-who-is-detached-from-everything. And this would be perfectly fine if the author... more>> made her less annoying. She is genuinely so insufferable to the point where I am amazed I stuck it out for thirty chapters. She has no personality. Absolutely nothing besides "I want to leave and not be with these people." Like I get it, you're trapped in a place with extreme political tension and everyone hates you. But she couldn't just come out and like actually say "I don't want to be here anymore" to the prince? She hems and haws and finally settles on the one thing that confused everyone even more. "I don't like you anymore." Girl you have got to be kidding me right now. If you're so much better than everyone (which is the vibe I got from her like shut up about yoga oh my god it doesn't make you better than anyone else) why don't you just be honest. I don't know she is one of the more annoying MCs out there.

I like the prince though. Homie just kind of exists and forgot about her, but when he realized she helped him, he tried to help in the way he deemed best. Like everyone knows she's in love with him, and he decided the best thing to do was make them a couple. That makes sense to me. He's also a dumbass but I don't mind him.

Spoiler

So this part isn't really a spoiler, but it kind of is so I'm going to err on the side of caution. But she gets adopted into this one family (why? I don't know the reasoning makes no sense... like yeah she saved the family but why adopt her???? especially because everyone know she's already affiliated with the opposing country???? like that plothole makes no sense), and the way the family is written is just so...I don't like them. Neil (her now brother) could have been written well, but he's just presented as a genius magician with a loose dick. The mom is so indifferent to him that it lowkey kind of hurt my feelings. Like if his promiscuity was portrayed in a bit more of a comical manner, it would be fine and funny. But everyone is just mean to him. I don't know I like him and the very very very little personality we see from him.

[collapse]

tldr: if you want to read a 14 year old's shitty wattpad story where they are OP and better than everyone, this is the perfect novel for you. Otherwise, it's so bland and the characters (specifically the MC) are so boring. <<less

This series is a romantic fantasy series with forced drama and misunderstandings.

The main character herself has a wishy-washy unassertive personality without many goals of her own. All she wanted was to practice yoga in nature. She reject's the prince's marriage proposal. He proposed to her after meeting her once and her host once, so why would she accept? Her background isn't appropriate, she can't bring him any benefits, and she doesn't like him.

The prince (ML?) refuses to accept that she's just not into him and won't leave her alone. He... more>> follows her all the way to her new home and keeps clinging onto her. She can accept him as a friend but not as a lover. Why does he insist she must be in love with her brother just because she doesn't want to get it on with him? He's obnoxious, annoying, and has an unhealthy obsession. He's creepy and uncomfortable. Just because he likes her doesn't mean she has to like him back. She's not even interested in romance at all with anyone, given what's been going on in her life.

The black magic in the background is far more interesting, but the author doesn't focus on that and instead focuses on the prince being clingy all the time.

There's also a heavy amount of fat shaming. Unlike what another reviewer said, it's not related to yoga.

Spoiler

The original Elsia used her soul to conduct black magic and make herself "pretty"--that's right, fat people cannot be considered pretty in this series, which is pretty mean to say.

[collapse]

Overall, this series is quite mediocre and redundant, although it had an interesting premise. It has plenty of plot holes and unanswered questions. Some people may enjoy it, but I'm dropping this series. <<less

This work is by no means perfect, but the first bit was interesting enough. After the events of the prologue (which it takes about 16 chapters to wrap back around to) the story rewinds back to when our main character warns the prince about the assassination attempt. At this point she's overweight because she just stayed in her room and ate away her sorrows for the past 3 years, but when she decides to attend the banquet to warn the prince, it's written with this sort of "screw you all... more>> - I'm me and I don't care what you think" kind of vibe. I love the way she carries herself for that part and it intrigued me enough to keep reading. Alas, the author is fixated on her dieting/getting skinny/etc/etc and is constantly describing how she got back in shape/got skinnier really fast. It's kind of jarring and the implication that she's now pretty because she is skinny irked me (especially when that first bit made it seem like this was - for once! - not going to be all about the matchstick thin beauty winning the day). I liked her better when she was overweight and carried herself like it was no one's f*cking business what she weighed. I was willing to overlook the skin and bones fixation because I was curious about how the story would turn out, but in chapter 17 it's revealed that she lost weight so quickly with...

Spoiler

... magic yoga. Magic. Yoga. I sh*t you not. W. T. F.?

[collapse]

I somehow made it through the rest of the chapter, but I was rolling my eyes while I read it and I no longer care what happens to this cast of characters that are all jumping to conclusions without talking to anyone to confirm facts instead of chasing after their ridic assumptions. Not even my completionist nature can make me keep reading this one. I'm out.

[3/5 Stars because I really did enjoy the first 1 or 2 chapters when she just waltzed into the banquet and ignored all the asshats. Might even go back and read just that bit again in future.] <<less

It's boring and so droppable. It can pass as a filler while you wait for chapters of novels that you like to pile up. Try reading it and you'll discover just how trying it could really be.

First two chapters were interesting, then the story just gets s*upid from there, because everyone thinks that the only reason one person wants to save another person is love. The hell. Is there no person in this story that has real life experience? They seem to have their heads in the clouds. Everybody knows... more>> that life and relationships are complicated and complex. It could've been ok if this idea of love can move mountains BS is used for more of a comedic effect, but nope, it doesn't come across as such. Exposition is awful. Storytelling is bland. <<less

The title is interesting, the novel art is beautiful, and I have a thing for pretty/handsome silver-haired characters so I gave this novel a try.

The translations are okay, but I might discontinue reading the story because all the misunderstandings in this novel, which I think the author wants to appear as funny/amusing, are just frustrating. And I may have already reached my limit with giving it a chance.

If I may add/reiterate to what the other reviews had already pointed out

Spoiler

- it feels as if every character except for the prince is a fan of romance novels, thus can only come up with wishful thinkings and passionate delusions as logical explanations for what the female lead has done.

- the female lead speaks so little when given the chance to explain her side, thus causes more misunderstandings.. Like since everything makes sense inside her head, people should also understand it.. Or maybe it's not really her fault to expect that much from them since they're supposedly smart and high-ranking people?

- the male lead either cannot accept that someone would reject him (under pretense of saving her from a bad man and/or having a scandal) or he just hasn't realized that he'd already fallen for the female lead.. But kudos for him for not body shaming her like the others

[collapse]

Anyway, it may not be my cup of tea, but others may still enjoy reading this. Perhaps I just find other misunderstanding stories more fun and plausible (like I'm in Trouble Because the Emperor Thinks My Time is Limited). Also, I may have expected too much when I started reading this story. <<less

I rarely write a review so please do understand me. The Author is very creative in making a misunderstanding, as I read the novel, I am so amaze that such misunderstanding can do a justice in the plot coz if you removed the misuderstanding the character it self will just keep adding misuderstanding.

The characters really make 'misuderstanding' a personality trait and im so confuse I literally lost my remaining braincells from this novel but it was really fun to read but I hope I do not get misunderstand in real... more>> life, when I think about it happening to me it was not fun.

I like how the MC has more progress in making misunderstanding than her

feelings for the prince

it is very unique story and very unique ways on how to friendzone the prince <<less

I actually rather like most of the chapters. I agree the plot is pretty forced/cliche but I find the secondary characters very entertaining. The main misunderstanding is kinda stretching things in several conversations, but my feeling is that it's probably because translation of homonyms, puns, etc is really hard. Personally I enjoyed the ML's hilariously bad attempts at being romantic. The FL is OP as many have stated, but I'm reading this story for just about every other character besides her.

Interesting enough story, but the translation is insanely bad, I spend most of my time trying to figure things out when character suddenly appear in the scene, or when the scheme changes with no warning, and that’s on top of trying to follow the bad grammar and poor spelling. It’s really hard to recommend this book because whatever interesting story is there, is buried under an incomprehensible prose
