The premise screams of a good romcom! Having read till chapter 4, story looks promising.

There's been a whole lot of Villain MC trope in medieval book setting tags on NU. So it's refreshing to see something different done in a medieval setting.

The classic Boss-Subordinate relationship trope is more commonly used in modern day novels, however it takes a medieval spin in this story. Our ML is the Emperor, he seems like the epitome of male perfectness with good looks and immense power. The MC who had transmigrated into the book setting, used her knowledge of the plot to avoid any death flags and tries to be on her best behaviour in front of the ML. This causes the ML to grow wary of her and suspect her to be a spy planted by a political rival!

So, neither Rosaline nor Cahir (our secretary and Emperor) are quite right in the head. They'll do, say, or think things, and you'll think "what sort of human thinks that's ok?"

Even small things, like how her boss is always f@#&ing touching her face. In what universe is it acceptable for your boss to be touching your face? It's little, but shows how far from being able to recognize "normal" they've gotten.

Rosaline is able to pass for normal longer,... more>> so when it sneaks up on you that's she's just as bonkers as Cahir, it's a bit of a surprise realization, like finding you're a frog in some water someone set to boil a while ago.

Like, she will flat out turn ugly and attack people who call Cahir a psycho, and who feel bad for her having to be the secretary of a known perfectionist who chops people's heads off. And you'll be sitting there thinking, like, they're not wrong?? He does do that?? You literally were just acting like a proud mama that he didn't stab anyone and hasn't in a while?? Am I taking crazy pills?

Regardless, these psychos are very well matched in their psycho-ness. So their romance works and is fun to read. They never quite tip into "villain" territory, which is a pity. They're more like that one super intense couple in highschool who thought homemade matching padlock collars would be perfect for Valentine's, and then didn't understand (or notice, really) when other people looked at them weird.

I am going to agree with paputsza's review that this has vibes like a PG, vanilla version of 50 Shades.

There is a manwha of this. The art is... unique. All of the characters are drawn with intense crazy eyes, and there seems to be zero understanding of Western historical dress (the secretary wears an evening ball gown to her job interview, and then a dowdy afternoon tea dress (which changes design details between panels) to an actual ball) But crazy eyes just sort of fit these weirdly intense characters, and the setting isn't detailed much outside of "vaguely historical, of indeterminate era, Europe-esque, but with concubines." <<less

I heard that this novel was really good and that I should give it a try, so here I am. Why didn’t anyone tell me how bad the translation quality is? : (What’s the point of being a translator if all you do is put it though google and post it? They get the genders mixed up, the grammar isn’t very good. All in all, the actual story is interesting but I’m not a fan of the translator.

The prolog seems promising, though I can't say much at this point. But I appreciate the translation as it captured the scene beautifully.

So far, Im really enjoying the start of the story. There's no big dump of information, or lengthy explanations and world building but you can get the gist of the story.

The characters are interesting. Cant say yet how character development will turn out but its to be expected mostly with the arrogant emperor.

OMG YAY, I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS TO BE TRANSLATED SINCE FOREVER!! The prologue and synopsis sounds really fun and interesting, so I can't wait for this to be translated further >< (Rating 5star based on how I enjoyed reading the the prologue and stuff)

I feel like everyone is a little too extra, but I haven't liked josei smut before, so this may be normal. It's not a fantasy story and yet someone tried to get the MC to not work for the emperor because he's a "monster who can eat women whole." Who says things like that? Also, he calls her pretty when they first meet and tries to fire her for it, which is kind of a little too on the nose, considering we do not know that she dressed to suit... more>> his taste until then, and there's not enough world building to let us know what is fashionable in this vaguely European era that has polygamous emperors. Basically, the whole story is vanilla 50 Shades of Gray and the MC is a very flat family woman, who is described as quirky, but isn't quirky at all. <<less

The story is only in it's early stages but the premise is interesting so far, and the female lead is very likeable in that she takes matters into her own hands. The translations are also really smooth and well done so I'm looking forward to reading more!

This series is a really entertaining read. Whilst it was initially off to a weak start, it quickly improved. By weak start, I am referring to the laboured early translation. Whilst I appreciate people going to the effort to make these eastern titles accessible, grammatical issues and weird references to NU within the first chapter take away from the immersion. This was enough to drop my rating down one point from 5 to 4. I'm so glad someone picked this up again. This is actually a good read. Definitely worth reading
