I Became the Vicious Senior Brother of “White Cut Black” Junior Brother

Description

Shen Xingcong transmigrated into a specific starting point of the cultivation script and became the cannon fodder senior brother of Xiao Lin, the main villain in the text.

At that time, Xiao Lin was still an unworthy junior brother, but Shen Xingcong knew that this person would one day slaughter the whole family completely. Even his fellow teachers, who treated him very well, won’t be let off!

Therefore, when he woke up and saw his junior brother had been bullied and humiliated by the original owner, there was only one thought in his mind.

Well played!

Beat him to death, beat him to death!

Xiao Lin was born with an antisocial personality. Since it couldn’t be changed, it would be better to retaliate (cross out) and educate bluntly!

Shen Xingcong was no longer afraid.

.

Until one day, he came back home.

The baleful Shura stood among the sea of blood with a sword, his eyes were bright red, and he looked back at him.

Shen Xingcong straightened his neck firmly and waited silently for the sword to penetrate his chest. Unexpectedly, the man smiled.

“No one will hinder us again.”

His face was stained with blood, but his tone was utterly inconsistent with innocent.

“After I take over the sect, you will be the wife of the sect leader, okay?”

.

Xiao Lin was defective in human emotions and desires since childhood. He was unable to feel happy and never even feel pain. Only the sense of emptiness spreading unceasingly in his body.

Until that person appeared, a dark heart finally burst into waves.

He ignored the man’s terrified look. He pushed the man to the bed forcefully and brushed the corner of his reddened eyes with his cold fingertips.

“Senior brother is the one who provokes me first.”

His eyes were slightly curved, yet they seemed to sink into the mud, and the bottom couldn’t be seen.

“So, you should also be responsible to the end.”

Note:

白切黑 (bái qiē hēi)

“White Cut Black” means a character who looks innocent and lovable on the surface is actually a black-bellied big shot who is resolute and ruthless.

I really liked this story because while the premise has been used multiple times before, the characters themselves are very uniquely portrayed.

The MC transmigrates into the body of a mob character who ab*sed the future villain who will destroy the world. So the MC sees the villain and, unlike most stories of this trope, immediately wants/ plans to kill him to prevent the tragedies the ML will cause in the future. While he doesn't end up going through with this (obv since they have to 'romance' lol), he is always... more>> hyperaware that the ML is psychotic and reacts accordingly.

The ML on the other hand is a through and through psychopath. While there are a lot of danmei novels out there where the villain ML is written as "crazy" or "psychotic, " those characters still feel emotions and rather are actually mentally twisted. Not this ML. He genuinely has no emotions, feels very little pain, and doesn't understand the MC's sense of morality.

I definitely recommend giving this book a chance if you're into the xianxia danmei trope that has just enough unique quirks to give it a fresh feeling <<less

The premise is very different from the norm. The protagonist takes a very different approach from the start (deciding to kill the future villain) and stays true to his beliefs. And although things don't go as planned and compromises must be made, these compromises aren't made at the cost of his morality. The development of the relationship between the two leads and the resulotion of the plot brought me great joy. It does not follow the usual cultivation peanut gallery. Regarding this, there are a lot of MVP characters that... more>> brought this about (not giving out names so there are no spoilers). The characters aren't one-dimensional, they're fleshed out and have their sets of motives that fuel their actions. Unlike other novels that do this however, a sad past is not used to justify the evil deeds done which is great. The brain circuits of the original villain and the original protagonist really are different from ordinary people which makes me laugh a lot. As expected of the main characters in a novel, they really are different from the rest of the populace.

Plus, it's very easy to MTL by yourself if you can't wait to know more. Very readable. <<less

I really liked it in the beginning but the level really dropped the more I read. I'm also upset there was no real romance in the novel. It was just ML being upset and MC thinking that he loves him but not being able to accept him.

I usually write a review when I finish or drop a novel but I feel like the overall rate on this novel doesn't give it justice.

So far, I like ML and how he respond to those around him since it's rare to see an apathetic character on a BL novel. The dynamic of him and MC is also a unique one. An MC who is really humane combine with an almost psychopatic ML make for a really entertaining read.

At this point in the story, the author and translator did a... more>> good job to convey the story. I personally can't wait to read more of them!

I will update this review after more chapter come out. But so far, it is a totally recommended book! <<less

Very recommended!

I really like the relationship between MC and ML, they are so cute (ノ≧∇≦) ノ ミ ┻━┻

Even though that the misunderstanding is a bit pain in the ass at first but it's still okay.

The ML is yandere to the maxx, I guess there are many people who dislike this kinda s*um ML but, personally...I like it ♡ (> ਊ <) ♡

Every time our ML tries to eat our MC's tofu always making me smile so much my 'till my cheeks hurts.

Well, overall it's 4.5/5.

Highly recommended through and through!

I love this novel to death. I was fully expecting this to be a standard cultivation novel where the ML hates the MC initially (because of his memories from his past life) but gradually grows to love them and, in the process, abandons their villainous destiny completely to obsess over the new love of their life. The MC is initially oblivious to the effect he has on the ML before coming to recognize it and living happily ever after with his partner. The end.

That's not what this novel is, and... more>> I'm really glad things turned out the way they did. I'll try not to spoil too much,

but I really like Shen Xingcong's personality and his complex relationship with the Xiao Lin. His inner turmoil is extremely realistic. I, too, would be conflicted about a person that is destined to become a great villain and unsure of what course of action to take. I also really like how the Xiao Lin doesn't immediately become a good person after he begins to desire Shen Xingcong. He has feelings for Shen Xingcong, yes, but he still retains his identity and character. He is the infamous demon seed, after all, and people don't change overnight. Similarly, among his complicated feelings, Shen Xingcong holds a special place in his heart for Xiao Lin. Can a part of that be attributed to the fact that he feels like he is in the same boat as Xiao Lin after accidentally becoming a Demonic cultivator? Yes. But, once again, isn't that more realistic than falling in love with Xiao Lin just because? Originally, Shen Xingcong didn't want anything to do with Xiao Lin, much less fall in love with him. And now that he has, he must grapple with his desire to help Xiao Lin and his desire to help his sect and fellow cultivators---two clashing realities that cannot coexist peacefully. Overall, I love how this novel handles nuance and complexity. This was such a refreshing and engaging read.

[collapse]

This novel is not just about a romance between two cultivators---it explores the concept of morality through the use of Orthodox and Demonic cultivators and depicts a complex and realistic relationship between a main character who struggles to do the right thing and a villainous man who would destroy the world for his senior brother. Please give this novel a try. I promise it is worth your time. However, if you're looking for a fluffy, wholesome read, then this novel will likely not live up to your expectations. <<less

They seemed to have drop translating this so I jump to reading the raw. And here's my discovery...

This story has an MC who have a unique starting approach towards the villain. Since there is no system to hinder his decision, it lead to him planning to kill the villain right away so it won't be a problem in the future.

However, the fate tease him and gave him a better solution by transforming him into demonic. ... more>>

guaranteed that from the beginning, even without the tattoo on his body, Lin still love him.

[collapse]

Lin got attracted due to SXC's unpredictable decision making. And this stone heart Lin decided to watch over his brother with interest thus he make decisions for the goodness of SXC despite not understanding his (XL) own feelings or why he was doing so for his brother.

Spoiler

note about XL:

    1. has no emotions nor desire for himself other than to get stronger and possess brother.
    1. possessive but not exaggerating just doesn't want anyone getting ahead of him in SXC's heart and mind.
    1. protect and marry his brother.
    1. A complete example of a demon's mindset; why hide if you're strong, why run if you can kill, just dominate so no one can harm or stop you.
      [collapse]
XL knew he likes his brother although SXC always want to display ignorance. In the end, he always take initiative and won the villain's heart. Yey happy ending!

Other characters are very supportive like the original protagonist SHL. I like Lan too he has the potential to be SXC's shou if he didn't choose XL. <<less

It was mind-blowing. Shorter than some longer novels, but it tells the story just as well and gets you so invested. Literally binged the whole thing in one night.

The plot sounds cliche at first, but then it starts to diverge into something truly unique. The MC and ML are very well thought out. The ML is inherently kind and always chooses what's best for the general situation. The ML is definitely possessive. Wants the MC so much, that sometimes it's not clear whether or not it is truly love. It... more>> started out as a jealous, sort of possessiveness, but then it got REALLY heated. In the end, though, it's a HE. Beautiful ending, very satisfying. THEY SOUND SO CLICHE HERE BUT THEY ARE SO COMPLEX IT HURTS MY BRAIN HOW THE AUTHOR CAN WRITE THEM AS SUCH.

If you can take some coercion, this novel is for you. Also, sweet and well-thought-out side characters. They added a lot to the story and provided contrast from how the MC thinks from the rest of the world. They each have their own side stories. Not a single one is irrelevant, and they all pop up again somewhere where you'd least expect it.

Definitely one of my favorite shorter novels of all time. I wish there was a part talking about the MC's modern life perhaps? But besides that, would 10/10 read it again! <<less

This is one of my personal fav (and my friend's). Because the yandere here gives different vibe than the usual yandere we know. He's like a void who care of nothing (her words). Even if he was bullied he didn't think to exact revenge, but it doesn't mean he's s*upid or resigned, he just didn't care. Probably his bottom line is just his own dog life. This kind of man is quite interesting right hoho

Another thing I really like from this story is the MC ofc. He has holy mary... more>> atttiude sometimes and that might feel annoying to some readers but not to me. His kindness bring change to other characters around him and that's my next favorite thing from this novel: the side characters!

Some of them probably just 2D but there are plenty that shine in the little frame they are given. Although I really wish the story is longer so that I can see more of what the side characters up to. But anyway they make the world setting much broader. (The world setting is pretty simple but understandable and makes sense enough btw)

The downside, is probably some stuff doesn't feel natural enough or make sense enough but readers have different tolerance about this right? I am very discerning if it's modern setting but I usually more lenient otherwise. As long as I like the characters, the world setting, the writing style (very important), and the plot isn't too outrageous, everything goes for me.

Anyway enjoy reading! <<less

I'm not completely sold on this.

I've been looking for historical fantasy BL novels to read.

Not too long into reading this, I just could not immerse myself into the relationship.

    • My main irk being how the ML is portrayed and stated as being emotionless, yet suddenly hyper-focuses on the ML because...
Spoiler

... the MC had turned into a demon cultivator.

[collapse]

Like excuse me?!?

You can't just set up a character for a multitude of chapters being devoid of feeling, emotion or care to suddenly do a 180 degree turn all of a sudden.

If you're wanting to create a romantic link between characters, this is not the way.

I'll still read and wait for chapters.

    • It has its merit and I feel it'll be good for people looking to pass time until a better series pops up.

At first I was interested... But soon MC's character irks me.

He is too self righteous in trying to stop ML. although I know that ML is a real sociopath. But the way MC asserts himself on ML, e.g. keeps on stalking ML to prevent him from doing something based on the plot of the book, etc., when ML himself said that he hasn't done anything yet... But at the same time leaving ML at the drop off the hat once the events from the plot is not happening.

These behavior just... more>> doesn't sit well with me.. MC is too obsessed and fixated on the plot.. but as we all know... You can't just rely on the plot of the book especially that there will be a butterfly effect once he starts to intervene on the plot. He assumes himself as a plot police but at the same time wants to prevent his own death flag.

I don't know if I had explained it right...

Overall this novel is just not my cup of tea. <<less

The start was good but as the story progresses, I get confused with how MC wants his relationship with the ML

Spoiler

In the beginning, the MC just wants to divert the plot from its direction so as to prevent the ML from killing him and others. However, by doing so, the misunderstandin just keeps piling up until at some point both of them realizes their feelings for each other. This plot is the most used scenarios in transmigration novels, I am actually okay with it but the misunderstanding was still ongoing even though the story's already in the 70+ chapters.

I hate that they don't communicate with each other. The MC loves the ML yet fear still lingers due to the original novel's plot. If they could have jusf talk with each other, there wouldn't be much complex in the story.

I also wasn't really satisfied how the MC handles his relationship with the ML. Actually, the misunderstanding really starts with how the MC tries to make the ML not interact with the potential characters who he ends up killing in the OG novel. After he somehow successfully do it, he'd then distance himself with the ML.

I'm also not quite sure why the ML who's supposed to have no feelings towards others, as described how a demon seed should be, became interested after the MC became a demon.

If the MC is just a passerby, he would've already be neglected by the ML but it must be the protag halo working so the ML instead find it interesting.

If I were to conclude everything, the author just keeps dragging the story cause of the leads' misunderstanding. Others may still find this good tho, but not for me I guess.

I won't rate this so as to not affect the current rating but I'm dropping this for now. <<less

You do not know how much I wanted to like this. I have been following it for months and months now, I saw it bloom from barely anything and was so sure this will turn into another of my favorites.

Sadly, I drop this today. I am exhausted trying to keep reading and realizing that not only the plot isn't going anywhere, but there is no real love between the main couple and so much more I could complain about.

Might make an edit later.

I will not rate this to not bring... more>> its score down. <<less

4/5 ⭐️. The novel seems to have like a light-hearted, funny older brother × evil younger brother dynamics sort of trope but it actually goes much deeper as the plot progresses. Personally, what I like about the novel are the characters. The plot is average but I like the characters of both the MC and ML (which is very rare for me HAHA).

While the ML is basically a demon and all, his character is not dislikeable like many "psycho" mls who are super unreasonable and mental. Xiao Lin actually tries... more>> to understand the MC and genuinely cares for the MC. Also they have a very interesting relationship dynamic due to the ml's complete lack of moral compass and the mc's constant internal ethical conflict. Shen Xingcong grows to love Xiao Lin but struggles -- to prioritise world peace or save the ml?

Tbh I started this novel bc I thought it would be like those dogblood, vinegar eating yandere novels but this one is definitely not as ridiculous/nonsensical as those due to the MC (his logical thinking). Two things that disappointed me are:

1. No smut... hello what's the yaoi tag for ??? They don't even make out that much. But they're still super sweet and I was giggling n kicking my feet n stuff (update: I changed the tag from yaoi to shounen ai so as to not misguide future readers)

2. The novel could be longer. I feel like the author rushed thru the plot which wasn't necessary at all. The ending was a lil sudden haha I thought it wld still drag on a bit more. It felt like I was watching the finale of a movie with the sunrise in the background and all 😭😭 Also the author could have spent more time on the supporting characters × MC relationship bc the MC just abandoned them... (I want to see them talk it out and give me some CLOSUREEEEE) Poor lan jin and mc's fellow martial brothers 😭😭

But yeah I recommend this read if u enjoyed the "Transmigrated into a heartthrob novel and went ooc" <<less

I really like this novel, at first I thought that it would be boring but the first few chapters make me change my mind, the best thing in it is the characters, most of the supporting characters are very complex and feel like real people, you find yourself attached very fast to them. But it is not a perfect novel I think that the ending could have been better but it didn't stop my enjoyment I think that if the tags and summary interest you, you should read it.... more>> Overall if you ignore a few things that needed more time it's a very good read. <<less

Interesting plot so far. 1 chapter per week is killing me. ʘ‿ʘ
Spoiler

ML is the evil seed born to destroy the world and MC transmigrate as his senior brother who ab*ses him. According to the novel MC read, ML will not hesitate to kill the ones who treated him well (a. K. A. His Dao Companion and other seniors)

ML seems to be very apathetic and not care about anyone at all. BUT, slowly starting to feel something (mainly obsession) for MC though he may not realize it.

MC is a moral person, despite the fact that he has intention to kill ML (who is a child) in the beginning (for sake of peace). MC decides against hurting him because ML convinces him he might not necessarily turn out to be evil (and because MC is afraid of killing). He simply just sticks to ML 24/7 and tries to prevent him from gaining his powers back. BUT there's a twist.

I like how their interactions are more realistic compared to other couples. Their relationship nature is purely transactional at the start and not romance right off the bat.

It's fun up to a certain point, then it became really tiring because the two main characters have differences they can't resolve. It's like watching a married couple put 'irreconcilable differences' on why they divorce, even though they like each other very much. Don't worry this is still a fun novel, it's just by the end I'm getting really tired of the same old problem popping up again. It's the same schtick, it's abit like watching someone keep running their head on a wall and getting surprised every time. Also... more>> the MC... he's a hypocrite sometimes, it can get annoying near the end.

Anyways, it's still a happy ending? Kind of a mess of a story, some parts makes me go 'is this really relevant?' but it's still a nice past time. <<less
