I have mixed feelings about this novel, but I can see a lot of potential, even though I've only read a few chapters. The setup is pretty unique: the protagonist was transmigrated to a fantasy world 10 years ago and became a powerful swordsman. Her past is still a bit vague, with the novel only dropping hints here and there, which adds a layer of mystery to her backstory.

What really sets this novel apart from other transmigration stories is the VR twist. The protagonist doesn't know that the "undying" people... more>> she encounters are actually players from a VR game, and the players have no idea that the world they're playing in is real. It's got a similar vibe to The Legendary Mechanic, which I find really interesting.

The protagonist is pretty unique, and while the plot and world-building are still developing, the side-characters are pretty solid and has depth, they're not just cardboard cut-outs, there's definitely a lot of potential here. I'm confident it will improve as the story goes on, which is why I'm giving it a 5-star rating. I genuinely like it so far. I know this review is more subjective and doesn't dive deep into the specifics, but I still wanted to share my initial thoughts.

PS. There's a language barrier, so communication with the players is difficult, that's why MC still doesn't know that the players are "players" <<less

It starts really well and interesting, it develops well MC traumatic experiences and her depression, but some of the author justifcations are weak for her behaviour like that.

The story of the world is weak, and goes to a cliche boring direction.

Some criticism with spoilers

Spoiler

The relationship and antics gets very repetitive, Canaria from a cold traumatized person, starts to look like a sociopath psycho a**hole, and everyone finds anything she does cute, this happens until you get tired of it

- Her trauma explains why she's distant and sad, but not why she acts like a psycho, her previous life memories from modern world, would have make her mature and have values that are not like "kill anyone that pisses me off" "treats everyone like tr*sh", even by standards of that world she's off by people that were close to her, but its not what we see, she acts like a psycho pissed of depressed teenager.

- Joanie has no depth and story going on, her only thing is to find everything canaria does cute, and follow her around, no story, nothing.

- Spoiler from chapter 60 that made me drop the series:

Canaria finds out the truth of the world and gets more depressed and pissed off and then she almost kills joanie, just because she tried to wake her up, like wtf, even knowing Joanie cant die, this was too much and did not made any sense.

- I know the author is trying to build up her slowly opening up to joanie, but I thing he exagerated too much, probably it will improve (i think), but I got tired of it.

This is soooo good - an original setting, interesting plot (as far as it's reached in 29 chapters), and interesting and engaging characters. At this point it's easily in the top 10% or so of stories I've read here, though of course it's got a long way to go.

Two things really stand out: the setting, and the quality of the writing.

The writing is excellent. It's well paced and structured, making what could be a somewhat confusing mix of perspectives easy to follow. The use of language is good (as far... more>> as can be judged through the translation) - emotional cues and other subtleties come through well without feeling heavy handed, and it's just generally enjoyable to read. It's not perfect, of course - the greatest weakness of serialised storytelling is the difficulty involved with going back and fixing things after they've been published, and this shows up in occasional awkwardness in the language, or elements that are slightly overdone or that drag on a little. But it's not reasonable to demand perfection from this kind of thing, so I'm comfortable with excusing it.

The setting is, on the face of it, just another isekai with VRMMO elements, but it's assembled in a unique way: the isekai parts are (to all intents and purposes) completely separate from the VRMMO parts, with neither side having the slightest idea of the other. This makes for an interesting storytelling frame - the isekaied character is seen as a raid boss by the VRMMO players, and an unfairly difficult (read, impossible) one to beat because they're so strategically and tactically smart and unpredictable; the isekaied character sees the players as weird entities that are so weak they seem like bugs, with their only distinguishing feature being the blessing of God that allows them to revive after being killed. Neither side sees the other as human, initially - the plot really starts when that begins to change.

There are the usual hints that there's more going on behind the VRMMO world, as well as hints about backstory and mysteries in both worlds; the hints are subtle and laid down well, but they really contribute to the general feel of the setting.

All told, it's a really interesting and engaging story world, one that makes me feel there's lots to look forward to as the story develops.

Finally, the translation quality is excellent - it reads pretty much as native English, with almost no awkwardness coming from cultural and linguistic impedance mismatch. This is probably helped by the setting being almost exclusively a virtual world, but it's well done nonetheless. Updates seem to drop quickly and regularly, though they seem to have started very recently so how it will pan out longer term remains to be seen. If they can continue producing work of thus quality at the current pace if one or two chapters a day it'll be great. <<less

Horrible, extremely paiinful level of bad worldbuilding. Too cliche and even more disappointing bec it also did a bad job, how did even the author managed to do a bad job with this cliche worldbuilding, I dont even understand. The only reedeming part is; ... more>>

We look at the world from the eyes of a NPC native as MC, not the overused player to NPC reincarnation. This was refreshing, but just this isn't enough.

Horrible portrayals that stifle your visual imagination. And also horrible action scenes.

Too much explaining, no show. Dont explain to us, show us. Dont tell of why and how. Let us find out. You did let us find out-

the insecurities and contradicting actions of the MC

-ourself, this was good. But its not enough. We need more. Dont tell us everything.

Unnecessary genderbender, and slightly botched in explaining why the MC has kid mentality. Altough author tried and did an OK job of explaining, its not enough in my opinion.

Some translation problems and some problems in clarity of the dialogs' owners.

BUT, it did a very good job of making decent characters, both the MC and side characters. Some of the emotional and depressing moments are excellent, especially the one about name of the MC and her relationships with others. But the rest? The most of the other "depressing" moments are too cliche unfortunately. Its so cliche that hearing it one more time doesnt even move us anymore.

Its a 1/5 novel. But its also a 5/5 novel. I will give it 5/5, but if only u want to read a kid's slice of life and her bonds with others. Not for anything else. <<less

Cute novel with a deep underlying plot. The synergy between the mmo player and the MC is nice and sstisfying to see the two bond. The translator is aslo speedy and great so make sure to support them.

The way this story is being executed is very unique. The setting is rather generic in many ways, but the execution is what is shining through. (The world is a real isekai, but somehow people playing an MMORPG (virtual reality) have been connected to the world. This story reminds me of things like Game of the World Tree, Infinite Dendrogram, and Log Horizon. However, the main character doesn't realize that the undying adventurers/mercenaries are MMORPG players. Life is serious for her and then all these incomprehensible, mad people show up... more>> suddenly.) <<less

Actually good? The plot for now is quite interesting how she is entertaining the players, and I really like the fact that the np feels fleshed out, yeah im talking bout u blacksmith, that's all I can say since it's mostly about players and her clashing then story moves, it's a spoiler if I say what's next so I had to end it here but give it a try, it has short to medium length per chapter
