The setting is a bit complex, but the resulting overall plot can be explained relatively simply.

The goal is to overtake the conglomerate and accrue political power to protect that wealth.

As for how it came to that, the protagonist used to be a successful businessman (it's unclear whether he ran a business himself or was in finance), presumably using unethical means ("selling his soul" for money, which is probably not literal despite the supernatural aspect of the reincarnation). He lost everything and became a shut-in.

He came across a character creation tool... more>> and came up with a rich girl in the 80s, including perfectly recalling the past life's information except for the actual character settings (presumably there will be some surprises in the future), and perfect health / eternal youth.

That results in being born as the daughter of a chaebol heavily investing into semiconductors (hint hint). Some suspension of disbelief is required for a five year old acting too much like an adult and the other characters' reactions.

Obviously making use of future information is and will continue to be an important aspect of this novel, but it also highlights other economic and political circumstances. The butterfly effect is still small, but has already been acknowledged at this point, so it seems that this will not just be a flat "I invested into something using future knowledge and it turned out as I wanted" story over and over. Many investments will be made based on this advance information, but what will really be interesting is the adjustments to the changed reality.

Overall, it's a reincarnation similar to "Forget Management, I Just Want to Spend Money", with a similar time period and effectively the same family, but the direction is the opposite. The MC of this novel is actively pursuing ownership and management, making mostly "conventional" investments, whereas that one mostly invests into hobbies and arts. The family circumstances are also slightly different, but the most important connection in both is the grandfather who is the current chairman.

I couldn't resist waiting until more chapters were released before reading it, but now I can't wait for more. <<less
