The characters are fun and interesting, their relationship and interactions are great, the setting is compelling.

But the plot and aspiration of the MC are so damn boringgggg.

I quite literally fell asleep trying to slug through it, damn, if that’s not an accomplishment.

It’s like the author has a multiple answer questions tests in front of him, and when he develop the plot, he ALWAYS choose the absolutely most boring option possible.

What a waste.

I was simply unable to bring myself to continue reading this. Its just so damn boring. There are no stakes, nothing compelling. The writing itself isn’t particularly entertaining either. Its so aggressively average that it tends towards bad.

Ofc, as is somewhat typical of Korean novels now, this novel too starts with first person POV from the MC but then quickly switches to third person for seemingly no good reason, since the POV is still of the MC. Other characters get their glimpses of POV but its not particularly deep.

The story... more>> can just be best described as slow and mediocre. It seems the author is trying to make the flow as ‘plausible’ but he’s trying so hard that he forgot to actually make it ‘fun’ to read.

The setting of the MC, being a sort of veteran hero is supposed to be interesting but the author never brings up what it actually *meant*. The MC just seems to treat it like any other average job. Also having this whole ‘system’ that gives him points and hell even a ‘random skill book’ sure is way counter to plausibility. If he wanted consistency so bad why didn’t he just give a fixed skill tree with progression?

I can already see these ‘random’ elements of the shop and skill books coming together to very conveniently allow him to solve some weird esoteric issue. The other characters are kinda bland too. Oh look this supposedly powerful and top performer girl is really bad with directions, ive never seen that done before.

The MC also looks towards the characters as actual ‘characters’ from the game. Since he just can’t stop making comments like “this never happened in the game” or “look how cute she looks”. Not that he ever goes in depth about what exactly he likes about them so much.

Anyways, I kept trying to pick this novel up again and again only to drop it because I felt I had better things to do. Have read till chapter 17. Certainly doesn’t seem to have any sort of hidden potential inside its boundless quest for mediocrity. <<less

Yet another Academy game transmigration novel, and a very bog standard one at that. It plays to pretty much all of the tropes. Which isn't a bad thing necessarily, but when that's all it does it makes it feels like a paint by the numbers kind of story. As if the author is just checking boxes instead of actually creating anything themselves. The positively glacial pacing does not help with that.

Both translations are readable, with Genesis being noticeably better in quality, but Lore has much faster uploads at the cost... more>> of incorrect pronouns and grammatical errors, it's not the worst TL I have read but it isn't great. <<less

Rohan was born in a world where monsters would emerge through randomly appearing gates. He developped supernatural powers early on, and became a hunter, though a weak one, and, because of that, lost his childhood. As the gates stopped appearing, the hunters' powers slowly started disappearing along with them, and Rohan's life slowly lost its purpose. One day, the game company that created his favorite gacha academy game, told him they wanted to create a character based on him for the game. And, the second he received his character's student... more>> ID card as a gift, he got transported into the game world as his game character. But Rohan doesn't know anything about that character, except for his two special skills (listed in the "summary" above). And, since he would mainly roam around the map and raise his favorite characters when he was playing the game, he's lacking a lot of game knowledge in general. Still, while he wants nothing more than a peaceful normal life and to enjoy the student's life he never lived, he has to work hard to prevent the game tragic events from unfolding since the game protagonist never made an appearance.

Let's be clear: it has nothing special. Still, I appreciate that the author tries to make things plausible. Yes, the game setting makes it easy for the MC in many ways, which is indeed a strong plot armour, but at the very least it's an actual setting and not opportunities happening randomly with no explanation whatsoever (like when he meets Clara, it's actually a reward and not just a lucky event) ; plus it's just helping, the MC still has to spend time and efforts to turn things into actual opportunities.

Aside from that, the author tries to make things seem natural: It's obvious the MC would be very happy about being sent to this game world because his life in his previous world was about to end anyway. The relationships grow at a normal pace (girls don't throw themselves at him after one or two meetings, they don't even consider themselves his friends or start looking for him). The protagonist is competent but not overly competent; he is a veteran and it shows but that's it. He doesn't know everything and is a hard worker. And while he does have a great fondness for the "characters" he raised in the game, he is not obsessed with them or anything. He actually acts like a normal human being, and those around him, while not entirely normal, are still acting "normally"; for exemple: Ichinose, while not being good with directions, is capable of going to the academy by herself after a short while (unlike many such characters).

Another thing I like is that the everyday life is properly intertwined with the rest of the story and is pretty heartwarming. The other parts are more like the life of a "shadow mercenary", mostly at night, killing people, looking for information (and loot).

In summary, while the story is very cliché so far and expected, I like both the characters and the author's efforts to actually make the story and development seem believable. Still, because of the clichés, it's predictable and a bit dull at times. You won't hold your breath waiting for the next chapter. <<less

The novel is really peaceful and interesting to read, not the type where there are many thing at stake. If I were to talk about it without giving spoilers, it would be like living a fairly normal life, just with abilities and monsters. Like, there is a whole bunch of things are going on but at the same time, there are none. The main character is focused on making sure the characters he once played do not go down the bad ending route as there is no main character which... more>> would be found in the game. He also find things about those characters that he wouldn't have found through playing the game. Overall, its a really wholesome read and I can't wait to read more. <<less

I really like it, but I think you have to read this more of as a slice of life story than an action story. The greater world plot really takes a backseat here. It's basically the everyday life of a rather heroic figure who gets to live in the world of his favorite game. So, the pace is slow, but honestly I appreciate that, and it paints a rather vivid world :)

The story is mid, and, while Im not a big fan of harems in general, they wrote the harem badly. Not only do the girls hard fall in love one-sidedly, they go from having somewhat distinct personalities to having almost the exact same deredere personality. As a cherry on top, the MC is much older before he transmigrated.
