It feels like I'm listening to my 12 year old brother explaining his imaginary superpower fight.

This world and Powersystem sounds really cool... even the characters feel multifaceted.

But I don't know what to feel reading this.

... more>> Is the MC really strong? No clue....

Is the MC actually kind of weak and just gaslit everyone? No clue....

Is he somewhere in the middle between gaslighting and actually being powerful?

I don't fckn know....

Everything is just happening.

It's hard to say whether a situation is dangerous or whether we should just enjoy the show.

It feels like the Author brainfarted all over the plot.

There is no sense of structure, explanations sound like scientific papers and fights feel like playing Yu-Gi-Oh without knowing the rules.

Maybe all of that got lost in the translation??

Still I see the potential and I love the Cyberpunk/Magic vibe and setting of the world.

The Boss and the MC also have a cool relationship that I'd love to see more of.

But as of now I can't keep reading this.

Keeping my rating high to see if this gets better in the future. <<less

Dont trust the low rating. The series is good and has a unique aspects unlike the other stories so far.

It has the similar vibe of Let this Grieving Soul retire. The protagonist is Orthes, a transmigrator.

Carisia is his boss. Leader and President of Hydra Corporation.

... more>> Arabelle, First Director. Intelligence.

MC is trying his best to prevent the ascension of the Mage King : the blonde protagonist, and resign as a confidant of the boss. The story is about 'misunderstanding' and I feel disheartened how vile the cruel raters rate it too low. It deserves a novel award somehow. The setting has a mixed development of 2077 cyberpunk with ancient magic.

I dont want to spoil any further, but rest assured, it is worth of your time if you are a fan of this type of comedy work.

I dont recommend it to OP hungered, serious type, Yuri and Yaio readers because the series aint pe*verted enough to become like that.

I highly recommend it to readers who actually loves comedy and laugh. <<less

I really enjoy this story. I was afraid it would be generic and still it is a little early to tell but I've already enjoyed myself immensely so I'm giving it five stars!

Unfortunately if you are looking for a story that constantly follows the relationship between the main character and his boss (I love those) you'll be disappointed, at least until where I've read. Rather this story really is about how he is working in a sci-fi magic corporation and making his impressions on those around him. It's interesting because... more>> while his impressions do still rely on misunderstandings--I hate those >: (-- the main character is still actually competent and dare I say cool as the second in command of the boss!

The setting is nice and a real highlight that helps the story to distinguish itself, reminding me a little of warhammer 40k with the techno magic/pyschic stuff at points and is nicely spiced in with the characters shenanigans and plots. Speaking of characters I do enjoy them too! Since its so early there hasn't been much development of any of them but at least in their descriptions with techno magic stuff embedded inside of them, some having six mechanical limbs etc.

Anyway wished I could say more but it's like 4am and I wish for this to have a long and healthy translation :) <<less

It reads weird, sort of like cleaned-up MTL. Some dialogue makes little sense. New terms are introduced left and right. Sometimes sentences are a bit weird.

The novel is based on misunderstandings, similar to the eminence in the shadows I'd say - the MC doesn't necessarily have any complex plans but it always gets interpreted as such. It's a bit silly sometimes, especially in a novel that's not going for comedy. Some extrapolations outright don't make sense.

So far, the world is really interesting - I'd say it's the best part of... more>> the novel. Looking forward to how it develops. <<less

This review is highly subjective, but here it goes. I originally thought of giving it just 4 stars, but the story shows so much potential that I decided to bump up my rating. The setting is unique, blending cyberpunk themes with magic and gods, a combo I haven't come across before.

The story itself is quite good, and the comedy and misunderstandings add a lot of charm. There are a lot of unknown elements that keep popping up, adding to the mystery behind the MC. However, the frequent POV shifts can... more>> be a bit confusing. As for the action scenes, meh.

On the bright side, the world-building is developing nicely, and the translation is solid, which is crucial given the frequent POV changes. If it were poorly translated, it would be hard to keep track of who's talking.

Overall, it's a good read with a very unique setting and power system. The misunderstandings and evolving world-building show a lot of potential. However, it does suffer from too many POV changes and random plot elements that aren't explained in advance, making the story a bit hard to follow. Right now, I'd rate it an 7.5/10.

PS. If the story starts getting repetitive and is still making no progress after Chapter 38, I might have to drop my rating to 4 stars or lower. Right now, I'm giving it 5 stars because it shows a lot of potential and there's room for improvement as it progresses. I'm really hoping it delivers on that promise.

Also here's the list of characters that has the most impact in the story, just so that I won't forget.

Spoiler

•Orthes - MC, No Mana, Anti-Magic, Narrow Eyes, Faint Presence, Intimidating, Smiling, Skilled Swordsman/Assassin, Gets misunderstood/pushover (?), Superhuman

•Carisia - MC's boss, Hydra Corporation Leader, Light Magician, Divinity Incarnation/Fragment

•Arabelle - Arachnid Queen, 70% Cyber, Intelligence gathering

•Meconion - Green haired Alruane-human hybrid, Drug Dealer

•Kaicle - 3m Giant, Pythos Tower, Mage

•Geryon - Looks like Dr. Octopus, Betrayal then got beaten up

•Divius - Body Modifier

•Dimedes - Beast Tamer

•Neuro - Head of Hunter's Association

[collapse]

Forgot to add this in, but the MC isn't an all-powerful character, he's just strong and his eye powers is incredibly burdensome for his body. <<less

So premise has MC reincarnated into a story he had read when on Earth before the story begins.

MC is a mysterious shady guy whose social skills and general demeanor culminate in him being a “suspicious bastard.” His boss is a big villain who he unknowingly picked up and helped found their organization.

Spoiler

Her goal is to destroy an OP artifact (one of ten) and legacy of the Mage King who was the protagonist of the story MC originally read before arriving in this world.

[collapse]
So cue the antics and misunderstandings that ensue while MC works to not have the world go from cyberpunk (magic punk?) to an apocalyptic hellscape that the original story concluded with. <<less

Rating 3.5 Stars

* The translation reads strange. It feels like there is something missing there is usually nothing wrong with the sentence but sometimes I get confused it happens less and less as you go further though

*I am really intrigued by the setting in the story. Its a dystopian technologically advanced world with magic and a setting where holy powers are presently considered outdated and weaker than magic ever since the gods were ousted/defeated/killed?

Theres also hints of cultivation with 10 factions representing the magical elements competing to gather resources in... more>> order to "ascend".

There are humans (no races so far) dwarves, mutants (chimeras), spirits (dryad), elves (dark elf), Artificial beings etc. And even different classes Cyborgs, Wizards, Druids, Technomancers, Necromancers, Tamers/Summoners?

Honestly if you have watched the anime Blood Brigade you'd recognize the settings especially the thing about the MC's eyes.

*Characterization is kind of lacking I feel like I just know the basics of the characters bio-data the settings for the personality of characters are provided but somehow it comes off as bland. I am not sure if it is intentional for the purpose of story driven writing or just a lack of as the author isn't very big in visualization of the locations for example.

There are no le*d pe*verted humor despite the haremy feel and misunderstanding trope prevalent in the story. But honestly with the cast and settings of this world I'm more disappointed it followed the cliche that the main characters are one male and the rest all female and the other males are mostly villains/henchmen or backdrops.

Summary: At 65 chapters its too early to tell if this book is good or bad. But so far its been an ok read. It wasn't particularly exciting or boring but it does have intrigue. My personal opinion is with the authors smorgasbord of world settings I both respect, pity and slightly think their insane there are so many settings that everything is quite literally possible its either going to be an epic or a bunch of deus ex machinas if they go the simpler route. So Im putting this on read later 2 years from now. <<less

This story is good, I would rate it a 3.5/5 if it didn't have potential to improve.

The pacing is great, the plot so far is pretty standard; protagonist transmigrated into a villain and is using the metaknowledge of the novel plot to change destiny. The protagonist is decently interesting, but falls into the drama-whinging pushover that complains over everything. Which means that it also falls into the standard trope where all the bystanders misunderstand the protagonist and swoon in awe over his every word and motion.

The action in the novel... more>> is somewhat lackluster, but not enough to really penalize their score. Though I do hope that the action scenes become better written as time goes on, as they currently have plenty of lead up and very little pay off.

There is some pretty solid plot development in 33 chapters, but the character development is far vaguer as the work plays into the drama and misunderstanding. Which means that their either has to be some concrete decisions and exposition in the next 30ish chapters, that will make the novel better as it increases its gravitas. Or, it will not have any concrete decisions and exposition and fall into being a novel-slog where the author just churns out the same arc over and over again with each iteration being more stale than the last.

But! I have hope! I think that this novel will continue to develop its characters and plot, moving up from the 3.5 star rating I want to give it now and achieving the 5 star rating I believe that it can be! <<less

Story is interesting with the background world being Cyberpunk with magic. While the same tropes like narrow-eyed villain, transmigrated into a game, misunderstandings, and using future knowledge is generic. With all the organizations and lore introduced make it deeply encompassing then add in some good action, it becomes fun. The world and how the characters interact in it makes the story go.

Pretty fun, but I do find the fact that everything's a misunderstanding a bit tiresome. Later chapter does introduce variable that MC can't flub his way around, but it's not enough to reinvigorate the trope.

Still, the world building is great and cohesive, likely due to the author's knowledge on the settings and its fusion. It made for a very pleasant reading experience when the trope isn't overused.

Review time. I binge read this and I just couldn't get enough. The novel is entertaining. The setting is a magical world but set in the year 2074, where advancements in magitech means that there things such as an astrally projected internet, robot factories handling mana storage devices, maglev trains with anti-magic barriers, etc. The story of the world itself is different than others, where the world just IS. Here it is explained how it became what it is because of the Mage King, a powerful magic user that ended... more>> the era of the gods and brought forth the age of magic, and then ascended into a higher plane of existence (except he didn't because he got stabbed in the back by his 10 disciples, which went on to found the 10 Commandments, attributes of magic stolen from the Mage King, and ruled the new era in his place). That's the setting, and here is the conflict, the MC is the enigmatic minion of the first-disc boss, who would face the returned Mage King, die, and jumpstart the end of the world. Suffice to say he has issues with the world ending <<less

There isn't much for me to say here that others haven't already said. I have a full review on the blog but here's the key points.

Very interesting world, a magic based cyberpunk world. Intriguing world history and story with a lot of mystery elements related to both the protagonist and story progression.

But the same misunderstanding being the key in every single story arc gets really repetitive. Also I dont know what that guy was thinking but just because other female characters are present doesn't mean this is a harem novel.... more>> There's arguably no romance in this at all despite the MC calling the boss as 'the one he chose'. The characters are mostly two dimensional just because they all have the samey view of the MC that seems never changing. <<less
