I Became the Wife of the Monstrous Crown Prince

Description

She transmigrated into the body of Ancia, the current wife of the monstrous crown prince, Blake, in an R-19 romance novel.

In the original story, Ancia committed su*cide on the day of their marriage, leaving Blake with massive trauma. But this time, Ancia wouldn’t do such a thing.

Blake was the second male lead in the original novel. He was portrayed as a beast that possessed an exquisite facade. Yet, right now, he was behaving just like an innocent rabbit.

The only person who can remove the crown prince’s curse is the heroine, Diana. My role is to just keep this little boy from getting hurt and then step down in time, but…..

“Ancia, don’t leave me!”

This little rabbit keeps chasing me.

People are just being mean in the reviews. It's actually an ok read. The beginning part needs some serious editing though. Things just happen without good transition. The cause and effect of things is minimal (maybe for the first 50 chapters). It feels as if the author was rushing to go to the part where they already grow up. The mood of the story takes a sudden 180 degrees in the middle. The romance is not much of an adult romance, but their interactions are cute and endearing. Although I'm... more>> a little disappointed because they are originally in an R-19 novel, but everything here is PG level. The most disappointing twists in the story fall on the villains. Their actions are quite illogical and the reason behind their actions is a little dumb.

Overall, I enjoyed the reading experience. I also hope others won't be deterred by the negative reviews of others. There are some parts where you'll think that the author could've done better, but it's still a fun read. The side story is also cute, although it could've been compressed to 5 chapters. Nothing much happens anyway in the side story. <<less

In general I thought it was okay, even if it was cliché. The cooking trope is always funny to me.

I was disappointed because it seemed like the male lead’s whole personality is to love the MC.

I didn’t like the rushed make up between the male lead and his father at the end. I get that the MC is supposed to be special to him but it made me annoyed to see that the male leads relationship with his father was only viable when the MC was around.

I liked that there... more>> wasn’t really a sad backstory for Richard/Phillip, I was able to dislike him without sympathy, so that made me happy.

I didn’t like how Ser tried to go back to Richard/Phillip when she was in mc’s body. I felt bad about what happened to her but that doesn’t mean she wasn’t annoying.

Something that was also kinda of eh for me was that from the beginning to the end there was always that subtle comment about how she (mc) thinks of male lead as a child or something.

Basically, it was okay. <<less

THIS IS MY VERY HONEST REVIEW ABOUT THIS NOVEL.

Please do take note that what I am going to say is my own opinion. (I'm not fluent in speaking english so sorry)

PLOT: I will rate it 2.5 -_- Why? Honestly, the first half of the story is very good, I came from reading the manhwa to reading the novel, and was disappointed with how the story turned out. The second half of the story is boring, and very predictable. The author just won't stop creating problems after problems for the... more>> characters, just let them breath for a sec, will you?😂 And because of those problems, the story became very bland. I lost my interest, but I continued reading it, hoping to see a redeeming plot, but nah -_- I stopped reading after the epilogue, I didn't read the side stories.

CHARACTERS: 2/5

FL - Your typical goody-two-shoes female lead, the saint-type of girl. It's very beyond me why people are not wondering how a girl like her acted so mature for her own age, like VERY mature it's kinda unnerving. Her character is very cliche to be honest. She's too kind to the point that it's kind of idiotic and frustrating, you know when it's very obvious that something bad will happen if you do this and do that and people are against you for doing it, but hey, I am the FL, I won't listen, and boom! Something bad did happen -_- And after that, you'll expect that she learned her lesson and won't do s*upid things again but jokes on you, she did it again. Her s*upidity is the cause of the problems in the story tbh, even from the PAST up to the PRESENT.

ML - He's very cute when he's still a kid, I admit. But when he grew up, the author messed him up, why you do that author? T_T He became that typical yanderish ML, I love yandere MLs but Blake's yandere development is unprecedented, it's like the author just randomly thought "okay, I'll make you a yandere." that development is so sudden and forceful. Well, let's say that he became obssessive because of what happened to Ancia, but it doesn't suit his development at all. And the way how the author portray the events of Blake showing his yandereism (whuut?) is so cringy, it doesn't suit the plot and the scenario. I don't know how to explain it but it doesn't complement the plot at all.

Ser and Richard: 1/5

These two suit each other, one is dumb, while the other is dumber. Richard can't just accept that he'll never be emperor and that freaking Ser can't just blame herself instead of blaming Ancia for every s*upid thing that she did. There are a lot of instances where ML and MC could just apprehend Richard or kill him but they didn't do it cause why? Cause author thought that it would be fun if Richard could create another problem to spice things up tsk.

Guys, I don't hate the story, I just hate how it turned out. I love the manhwa so I ended up reading the novel but I am very disappointed as the author did the characters and the plot dirty. Lol. <<less

The main characters are still children until the part that I've read but I just want to say: "This is so s*upid."

First of all, the MC and ML married at age 10 and 8 respectively. It's not engagement but marriage. Even if it's ancient times, it feels unreasonable. Like, it is just a plot shortcut to make the MC and ML live together. It's a too tacky.

It starts out alright. Almost the same as all the novels of the same trope. Which I came here for.

But the execution is lacking.... more>> The characters are very 2-dimensional and lacks depth.

The villains are dumb. They just talk and their methods can only work if all the characters are braindead. Tbh, they don't feel like threats.

MC has a sister and MC's adamant that "My sister should end up with the crown prince to break his curse" and it's just feels fake. Like, her sister and the ML is just 8-9 years old. What do they know. The good thing is she's not forcing them too much. It's still within the reasonable scope.

As for the main character... she's the typical mary sue who doesn't want her favorite character to suffer. Nothing was mentioned much about her last life. Not even her age. But because she knows she's in an R-19 story that she used to read, it's safe to say that she's at least 19 years old.

And the ML is 8 at the beginning of the story. It's fine at first, when she's taking care of him. But later on, she says that she can't help her feelings anymore. It was mentioned that she doesn't want Diana and the ML to end up together. Like, how? The ML isn't even 10.

The ML is too clingy. Which is understandable. Until the oart I've read, he's a child and he acts his age which is good. His actions is consistent to how a child who lacks affection and is isolated would probably act. He's afraid to be left behind because barely anyone pays attention to him. He's too precious. I don't know how he will turn out but I hope he will think about whether his feelings for the MC is just gratitude or love.

They say mushy things to each other which is cute and all. If you're looking for that, this novel is probably for you.

If you're looking for something unique and stimulating, this is not for you. This novel requires you to turn off some brain cells and a bit of moral compass to enjoy. <<less

It’s really a very cute story, most of the time, The 1st part when they are children were really cute and heart warming, ML is pitiful but so so cute, MC transmigrated and help little cute MC to heal and protect him. There are a twist in the book she transmigrated in, so the story is quite interesting. But the 2nd half when MC return, there’s a bit of cliche drams and very s*upid sides characters villains and love rivals.. Feel abit like filler but still the whole novel is... more>> quite entertaining.

But I love the extra story. Super super cute! All the side characters are cute and loyal, the best is of course daddy emperor ahem and abs ! Lol. And this novel is very chasted, only lots of hand holding and very light descriptions of kissing. Not at all like the title. Hiah very disappointed haha. Anyway good read, Thank you <<less

FIRSTAT ALL I WANT TO CONGRATULATE THE TRANSLASTOR/R FOR A GREAT JOB !!!!

I really like your work, was well done, the story's premise was good but the lack a lot of elements... the godesss arc was tedious and long, necessary but long. The MC and ML were cute as children but I dont know the charm was broke as adults.. Due for some plot holes... lack of emotional IQ from them low my opinion in general.

And the extras... this are the first extras I did not fully enjoy to, some... more>> can say are fluff and cute but not me🤷‍♀️ <<less

Dropped at 84 because of the bullshıt that's been introduced to the story. I sincerely loved it until the moronic goddess character came. After that story went to the toilet.

Until chapter 69 I wrote these notes while enjoying it. Too bad it became so bad this easily:

Spoiler

COMMENTS ON CERTAIN SCENES - SPOILER:
-Oh the satisfaction when our little crown prince passed his curse to FL's father. That little imp was hiding it all along. I was waiting for it! I love finding dark sides on seemly innocent characters.
-Chapter 51 made me cry a little. Blake's understanding of his coming death was so sad. On the contrary, the chapter's end made me smile. Precious, precious Blake.
-Tenstheon becoming a sweet father really touched me. He deserved to be happy after all.
-AHahahah the curse lifted with a kiss. Aww.

AND SOME COMPLAINTS:
-Video? The author just introduced "video" in a sentence. It threw me off because I thought the story was in old times and they didn't point out that "the video" was a magical thing? I was confused. Then couple of chapter's later it was explained as magic stone as expected. Welp.
-Cassil Family was... too petty for this novel. I wish the author could write them a little differently.

[collapse]
Don't read after 61 and think like that's the happy ending. You'll be more happy with the story. Trust me.
Honestly it doesn't even deserve the 2 stars after the bullshıt segment I read.

I picked this up because the cover art was cute. I dropped it at chapter 65 because honestly you could end it right there and pretend there wasn't a plot twist right around the corner, and that everybody lives happily ever after; the end. Which is what I'm doing, because, while I don't hate this novel, it is determinedly whatever, and I can't be bothered to read any more - hence I'm jumping off the story train while all the hooks are out. Yep, that was a thing, now it's... more>> over; next.

This novel kinda flips between light and fluffy romance (?) and twisted political melodrama worthy of a good old Victorian swoon. Between the meaningless scenes full of "Hubby you so cute~" "Wifey, I'm not a kid, don't talk to other men, actually-just-don't-spend-time-with-anyone-else-at-all-because-then-my-alone-time-with-you-is-reduced-to-less-than-every-second-of-the-day-" "Little rabbit so funny, haha!" (I'm sorry, is anybody else feeling creeped out by this child-man?) , the never ending cook-fests (what is it with transmigration/isekai and these food plots? I honestly hate them by now) and exposition about the original novel and real/fake history of the empire... it just starts to drag on. Like I'm still waiting for stuff to happen, even though enough stuff happened that we could call this a crappy ending.

But like, eh. It could be worse. It's not offensive. The author drops a few hits on the patriarchy with the "original" female lead pursuing her childhood dream of becoming a knight instead of becoming wife material under her father's direction. Even if said father is veery one dimensionally just terrible human being who is literally cursed to death after no more than a handful of appearances - which his whole family is fine with, no love lost there. The positive side that calls out tr*sh tropes rings a little hollow in the face of the ML's skin crawling level of possessiveness and jealousy which is either ignored or seen as cute, but maybe that's just me. It'd be one thing if he was depicted as being something of a crazed anti-hero, you know, demon lord or something, evil but you gotta love it - but he's not, not at all - maybe later, but according to MC, this boy is cute and his burning won't-give-an-inch-possessiveness is also cute. Fortunately after the start pretty much nothing ever happens when they are together, so we get to skip a few years to get to the parts where she's going around trying to break the curse and fend off the wild dogs that are the power seeking nobles until they meet their demise. <<less

it's not so badly written although there's unrealistic things at some point

There's some reasons why you might want to read this, such as:

  • FL wasn't a dumb girl, she acted like what she supposed to be as she's a crown princess, a.k.a there's no scene of going nowhere including looking forward to attend festival, city hall, or the market by herself secretly and without/only with a maid. In short she wasn't someone who recklessly trying to be alone and gave a chance to villain to harm her
  • She acted like older sister who treated ML with sincere heart. She thought the ML was a cute kid and the emperor a.k.a ML's father as sexy (in accordance with her real soul age)
  • A rare scene where the main protagonist wasn't hostile toward FL
  • Things explained for what reason it happened
  • Stopped reading at c66~c69 isn't a bad idea as
    Spoiler

from other spoiler, things seemed like going downhill

    [collapse]
I don't recommend this for those who seek a high quality webnovel, because:

  • The characters felt little bit flat, no depth
  • It was rushed in the beginning, a time-skipped, and FL gave impression she's okay and ready to life her second life as 'crown princess' with her fave character (ML) from the moment she's awake inside that body
  • As usual, there's an Asian thingy include in the chapters, such as chopstick and staple Korean foods
  • If you don't want more drama, stop at 60ish, if you don't mind at what others's spoiler already written then go on~
  • It took +/- 69 chapters for the duke (and first antagonist) who bore ill-intention toward FL, ML, et al. To be finished by the emperor but in those lengthy chapters, it only took around 1~3 chapters to wrap the story :/ not so much of comple conspiracy story. Heavily focused on meng

The thing that I like about this novel is how realistic and relatable the characters' thoughts are, also, the way this emphasize that no matter how judgemental the society is, appearance is not entirely important because there will always be someone who's willing to accept and love you for who you are. In addition, this define that true love is not all about heart fluttering moments, happiness, and affection but also the sacrifices and obstacles that would make that love become stronger.

Every chapter has brought me mixed emotions like a... more>> freaking roller coaster!

Spoiler

Especially when the redemption arc started! The annoyance and irritation I've felt made me want to transport myself inside the novel and just reprimand the goddess while flaying her! How s*upid was she to blame others and feel resentment when it was her own fault to begin with! Man, she doesn't even deserve the goddess title she's a piece of sh*t, she had the chance to not let the situation get worse but she chose being s*upid. Im so glad the stressful part has ended.

[collapse]

I can't wait to read the lovey dovey part (esp the 18+ part) between Ancia and Blake!

Overall, this is a must read! Unless you don't like drama. <<less

This "goddess of light" is the s*upidest person in this novel. I honestly believe anyone in this story would've made a better god or goddess than her, and yet here we are, at chapter 108, with a s*upid woman who falls for the same person after a thousand years of pain and suffering due to said persons' actions. Who would do that??

Spoiler

And what makes matters so bad is that this goddess of light actually blamed Ancia for all those years of constant pain and suffering instead of the person who did it to her! Why is she so hateful towards her?? I don't get it. You'd think that after so long of living in a literal hell hole with nothing else to do but burn that she'd be glad when our female lead gave up seven years of her life just to save her. Even if she only did it to save Blake from his curse, she still saved her. And yet, she blamed her for not coming to save her quick enough and then proceeded to become the villain. The so-called "goddess of light." She is NO goddess.

[collapse]

I gave this novel 4 stars because aside from that one woman the story is really good. I love the interactions between the female and male leads.

Spoiler

Especially the fact that they're star-crossed lovers. Though in their previous life, they weren't able to become an official couple (courtesy of Serphania's selfish actions of giving an evil man her powers) but they did love each other then, and they managed to find one another in this life and fall in love again. I loved that.

[collapse]

The story overall is beautiful. There's a certain arc later on after the sixtieth chapter that may be a bit irritating and hard to understand, but reading it was vital to understanding the latest chapters. Though I wanted to skip them, it'd be best to read them. But! Like I said, overall a good story so far. <<less

it was originally super cute and the interactions were really adorable, but somehow along the way it just became a little... too intense? there were too many flashbacks and so much conflict I had to reread some of the chapters because I was so confused.

conclusion: it's worth a read if you like fluff, but beware of plot convenience :D the translation is pretty good (props to the translator for being able to translate all those names) <<less

I don't like to be cruel in giving ratings, I believe that a lot of stories are nice, but this one is full on power in giving fluff with no logic. I still have this 'WTF' face when I read that they have a high tech surveillance cameras (or is it just me who have this medieval/fantasy setting in mind). THOUGH I would still give it a try to read.

I'm giving it three stars for the good translation.

I had a phase where I used to love reading a lot of isekai's that revolved around something like an Otome game and this one really did remind me of that. Its quite a sweet story that so far has a good plot to me. Its not really filled with holes and its just going along. Although that may change in the future as the story gets longer but at this time its a lovely read if you want to see the interactions between a girl and a boy who... more>> are "married" at a young age.

My main reasoning for the 1 star reduction is some of the sweet stuff is just too cringe for me to handle so I have to skip it. An example would be spoiler but not a substantial one.

Spoiler

There is a black cat that the MC takes care of it. However, since its male the ML is jealous of the cat and begins to act like one by saying "Meow". I just cringed way to hard at that kinda part.

This started really cute, derailed in the middle, and then got back to being decent again. It's not an amazing must read by any means, but it's fluffy, has wholesome moments and you get attached to the characters and their struggles. Especially now that's it's completed, it's worth a read because you can quickly move through some of the messier parts of the novel and enjoy it as a whole.

**2.5 'finally done with this' Stars**

Rounded down because of unsatisfactory side stories, lol.

Honestly I'm not going to give it a full review since I've read up to around 80% and got bored; I thought to myself that today I would get rid of this on my "to-read" list. So I ended up skipping to the ending lmao.

I started with the manhwa and "monstrous crown prince" sounded up my alley because mm-mm-mmm do I love Beauty and the Beast type stories. But nah, the "monstrous crown prince" was actually a cutie... more>> who had dark marks on his skin. Because that's so monstrous?? They look like tattoos in the manhwa, yuh. Anyway, the gorgeous art kept me hooked and I was curious on potential face-slapping that would happen. I thought the manhwa was a decent shoujo-like story and followed the story to the novel.

While I enjoy high fantasy tropes, this story got boring pretty fast. The romance was wholesome and cute when the leads were children, but once they grew up nothing really progressed, , , they stayed wholesome and cute. The ML's biggest personality is being adorable and later on possessive when he's older. The FL is your typical transmigrated-into-a-novel heroine. You know how in the blurb, Blake is compared to a rabbit? Prepare to have that comparison follow him even until the side stories. The whole conflict regarding the curse ends up being based on a whole reincarnation backstory, so prep yourself for chapters upon chapters of background exposition mid-story. That's when the plot lost me and I couldn't take it anymore. I don't think the author did a good job balancing what happened in the past and what's happening in the present. It was basically a whole story within the story. (Plus with unlikable characters that were plain dumb.)

The translations on Woopread were great though and really made everything readable.

Regarding the ending:

Spoiler

Villains get their just desserts but the climax was really lackluster. The story ends with the main leads' wedding after the ML kind of makes up with his [hot] father.

[collapse]

Overall

It was a very high fantasy shoujo story, through and through. Typical good Samaritan FL, typical possessive and adorable ML, and typical reincarnation plot where they were meant to be together. The romance is sweet in a childish kind of way, but not enough to move me. The main conflict comes from a long-winded rehash of what happened thousands of years ago. The manhwa's art is really stunning, but I just lost interest in the second half. *Shrug* Onto the next. <<less
