Xie Guanze woke up to find that the world had changed and that pets had become elite people! His neighbor’s Alaskan Malamute is taking the test to become a civil servant; the c*ckroach is helping the bear child with his math homework; his sergeant’s monkey is helping teach his grandson how to fight to become a school bully.

By contrast, his parrot is a good pet. He not only became the head of the food department with his cooking skills, but also led the osprey and seagull to start a business, hunted and cooked alive, and successfully launched a chain network Red Restaurant. After his rise, the parrot did not forget his original intention. He still went with him to eat and live together and took good care of his master with delicious food.

At night, Xie Guanze was content to lie in bed, “Life is only three meals a day, enough… Eh?”

In the quilt, the parrot’s voice was deep, “After three meals, we should do the rest.”

I'm not satisfied! Why are there so few chapters ?! MC and ML just got together in the last chapter. I wanted a longer chapter because his ML is funny and he's shy. Other pets are also very cute hehehe with characters and jobs that suit them.

TvT... the summary was misleading. I expected some sort of censored smut, but guess what!? The two leads only got together in the last chapter and it was kinda bittersweet as well...... more>>

because pets have limited lifespans so in the end the ML will die earlier than the MC. A very abrupt ending.

The translation quality was also pretty rough, which is partially why I didn't quite like this, but the writing style also felt pretty bland and I couldn't feel any sort of romance blooming between the MC and ML.

In general, this was an interesting premise that definitely should've been elaborated more and there could have been so much more development, but it didn't happen. I'd only recommend for killing time. <<less

The premise started out funny and interesting, but a couple issues:

  • MTL translation, definitely not very accurate in some places and the humor is lost
  • Boring - too easy to lose all interest in this story due to all the sentences having the same pacing, plot was very random (MC starts as a police officer but basically almost never does his job and becomes some kind of human education inspector instead), constant lack of tension
The worldbuilding started out interesting (pets turning into humans and human law being changed to accomodate them)... more>> but 90% of the story becomes about describing a giant cast. Like literally almost an entire school.

Being a short story, there's not a lot of room for endless filler or 900+ things to happen. But that's exactly what the author gives us: a plethora of inconsequential, barely described, disconnected events that utterly lack tension and never answer the question: WHY DOES THIS MATTER?

Even the MC/ML feel like background characters. Most of the time, they are going with the flow and everyone else is describing doing more interesting things than they are.

Even the human trafficking case flew by so fast, you never see those supporting characters again.

The story is relatively short, quite sweet, there are some funny moments (I wouldn't call it a comedy, though) and there are some sad moments. It is good if you want a relatively right read.

The reason why I am giving four stars is because the summary is terribly misleading. What they say in the summary is mostly what happens at the end and after the story. The story itself is more about how they all deal with the social repercussions of pets turning into humans than anything else.

I was looking... more>> forward to the relationship between the MC and his parrot. It's completely normal for parrots to think their owners are their mate, which brings a lot of problems during the breeding season - any proper parrot owner can tell stories. I thought the author would use this in the story, since I thought they deliberately chose the ML to be a parrot for this, and I was very excited about it. Unfortunately, there was absolutely no romance between the MC and ML, only a hint at the end that they might be starting to develop a relationship in the future. Nothing about the ML's instincts in relation to the breeding season was there.

There were also a few other inaccuracies in the portrayal of the biology and etology of some of the animals. <<less

The pet interactions were cute and kinda funny, but

the last two chapters are a bit depressing. Second to last chapter, a pet we're introduced to in the beginning dies and it's really sad. Then another also dies, but while the first is from pet ab*se, the second is from natural death.

Author really waited to the last chapter to remind readers that pets still have pet lifespans even after gaining the ability to become human. Imagine having a pet with a 2 year lifespan. The MC's c*ckatoo parrot is apparently 60 years old, I don't know how long the lifespan is but it does make for a bleak future.

Other than that, the little romance present in the story was disappointing.

I haven't read much, but what I've read so far is a bit erratic. The pacing is kinda wonky, and the characters could be more fleshed out. Even if it's a short story, it could be written a bit more... solidly. Like, I think... an arc just started and ended in one chapter all of a sudden? And it was written (or translated) a bit confusingly.

That said, not bad if you want to read something simple and amusing. I just don't personally want to be thrown around for like 28... more>> more chapters, haha. Also, I hear that the romance basically starts at the end. I can see that happening because the MC and ML don't seem to match romantically at all imo. I think I'd enjoy the novel more if they were just best friends. <<less

The title is Absolutely Wrong! The last 2 paragraphs of the summary also wasn't right with the story.

But the story..... Is much more than you would ever expect!

At first I thought it would be full Comedy!...I was so wrong. Sure it has Comedy for 1/2 part of the story that's it! The other half; Deep... Heavy... Emotional...

... more>> I literally shedding tears twice! I felt like I should have expect all that moment and feels but I didn't!!!

But the author did Great at writing both Comedy and Emotional moments... I enjoyed it and loving it.... but I'm still emotional... <<less

It's short but with entertaining plot. Most plot focus on human-pet relationship from MC/ML POV. Really worth reading. A humane story. No angst and with HE too♥️♥️♥️

I found it so cute and funny. I liked how they expressed their love by taking care of each other, and the romance developed quite slowly, almost imperceptible, until near the end. The chapter where the pets were dying because of their short life spans got me so emotional, I cried 😭

Loved the ending, they deserve the happiness.

So while this story wasn't heavy on romance, there was a lot of love in it. And humor and some sadness too. The author is obviously someone who really loves animals and is also aware of many of the problems that crop up between pets and owners. I actually rate this a 4.5 for a few little plot gaps and scene transition hiccups that got in the way, but they weren't major.

The story starts off with a lot of fluff and humor as a horde of pet-humans streaks their way... more>> across the city. I love that Xie King keeps his c*ckatiel feather crest that goes up and down even when he has hair. That's just too cute. And the monkey girl with all the references to Journey to the West is really a hoot.

As a person who just about has an aneurysm every time one of those save ab*sed animals ads comes on television, I appreciate that the author included the dark side of pet owners and literally gave pets a voice. Yes, I cried when

I actually found the character of the MC quite interesting. He was very thoughtful and observant about the situations that arose as the pet-people grew comfortable with their new situations and the need for better rights for the pet-people, and also his acceptance of his love for his parrot-man.

It would have been lovely to see a little more romance between our MC and ML, and I will say that this is one of the few times when I would have liked another few chapters, but I enjoyed it all the same. <<less

Oof, another misleading story but I don’t mind at all, didn’t see the knives coming at all. I however agree with the inconsistencies which made me not fully immerse myself (for e.g The role/characteristics of the MC) but I get the message behind it (main reason why I gave it 5⭐️).

It would’ve been better if there were more chapters to fully flesh out these things properly like the relationship of the Main CP.

This is nice story. I love how the story progressed and its focused wasn't only on sell Meng. It's not that MC and ML are only special case that pet turned into human, but whole society, and upcoming events. This is cute and comedic story, but also make me cried a lot too. It's not have any dog blood drama event, just the facts about pets situation in reality, but still make me cried so hard.

The only downside is that author is a bit rushed for MC and ML relationship,... more>> it's not quick but not tell much in detail. I would like to read about their relationship interactions more. Well, I haven't come over my emotional mood yet, and the story end and
