Description

The story follows the High-schooler Futsu Jintarou, whose confession was rejected by his crush.

His misfortune continues, as news of a gender-change disease turns Jintarou into a beautiful silver haired girl. The shock of it causes him (her) to try to escape from reality by playing the VRMMO, Clan/Clan…

His game character Taro uses the same girl appearance as in the Real and the Alchemy skill, which most players call a tr*sh skill.

He meets lots of fellow adventurers, and becomes stronger within the game world of Clan/Clan’s slogan, ‘When one becomes an adventurer, they can fight, steal, control, explore, invent, create, and do anything as they like’.

He meets a wide variety of adventurers that help him (her) grow, Taro hides what happened to his (her) appearance as a bug to his friends who also play the game, and hides the fact that he (she) had become a girl in real life.

When summer break is over, he (she) will have to show their face at school.

This is about one of the best National-class adventurers, the story of the Alchemist who won a war without even taking a single step. When a normal high school student suddenly turns into a beautiful girl, what would they do?

The answer is to that is to become an MMO Junkie!

So after 15 Minutes of using some online japanese to english translator I think the most accurate tranlation of the titel I can get with them is " I have become a beautiful girl, but I am just a useless Netgame Addict".

Now that less people are confused with the titel here is my review.

TLDR.: Irl parts quite good with uniqe and interesting plot.

... more>> VR parts are a bad isekai power fantasy and are completly skipable except for a few chapters due to poor writing

Edit 4:

The story is separated into two parts the real life one and the Vrmmorpg one.
Which normally wouldn't be a problem, but for some reason the author decided that character and plot developments only happen in the Real-life part.

This novel seems like the author had a good idea what he could do with a Vrmmo novel but didn't know how to write an interesting Vrmmo part.

I mean it is on the level of being able to skip nearly every Vrmmo chapter up to now and you would still be able to understand the story perfectly (Up to chapter ~80 anyway after that they become a bit more relevant)

Contrary to the Vrmmo part the Real-Life part is written really well. It has character and plot development, has been planned out really well and if the Vrmmo part had been a bit better, dishes out one of the best Plot twists in the history of Vrmmo novels.

If you manage to get past the first part of Vrmmo chapters and get to about chapter 100 or so it becomes very interesting so if you have the patience read that far then do it!

Edit 5:

I thougth interesting and uniqe plot ideas are good enough to make and keep a novel enjoyable, even if they are poorly written but leave it up to this novel to prove me wrong.

While the story keeps getting more and more interesting everything else is disappointing.

The VR degenerated into an even worse version than what it had in the beginning. The author finally tried to make it a more important part of the plot and even succeeded with that, but in the later chapters he adds filler arcs and then suddenly puts in important developments that would need to be tackled immediatly but still continuing the filler arc as if nothing happend. This results in a complete disconnect between parts of the story and makes it near unreadable.

Chapters 80 - ~250 are mostly quite good hype up the next part of the story but the rest isn't really worth your time so my rating goes down to a 3/5. <<less

Very comfy story, but my only gripe is how the MC does not want to confess their gender-bender scenario to their own sister.

With the way how the author describes their relationship, you would think the older sister is more than qualified to handle the truth bomb. But nope, the author writes the MC to have ptsd when it comes to confessing.

To make it worse, its justified by the MC that s/he should avoid help altogether because they will be a burden for the sister.

If what you are looking for is a mix of "Slice of Life" and "Adventure" with a nekama (?) MC this might be the WN for you.

If you are looking for actual "Romance" or "Comedy" then you should probably be looking somewhere else...

Now for the actual review (as of c200) :

... more>> As the title says we got a MC who turned into a beautiful girl (read: loli) but became a net game addict.

First chapter could give the impression that this might be turning into some sort of romcom but for further development of the story (at least until c200) MC's crush might aswell not exist.

As you might have figured out from the MC turining into a girl thing, the RL part of the story is not that much on the scientific side. The genre of this WN should be "Contemporary Fantasy" even though it might not seem as such at first.

The MC spends most of his/her time online. We get the MC-doing-unusual-build-which-turns-out-to-be-OP-somehow pattern. We mostly get the MC exploring the virtual world (and sometimes the real world) in a kind of mypace style. VR world parts can be kind of bland as they tend to drag on longer then they should sometimes (though that might just be my impression as I have read similar things already). The Real world part is really interesting with lots of changes happening and how all that might or might not relate to the MC (have not read anything similar to that).

Some things that might turn you off though:

-The lolicon virus seems to have infected wide numbers of the population (MC fan club can be annoying)

-Author increased the main cast too much => characters other than MC not getting much "screen time"

-MC's intelligence should be like ~6 times that of an average person and MC is still acting like that... <<less

Very rough translation, generic VRMMO tropes, interesting IRL spin.

Basically it's worth the read if you can stand the usual MTL roughness and the cultural disconnect. Though after chapter 15 things just get so redundant you can skip 90% of any given chapter and still know what is going on due to pointlessly drawn out conversations of characters repeating information all involved already know multiple times.

MC shows in spades the "I must never be a burden to my family" culture aspect of many East Asian countries that would be labeled "toxic... more>> masculinity" by some circles in the west. It's the seemingly bizarre obsession with appearing strong to the point you make everything worse.

Like the family's breadwinner not telling anyone they have stage 4 cancer when they've known for over a year it was terminal (Actual family situation of a guy I knew in college).

It's such a niche part of the culture that anyone who didn't grow up on it sees it as monumentally s*upid.

In this specific case MC decided not to tell anyone who should have been told that he's #7 of the mysterious body swapping disease. He doesn't tell his sister who by all rights deserves to know. Doesn't tell the government that any IDs he has are now invalid, the health professionals trying to figure out the disease, or anyone who might actually be able to help him/her.

Why? You might ask, he/she might say pride or shame, but the real answer is simple selfish s*upidity. He/she is pointlessly making their life harder by withholding this kind of info. 2 phone calls and 80% of their crisis is over. But no, they sit there and suffer because f*ck asking for help in a situation so rare only 6 others have experienced and no one in their right mind would expect a 15 year old to deal with alone. Wouldn't want to seem like a burden on the family.

I would change my rating to 1 star after reading farther but it wont let me. <<less

When I reviews, it's either short or long. But when it really triggers me, I am saying it frontally and as bold as possible.

This Thing, I'll say "unbearable" to read. So, be wary that the translator decided that they had to add some extras including very tough weebish translation of it.

If you managed to agree or pass with that part then be wary that Yuri tag doesn't exist. You can't even barely call it a Shoujo AI. Why? Because I am struggling to find anything related to it for the... more>> first 10 chapters without getting thrown into random characters talking nonsense and tons of unnecessary alchemy that honestly can be shortened unless you suck up to atelier shenanigans. Maybe because it's WN and that is acceptable but really unreasonable to have like 6-8 pages of text and all of it were about alchemy.

Then I do not understand, where the hell the harem tag came from unless they wanted to tag every males included and every females that MC met into falling love or even confessing to them. Which isn't exactly what's happening. At all. This is like wrong in so many level, you do not add Yuri tag when there's mixed romance on the harem. This is not drama or romance either so what exactly is the point of it?

The story is incoherent, hard to follow without getting showered by alchemy on almost every chapter (reduce much later), side or background characters talks too much, some nonsense twit of rumour neet which reminds me of Bofuri. Which is a shame because it was a wasted potential.

I can't see myself picking this back anytime soon,

And IMO maybe I'll wait for an LN translation instead of WN which normally already edited and cut where the part should be avoided. The tag I mentioned may apply on later untranslated chapter but so far? Nope.

In conclusion you'll either like it or hate it. But most of the part unless you're a suckers for gender bender and Atelier this is your food. For Yuri GB fans? No, skip it or just wait for it. Although you can read it if you want to and see it for yourself what I am talking about.

If you want to talk about it or spoil some stuff for me here's my discord Xaelath#2315. I am welcoming you in an open hand. <<less

Okay, you might be tempted to drop this very soon, but just wait.

The Isekai like RPG game is... Kinda cringy and not very fun. 2/5.

However, the best bit is the real life bits. Those bit is what kept me going.

... more>> This novel is like one of those "90% okay, 10% amazing" novels. With the tr*sh bits being bad but not bad enough for you to drop, and the rest being "HOLY sh*t THIS IS FUN".

The first chapter I just kinda skimmed through but I could tell it's boring af. So just skip that if you'd like.

I totally rate this a 4.5/5. I don't really like the MMORPG parts and that nearly made me drop it half way through. However unlike most novels the 10% good bits are like a magnet that stuck me to the novel. I know it's bad, but I can't drop it until I finally read the real life parts.

Should read.

EDIT: Gonna say this again, but this novel is like a fruit bowl. If you like apples, you pick out the apples, eat (read) them carefully, and enjoy it. The other fruits you could just chew faster (skim through) so that even if you don't enjoy it, the taste won't stay in your mouth. Certain parts of this novel is my cup of tea, but sometimes it's not. Then I skim through it. This is a great way to enjoy a Fruit bowl type novel. <<less

As someone who has read the raws up to the latest (though some terms are confusing- machine translations and all) I can say that this novel is one of the best genderbender I've seen in a while.

I've read dozens of this subgenre and oh boy, this novel played that well. Although the cause of the s*x change and stuff that happened irl is still a mystery, that worked well to be one of the points that made me stay. Because of all these reality alterations that happened because of the... more>> game just made me wonder what's actually going on and what's causing it. The mysteries such as the great alchemists and all of those stuff made me want to read more.

The irl stuff is also very well written. The character development is great but its pacing is quite lacking compared to the VR stuff but since the VR plays quite a significance in the later chapters, it's still fine. And don't skip the VR stuff.

Spoiler

It's quite the build up until sh t just falls apart and now there's an emperor and the MC's irl family is now a great noble known for their ancestors' feat and contribution in the war. The VR stuff slowly builds up and solidifies its significance in the real world makes the main cast realize how much this game can change the world due to a single quest.

[collapse]

Although the VR system is very confusing, it just made me think that maybe the game isn't just a game but is actually a separate world that is fusing with the MC's world and the lore is actual real events that happened in that world. That's maybe why the system is very luck-based with the unique skills/passives and all.

Overall, I'd recommend for you to read it all the way. Sadly, there's been no translated update for quite a while now and JP-ENG machine translation still sucks, actually probably made me lose some of my braincells trying to comprehend those freaking skill names because google can't translate them properly, but you can still get the idea if you've really payed attention to the previous details.

It was a great read, would highly recommend! <<less

Still early but the novel has been good so far and my only complaint would be the translator putting in random images from different anime and games. Let the readers use their own imagination. I am ok with the item icons when the character is making recipes because that can get confusing but spamming images of characters with glasses or cute fantasy girl pictures not so much.

Gender bending stories like this still feels pointless, at least the author put in a reason why our protagonist is female in real life and as a game avatar. The VRMMO doesn't allow opposite gender avatars for some reason. And and a gender changing disease. So if you're looking for a complex story that may involve gender and body issues. This is the absolute worst story for you, go away. Authors don't put in effort for these things. 1/2 prince absolutely does this better.

Anyway current chapters aren't enough to make... more>> a valid point right now. But the translator says chapter 8 is when is really starts going/gets good. Wow that's such a turn off point, anyway there are images throughout the chapters so at least there's some variety.

Alchemy stuff though, it's fine. Again traditional this class sucks and no one plays it except for main character etc. Which is lame. <<less

... surprisingly, it's a fun read.

Pointless? Yes. Plotless? Kinda. Any fight scene? Nay. Any drama? So far, nah.

Yet personally I think it's not that bad. MC seems a bit... two dimensional, but it's not even double-digit chapter so maybe I'm wrong.

There's no notable aspect about this novel so far. Pretty relaxing story with no proper direction... definitely a slice of life, like, in its truest meaning.

__edit—:

... it's getting really weird on later chapter.

Spoiler

The game finally started to affect the reality. MC and her friends were forced to return back their reality into the normal one by winning battles (wars), trying to resist the plot concocted by the mastermind. Everytime they won and logged out, they were returned in different timeline. On one point, MC's family become so influential they're regarded as one of the main family in the country (lol) only second to the royal household.

One of the greatest gendbend novel I have ever seen. The story' is proggressing well, not rushing to fast and to slow. The story' is interesting too and exciting especially because the reality-alteration. The characters is interesting, MC doesn't become cringe and keep Her (His) personality stay as before, the Problem is released properly and Solved properly too. And the reaction from multiple POV too, I really like it. The action and the alchemy thing is blissful too. No regret.

Edit:

Gave this another try, read until c102.

Its a 3/5 to 3.5/5 for me. The synopsis is somewhat unique with a blend of virtual fantasy and real life with an universal gender bender. However, at least to me, it feels like the author threw too much into the basics of the story. Seriously? Gender bender, virtual reality, real life, mystery, slow-burner (slice of life) and the cliche plot of "the game is actually not a game" in a single WN. The "mysteries" are not even interesting because of how bland they... more>> are and how sloe the story progresses. The story also fails to captivate due to how shallow the characters are. First of all, the author made way too many characters. Every character except the MC get way too few screen time even tho they're supposed to be the main supporting characters for the MC (especially Yuuki, Kyota and Shin). Secondly, the MC is your typical moronic MC who doesn't know what he/she's doing and somehow becomes OP because blah blah blah. Its only slightly interesting because of the somewhat unique premise of the story.

Overall, I'd rate this somewhat above the average fantasy/isekai due to being somewhat unique.

If you really insist on reading this and want to continue reading beyond where Estelion left off, I recommend reading it on jpmtl. (One of the higher rated machine-translated novel site. Normally the mtl'd novels are decently readable. However, due to this WN's raw's incredibly rare grammar, I'd classify the translated chapters as between barely readable and somewhat readable)

Oh btw if you want me to rank this against other gender bender fantasy novels, I'd say that this is slightly above "She professed herself as the pupil of the wiseman" (which is THE textbook example of a generic slow-burner isekai, you can't get more generic than that), but still miles below Fake Saint of the Year. If you want a truly good gender bender fantasy story that's not a slow burner, read Fake Saint of the Year. Its ridiculously high 4.6/5.0 rating is not just for show. <<less

It started out alright, but it has now become a chore for me to continue reading. There are several characters that are unbearable and 2d. There are two specific characters that are so unlikable that they could make high appearances on my least favorite characters of all time.

I don't understand why this story is so highly rated.

Spoiler

George is one of the unlikable characters. He is the token Okama (man with the soul of a woman) that seems to be mandatory for mmo novels. Even as a straight person, I find the way that he was portrayed is really offensive. He's written as a s*x fiend, thirsting after every single attractive make character in the story, from main characters to unnamed background characters. It's downright insulting.

The other unlikable character is called Wolf. He's a brat that thinks he's a tragic hero by attacking all adult characters using an exploit in the game's software that prevents adults from initiating PVP against children under 15. Chapter 53 is mostly about his backstory and it's horrible. The chapter that was supposed to make me feel sorry for him just made me hate him more. Who cares that kids got scammed by other players in the first patch of the beta, that's part of the MMO genre. Grow up or play a different game.

The harem is non-existent, unless you count the fact that everyone blushes when they talk to the MC. There is zero romance and no yuri developments so far.

[collapse]

I do not recommend this story. <<less

Great. Wish the translation was faster but can't be demanding. Fun read on the whole. Good balance between real life and in-game life. Only thing that puts me off, at least for now, is the MCs lack of danger sense as a female. Especially as a beautiful little girl without much physical strength. But that's just my opinion since as a woman, one should always be alert, since you're in much more danger.

mina, george, and the sage (dificult name to remember) deserve better, mc's important beginner companions are basically becomming party fillers... I feel especially bad for mina.

The main problem I have is the slow speed of the story. At chapter 280 only about 4-5 weeks have passed. Everything feels dragged out, aspecially the irl stuff.

I enjoy the crafting talk and the game mechanics, but the "surprise alchemy doesn't suck" trope is overused.

I need a break from this story, it got too political. I might pick it back up in the future though.

The story has a few good and epic moments, but they are far in between. <<less

This one is seems to be a combo of OSO (Only Sense Online) and Atelier games, but with a fantasy twist on the real-life gender bender aspect. Honestly, the real-life bits were the most interesting to me. I was interested in seeing other people's reaction to Taru's s*x change. However, the novel itself is pretty poorly written and it's translated very roughly. The translator can read Japanese but struggles with the nuances; it's clear that the whole translation would benefit a ton from an editor. Also, the first chapter where... more>> the MC has a shitty (literal) confession was super disgusting and just seems unnecessary (it actually made me really dislike the MC).

Just read the parts you like and skip over the parts that are boring/re-hashed versions of OSO. <<less

Unless you have played Atelier series, you will probably have no clue why this alchemy-thing is interesting. As for myself, I only tried 1 of their game and I didn't like it. So, I will not comment on the alchemy part. But for everything else, it's your typical jp web novel, it's short, it lacks beefy explanation. The set up also pretty overused by now as I remember reading the same thing on this translator site. By the way, The way MC decides not to tell his family about it... more>> at first and insist on choosing alchemy is beyond normal human logic. And the way he not reacting to the gender change, as much as other novels, is bothering me which make it look like the author just put it there for convenience.

At first I thought this novel was a clichéd gender bender fantasy novel involving a misunderstanding that occurred when the MC who turned into a beautiful little girl played virtual games and became famous like similar popular novels like Only Sense. But my guess is not entirely correct, the premise of this story is more like the real world changes due to changes made by players in the virtual world. The premise is closer to the Jumanji movie. How the actions of MC and his friends in carrying out quests... more>> in the game gradually caused the deviation of the real world and even changed the history of the world. For example:

Spoiler

(1) The emergence of church sect like game that exist in the real world; (2) The appearance of game items produced in the real world; (3) The production of magic dolls in the real world; (4) Realizing the ability of players in the real world; (5) The marginalization of popular religions in the real world; (6) Japan becomes a super power country that wins World War II with an emperor who looks like the emperor in the game.

[collapse]

The drawback of this novel is that the plot is very slow so that the reader can get bored before capturing the uniqueness of the story. After all, the author also seems to be half-baked in presenting the story. Unfortunately the premise of "changing the real world through games" failed to convey at the beginning of the story. As an illustration, I needed to read 70+ chapters to find the premise and it's still very vague. After 200+ chapters, the world's changes really have an impact. Another drawback, the author is also too technical in presenting al chemistry conducted by MC using complicated and boring terms. But apart from that, this novel is quite entertaining to read when relaxed. <<less

Damn, this is good but it such a waste that it got worst. The start is pretty interesing, it's fun to read the MC exploring in alchemy system. It's also fun to read her meeting with her sister, making party with her friends while improving her skills. Same when she discover a secret in the forest.

BUT, after that it turns bad.

-Her alchemy skills evolved so fast that she got new skills which means new ways of crafting, and because of that it became overwhelming. Instead of staying on the few... more>> skills (system) the author introduced a lot.

-Useless POV of mob character about themselves. A forum board that instead of about something like the new potions appearing or the loli who's doing the alchemy, the only focus there is "I see a loli there", "Let's chase the loli".

-Cringy dialog that is out of place. Like "Who really are you?" then she replied "I am me". Or the MC is fighting and she will be asked "Is this fun?".

-Psychological tag that is not suited in the story, looks like just an additional.

There's really a lot of useless things here that better be remove. A cute girl doing alchemy in game is already fine, but the author keeps adding useless flavor to the story. <<less

This is an alright chilling novel.

The MC of this novel is a high school boy who got transformed into a little girl, and he has to struggle to cope with it.

There are two main focuses of this novel, the VRMMO parts and the real life parts. For me, I found the real life parts the most enjoyable as the MC's character development mainly takes place during that. The VRMMO parts are just generic VRMMO stuffs, with a few slightly enjoyable parts in it.

The MC mainly focuses on doing alchemy, and... more>> those are the most enjoyable chapters for me in regards to VRMMO chapters in this novel. The other parts are quite generic, and chapter 30-40 are just plainly painful to read. But chapter 40+ are some pretty good chapters, with the ball and battles and stuff. The story also moves quite slowly, each day in the novel takes a few chapters. There is a particular material hunting arc that took 4 chapters, which is quite a lot and way longer than I'm able to enjoy it for. Normally, material hunting chapters should only take place and finish in 1 chapter, or at most 2, but it took 4 fricking chapters which is quite annoying and boring. This happens from chapter 31-34, which is why I said chapter 30-40 are especially boring to read. But the other parts are pretty enjoyable especially the irl parts.

The characters of this novel have literally no personality. It's so hard to differentiate which character is saying what that the author have to literally add different variations of ara ara to differentiate. It's so absurd and dumb.

In short, due to the slow pacing of this novel, I suggest you to read it if you want to chill and relax. There are chapters that are good, and are chapters that are just plain. But I still suggest you to give it a try. <<less
